"17:33:38-17:33:48 "they sandbagged to a level to protect it, to 25 feet and f it goes over the levee, it will affect houses, behind the church, couple of streets." clayton county will be giving us an update on the status of everything later this morning around 10. governor branstad has issued a disaster iowa counties. it's for flooding in allamakee, clayton, fayette, howard and winneshiek counties. these counties can now use state money to help with flooding response and recovery efforts. governor branstad and lieutenant governor kim reynolds will tour flood damage in winneshiek county today. they will be in freeport around 9:15. they will then head to the inwood ballroom in spillville around 10:15. and will go to fort atkinson around 11 o'clock. we'll have complete coverage of the governor's visit recovery efforts, on-air and online today. the coralville food pantry hopes its new location will help it serve more people in need. the new location is at 420 10th avenue, just blocks away from the food pantry's previous location. the new space is about twice as large. staffers say there's now room to simulate a grocery store experience for their clients. they say the pantry is also in an area of town that's relatively easy to qualify for the assistance. "51:07, the only qualification to receive food assistance here is you are a coralville resident and that's it " people can go to the pantry once a week for assistance. the pantry helps about 850 families a year. police say someone with a gun is robbing delivery drivers in coralville. police have responded to four two weeks. they've all been in an area by 20th and 22nd avenues and ninth and 10th streets. police believe the robber is a black man, between 18 and 21 years old. they say he wears all black and sometimes has a bandana over his face. the sister of a man found dead inside a polk county home says she may have an idea of what could have caused his death. the bodies of raymond silbaugh, alicia arpy and a dog were found in a home between des moines tabitha, asked police to check on her brother tuesday because she hadn't heard from him for several days. the cause of death is still under investigation, but she believes carbon monoxide from a generator that was found inside his home killed them. " i was pounding on the door over and over, and nobody would answer the door, and the cat was just lying outside.that's the only thing that kind of told me she hadn't been let in for a while " investigators say it could take at least 2 weeks before they learn the official cause of death. elkader this morning, watching the turkey river. brea, do you know about what time is the river will reach it's highest point? chris and nicole, the national weather service predicts it will crest around 1 this afternoon. again, that's around 27 feet and about 15 feet above flood stage. today's predicted crest is slightly below the high water mark from the 2008 flood. central community school district were dismissed early yesterday so the city could have more help filling a clearer vision for the future of downtown development. mayor jim throgmorton recently sent a memo to city council members urging them to consider changing guidelines on new downtown buildings. that's after the council voted to not provide financial support for a 14-story building at the site of the old van patton house, which burned down in a the council is no longer in favor of large scale projects in the downtown area. "we actually have a vision that is expressed in our comprehensive plan, it's the downtown portion of the comprehensive plan, so one of the things i sought to do in that memo is just draw people's attention to that plan, and say okay, now what? we need tools to achieve that vision. "some just want to talk and just share what their experience is, and what they're going through. so that's always a good experience to have. just to be able to encourage them. just to let them know trying to escape police this morning. police surrounded a two story house at 303 locust street until around 1. the man peacefully returned inside the other charges are pending. we have an update on a story we reported last week. the city of coralville will not put down a dog that bit a woman. but the owner will not be getting the dog back. the dog, roman, is an 18 month old beauceron . the decision to let him live came after the owner, tom henson, agreed to micro-chipping and neutering the dog. then the dog will undergo training in north carolina. responders took a 15- year-old girl to uihc with serious injuries after cedar rapids police say a walking to school. it happened on 42nd street northeast. the student goes to kennedy high school. this is the car that hit the girl yesterday morning around 7-30. the impact broke the windshield. the driver isn't facing any charges for the crash, but police did issue a ticket for an expired license plate. investigators believe the driver was going about 20 miles per hour, which is below the posted speed limit in the area. kennedy principal jason kline put out an e- everyone to use extreme caution on 42nd street and wenig road. he also urged all students to use the crosswalks instead of cutting across the streets. one woman says there were almost two accidents in the same spot yesterdamorning. lucy jackson says she was driving through the same area when a different student walked in front of her car, not looking for traffic.
