Today ramirezs girlfriend shared a little bit about the man she knew and loved. He graduated a few years ago and was studying administrative justice. He dreamed of becoming a police officer, specifically a homicide detective. These are exactly the people who would have wanted to meet and wanted to be. And now were meeting because someone took him away. Someone took him away and police say they have no leads on the suspect or the original intended target. Police say the middle School Student tried to cross the street when he shouldnt have and was hit leann m earksis there live tonight. Its hard to imagine what they are feeling right now. His family told me this morning early he left those apartments where he lived and tried to cross that intersection right here behind me. Thats when he was hit by that car. We had a lot of fun together. A really good boy. He was a smart kid. Good person. Police say the 14yearold approached the crosswalk against the signal meaning he did not have the right of way. The car hit him. The driver according to police was not at fault. The driver was following the 35mileperhour speed limit. Christopher was being taken to Childrens Hospital oakland, but then according to police there were complications and the ambulance then took him to john muir hospital in walnut creek. The School District issued this statement today. They went onto say there will be a crisis team on campus tomorrow to support students and staff.
