And today is going to feel significantly warmer compared to yesterday. The warming will occur a lot faster and well get those temperatures well into the 70s away from the coast, looking at highs across the region today, were bumping up above average compared to the below average temperatures we had yesterday 70 in oakland, 77 in san jose, 75 in santa rosa. These gatherings werent necessarily massive, but they had a huge impact. The chp arrested 38 people tied to the first round of protests yesterday. Protesters targeted three locations the Golden Gate Bridge and one location in each direction of eight 880 in oakland. Frustrated drivers ended up trapped for hours as chp worked to break up the demonstrations. Protesters went to extremes to make sure it lasted as long as possible, linking themselves to cars through tubes and chaining themselves to barrels filled with concrete. It took jackhammers to free them 12 hours after the protests first started. And we are here to see them. Another group gathered outside the tesla factory in fremont. All the demonstrations were part of what organizers say is the a15 day of protest. The protest took place on april 15th, which is tax day as a way to cause economic disruption. Protests. Protesters believe the demonstrations would target those who are helping fund the israelhamas war. Is this tesla factory is one of the most productive factories in the state, and so in this area, we wanted to target a big center of production and really cause an impact. A lot of these companies are just thinking about their profits and, unless, unless theyre affected, they need pressure. Protesters who spoke with abc seven say they will continue to make their voices heard. Abc seven news spoke with legal experts about possible consequences for these protesters. And you can see this frustrated driver confronting some of them. San Jose State University professor greg woods categorized the actions of the Golden Gate Bridge and interstate 880 in oakland as illegal, without the benefit of a license to engage in protest at these particular locations. These individuals are engaging in trespass. If we allow those individuals to engage in such disruption without any form of accountability, then we can absolutely expect more of the same in the future. Five months ago, while President Biden was here in San Francisco for the apec summit, 80 protesters were arrested on the bay bridge. Some of those charges included false imprisonment, refusing to disperse and refusing to comply with a peace officer. However, those charges were dropped. They ended up paying fines. They say they have evidence he was wrongly convicted of killing his pregnant wife, laci, and their unborn son in 2002. He was sentenced to death later then later life in prison. His new legal team wants dna tests and to look at evidence related to a burglary that happened near the couples home. Reacting to Court Documents that charge bymaster with six counts of a lewd or lascivious act on a child by force, violence, duress, menace and fear. Bymaster was a former youth pastor at river church community. He also founded the healing grove health center. His wife came to his defense when i spoke with her monday night. Brett is a kind and honest man who has dedicated his life to helping others. This outrageous accusation against my husband are patently false. He is absolutely innocent. I have faith that the truth will ultimately prevail. One of bymaster sons, matthew, adopted from sudan 16 years ago, is also defending his father, saying people are coming after him because of the good work he does for the poor. Theyre having their own company now and people are getting mad at them because theyre doing good. The community, San Jose Police say the now adult female was sexually assaulted multiple times by bymaster from the age of eight to the age of 13, and between the years of 2014 and 2018. Previous allegations also surfaced about bymaster a few years ago, but no charges were filed until now. A man cannot go and drop a black kid like us, you know, so he didnt do nothing wrong. And from residents of East San Jose during a meeting today, the Emergency Medical Services agency studied the impact that closing these services will have on the community. Yesterday some San Jose City leaders spoke about the need to save Critical Services at Regional Medical center of san jose. In february, the center announced the imminent closure of its level two Trauma Center, stemi services and other cardiac services. The center said that they were just not being utilized enough to outweigh the cost of keeping them open. San Jose City Council members peter ortiz and domingo candelas both have family members whose lives were saved. Regional Medical Center without access to Regional Medical center, people like my mom would never have had a second chance. This closure signifies more than just the end of services. It represents a loss of hope and support for those who need it most. Critical services at the center are slated to close in august, but if the board votes to fight the closure today, theyll take the concerns from ems and the community to the department of Health Services.
