Rampaging this country. People need to know about it and understand that this president is demanding Congress Close the loopholes in the Immigration Law so we can get the people out of this country and protect the american citizens and democrats want no part of that. Dana well ask karl rove and trey gowdy about the president immigration policies in a moment. But first, Colin Mcshane from the Fox Business Network is traveling with the president on long island and he is there now with a report for us. Hey, dana. The president maintained all along that the animals remark was taken out of context by some and he was clearly referring to members of the ms13 gang when he said it, not to all immigrants. Now there was a group of protesters gathered out here, outside of the president s event on long island a short time ago. Some of whom took exception to the use of that term no matter what the intent may have been. Take a listen. We are here to defend i think everyones humanity. We think that the language that the president and Congress Member here on long island peter king is using is unacceptable. It doesnt lead to solutions and it is causing more division in the community. As we wait for the roundtable to begin in a few minutes, we are told by the white house that what they see is some loopholes in the current Immigration Law and will be addressed and discussed. Among those on hand for the round table the secretary of Homeland SecurityKirstjen Nielsen and the Deputy Attorney general Rod Rosenstein and a number of members of immigration agencies and what have you. Local mens of the Congress Local members of the congress, all republicans. Lee zeldin, peter king, dan donovan representing statin island all here. This district where we are bethpage represented by a democrat tom swazy. He was not invited they say but had he been invited he would have attended. The white house putting out numbers to say 40 of the murders in Suffolk County, east of where we are today from the beginning of 2016 to the middle of last year were in one way, shape or form tied to the violent gang, which you will hear more about in a few minutes. Back to you. Dana all right, thank you for that. As we await President Trumps remarks the white house defending the comment he made about violent gang members. Take a listen. We have people coming in the country to try to come in. We are stopping a lot of them. We are taking people out of the country. You wouldnt believe how bad the people are. These arent people. These are animals. We are taking them out of a country at a level and rate that has never happened before. Because of the weak laws, they come in fast. We get them. We release them. We get them again. We bring them out. Its crazy. Dana karl rove former White House Deputy chief of staff for president george w. Bush and fox news contributor. Before i ask you a question listen to how the press secretary Sarah Sanders answered a question about the use of the word animals. Take a listen. Sarah ms13 has done heinous acts. It took an animal to stab a man 100 times and decapitate him and rip his heart out. I took an animal to beat a woman they were sex trafficking with a bat 28 times, indoesnting part of her indenting part of her body and it took an animal to rape and drug a houston girl. The term animal doesnt go far enough. Dana karl, looking at the event here on long island, new york. The president is going to take a seat in a moment. Get your quick thoughts on the controversy. Is it much ado about nothing or is it helping and strengthening President Trump . Probably helping him. It would have been an easy thing if he said in the original comment the ms13 gang members are animals. We could havent the kerfuffle that they were trying to conflate the comment with the gang members to make it sound like he talked about all the illegal aliens or immigrants in the same vain. But this is a fight he welcomes. Its strange, i listen to some of the comment with the fellow from long island saying this isnt constructive. The president is right. These people are some of the most heinous crime creators in our country. Most would welcome the departure from the scene. I wonder why the democrats didnt try to get to his right. He is going to start. Ill come back to you. President trump thank you very much. Good afternoon. We are here today to discuss the menace of ms13. Its a menace. A ruthless gang that violated the borders and transformed once peaceful neighborhoods to bloodstained killing fields. The horrible people, by the way. Thank you to secretary nielsen, Deputy Attorney general Rod Rosenstein. Thank you. Acting i. C. E. Director tom holman who is going to beshdy hope you will be with us for a long time im hoping you are going to be with us for a long time. Im hearing you are going to an easy job but you wont be happy. What a great job. Thank you, tom. Acting assistant attorney general john cronin. Thank you. We also have a couple of folks with us today. Laura kearn, Nassau County executive. Wherever laura may be. Hi, how are you laura . Thank you very much. I want to thank a very good friend of mine for a long time. That this area does very well. The great peter king. Thank you, peter. Thank you. Doing a good job. Fully has my endorsement even though i assume he has no opponents. Nobody would be crazy enough to run against peter. Congressman lee zeldin. Thank you, lee. And congressman daniel donovan, really known as dan, right . Dan donovan. A friend. Great leadership in combating the ms13. Also erin king. You know who im talking about sweeney. Where are you . How are you . A little bit of a relationship. Rosemary. Hi. He says, thats my wife. I know that is your wife. Nice to see you. Thank you for being here. Its a great honor to have you. We are also grate to feel be joined by commissioner jerry hart of Suffolk County and commissioner patrick ryder. Thank you very much. Thank you very much. [applause] they know this threat probably as well as anybody. We are especially moved today to be joined by families who have suffered unthinkable heartbreak at the hands of the ms13 gangs. Im truly honored to be joined again by the courageous families who are my guests at the state of the union. That was a special evening. Elizabeth al sashrarado, robert mickens, Evelyn Rodriguez and freddie cuevas. Thank you. Thank you, all. Their beautiful daughters kayla and nisa were murdered by ms13 gang members. Many of whom exploited glaring loopholes. We have the biggest loopholes of any country anywhere in the world. We have the worst Immigration Laws of any country, anywhere in the world. But they exploited the loopholes in the laws to enter the country as unaccompanied alien mine minors. We are praying for the families with us today and we pledge to honor the memory of those you lost with action and resolve. Ill add another word. With great success. Thank you very much for being here. Thank you so much. Really appreciate it. They will not have passed in vain. That i can tell you. Ms13 lives by the motto kill, rape, control. That is actually their motto. Kill, rape and control. Last month, ms13 reportedly called for its members here on long island where i essentially grew up. You know jamaica, right . I always said, long island. Very close. To call and to see what happened is incredible. But they kill for the sake of making a statement. They want to make a statement. So they killed a cop. A policeman. Here in Nassau County, ms13 gang members were charged with killing and hacking up a teenager. And Police Officers just told me four other young men were brutally murdered recently by ms13 in suffolk. Suffolk county. In maryland, ms13 gang members are accused of stabbing a man 100 times, decapitating him and ripping out his heart. Police officers also believe the ms13 members beat a sex trafficked 15yearold girl with a bat 28 times. Totally disfiguring a beautiful young woman. In texas, two ms13 gang members were charged after kidnapping, drugging, and raping a 14yearold girl. They then murdered her and somebody else. Crippling loopholes in our laws have enabled ms13 gang members and other criminals to infiltrate our communities. Democrats in congress refuse to close these loopholes. Including the disgraceful practice known as catch and release. You catch them and you write up a piece of paper that is meaningless and then you release them. They go all throughout the country. They are supposed to come back for trials. They never come back. Or very rarely. Its the rare person that comes back. Democrats have to abandon their resistance to Border Security so that we can support Law Enforcement and save innocent lives. I notice recently where democrats nancy pelosi, as an example, are trying to defend ms13 gang members. I called them animals the other day. I was met with rebuke. They said, theyre people. Theyre not people. These are animals. We have to be very, very tough. [applause] so id now like to turn this over to a man really, he has been a great friend of mine. Tremendous supporter. I have always been a supporter of his. Peter king. He does an incredible job and nobody knows this situation and this horror show and these law, how bad they all, worst in the world, better than peter king. Peter . Thank you, mr. President. Thank you very much. Thank you. [applause] mr. President , what an honor it is to have you back here on long island. You are a native. You were in Suffolk County last year and Nassau County this year. And you more than anyone in the company is highlighting the evil of ms13. I congratulate you and thank you for leading the effort. They are horrible murders. You are leading the charge. Thank you for assembling us today and mobilizing the efforts of the federal government behind this. Thank you very much. Also, on a somewhat jocular note, thanks laura to give visas to zeldin and ill get them out soon. I have family members here. I work with them. I know they have gone through. For anyone who wants to minimize the danger of ms13, just ask commissioner hart or commissioner ryder. They know firsthand what this is all about. Ill commend i. C. E. And the great job they do. Tom is here and he has done excellent work in suffolk and Nassau County working with police. Mr. President , you have experts here to talk. I want to thank you for from bottom of my heart for what you are doing. Thank you. President trump thank you very much, peter. [applause] i do want to say and i have to pay a great tribute to i. C. E. Border patrol. But i. C. E. Came in and they are doing a job. We are taking them out by the thousands. Now if we had laws that were proper, they wouldnt be coming back to the extent. But they have taken them out by the thousands. And its way down but it is still far too much and its unacceptable. I thought maybe what we will do is go around the table and say a few words. If you might, start right here. You have done a fantastic job. We appreciate it. Lets go. Why dont we start. Thank you, john. Thank you, mr. President. On the very day that attorney general Jeff Sessions was sworn in, you signed an executive order with a very clear directive. Reduce crime in america. And it is my honor to support carrying out your mandate by helping you bring ms13 to justice. And by working to dismantle this gang that is terrorizing our communities. I know people in this room are familiar with the horrifying stats but ms13 is one of the most violent and the formidable threats that our country faces today. Ms13 leaders may operate out of prisons in el salvador but the gang is alive and well in our streets. Estimated there are 10,000 ms13 members in the United States. 2,000 estimated right here on long island. The ranks are continually being refilled. With new emissaries from el salvador. Ms13 is infiltrating the high schools, middle schools and even the elementary schools. The gangs brutality as you alluded to, cannot be captured by words. You mention the motto. Kill, rape, control. They live by that motto. They kill. Murdering the victims with machetes, chain, knives, bats, firearms. They rape. Gang raping young girls, selling them for sex. They control. Killing not just rival gang members but also fellow ms13 members who are suspected of being cooperators with Law Enforcement. Or violating gang rules. For example in march, ms13 member named elmer lopez pled guilty to murdering a fellow gang member who was suspected of cooperating with Law Enforcement. Lopez and his cohorts brought the victim to a secluded, wooded area in brentwood. Maybe 15 miles from here. Where they took turns slashing and stabbing him to death. Mr. President the victims skep tall remains were skeletal remains discovered months later. Another member raul who is also facing federal charges for illegally, allegedly illegally reentering the country after he was disported. He was convicted of murdering someone who fled el salvador for maryland to avoid a kill order from ms13. He and his fellow thugs lured that victim to the woods. Shot him in the head. And stabbed him in the face and neck. For his role in the murder, raul received a promotion from ms13. Mr. President , thanks to our criminal justice system, he will also be receiving a mandatory life sentence. [applause] to give one other example, mr. President , last november herman hernandez, Honduran National illegally in the United States was sentenced for his role as an ms13 murder in virginia. Dana we have been watching President Trump at a roundtable in long island, new york. He is surrounded by officials from his administration and local officials and Law Enforcement as they talk about ms13. The gang there. We will continue to monitor the event and we wanted to bring back in karl rove the former deputy chief of staff for president george w. Bush. Let me ask you about the issue of ms13. I read in some places that there is criticism that the ms13 threat is overblown. But if you live in one of these communities where the gruesome attacks, as the gentleman was just explaining to the president there, if you live in a community where that is happening, its certainly not overblown. As the president zeroed in on something that really needs to be taken care of. Yeah. Look, its not overblown if your community is suffering the kind of deg regations that the degradation that the gang brings about. Its largely invisible to the broader population. This is a threat. And ms13 has been the focus of special efforts by the Justice Department and by counterterrorism groups, by Fusion Centers that involve various agencies of the federal government and the local government. You go talk to local officials where the ms13 pops up and they are popping up in a lot of places across the country. Not just the big cities but across the middle part of our country. There is a great deal of concern about what damage they can do to a community. Dana let me ask you about something that the president is just saying. He wants tougher laws. There is a debate going on in capitol hill now with the House Republicans and all the democrats apparently going to sign on to the discharge petition to try to force a vote. Let me show you what happens. They circumvent the house leadership and force series of immigration votes. 21 republicans signed it. There is pressure for more. 14 more signatures are required to trigger the debate. In the minute we have left, what do you think about this . Well, look, there are two ways to get a bill to the floor. One way that you pass something out of a sub committee, it goes to the committee of jurisdiction and its approved and then goes to the rules committee that sets the guidelines on when its going to be considered on the floor and the amendments that will be allowed and it goes to the floor of the house. This is the way the rules allow. But the rules right since beginning of Congress Allowed discharge petition. That is to say if a majority of the members of the house say we want to vote on something they write a petition explaining what they want to vote on. If they get 218 votes then its guaranteed it comes to the floor. There are two ways to get to the floor. Both of them are regular order. But rarely is the discharge petition been used. This particular petition guarantees the vote on four different kinds of immigration bills including the socalled leadership bill, the mccall bill that is named after the chairman of the judiciary and the Homeland Security committees. There are two ways to go about doing this. This one is rarely used. This is the way every piece of legislation usually comes to the floor and this is a test for the house leadership because they are close to getting the 218. They may not get there. Could get there. Dana all right, karl. Thank you for being with us as we watch that roundtable. The president is having on ms13 in long island. We appreciate you being here, karl. You bet. Thank you. Dana well have more on the president S Immigration policies with congressman trey gowdy who will also be part of tomorrows classified briefing on the mueller investigation. Prudential asked these couples how much money do you think youll need in retirement . Then we found out how many years that money would last them. How long do you think well keep oooooohhh you stopped youre gonna leave me back here at year 9 . How did this happen . It turned out, a lot of people fell short, of even the
