Nebraska and illinois, parts of missouri and iowa included. The other big headline, and a large area from texas, alabama to missouri, heat advisories. This goes through the weekend. A mother, this time in cleveland, reportedly healthy until contracting the bacteria. And in new york city, a new case, 101 now infected, 10 dead. Now word one of those infected planning to sue the city. Amid word the bacteria can travel in the air up to seven miles. We sent gio benitez to show how this is transmitted from the cooling towers. He has that, and the new cases in two other states. Reporter tonight, yet another case of legionnaires disease in new york city. Like the others, contracted within miles of the five cooling towers where the bacteria has been discovered. Bringing the total number up to 101. Ten people in the bronx area have died. 29 in the hospital right now. Including marvin montgomery. I cant breathe, my heart was beating crazy rapidly. Reporter hes planning to file a 10 million lawsuit against the city. A new requirement going into effect today, saying all building owners in new york city must test and disinfect cooling towers within 14 days. The governor acknowledging authorities have to go building by building. Telling new york 1 we dont know where the cooling towers are. Reporter but experts say each cooling tower can take up to two days to clean. Its going to be quite a task. Because it could be thousands of these towers all over the city. Reporter this as we learn two other people in michigan and ohio died of legionnaires disease. Officials tonight say those cases are not related to the cases here in new york. But theyre confident the number of incidents are winding down. Good news for the thousands coming here to Yankee Stadium tonight. Were just a few miles from the epicenter of that outbreak. Thanks. We cant underscore that enough, the two cases in two other states, not believed to be connected. But 18,000 cases every year . The cdc has been getting more reports each year.
