Waterloo landlords want to know if theyre renting an apartment to someone with a criminal past. The city council is considering eliminating a portion of rental applications where youre required to disclose criminal convictions. Based on that information a landlord can then decide not to rent to them. Landlords of black hawk wants to protect the inexperienced landlords who dont know the rules. And they say some may not be able to preform a Human Rights Commission says its only hurting those who want to start a new life. By accepting somebody without doing their background check or asking that question you may inadvertently put a pedophile, a someone convicted of repeated issues of violence, next to someone you love, and nobody wants that. The idea is that when you go in for an application if the box is removed you dont signal to the employer or the landlord that you have a record and so youre treated as a human being. Its been wild, david, weve gone, probably three weeks now without any rain hardly at all. A little bit the last couple of days, but its allowed the producers to just keep right on rolling. And its gone incredibly fast, and its been really good so far. Tracy gathman, general manager, two rivers, pella. The farmers themselves own the facilities, thats who were here to work for and its especially sweet when its in october, right in the middle of harvest. And we can see the fruit of the labors. This facility, or these companies, were started in 1920, by the producers, they own them by common stock in the facility, they completely own the company. All of our profits are turned back to our member owners, or the producers. The qualitys been really good. Were seeing a lot of stuff come out of the field now with very low moisture, especially with the corn. Were not having to run our driers whatsoever. Everythings coming out anywhere between 13. 5 and 16 percent. Were trying to make as big of a hole as what we can. Weve started a ground pile at our facility in otley. Weve moved some grain into some terminal storage to try and make more room. Early on, we actually got soybeans in room that we normally use for corn. Id say today weve still got 20, 25 percent of harvest left and the bins are filling rapidly and where were going to go with it next, im not real sure, but well get that figured out in the next day or two. Nats cooperatives should not be mistaken for independents. Theres a big difference. Independents are owned by one person who takes in the profits. Coops are profits. 500 farmer workers.
