Katy perry here right now, to announce her top pick for an unforgettable concert, only on gma. Good morning, america. And good morning, america. Happy friday. Robin on assignment. Great to have Elizabeth Vargas here. And we cannot wait for that big decision from katy perry. Shes going to announce it in just a little bit. All of the entries were so great. I dont envy her having to choose. They were amazing videos. They sure were. A lot of news today as well. News overnight from the top Tea Party Leader that led the fight to kill obama care. Ted cruz in a defiant interview with our jon karl. And look at these unusual pictures of princess kate coming in. Shes playing volleyball in high heels. Prince william at home with the baby. Shes at her first solo engagement since becoming a new mom. Im not sure why she wants to wear high heels. High degree of difficulty there. Were going to get right now to the massive manhunt for the two convicted murders released by mistake from a florida prison. They used forge documents. Pierre thomas has all the latest. Good morning, pierre. Reporter good morning, george. Today, prisons in florida are on high alert as authorities describe the scam that broke shes inmates out as an ongoing threat. In florida, fear. The reason, these two men, convicted murderers, facing life sentences, who escaped prison. But there were no weapons, no violence, no tunnels. They literally walked out of jail. After tricking corrections officials. People are scared to death. They could be anywhere. But they had to have somebody to help them. Reporter heres how the scam worked. Someone filed these fake documents with the Florida Court clerk. The clerk then sent the paperwork, ordering the state Corrections Department to release the inmates. The documents look like the real thing, with a judges signature, cut and pasted from a real court order. The alleged forged signature is that of chief judge belvin perry, who oversaw the Casey Anthony missing child case. Ive never seen anything like this. You have to give them an a for being imaginative and effective. Reporter in 1998, Joseph Jenkins killed a father of six children in orlando. Charles walker fatally shot a 23yearold man in Orange County a year later. Jenkins strolled out of prison way back on september 27th, 20 days ago. Walkers been on the run since october 8th, with more than a weeks head start. Very dangerous. And they are actively being sought by every Law Enforcement agency in the state of florida. Reporter authorities caught another florida inmate last spring attempting the same scam. Thats why theyre worried this could be a new tactic. No other cases have been identified. But with thousands of prisoners, its going to be a painstaking process to make sure no one else escaped. Really scary, elizabeth. It certainly is. Thank you so much, pierre. Now, to a new terror threat. The u. S. Government warning an attack like the one on the kenyan mall that left dozens dead, could be on the verge of happening again. This comes as horrifying new video from inside that mall massacre is released. And abcs brian ross is here with the latest on that story. Good morning, brian. Reporter good morning, elizabeth. This new video obtained by abc news, is so chilling because of the casual, callous way the gunmen went about their saturday morning massacre, at a popular shopping mall. First, there is the panic, as shoppers realize what is happening. Then, the heavilyarmed gunmen, strolling through. Picking off victims, one by one, including this security guard, cowering in fear. The shoppers scramble for cover, as the four gunman seen in this newly released video take control of the mall. At one point, talking on cell phones, presumably to commanders outside the mall. Later, a mother is seen calmly leaving the supermarket. And behind them, a wounded teenager, followed by one of the gunmen. She and the mother and the children, all escaped safely. I think they knew they had a soft target. They knew the authorities would not respond quickly. Reporter leaving enough time for the gunmen to stop the killing and take turns praying. They had hours virtually to meander around the mall and shoot people. Reporter u. S. Officials believe the men behind the attack were part of an al qaedaconnected group based in somalia. Now, the u. S. Has issued a new warning to americans that the group may be planning a similar style attack. This one in the african country of uganda. We put out the statement because of our concern and because of information available. But in terms of the specificity of that, im not going to outline that. Reporter the new video is being screened by authorities to answer a number of lingering questions. Security experts continue to be amazed that the four men could hold off Kenyan Police and army forces for almost four full days. In fact, the fbi is now screening news video taken of shoppers fleeing the mall to see if any other attackers were able to slip out during the panic and now could be part of the planning for yet another mall massacre. Elizabeth . Brian, thank you so much. We return to washington now, where the government is up and running again. Both president obama and Top Republicans are vowing it wont shut down again. But at least one Tea Party Favorite is promising to keep the fight going. Senator ted cruz sat down with our jonathan karl. And, jon, a lot of defiance there. Reporter thats for sure, george. Ted cruz says the biggest problem in all this, is that republicans were divided and that they backed down too easily. So, you would do it again . I would do anything and i will continue to do anything i can, to stop the train wreck that is obama care. Reporter will you rule out pushing to the brink of another shutdown . Jon, i know reporter you say youre not going to i know you want to nail down future tactical decisions. What i intend to do is continue standing with the American People to work to stop obama care because it isnt working. Its costing people jobs. And its taking away their health care. Reporter people hated the shutdown. They hated this impasse. And this was seen as the ted cruz shutdown. You more than any single individual were seen as the one that triggered this crisis to begin with. I agree that a lot of d. C. Politicians tried to call it that. And a lot of the media did, too. Reporter it took Public Opinion nationally. Let me be very clear, i said throughout this. We shouldnt have a shutdown. I dont want a shutdown. I repeatedly voted to open the government. Reporter there wouldnt have been a shutdown if you hadnt gone with the strategy that were not going to fund the government for six weeks unless we can fund obama care. We will not negotiate. Shut the government down. Reporter now, democratic and Republican Leaders in congress, like the president , are saying emphatically, george, there will be not be another shutdown. Thats what theyre promising right now. We saw the fire right there. There are some calmer voices starting to get together right away to see if they can put together some kind of smallscale budget deal before the end of the year. Reporter very important and very significant meeting over breakfast thursday between paul ryan, the Top Republican on budget matters and patty murray, the top democrat. Theyre trying to get together. This would not be a big deal. But this would be something to ensure that when the money runs out again on january 15th, theyve got another agreement in place to fund the government for the rest of the year. The government stays open, debt limit extended. Lets hope that happens. Jon karl, thanks very much. A lot more from ted cruz, including interviews with jeb bush and nancy pelosi. Lets get todays other top stories from josh. From one shutdown to another. We begin with breaking news from the bay area. A mess of a morning computer from Northern California as b. A. R. T. Trains across the strains bay area are not running. Contract talks breaking down after a marathon session. As a result, hundreds of thousands of commuters who rely on bay area transit to get around are jamming roads and brynns. Many waiting in long lines. Some people beginning the morning commute hours earlier than they would. Theyre used to this. Its the second transit shutdown in four months. And happening near sydney, australia, told you about these. Nearly 100 wildfires are raging there. It is feared hundreds of homes have been lost to the outofcontrol blazes. And the death of a 63yearold man being blamed on the flames. And nsa leaker Edward Snowden still on the run in russia is speaking out this morning. Telling the New York Times that he left all secret documents with journalists in hong kong. He says there is 0 chance that the russian or chinese governments have them now. And a federal air marshal is under arrest this morning for a bizarre violation of privacy while on duty. Hes accused of taking inappropriate photos of women. This until another passenger actually confronted him. For more, heres abcs john muller. Reporter 28yearold adam bartsch is accused of taking cell phone pictures up female passengers dresses. Police in nashville say bartsch was on duty aboard southwest Airline Flight 3132 traveling from nashville to tampa. Another passenger saw the man taking the photos and grabbed the cell phone. I looked at the guy. And i said excuse me. You ought to be ashamed of yourself. Youre a disgrace to a human being. Reporter flight attendants were notified. And bartsch was escorted off the flight. Which had not taken off yet. Overnight, the Transportation Security Administration released a statement saying, tsa does not tolerate criminal behavior. The agency removed this individual from his current duties and is in the process of suspending or terminating his employment. Bartsch admitted taking similar photos more than a dozen times in the past. He has been charged with unlawful photography and disorderly conduct. For good morning america, john muller, abc news, new york. Thank you, john. And finally, news presented without comment. Britains princess kate, getting out of the house. Take a look. We saw this at the top of the program. Her first solo appearance since the birth of prince george, visiting with young athletes, supported by a charity for which she is a patron. And she decided, in wedges, no less, to play some volleyball with them. Ive been told on this program, especially, these wedges are very comfortable. They are. I dont know if theyre the preferred footwear. The sneaker and the shoe. Look at this. Apparently of course, while we note that william was at home playing something of mr. Mom, however royally, back to kate. Not the first time shes actually played a sport in heels. I would argue this is actually more impressive. I agree. Stilettos on the field hockey field. Not easy. Aerating the grass. She is the duchess. Can we get her a pair of sneakers . Can we find her a pair of athletic shoes. The wedge and stilettos. Thats right. Its taken. Its taken a couple years but its finally taken. Were going to turn to new details in the case of two florida girls, accused of bullying a classmate so viciously, that police say she committed suicide. This morning, the center of the case is coming forward, shedding light on what happened. And abcs matt gutman has the story. Reporter police say the relentless bullying that may have caused 12yearold Rebecca Sedwick to kill herself, erupted out of jealousy over the attention of a boy, john borgen. How often do you think about rebecca . I think about her almost every day, knowing she had gotten bullied. I could have topped it. Reporter borgen is currently dating the 14yearold, who police say is one of the girls who told Rebecca Sedwick she should drink bleach and die. And she should kill herself because she is ugly. Last month, sedwick did kill herself. That 14yearold is now in jail. She and another 12yearold were charged with felony aggravated stalking. The 12yearold is under house arrest. But Authorities Say perhaps the worst of the alleged bullying came after sedwicks death. The 14yearold put out a post. Yes, i bullied rebecca. Now, shes dead. And i dont care. Do you know about that . Yeah. I thought somebody hacked her account. Reporter now, borgen says hes on a mission to expose bullies. Speak up if you see somebody that is being bullied. Yeah. Dont be afraid. Reporter if borgens on a mission thank you all for being here. Reporter polk county Sheriff Grady Judd is on a crusade. Thank you all for being here. They can never ever get away anymore. Because when they leave school and they go home, then the bullying continues sometimes 24 7. Reporter at a town hall meeting overnight, the sheriff revealing clear warning signs that rebecca may have wanted to end her life. We saw on her facebook how many overthecounter drugs do you take to die . We must listen to our children. We must give them the opportunity to open up. Reporter and this morning, the internet, once the source of her torment, now, the site of an online petition for a new law, giving schools more power to stop cyber bullying, to be named after becca. To give you a sense of how long this online bullying might have been going on, borgen said he and sedwick had been exchanges videos online since the third grade. One of the last tragic acts of sedwicks life was to change that facebook profile to that dead girl. George . Matt gutman. Such a sad story. Were going to turn to the startling video overnight of the Boy Scout Troop leaders filming themselves knocking over rock formations millions of years old in utah. You see it right there. A criminal investigation is now under way. And linsey davis has the story. Wiggle it. Just a little bit. Reporter these rock formations in a utah state park may have taken 20 million years to form. But it took just seconds for a trio of boy scout leaders to gobble them down. Woo. Yeah. We have now modified goblin valley. A new goblin valley exists. Reporter the problem for these state park stooges who posted their adventure on facebook thats crazy. It was held up by that little bit of dirt. Reporter goblin valley is a hallowed historic site, filled with nativeamerican artifacts. And known for thousands of these rocks shaped like mushrooms, also known as goblins. Were concerned and upset that somebody would come and destroy this natural wonder that took millions of years to be formed. Reporter state park Officials Say the mens actions were highly inappropriate and could have severe consequences. As for the scout masters, they claim in the video, their voodoo was done to save lives. Some little kid was about ready to walk down here and die. And glen saved his life by getting the boulder out of the way. So, its all about saving lives in goblin valley. Saving lives. Thats what were about. Reporter glen taylor, one of the men in the video, told a local Salt Lake City station, it was wrong of us to be vigilant. Im sorry i did it. If i get a felony, i cant be a scout. That would break my heart. But their actions have certainly broken some hearts of everyone. They certainly have. Should have thought about that before yukking it up in the park. Now, to an incredible claim by a respected oxford researcher. He says he has prove that the yeti, the abominable snowman of the himalayas is real. And its descendants are alive. Abcs nick watt has the story. Reporter the centuries old myth of the yeti, fueled by the grainy photographs, the monstrous footprints and our wild imaginations might not be a myth at all. Ive collected hair samples from creatures that are thought to have been yetis. Reporter one hair from a weird creature shot by a himalayan bear hunter 40 years ago. The other stuck to a bamboo shoot in a forest by a film crew just ten years ago. Now, the dna from the mysterious himalayan hairs just proved a 100 match with an ancient polar bear that died on an Arctic Island more than 40,000 years ago. Leading our professor to make a startling claim. Yeti lives. Its some kind of new bear species. Reporter smaller than the yetis weve seen in monsters inc. Do i look abominable to you . Reporter or the towering claymat claymation one in the rudolph the rednosed reindeer tv specials they was bread with brown bears thousands of years ago. And their descendants survive to this day, roaming high in these snowy mountains. For good morning america, nick watt, abc news, los angeles. I never doubted it. Really .
