"an unusual sight in appleton caught drivers on a city street by surprise. they encountered a sinkhole. one car even had to be towed out of it. in a scene most people don't associate with northeast wisconsin- drivers coffee shop and neighboring restaurant tuesday night- came to a complete stop on jackman street, near railroad tracks along the bluff of the fox river after the earth caved in. appleton alderman joe martin was among those at the scene. "the first observation was, four f%et in diamer and went down about four feet. then from what i understand afterwards it's a little deeper than that," said martin. the car towed out of it was driven by a 61 year old woman. luckily she wasn't injured. sue bogenschutz of the atlas waterfront cafe and gathering room said, "when i looked out, the car was out already. i guess it took somewhere around an hour, , hour and a halal before they were able to free those people. now that car was just in that sink hole, maybe with one wheel." city crews spevt much of wednesday filling up the hole. the cause was blamed on a mysterious wooden structure, buried six feet down. "you might have griffey you might have weather clouds, a dog bone, you name it." the skills they're learning are similar to past semesters, but the fact that their work will be out, for everyone to see, makes this experience very different "it's not just a project anymore, it's not just what's my grade on it, no you have face value that ok this either looks bad or it looks good, it's going to the public." lukas: a cat in michigan is recovering after "bubbles" climbed through nearly 80 feet of pipe and got her head stuck through a small opening in a drain cover. she may have been stuck there for days. the drain pipe is located at a cattle auction in lake odessa. one auction attendee thought he heard a strange noise coming from the site. when he investigated further, he found the stuck cat. "bubbles" was taken to a veterinary clinic, where she's being treated for a few scrapes and swollen eyelids. after treatment, the clinic will seek a permanent home for the cat. lukas: a kitty that was stuck atop a power pole in avondale has come down safely. according to neighbors in the area, the cat was stuck on top of the power pole a crew from salt river project responded to the scene to help bring the cat down safely. -"well of course we want the cat to come down safe so our crews and troubleshooters are trained to get them down so we used some tools to coax it down the pole. "today we feel like we can finally put this to rest and remember the good times with tiffany and not have to relive the accident everytime we walk into this building" said allison. while the accident and a majority of the trial is behind them, and just justice served...tiffany's family says they will always struggle with the loss... "he gets to keep living life while our life sentence started seven- hundred and thirty- eight days ago when we lost tiffany" said allison. family and friends say they're satisfied with the judge's ruling and hope people will take drunk driving more seriously, after what happed to tiffany.
