For a while Elizabeth Warren was ahead, Pete Buttigieg was ahead, and right now bernie. Steve bernie is, the socialist. I thinks why buttigieg was so concerned. Weve all been in local tv ratings, Radio Ratings and, you know, there are always these rumors going around somebody got an extra book or somebody didnt get a book. But this goes to show how important it is. I mean, we dont even know how many people were affected by this. Can you imagine the kind of hysterical calls that the Buttigieg Campaign must have made yesterday to steve because apparently there was a respondent who said, yeah, they asked me about the candidates, they left Pete Buttigieg off, so the Des Moines Register said, okay, weve got to yeah. And buttigieg and Elizabeth Warren are neck and neck for third place. I mean, thats going to be really important going into new hampshire. Ainsley a lot of the donors say if its bernie, many of the voters will just vote for President Trump instead. I think its just because he is so radical, you know . And its not just medicare for all, but, you know, abolish student debt. Hes talking about, and so is Elizabeth Warren, talking about shutting down fracking. Do you know how many i was looking it up driving down here, theres over a Million People employed in frack. If that gets out, and im sure that trump will get it out, you know, that could turn ohio, michigan into West Virginia which just flipped from democrat to republican overnight when obama and hillary started talking about shutting down the coal industry. Steve so theyre going to have a vote on impeachment on wednesday at 4 00. Tuesday night the president s going to give his state of the Union Address. Its too bad they could not have workedded it out where he would have been acquitted before, and i know a number of house members feel like the senate let everybody down, but nonetheless are, Going Forward until the election the democrats are going to beat the drum that this guy should have been removed stained. What are they talking about . It was a frame job. His numbers have gone up ten points since this whole thing started. I mean, even a casual observer knows whats going on here. This was a real railroad. Adam schiff has helped out the president. Steve what about this vulnerable u. S. Senator who might have had to have taken a tough vote like cory gardner in colorado . Thats another practicing state,. Steve steve well, thats true. I think corey gardners going to be okay. I think Susan Collins probably got in more of a jam by saying she wanted witnesses, you know . Theyve got a lot of guys in the nfl, great school, great band. Brian lets talk about impeachment. Youre sitting there hours on end steve no coffee. Theres coffee. Brian do you think the fact that we have to wait til wednesday is a stick in the eye to the president because hes got state of the union on tuesday . Yeah, look, ideally you wouldnt youd be able to do it before. Theres a lot of things that go into that in terms of the rules not allowing us to meet on sunday. The chief justice, weve got to work with him on the schedule because hes got a day job steve its a timeshare. Theyre working right now as is. My view is this is not something to be taken lightly. We have never in the history of this country, 240 some odd years, weve had great president s, weve hand scoundrels, weve never removed one, and thats different. Impeachment is one thing. In the senate you vote guilty, youre voting to literally take someone out of that office, the person in whom all the power of one branch of government resides. Thats a big deal, thats a really high standard, and its very divisive for the country. So i dont think this should have happened to begin with, and its unfortunate, but i think the senate will do its job. Steve because, essentially, the senate would be undoing the votes and weve heard the president s supporters say the will of 63 Million People who voted for him for president. But Going Forward, senator rubio, are you worried about the toxic tone that this debate took where the democrats were so so vicious and the republicans answered them, you know, blow by blow . But nonetheless, they want to make sure that this guy is never reelected, and the republican senators who will acquit him, theyre after you too. Lets understand this, a couple things. There were people that already impeachment is divisive under any circumstances. We dont live in normal times, okay . There are people who wantsed wanted to impeach the president within a month of his inauguration and and people who routinely, half the country who support the president or more deplorables, youre automatically a xenophobe, a racist, even a traitor for supporting him. So for a lot of the president s supporters, its a rejection of them. But the bottom line is if you read what the founders wrote about impeachment, its clear that they didnt want that to happen. If it was a partisan exercise or if there wasnt broad public support. Thats why they wanted to keep the vote in the senate. No one is can say this wasnt partisan and no one can say theres broad public support ainsley so the vote will be wednesday. What happens after that . What are we going to get done . Well, you know, look, i think we still have i know its not exciting, but we still have a lot of judges that we want to get on that include from florida that are ready to go, we want to continue to move on that. Were going to have to fund the government before the end of this year. I hope we can do for florida, itd be important to do some infrastructure, water and energy bills that are out there. None of this is exciting. Well have a war powers debate too. So in an Election Year everything kind of slows down, the other party really clamps down, but who knows what emerges in the months to come. Brian trey gowdy is one of the people who said this is not about removing the president , its about senator schumer taking the senate. Theres a clear political angle, no doubt about it. Brian brian whether its colorado, North Carolina or maine i dont think. I dont think the American People wanted the president removed. The vast majority of americans did not. You see it in the polling, but people do not like disruptions, especially when theres an election in nine months. If you dont like the president and the job hes done, thats what the election is about in november. Its nine months away, its not two or three years away, and thats when you hold the president accountable. I think people are going to stand up and say, look, im just not inflicting this trauma on the country. Steve whale, the real well, the real drama will be tonight on the gridiron. Who do you like . I want kansas city to win, im an afc guy. I do worry about the run defense and, you know, the 49ers, they do a lot of presnap movement and really create a lot. They can move you off the ball, and theyre going to rush you with these four monsters and cover the zone over the top. But these are probably the two fastest teams that have played in the super bowl if you look at the receiving corps and running back corps. Theres a lot of speed on that field. But i want kansas city to win, but i worry about San Francisco running the ball down their throat. I really do. The senate, you vote guilty, youre not voting guilty, youre voting to remove, to literally take someone out of that office, the person in whom all the power of one branch of government resides. Thats a big deal. Thats a really high standard, and its very divisive for the country. There are people that wanted to impeach the president within a month of his inauguration. What the founders wrote about impeachment, it was clearly that they didnt want that to happen, if it was a partisan exercise or wasnt broad public support. Thats why they wanted twothirds support in the senate multiply no one can say this wasnt partisan and no one can say there is broad subsupport for removing the president. Steve heres the thing. I was talking to a member of congress yesterday and a lot of the Republican House members feel the senate let them down because they would have preferred to have had the Impeachment Vote ultimately acquitting the president before the state of the union because, you know, the president s going to be up there nine oclock eastern time on tuesday, and hes going to be presiding over the state of the union. Its what he does every year, the president does, but the next day then theyre still going to have a vote on him. We know its a done deal, he will be acquitted, but nonetheless why didnt they get it done . They could have done it on monday or Tuesday Morning at the latest. Ainsley why didnt they . What do you think . Steve well, apparently it sounds like Chuck Schumer was threatening to drag the whole thing out for a very long time just tacking amendment after amendment and theyve got to be debated, you know, the crazy rules in the senate. So apparently he struck a deal with mitch, and this was the best deal mitch could get, and, you know, regarding the timetable, schumer won, the fact that now the president is going to go before he is acquitted in the senate. Brian the president will know how to spin it, hes going to say tomorrow it will be official we can turn the page but, meanwhile, this interview with nancy pelosi is out from the florida sunsentinel. And heres the quote i just say to all our friends, you want to go to the left, win the election election . Lets make a decision to win the election. When you make a decision to win the election you have to make every decision in favor of winning. We understand what is at stake. You want Mainstream Media . I think that the twoway race is between, you know, biden and bernie right now. I think bernie is surging. I think hes doing well. Who does the president not want to run against . Oh, i think the president wants to fight anybody. The president will run against all of them at one time. Yeah, yeah, yeah. My job is to decipher down that. But i think look. You asked me a few months ago id say warren was a lot tougher but i think things change. Steve at one point with warren it was a lot tougher. There was a sense a couple weeks ago i know brian youre getting opposite reports Bernie Sanders would be the perfect opposite to the president and the way to the left they are. But theres also you feel as though theres a counter counternarrative . Brian . Steve the republicans spotted it early. They thought that if it were Bernie Sanders and theyve been talking about him and his candidacy for the last four years. They would love that, because then it becomes a choice between do you want this president , the republican, or do you want this president , a socialist . I think the average american its a binary choice. If you want a socialist, fine, good for you. How Many Americans want a essentially, a democratic socialist . Ainsley the independents, where are those that were more moderate, where would they go . Would they vote for the president . Or would they stay home . Steve would you vote for a socialist . Brian and just to build on what you think, dont you think this all plays into changing the rules from Mike Bloomberg to get on stage because, with Elizabeth Warren falling apart, joe biden, the more he talks the more he gets in trouble, the more he makes people think the wisconsin here is Mike Bloomberg already with 10 nationally, third or fourth, then hes going to get on the stage and hes got a business backgro. I think that he is the only one that is calling for real change in the Democratic Party. Im caucusing for Bernie Sanders because i believe in his positions on almost every issue, especially medicare for all. D. N. C. Changes the rules to allow in nevada limberg will get in; what are your thoughts on that . I think its a clear statement that they want someone to get in the way of bernie. Steve the big news last night, the Des Moines Register ended a 76year tradition, did not release a poll they do. Its the golden standard for the final poll here, but one respondent said the surveyor did not include Pete Buttigiegs name on it; so what weve got here guys essentially is a four way race, sanders and warren on top and warren and buttigieg rising. Everybody goes in a big room. If youre for bernie, you go stand over there. If youre for Elizabeth Warren or Pete Buttigieg and what they do after everybody has figured out who theyre behind, they figure who has at least 15 . So then they go over there and by the end of the night, they figure out who the frontrunners, and the die is cast going forw. Steve we can hardly wait to see it but ultimately because bernie is going to grab a bunch of delegates early on and then joe biden will start stacking them up.
