a teenager is dead after an early morning stabbing in cedar rapids. rapids.right now, the circumstances around this deadly act remain a mystery. mystery.police were called to the 67-hundred block of around this deadly act remain a mystery. police were called to the -- just after 2:00 this morning. they found allege 18-year-old with a stab wound to the chest and rushed him to the hospital. an hour later the unidentified dora has been looking into this case for us and after so many hours we know so little about this case. >> and it is unfortunate because so many of his friends say he was loved around the area. students living there say they don't feel safe any more. that's because there are rumors of a robbery. right now police won't confirm any details and say they are suspicious death. authorities have questioned a number of people but no suspects have been named. those who say they knew the victim declined to go on camera today but we also reached out to -- they tell us because authorities have not identified the victim, they cannot tell us whether he was a student there or not. we will continue to look into the case as saloon as we -- soon as we have it. clouds blanketed eastern iowa. >> and it looks like they may stick around for a while. terry, what's the latest on the river? >> still monitoring the river but we are certainly seeing some trends there. our current working their way from the our weather. we are anticipating some clouds and there may be a stray shower or sprinkle around so you might want to keep that m mind. i wouldn't expect it to be much. about of the forecast. lynn county authorities trying to figure out how much damage was caused by cedar river flooding. >> this is what we know. in cedar rapids, 35 buildings were not impacted at all. 2 had structure problems. 10 buildings could take up to a month to repair. inspectors couldn't get into 5 minor damage. 3 were inaccessible. >> the i-380 ramp in cedar rapids, now back open, meaning just 2 exits remain closed. all of the downtown bridges are expected to reopen to all traffic by tomorrow morning. with downtown cedar rapids before the flood, thousands of workers were sent home. >> for many, that's a costly shows us how some tried to get by before the all clear. >> here in the -- district business came to a screeching halt due to the flooding. however some places have been able to keep their salaried employees on the books. and other places like parlor city have even hired on helping hands in hopes of opening sooner. for many workers they can only paycheck. employees impacted by the flooding can actually file unemployment. the iowa work force center has already received about 100 questions about the issue. employees can apply for unemployment. however, many business owners, including steve shriver said he didn't anticipate this becoming a big issue. >> you look 2008, there were 3 to 4 months of down time and we lost flood. business was closed down. so i would say that has the barrier failed and we were looking at a 3 to 6 recovery period down here, it would be a different story. >> shriver said he had discussed unemployment with his workers but none have expressed any interest in the option and they say they would rather just get back to work. will close on sunday.more than 150-trained volunteers have been mobilized to help those in flood-impacted communities. methodist. more than 150 trained trained volunteers have been trained to help. volunteering have also served more than 10,000 meals. >> the red cross has worked around the dropped off a truckload of supplies and donated $25,000 to the nonprofit. red cross is grateful for the major gift. >> it's amazing the communities how when something like this happens how communities stands should recall to shoulder -- shoulder to shoulder and really help one another. >> at this time the red cross donations. >> you now have a place to drop off your sandbags. the city accepted sandbags today. tomorrow you can bring your sandbags to he ellis park. the city is consider canning another drop off-site. it is not hard to find a lot of questionable things being said on social media. >> but in the face of a major flood one group used the por a story behind this amazing effort. >> yeah, it started out as a fade book page -- facebook page to just share information. but then one thing led to another and organizers started collecting dry and canned food items and now every day they are out delivering lunches and meals to the cedar rapids flood zone in the past week. week.the numbers brings tears to organizer stephanie berberich's eyes knowing that people are getting their most prominant need met for survival, food, im speechless. everyday people show up to the bertram township hall with food - a full tank of gas - or hands to . help. teachers, just doctors, nurses, everyday people that came in and just wanted to do their part. cheryl russell doesn't even live in cedar rapids but she's volunteered to deliver meals. meals. i just feel that if i were in that spot i would be thankful for the people volunteers come from as far as minnesota - and donations from as far as - well- anonymous amazon prime members members we don't know who they're from they just wish well wishes. organizer sue wolrab says as soon as a need arises - it's fullfilled. fullfilled. we ran out of bread the other day and within with a pallet of bread,. fifteen pallets of bread. whether we put a call out or not it gets answered but not just like heres a few items hers a driver it gets answered in multitudes. but the most valuable donation given by all these volunteers is their time. we are running on about three hours of sleep but you know the city workers are too and the people with flooded homes too. it's just short term. but something the operation really needs some help this weekend. they need drivers to deliver lunches and dinners and they need people to make the sandwhiches.when it comes to food - they need cheese slices, sandwich meat - trail if you'd like to help you can find out how on my facebook page. and of course bertram brown bag horizons is making sure their clients have enough to eat through the recovery. today they delivered ten-days worth of meals. horizons will reopen their health and wellness offices on monday. nine -- --a booming normal. we are at 61 right now, still have cloudy skies and a north wind coming in. there have been a few breaks in located out to the east of us and those are backing in here and there's also a few showers in here around lake michigan and wisconsin. there is a chance a few of those could into the area. but they should be -- and here's the high temperatures from around the region today and dubuque only got up to 60 today. 64 here in car little warmer out around i do a i do i do a lieu. tomorrow morning we won't be too much cooler than that as our lows settle into the mid- 50s. here again is our satellite and radar. you can see the circulation that's been impacting our days. this system has not been moving very much. it kicks off these little pieces of energy that makes the clouds. it's obviously a fairly weak system and we're just waiting for something to move it along. you can see those next clouds coming at us. those will eventually get it out of here by sunday. but first we are looking at these showers that are increasing to the east of us. this is the region that ou few rain showers to our region late tonight and tomorrow morning. again, i'm expecting them to be very light and after that the rain should be gone. again we talked about this cut off. you can see it spinning here. this isn't going to move too much in the next 24 hours. it just kind of drifts around throughout the day and then sunday it starts scooting off nice surge of -- well into the. then wednesday as this front comes through they should bring us some scattered thunderstorms. tomorrow maybe a stray shower early in the day. i don't think it should impact the game. a temperature of 61 for homecoming and over in aims, 11:00 o'clock kick off and temperatures about 60 degrees. maybe a little sun working in later in the day but overall a lot of clouds. and you can see those are definitely in the forecast tonight. here and there a few showers showing up as we get toward the morning hours. still a few scattered around but you will notice those are few and far between. low temperatures tonight back in the low to mid-50s. a stray shower or sprinkle a tomorrow a few of those scattered around but mainly in the east. temperatures holding in the 60s for highs and your long range forecast a temperature of 70 on sunday as we get the sunshine back in the area. monday we're up to 73 and we will build on that and finally reach 76 on tuesday. and some storms on wednesday and then the temperatures go back to the 60s on thursday and friday. tomorrow, just a maybe a brief shower grassley works. clouds played a big role in temperatures today. not that much below normal but just a little bit cool and now tonight the clouds continue to push in from the east around a weather disturbance that's been locked in place over the ohio valley and you can see a few showers developing. there is a chance that some of these could get into eastern iowa tonight and tomorrow morning but they will be getting pretty far away and these should be light and very widely scattered. here's today's high temperatures and with clouds around temperatures were substantially cooler here. sun was out, sioux city got all the way up to 76 and omaha was as high as 70 degrees. here's a look at the current temperatures now. we are holding in the lower 60s and with the clouds, temps won't go down much overnight and tomorrow they won't go up too much during the day. we'll be in a range of 10 degrees here over the next 24 hours. now, there's that spinning low pressureha south of indianapolis. this is cut off from the jet stream flow with the jet stream running up in canada, the westerlies aren't available to move it. it's going to sit out here and spin. they he do bring the clouds back into eastern iowa. as we go to the radar you can see the majority of those have stayed out to the east of us. so i do think there is a scattered light showers or sprinkles will get into eastern iowa but they should be few and far between and very much light in nature. here's that air flow. our main jet stream comes in over the west and then goes up into canada. tomorrow it still kind of lolly gags around here but eventually it will start to move east and head on up into winds to return and by the time we get to monday and tuesday, temperatures should take off pretty good and eventually this front will come in and with that will come our next chance of showers and thunderstorms. tomorrow looks like a lot of clouds around. there is that chance of a shower for homecoming tomorrow, that will be primarily dirge the morning. -- during the morning. north at 5 to 10. in aims a temperature of 60 degrees. i don't think we'll see much in the way of rain. we start you out at midnight. you can see the clouds around toward 6:00 a.m. and these dots indicate some wide showers. you can see a few of those but not much intensity expected. later o should start to break out a bit and then by sunday the clouds are gone and the temperatures will be real nice. tonight's forecast does have a chance of a late night shower or sprinkle. should be back in the range of mid to low 50s. tomorrow more of the same, cloudy and kind of cool. maybe a brief shower or sprinkle but a lot of us won't see those. temperatures up to 70s on sunday. that's when the sun returns to our skies. monday and tuesday look really nice. mid to low 70s, then wednesday a crack at showers and thunderstorms and temperatures will cool off and by thursday and friday we're back in the 60s for temperatures. >> sounds good for the hawk eye game tomorrow. >> yes, again, there could be a brief sprinkle or shower but the temps will be comfortable and hopefully a victory. would washington stay unbeaten?
