"38:37i would hear radios at night and stuff, so i told the going on back there.. he's like nah nah, and i said no really." so, they checked it out. no one was back there, there's not even electricity in that room. the music, lamps falling over, and unexplained knocking... all drove villhauer to reach out to scott johnston and cedar rapids paranormal. the team investigates hauntings all across eastern iowa... searching for proof of the paranormal. while the team believes in ghosts, their free investigations aren't out to prove they exist. "54:24we're not here to actucally hunt for spirits, we're here to get answers and validation for clients who contact us with real issues." it and his team spend a lot of time listening, walking the home, and trying to communicate with a wide variety of equipment. "56:30whether it was footsteps, slamming doors, things moving, voices, i wanted to have something in our kit to be able to pull out and say okay we have something to document this, we have something scientific no matter what it is." that means electromagne tic field detectors, night vision cameras, motion detectors, voice recorders, and they're favorite the sls camera. "59:47if it senses anything in the atmosphere as it bends around a 3d grid that it interprets as a human form, it will map it as a really amazing validating captures on that." johnston showed me how the camera works in action. "19:55watch right up here.." this video is from a home in reinbeck. the camera is set up in the living room. you can see a stuffed bear laced with sensors sitting on the couch. that bear is used to communicate with the paranormal, it talk when something gets near it. if you look near the top of the couch, you will see a figure appear. you can see its asks the anomaly to touch the bear. shortly, it turns toward it. moves down near it. touches it, and vanishes. johnston said this is one of the more rare cases a client has contacted him about. "4:16she said that they're little girl was getting up in the middle of the night and clawing at the plaster in her room. she said that she was being told by two evil little kid spirits to do this." the family had the child psychiatrically evaluated, and she passed. after ruling that out, they took the case. this is another video from that home. here's johnston sitting in the master bedroom, and here's a camera sitting outside the door. when you place them side by side, you can see what happens in real time. johnston said these doors were latched.. and suddenly s us, homeowners and businesses they believe that what they're experiencing is very very real. the experiences they are having are real to them in terms of how it affects them. its affecting their lives, its affecting their children, its affecting their family lives, their sleep." johnston says he understands why others wouldn't believe, but he asks them to consider one thing. "11:26would we go through the trouble of going to a client's location, sometimes driving four to six hour round trips, motel rooms, gas, all this equipment, setting it up, evidence review, coming back for reveals, coming back for cleansings charging no fee, would we really do that to only play those clips to say here's this ghost sound." as for villhauer and her mom, they haven't seen the evidence yet, but she knows one thing is for sure. "42:00brea: so, you think they're ghosts? marissa: yeah, oh yeah they are. they're spirits for sure. ghosts, spirits, yeah oh yeah they're here." so, chris and nicole, whether paranormal investigations are looking to find answers. trick-or- treating times for communities across eastern iowa. just go to our website, kcrg dot com. americans are expected to spend a record $8.4 billion dollars on halloween costumes and decorations this year. balloons etc. & the costume emporium says this is its busy season. workers say this year, the grinch is the most popular adult costume. in second, is dressing as senior citizens. the shop says the stream of customers in the final weeks this year before halloween is steady.
