on all the research and how it affects children? >> laura: they are not even asking. the one thing that remain constant. >> laura: hannity, you first. i got a run. throw down the stairs and out of ththe show, goodbye. i am laura ingraham and this is "the ingraham angle." this has long warned about covert lockdown's may be affecting the mental health of america, especially young people but tonight we will bring you the story of spencer smith. he is a 16-year-old boy who took his life last friday after struggling to school, socialization and sports. his father, jay is here and he will shed light on his final days with a powerful message to parents and politicians who want to keep us locked down, but first... what if the voters knew? what if they knew? and blessed 24 hours two major news stories book that may have had an effect on the outcome of the election had they been reported in october instead of december, together the stories reveal a chinese campaign of influence and infiltration of america's highest level. they are gold to spy on our political leaders seem to reward those who can deliver what they need, access and intelligence. now as we first reported last night democratic congressmanir eric swalwell allowed a chinese spy into his inner sanctum where she found i guess in return for his office and helped them fund raise come with is that what she did? this is the same sleazy's wall ,ill that he was acting as a russian agent but it turns out he himself was compromised and perhaps even seduced by a chinese spy running for reelection in 2014, now he won't answer questions about his own chinese virus, claiming that all the details. speak with the people who did share classified information are the people who leaked this story and to do that against the president, they may think they g will silence me but they are not going to silence me. >> laura: is it just me or is your skin crawling too? today we learned hunter biden is under federal investigation for potential tax crimes and money laundering, primarily stemming from his shady business dealings riin china. this despite swearing on national tv that he made no money off of his china ties. speak of the president has repeatedly said that you received $1.5 billion from china, obviously fact-checkers have said that that is not true. >> this is no basis in fact in any way. >> have you received any money from business dealings at all? >> not 1 cent. >> laura: not one sent except "the new york post" revealed that hunter wrote in a 2017 email that a chinese energy firm had offered him $10 million a year for introductions alone. let's not forget about the massive 2.8-carat diamond that a ccp connected oligarch gifted to him years back, sources tell fox news that biden was made aware of the investigation yesterday, before then the investigation was called covert. why is that? sources say the doj was concerned about how the public announcement of the investigation could potentially affect the outcome of the election. that's convenient!co after years of bogus investigations into president trump with misleading or false information regularly leaked to the press, now federal prosecutors are worried about appearances? are you kidding me? why should the doj get to decide what voters should and shouldn't know before the election, especially a story that implicates our most powerful adversary -- joining me now is fox news contributor and former acting attorney general matt whitaker. why is the doj withholding information that i imagine a lot of voters would want to have access to before an election? >> i think it's simply that the standard operating procedure at doj is obviously not try cases in the media and not announce investigations for fear that you would be investigating somebody that ultimately is charged with a crime and they speak through their court filings. this is a unique case and i'm sure a lot of people at the highest levels of doj talked about what would happen if it leaked but also was it worth putting something out that notifies this investigation was going on. remember, while it was covert they were also able to collect a lot of information on behavioral and tax records and bank documents that would aid in this investigation. there's a lot of good reasons to keep it covert.ra >> laura: sources shared with fox news that law enforcement officers and prosecutors may never select a timing investigative steps or criminal charges for the purpose of effecting any election or giving an advantage or disadvantage to any candidate or political party. this guidance was written by none other than obama's ag, loretta lynch. wba >> it's a little hypocritical. i would have to agree with what matt said andur go further and o say even further than what you quoted, the rule is that you shouldn't publicly announce an investigation, even if it was started for totally proper reasons that might affect an election, within. 60 days of an election. that's an unwritten rule and we know james comey broke it in a most obnoxious way. i think this speaks very well of the ag. there's no way that bill barr did not know about this, wouldn't havee been informed about this and there's no way it would have been kept covert or n quiet without his knowledge and approval and i think it speaks very well of his integrity. >> laura: mike flynn didn't get that privilege. >> he got much worse than that, he got a felony leak. >> laura: this is what i'm saying to both of you, it always seems to cut one way. >> it depends who is investigating you and i'll be quite honest, it depends on what the u.s. attorney's office is investigating, this one out of the district of delaware. a typical grandstanding u.s. attorney's office that tries to front run news and leak things like maybe the district of d.c. district of new york. >> this is also involving the ccp -- no one comes to the united states without the chinese communist party knowing why they are here and knowing what they are doing. if this involves a possible issue with the son of a presidential candidate and potentially an effort too influence in the past -- that is a big deal. it may have had an effect on the election. >> i think there's a big difference between doj making a public statement and a major segment of the news media refusing to cover something. there was plenty that the mainstream left-wing media could have covered and should have covered about hunter biden and the laptop and the whole chinese connection that they didn't do. all i know about this investigation is its tax related and it's obviously serious or it wouldn't have gotten this far as it has. >> laura: during the second presidential debate, this is what joe biden said about his sons china dealings. >> my son has not made money in terms of this thing about what you're talking about -- china. wthe only guy that made money from china is this guy, he's the only one. else is made money from ehina. >> laura: your reaction to that in retrospect. t>> that statement, we pretty much know is not true because we have seen -- we've heard from tony belinsky, we've heard from some of the contents of this laptop, we know there's an investigation -- this is a classic fact pattern that i've seen many times were somebody does international work and then remits that money through companies that they control or otherwise have an ability to move the money around and ultimately, thats is the great thing about these investigations as they will get to the bottom of it and they will see whether the numbers add up and whether he paid all of his taxes for all of the revenue that he had. >> he said something very important, what he said was essentially -- this is not verbatim -- hunter did, i rely on tax professionals and i'm confident that i will be exonerated. that is essentially an admission that there is something there but he was told what he was setting up and how he was doing it was proper. there's clearly something -- i'm surprised nobody has talked about whether or not delaware u.s. attorney's office should even be looking at this. certainly under a biden administration, i think they should recuse themselves and another u.s. attorney's office come in at a minimum or a special counsel -- i know we are supposed to be horrified by special councils but really it's the vice president's son. >> laura: thank you so much tonight, it was just a few weeks ago that the mere mention of hunter biden former dealings evoked this response from the media. >> you had donald trump trying to lace this whole conspiracy theory about hunter biden throughout this debate. >> he talks about hunter biden's hard drive, he talks about conspiracy theories. >> peddling baseless conspiracy theories about joe biden and his son hunter. >> laura: this massive cover-up may have even handed to fight in the election, a poll of swing state voters taken after the election found that nearly 10% of biden voters would have changed their vote or not voted had they been aware of the hunter biden b scandal. joining me now is mollie hemingway, fox news contributor -- the media whining about election interference for all those years was just rejection. >> nobody meddled in the 2020 election like a big media and big techch and both of those things you saw with the hunter biden story. today, hunter biden himself said it's okay to cover this, it's true, i'm under investigation -- we actually knew that back in october and we knew that not just because it was reported that he was under investigation but we had that laptop, we had "the new york post" story going into this, we had an eyewitness, somebody who was involved in the biden family business saying there was what looked like a money laundering situation and at no point did anyone in the media coverage, they were intentionally suppressing it because they didn't want any negative information to come out about their candidates knowing that would hurt his election chances -- in addition to that, big teche willfully suppress the story,y, remember facebook saide are to go to let anyone talk about this, twitter banned links to stories about it, it's so terrifying to think in this country we couldwi have such a corrupt media and such censorship from big tech. >> laura: our previous guests, both with amazing experience at doj, two of the smartest lawyers out there, they said this is common practice that you wouldn't go out there and announce an investigation -- obviously nothingnd might come f the investigation, it might be the person is innocent, they don't want to be out there announcing investigations and smearing individual reputations but that having been said, given what's on the line here with china trying to perhaps use the son of the man who would perhaps become president -- talk about being compromised or a family member being compromised. i don't think it's a clear-cut call at all. >> that was a the excuse that te fbi and department of justice and anonymous t leakers used thy were getting all this information out about donald trump. there was that collusion conspiracy theory put in motion by hillary clinton's campaign and the democratic national committee and the suggestion was this is so serious, we have to do this and we have to leak and undermine this administration -s i actually think it is appropriate for the department of justice and fbi to remain mom about this but that is totally different than the media suppressing information that is in the public record. there werean these laptop issue, there were these stories, the new yorker had previously reported about 2.8-carat diamond that hunter biden had gotten and these things were intentionally suppressed so people would not have a d negative view of biden, negative information would have suppressed the vote and they couldn't afford that because they were willing to do anything it took to get their man elected. >> laura: they also smeared people who were saying including people who appeared on this show that it wasau likely an investigation was ongoing given what we already knew, given the fact the laptop was seized. that was the logical conclusion know when don't usually announce in investigations, knew that. >> he said himself he was interviewed by the fbi, we knew that was happening. for people to pretend like this is brand-new news -- it's not, they just went out of their way to suppress it on october 29th when it broke and it's really disgusting but we seen the media do. >> laura: we'll never know how it would've affected the election, we appreciate it -- thank you so much. this show has been out in front for a long time, months and months since last april warning our leaders that lockdowns will not just have tragic economic consequences, they will have potentially fatal consequences for our youth. sadly we have been proven right. last friday, 16-year-old spencer smith of brunswick, maine, took his own life after struggling and trying to deal with the loneliness that came from isolation after having not been in school and essentially not having anyng sports, his father jay is here next. he has unimportant warning to our leaders and other parents. the usual gifts are just not going to cut it. we have to find something else. good luck! what does that mean? we are doomed. [ laughter ] that's it... i figured it out! we're going to give togetherness. that sounds dumb. we're going to take all those family moments and package them. hmm. [ laughing ] that works. >> laura: agitators, not educators, that is the focus of tonight's angle. what is today falls church, virginia, was an early colonial settlement dating back to the late 1600s. it was founded in 1734 and derived its name from the falls church, an episcopal congregation. it didn't become its own independent city until 1948 whef parents successfully obtainedt separation from fairfax county inin an effort to establish a highly acclaimed school system. 72 years later, falls church has abandoned its original mission. just as hundreds of school systemsis across america are usg the covid excuse, the falls church school board since last march has closed its schools for in person learning and it's turned its student body into zoom bots. it locked onto screens for hours a day of virtual learning where kids are learning virtually nothing. despite no evidence of schools as major spreaders of the coronavirus, despite the fact that dr. fauci in the cdc said school shouldd be open, the left has refused to bring students back full-time. just like the nearby liberal enclaves of fairfax county and montgomery county, maryland, but don't think that during they shutdown, falls church school board hasn't been keeping itself very busy. on tuesday night, unanimously voted to rename turtle schools. thomas jefferson elementary and george mason high, these founding fathers apparently offended radical activists and the school board chair, total pushover greg anderson just rolled over. >> after deep and careful consideration of everything that i have heard and read, i conclude that renaming both schools is in the best interest of our students and a necessary part of our equity work. >> laura: equity work? and yet they ignore the fact that foreign immigrant kids are losing more ground every day they keep these schools shuttered -- these people don't believe in equity, they believe in power. they are not educators, they are agitators. >> if our mandatory public schools make some of our own students feel less worthy because of the name over the door, that is a big problem. no child should ever have to be in a building where they feel marginalized. i believe we need to find names that are welcoming to all. am>> laura: welcoming to all. like countless other schools nationwide, falls church shelled out thousands of dollars to higher educational consultants to navigate the naming controversy. funny enough in that survey, only 26% wanted george mason name to change and only 23% wanted, thomas jefferson's name to change -- the petty tyrants on the board simply ignored this and sided with the perjurer's of history. parent jennifer santiago saying "while there are many times majority rules works in the issues of equity, it is the opposite that is needed -- it's the majority rule work for traditionally marginalized groups, we would not have systemic racism. "look, if these folks really cared about traditionally marginalized people, students, kids, they would be spending their time working on opening these schools. after the last vote last night, a school board member brazenly admitted their real agenda. >> the critical moment for me was the presidential election, i was proud in the falls church city, the democratic candidacyth used equityy and inclusion one with 80% of the vote. however, outside of falls church approaching half the country voted for the other candidate. that candidate put children in cages, he said there were good people among the white supremacists marching in charlottesville. he stoped division at every turn. i am appalled both by his behavior and what the vote means for the country. >> laura: you don't think these schoolboard elections are really important? this is where people have to start running for these seats and knocking out these goofballs. this radical rabid leftist. i bet after seeing this millions of americans are appalled because they don't really know, they aren't thinking about how politicized education has become. it's clear that children aren't concerned for these neo-marxists that are running education, it's all aboutd remaking america. >> we need to fight inequality and racism with action. we need as we are to reform curriculum and work to educate students to understand the meaning of history, diversity, equity, and inclusion policy for our schools that unites us and specifies further action. we should make a statement that we believe all people are created equal. thomas jefferson wrote almost those very words and we can better live up to the goal he set i know longer having a school named for him. >> laura: that man could be within 100 yards of any school should terrify all of us. this aggressive campaign of wokeness and rewriting history is happening all across america, and fargo, north dakota, where students are in a hybrid learning model, the school board is spending its time virtual signaling about its horrible past. >> if dakota is a chosen name, i think we would want to do work to make sure we aren't defending a community by assigning a mascot that's associated with a name as well. >> what are we hoping is going to happen as a result of a new name? is it to honor someone? is it to build a story? >> i would like to make a motion that the board selected dakota high school as the new name for woodrow wilson high school. >> laura: that motion of course passed yesterday. the day before that, school district in st. paul, minnesota, decided having a school named after the state's first governor was also far to triggering. >> i think this ripple effect of creating a culture of division where some people feel less than or some people feel singled out or some people feel like they are not real people, prolonging thisis issue, keeping this name lingering around, knowing what we know is a public endorsement. >> laura: a public endorsement. you can bet the teachers unions think all of this nonsense is fantastic. everyone is a victim in this game. these liberal school boards don't blink without consulting the nea first and that brings us to joe biden. >> you don't just have a partner in the white house, you will have an nea member in the white house and if i'm not listening i will be sleeping alone in the lincoln bedroom. what will you do to get kids back in school? >> it takes a lot of money to get them back, the estimates are 150 to $200 billion to safely reopen the schools. >> laura: republicans shouldn't give them a penny, we know they are going to use that cash to hire more consultants ud more propagandists who teach our kids to hate america, its founders, and its founding documents. kids are going to learn how rotten our country is, how racist our founders were and how ignorant most americans are. these education bureaucrats should focus on the realt problems, school closures are harming our children -- this from the ap, american school districts from districts from coast to coast have reported the number of students failing classes has risen by as many two or three times, students learning from homes give assignments or school altogether. here's a pop quiz, what is more damaging to a child? the name on the school building? or being kept out of it for months -- and that is the angle. spencer smith was a 16-year-old high school sophomore. he loved his family, his friends and he loved football. he spent all summer working out and getting fit to get ready for team tryouts, but then of course can covid mandates. this meant no tackle football but flag football. soon after he lost his zeal for the game altogether he stopped working out and then his grades began to suffer as he struggles a lot with online learning. when spencer was finally allowed to attend school one day a week, he asked to stay home. why?ta he found being in school to difficult if he wasn't allowed to interact with his friends. this new normal of personal isolation has sent spencer into a deep depression and last friday, spencer tragically took his own life. spencer's father joins me now. i know your family is completely devastated, and we are so sorry for your loss. i have a 15-year-old daughter and my heart breaks for you. when did you notice spencer is really beginning to struggle with this social isolation? >> pretty much when the football season turned from regular football to flag football -- we didn't realize it was as bad as he was, we thought he was coping. as we think back now, his grades were slipping because he wasn't having the contact he needed with the teachers. like you say, he stopped working out soso much. he was still in good spirits around us. teenagers, all the emotions they go through growing up, we did not see how deeply depressed he was unfortunately. i really wish we would have. he wastu putting up a good front for us, i just wish heis would'e spoke more to us about what was going on in his mind. but i truly believe today that if he would still have been able to do his football season, be with his friends and his activities in school, he would be on a high right now and he would be loving life once again. >> laura: what do you say to these school boards that are refusing to open schools or at least take these mental health issues of young people, let alone the educational issues that are coming from this seriously? >> i would say stop listening to the experts, they are not the experts, the parents of the experts of the children and what they want to do. there are parents who want to keep their children home and isolating for learning and a safety and i totally understand but therend still are many of those parents who are willing to let their children go to school and play their sports as normal and i do know there are teachers that are willing to teach the classroom and there are plenty of coaches out there willing to jump on the wagon and get things back to normal. i talked to manyut of them. the school boards are listening to the wrong experts. i believe the government has their own agenda at this point listening to the people unfortunately. >> laura: what has been the reaction from the superintendent in your district to this horrific tragedy? ofof you losing your son? >> he has contacted me many times, he's given me his condolences and i understand he's not willing to take any type of blame for this and i'm not blaming anybody for what happened to spencer. i can't, there's no way i can blame anybody. but like i keep saying, the school boards are listening to the wrong experts. our kids are not an average number on a scale. each one is their own brilliant mind and they need their own learning the way they want it. >> laura: what do you say to parents who think this can't happen to your family, i know your son did not have a history of mental illness, he did not have a history of depression. >> to be honest with you, i had always thought i was one of those parents that this will never happen -- as teenagers grow up, they go through their own emotions of ups and downs. with our older kids, we got them help when they were down and got them lifted back up and it was a lot of help through their siblings. and most of all, there appears. >> laura: they need each other. they cannot be in front of the scree looking at a screen for hours and hours and hours a day thinking they are learning or getting what they need from their peers and their teachers. sports?ea forget about it, you need itm all. >> unfortunately, on-screen learning, emails going back and forth between the student and the teachers and the counselors, it's missing the emotion. it happened to my son, there was an email between him and the counselor about dropping one of his honors classes and i believe he had misread the emails and he understood that he is not able to drop that class. after the fact talking to the school, the principal, the counselors, that is what was meant. f >> laura: i want to thank you -- your family has gone through a horrific time for being brave enough and delivering this important message, it's a topic people don't want to talk about, this is something we must talk about. >> one more thing i have to add is parents, if you think your kids are doing fine, talk to them and most of all, give them a hug. >> laura: love them. thank you so much, will be thinking about and praying for you and your family. up next, seen and unseen -- raymond arroyo is next. ♪ picking your health
