They waited so long to file this that he was an adult at the time. Theyre wrong. The objective here is to protect the victims at all times. It seems to me there has been much focus on protecting the offender. And what has to be done is a tantamount effort to always protect the victims. Dead wrong. When you say protect the victims, what about victims perhaps that may still be out there. This is still unknown. Do you think the family went through the proper procedure in terms of keeping other potential victims out of harms way as it pertains to josh . Elizabeth, this was handled poorly from the beginning. They didnt really address was treatment with someone who is actually a psychologist a trained, a person who is trained properly and has experience in this area. That makes all of the difference. An Embassy Spokesman released a statement saying jumping to conclusions and making hypothetical accusations is not responsible and counterproductive. This most recent breach hit the office of Personnel Management which is essentially Human Resources for the federal government. Its believed to have happened sometime last month and was identified shortly thereafter by the department of homeland securities intrusion detection system calmed einstein. As a lawyer differ than as a dad. As a lawyer i disagree that the records should be sealed. Remember the complaint was filed when he was 18. Right. He was no longer a child. At the time the complaint was heard by the authorities. So there is no Legal Protection to the records being being sealed. And saying the same thing. And a sound bite from jim bob talking about, he was under the impression they were sealed. Heres what he said about that. The girls have totally forgiven josh and have gone on and josh is now a wonderful husband, father. Hes a godly man, and its just like you know what . Sometimes theres young people that make mistakes. They get involved in alcohol and drugs and Different Things in their youth and they get treatment, get therapy and they go on and they become very great people. And so i think thats the reason normally in society that we have juvenile records. In our case it was exposed because young people make stupid mistakes and society as a whole has not wanted to hold juveniles, what theyve done out for the public viewing. So the family thought the records were sealed. Well i think first of all, you have to divorce your feelings about this case from the fact that you support this familys lifestyle or their morals or religious beliefs. Absolutely. What would you think if this was a family of scientologists or clowns, or dope dealers or Illegal Migrants . You have to divorce their christianity and their evangelical, even their sincerity with how you feel about the case. This young man is an admitted serial child molester who wept on to went on to run a Youth Ministry. Dont the parents of the children in the Youth Ministry have a right to know whos ministers their child . This is the definition of a child molester has to be 15 years old and five years older than the victim. Thats the definition. And do this conduct thats touching and so forth. I have to say, in my experience you know just with a myriad of cases, you have a situation where you have five he admits to five victims over two years. How confident are any of us that that is the extent of his transgressions . I would argue that this is the beginning of something really rotten and to try to protect it because as our dear friend governor Mike Huckabee has done because these are admirable parents trying their best in this unusual situation. With 19 kids. I think is really really off base. You have to protect the children. Saying that the father and mother here in this case in not bringing him forward to the police sooner put others potentially at risk for more abuse, in that time period . Again, you have to ask me on the one hand as a lawyer. On the other hand as a dad. As a lawyer and if i were representing the duggars, i would say they had no legal obligation to report this. None. They are not mandatory reporters. If they were social workers, the doctor the schoolteacher, babysitter, et cetera they would be forced under law to report. Parents are not mandatory reporters. However, as a dad, now what if my children slept over the duggar house . What if my children went to school or camp with them and so forth . We have a right to know these things, and i believe that to confuse your admiration for them as as good religious people or whatever with the act that the young man did is totally off base. And remember he was 18 at the time i think the authorities have totally protected him. At the time the case was brought to the attention of the authorities. And so thats presumed by these records are out there. And megan kelly will have more with a curve theouple of the daughters. The victims. I dont think youll ever see this program again. This program, there will be no sponsor that goes near this i dont know. Makes so much money and so far hasnt canceled it. So did honey boo boo, and in that case cancelled because the mom was consorting with a man who was a child molester. See what tlc does. And talking how geraldo, here in new york city and big cities across america, crime is rising. And some are suggesting look this mayor, mayor de blasio did not like the cops frisking and cops backed up. Statistics show stocks down 42 in 2015. Murders up 19. 5 and shootings up 9. 2 . Just new york. I have been a reporter since 1970 lived through the bad, old days over 2,200 murders every year. 2,200 murders every year. Down to 300. One of the great tools the cops have used to reduce this carnage, which, after all, is mostly involving victims who are black or brown, minority kids are the ones whose lives have been saved. From 2,200 to 300 a year and the tactic of stop question and frisk, which is constitutional based on reasonable suspicion, has been the most effective tool to keeping guns off the streets. This is all about gun violence. We have a situation now i get very emotional about it because i see it and i have a bad nightmare about the bad, old days. You have a situation now where there is an epidemic of violence. You have a ghetto suicide going on now. A civil war going on. Bloods crips, crues, drug dealing, all about turf where you have a situation, remember that of the of the the difference between 2,200 and 3 hrn. Now you have what is it 1,800. 1,900. Every year saved. Times the 20. Thats like 30,000 minority lives in new york city alone saved by stop and frisk. I believe and to abandon that tactic is i think, irresponsible of mayor de blasio and will come to haunt him as these murders creep up as they have been in baltimore and in detroit and in east cleveland, and in chicago. You see this carnage. Whos lives are saved with aggressive policing . Minorities. And democrats leading the charge in terms of the rules they play. Elected mayor. The city is facing an uptick in crime, new york city one of them. Amazing. In baltimore, the only life loss that people are protesting is freddie gray because he died in the hands of the police. What about the 43 others who died in the month of may . Dont they have value . Dont they i mean these are these are young, black men by and large. They are just as valuable as freddie grays life. All lives matter. Goodness sakes, dont disown the police. Dont demoralize the police. Dont make the police feel as if they are an army of occupation, that they are xoned edscorned when they do their job, when the best among them are the ones who are the you know the least liked in the community. It taught me a lot about the Restaurant Business and how to take care of people. New responsibilities forced him out of the kitchen and back home where he got a job managing a corporate restaurant. And it wasnt me. I just wasnt happy. You know . I did it for other people and i was like you know its time. Its time to do my own thing. So one day i came home from my corporate restaurant four walls, got tired of it. Looked at my girlfriend and said hey, lets do a food truck. Thinking shes going to say no way. Youre crazy. She said yeah i was like all right. Eight months later we had a food truck, and this was five years ago, and its booming. Its fresh. Made right here on the spot. Good ingredients. Its the little guy winning. Beating out the the stores and the restaurants that have been here forever. Been to a lot of food trucks in cleveland, and new york and a couple places around the country, and to be honest with you, no ones got this menu like his. And we asked him, you know what hes going to do differently this goaround, and we also asked him, i want you to hear this. If he thought jeb bushs announcement, that hes going to make an announcement rained on his parade. This is what he had to say. You know what . We had a great announcement a lot of people there, a lot of excitement. We can multitank and everybody else can multitask and americans can multitank and i think they absorbed that. I believe in competition. Makes you better and id put my record up against anybodys while we were the governor of texas. What did you think about that . I dont believe that bush was trying to steal his thunder and i dont think he did steal his thunder. Bush was feeling the heat that he has waited so long to announce his president ial campaign because hes able to raise more money as a noncandidate than he is as a candidate, that he was taking heat on that. So i think they needed to get it out there. Felt he was being maybe a little too coy about it. As far as perry is concerned, i watched his speech yesterday. And, you know this is what is so confounding, to for lack of a better word about it. It was a terrific speech i thought. He does have a very strong record at governor of texas, and yet, of course we all know he ran a lousy race in 2012 hed admit. Particular problems just had major back surgery. May not have been fully recovered from it. But the problem is its hard to use the cliche you dont get a Second Chance to make a first impression. Hell have to run a Perfect Campaign to do well because you know that the first time he make as slipup, another candidate might get a pass on it people say, ah rick perry again. Quite a burden this time. Sure. Are we at the point where the field is getting too big for anybody to be successful . Well no. Somebodys going to win. It is its not i dont think its good. Some people he says competition makes you better. Not sure this much 15 16 possibly candidates out there, but its a testament to the fact there is no real frontrunner. Jeb bush tried. Did not scare other people off. And i dont know that Hillary Clinton has scared anybody off. Thats wipe you have a field of 20 horses running in the derby, nobodys scared of the favorite and all run. Figure they got a chance. You know how its going to work. Eventually start the debates and one night there will be ten on a stage. The next day, talking about the winner was essentially whoever had the best sound bites from the night before. Right. But i dont know look everybody wants to be on that stage and weve heard from some of the campaigns that are not happy with the fox rules, but we felt it was a service to the viewers and the voters that if you had more than ten, nobody would get a to talk or engage with other candidates. Having said that i dont think if youre not on that stage in august that means youre out of the race. Theres a lot of opportunity, and weve seen a lot of candidates come from nowhere to do well particularly in the early states. So you know while the appearing on that first debate stage is important, i dont think it kills somebody whos not on that stage. One person that wants to be on the stage and looks to be right on the borderline senator rick santorum. One of your guests and of course shocked everybody winning iowa and getting 11 states overall. Well exactly. 4 million votes. 11 states and as you say, finished second to mitt romney. The last opponent standing. So in their infinite wisdom we dont get to decide whos going to be the nominee. And moments ago the Labor Department releasing these latest monthly numbers. Unemployment rate stag or ticking up from 5. 4 to 5. 5. So slightly up. Thats right. Employers adding 280,000 jobs in may. Well thats kind of a mixed bag. Isnt it . Well talk to the host of barney and company and so the overall rate is now 5. 5. Right. And the number of jobs created was 280,000 in the month of may. Thats correct. Thats two Different Things . I predict the white house will say, this is a good report. 280,000 new jobs means we are on track. I suggest that its same old same old and frankly not good enough. Why do you say that . Unemployment rate went up because nearly 400,000 people tried to find a job, came back to the labor force, couldnt get a job. The real Unemployment Rate stayed at the high double digits well over 10 stayed right up there and the Participation Rate is america working . The answer is no. Thats a generational low. What do you mean the real Unemployment Rate 10. 8 . People who want a job or have a job they dont want like parttime work and they want something better. Underemployed. Fulltime from part time . Why dont they chart that separate . They should but dont, because a lot of the new jobs that we created since obamacare came along have been parttime jobs. Because of limited hours. Right. Limited hours. Bottom line here is that america has not returned to prosperity. 280,000 jobs looks good by comparison to the last few years. And comparison to europe. Yes, but nowhere near where it should be. Do you know that in one month back in the reagan days we created 1 million new jobs in one month . Now with 30 million, 40 million more people only doing 280,000 in one month. Some working two or three parttime jobs to make up for a full time job they had before this. That is correct. The other thing is when you do polls, the country feels were still in the ditch.
