When i envisioned going to college, i knew that it would create a better life for me. Reporter growing up in foster care in los angeles, dreaming about the future sometimes seemed like an indulgence for 17yearold jenny soto. But she found a passion and a sense of belonging playing lacrosse. The coachs high gpa requirement kept her focused on her goal of going to ucla. Yeah reporter this spring the senior at Downey High School found out she had been accepted. Im the first generation. Just by me going to college it just flips my life around for not just me but everybody after me. Reporter the sense of achievement she and so many in the class of 2020 feel dampened by the loss of so many important moments this year. Canceled proms, graduation ceremonies moved online, goodbye hugs postponed indefinitel ....
And welcome to the library of congress. It is our pleasure to have everyone here for a very special night, as we open the librarys newest exhibition, rosa parks, in her own words. It is my honor to welcome members of congress, including members of the congressional black caucus, members of the rosa parks family, who have come to washington for this special celebration. Can we give them a hand . [ applause ] wed also like to welcome the rosa and raymond paurkts institute for Self Development led by miss Elaine Steele. And thats another round of applause. And all the leaders and staff of the different cultural institutions across washington, including secretary of the smithsonian, dr. Lonnie bunch. To those yeses, the Catholic Church responds by saying come on, lets Work Together to find out how to answer all of this question successfully. Today, we will talk to two of the people who help the church and the work of communicating with these age groups. The coordinator said the ministry through youth and young adults for the archdiocese of San Francisco. Then, we will find out something about who are todays young people, what do they think, what do they want, what do they fear . How do we help them to find meaning, to build community, and to live in a deep and genuine relationship with jesus christ as the basis for deep and genuine relationships with themselves ....
