persons arrested during the searches >> brussels remains on its highest terror alert and a third day of lockdown today. schools, subways closed and the u.s. embassy urging american citizens to shelter in place. >> the city of paris under a heavy security presence. it remains under a state of emergency having deployed 1500 additional soldiers across the city. stepping up security at tourist sites like the eiffel tower as well as at stores and malls. >> people continue to place flowers at the concert hall where more than 80 people were killed. we're hearing for the first time from members of the band playing when the horror unfolded. abc's lama hasan is in paris. >> reporter: breaking their silence for the first time, the american rock band the eagle of death metal describe the horror unfolding while performing that night. >> several people hid in our dressing room, and the killers were able to get in, and killed every one of them, except for a kid who was hiding under my leather jacket. >> reporter: about 30 minutes into their set, this was the bone-chilling moment the band new something was wrong. [ shots fired ] you can hear the gunfire ringing out, the attackers storming in. the drummer crouching down. in the upcoming exclusive interview with vice news, lead singer jesse hughes describes the courage their fans showed. >> so many were killed is because so many people wouldn't leave their friends. >> reporter: the band managed to escape on foot. but among the dead was their merchandise manager nick alexander. his girlfriend polina buckily remembering him at a vigil. >> he's the best man that ever lived. >> reporter: outs the bat at that time clan concert hall, the scene of that horrific massacre, you can still see people coming here to pay their respects after those attacks. la ma has and, abc news, paris. >> americans heading into one of the busiest travel weeks of the year. this southwest airlines flight heading to los angeles was diverted to kansas city because three passengers were behaving suspiciously. they were questioned and allowed to reboard a different flight. canadian police investigated bomb threats against two other planes over the weekend. one of them diverted from jfk. no explosives were found on either plane. authorities investigated a terror threat made against last night's wwe event in atlanta. the fbi says it had no specific or credible information but added that it takes all such much threats seriously. the terror attack on a hotel in mali apparently was an attempt to derail peace talks between the central government and separatist groups in the northern part of the country. 20 americans were in the hotel when the attack began. alex mark quart spoke with one of the survivors. >> reporter: it was eight and a half hours of terror. >> i just knew i was dead. >> reporter: you had already resigned yourself to the fact that you were dead? >> yeah, basically. >> reporter: the assault started at 7:00 a.m. as state department contractor terry kemp stood outside the radisson blu hotel. he fled back inside, diving under a dining table. >> they never looked. they were shooting, the shells were hitting me. they never looked. i don't know why. >> reporter: after the attackers set the room on fire and left, kemp crawled through the smoke to the american rescuers and safety. >> i heard a spray of definitely gunfire. >> reporter: kathie fazekas was up in her room. she immediately barricaded the door and called for help. was there ever a point you thought, we're not going to get out of here? >> when the gunfire was going down the hallway, i e-mailed my husband a second time. he's in atlanta. and i said i love you. if this doesn't turn out right i love you and let people know. >> reporter: of the around 20 americans inside, one was killed. aid worker anita datar from maryland, in mali on a project for usaid. this attack has been claimed by an al qaeda linked group based in north africa. mali's defense minister would not confirm the claim, but said whoever is behind it is part of the growing wave of terror being seen around the world. alex marquardt, abc news, mali. back here at home, a new abc news poll won by abc news and "washington post" finds that nearly a third of republican voters are favoring donald trump. he's probably a big reason why more voters are paying attention to this election than in the past 30 years. trump is getting extra attention now for controversial statements he made this weekend about terrorism and immigration. >> i watched when the world trade center came tumbling down and i watched in jersey city, new jersey, where thousands and thousands of people were cheering as that building was coming down. >> yesterday, trump stood by his story on abc's "this week." jersey city's mayor denies anyone in his city cheered as the power towers collapsed and even chris christie, new jersey's governor, says he does not remember that happening. a megamerger in the pharmaceutical industry. reports say pfizer will buy allegren in a deal worth more than $150 billion, it would be the biggest acquisition in any industry in a record setting year for mergers. the combination would likely be based in oo ireland where corporate taxes are lower. >> thanksgiving travelers are getting a break. gas prices continue to plunge. the average price of a gallon of gas nationwide is now $2.08, down 14 cents since this time last month. and 70 cents less than last thanksgiving. aaa says gas prices should dip below $2 in 41 states by christmas. we're celebrating some internet history this morning. watch this morning in america just three days before thanksgiving. >> worries over potential paris copycat can attacks have authorities across the country on high alert drilling first responders particularly here in new york city. we're going to start our coverage with abc's ron claiborne. >> reporter: americans on edge, heading into some of the busiest travel days of the year. this southwest airlines plane diverted officials say because three passengers were behaving suspiciously. >> when someone says you're making an emergency landing, of course, you're going to be kind of nervous. >> reporter: the flight headed to los angeles. those passengers causing concern taken off the plane and questioned and later allowed to reboard a different flight. in atlanta, law enforcement saying they received information about a threat against a professional wrestling event, but the fbi said it had no specific or credible information about any such attack, adding it takes all threats seriously. >> the goal of a terrorist attack is to injure and kill as many people as possible. terrorist groups are always looking for those targets that are softer, that have lots of people, but are difficult to >> as the manhunt for the suspected eighth paris attacker intensifies in brussels, the city faces a third wave of lock down after the waves of attacks in paris killed 130 people. authorities in belgium are now worried about a potential copycat attack. abc's martha raddatz begins our coverage in brussels. >> reporter: in brussels masked police swarming the neighborhood where several of the paris attackers lived one still at large. guns drawn moving house to house. in the heart of the city, the police and military blocking off streets. brusquely moving pedestrians and warng journalists to stay back after an unknown threat was reported. >> if we start shooting, you are in the crossfire. >> reporter: it appeared to be a false alarm, but it is no wonder the police are on edge. again, this city will be on lockdown. subways shuttered, schools closed, shopping malls, restaurants, all potential targets in what belgian officials fear is an imminent, mass casualty attack by multiple assailants in multiple locations. the paris scenario. the u.s. embassy urging american citizens to shelter in place. the search focused on salah abdeslam believed to be on this surveillance video obtained by the daily mail shooting at one of the restaurants in paris. authorities say he drove to belgium, passing unnoticed through three security checks. the lawyer for his companions telling abc news he may have been wearing a suicide belt. abdeslam's brother saying in interviews that the family thought salah was going on a ski trip when he disappeared prior to the attacks. now he is hoping he ends up in jail rather than dead. outside that brother's home in a neighborhood that has sent more than any other here to fight and train in syria, this 15-year-old told me there are some people in the neighborhood who are terrorists, but that doesn't mean that everyone is. >> reporter: but until police find abdeslam and the other men they believe are stalking this city waiting to attack, brussels will remain on high alert reassessing the security threat every day taking no chances. martha raddatz, abc news, brussels. >> so now 200 miles to the south of there, authorities also remain on high alert in the city of paris. the mood across the city of light is mark lild somber. the hottest tourist spot, the eiffel tower was nearly deserted yesterday amid a heavy security presence. more than 1500 additional soldiers have been deployed across the city. america is a nation on edge just three days before thanksgiving. authorities from coast to coast stepping up security and screenings at airports and events. philips arena in atlanta, the scene of yesterday's wwe survivor series match-up was the target of a potential isis threat. but the fbi says there was nos specific or credible airlines flight leaded to los angeles from indianapolis had to be diverted to kansas city after reports that a group of passengers would not follow instructions. >> we all thought something was wrong with the plane. >> we had no idea it was a security issue until the police officers came on. >> reporter: everyone else was reboarded and the plane landed late in l.a. police questioned three people involved and rebooked them on a later flight. in philadelphia, the marathon got off to a late start delayed more than 15 minutes as runners struggled to get through security screening. in atlanta, wrestling fans encountered beefed up security after reports that isis could be targeting the wwe event. >> there's threats every day. but when you're here in the middle of it, it makes you feel a little uneasy. >> reporter: the fbi is investigating saying it takes all threats seriously, but that there's no credible information at this time. extra reassurance for a country on edge. ron claiborne, abc news, new york. >> breaking developments in the murder of a pastor's wife in indiana. police in indianapolis arrested a suspect on murder charges in the death of amanda blackburn. the walmart. surveillance video shows one of the suspects walking up behind the 65-year-old victim, grabbing her purse. she's then dragged and run over as the suspect speeds away. this is the victim's family that could have done something, they wouldn't have left that parking lot that night. >> an eyewitness was able to give police a description of the suspects. they were later arrested in tennessee. police say they may be linked to ten similar purse snatchings. >> we turn now to the weather. the midwest is digging out from its first snowstorm of the season. chicago's o'hare airport got more than 11 inches of snow. that's the most in 120 years in one day there with hundreds of flights canceled yesterday. driving was a challenge, as well. this blast of arctic weather is heading for hour. the intensifying manhunt for that alleged eighth paris attacker. police arrested 16 people in 22 raids across belgium yesterday including in the molenbeek neighborhood of brussels where officials say some of the paris suspects lived. but still, sal la abdeslam remains at large. >> up till now no firearms or explosives were found. salah abdeslam is not among the persons arrested during the searches >> brussels remains on its highest terror alert and a third day of lockdown today. schools, subways closed and the u.s. embassy urging american citizens to shelter in place. >> in the meantime, the city of paris is under a heavy security presence. it remains under a state of emergency having deployed 1500 additional soldiers across the city. stepping up security at tourist sites like the eiffel tower as well as at stores and malls. >> people continue to place flowers at the concert hall where more than 80 people were killed. we're hearing for the first time from members of the band playing when the horror unfolded. abc's lama hasan is in paris. >> reporter: breaking their silence for the first time, the american rock band the eagles of death metal describe the horror unfolding while performing that night. >> several people hid in our dressing room, and the killers were able to get in, and killed every one of them, except for a kid who was hiding under my leather jacket. >> reporter: about 30 minutes into their set, this was the bone-chilling moment the band new something was wrong.
