And perhaps what will come out of this is some sort of consensus on policing techniques and so on that will help to improve the situation in cities and urban areas across the country. However, the president s whole body of words he uttered since this whole situation in ferguson erupted, i dont believe he ever said anything in the whole body, ever said anything to suggest that Michael Brown was in any way to blame for what happened to him. And i think that Police Officers and others around the country watching how this whole thing unfolded may have noticed that and may think that the president is not exactly an objective observer here. Martha you think about comparisons been made not specifically by the president and others to emmett till or to selma and to understand the specifics of this situation, to know it is something very different. That he may have said something about it but if youre convening a white house conference on relations between the police and the people theyre trying to protect in such areas you would think this issue might be a part of the discussion. He wont meet with any other victims and he wont remember the name of a guy named deshawn joshua, shot dead in his car a black man who is 20 years of age, likely killed because people thought he was a narc, what we call a snitch. Well, martha, al sharpton certainly doesnt speak for me and to quote coates he is not necessarily a black leader but he certainly plays one on television. But i do afree with him when he says that officer wilson prejudged Michael Brown and that is the real issue here. This isnt about al sharpton. This isnt about hanging on to his every word like folks in the media love to do. This is about unconscious bias and regardless of the fact that Michael Brown wasnt a saint, if youre not a saint, do you still deserve to be treated fairly under the law . We have got to get to place in this country where young black men feel safe when they are interacting with the police. If they feel their life is in danger, they actually welcome the police instead of the other way around. And that is what we need to get to, not focus on al sharpton. Number one, 50 of Illegal Immigrants here have less than a high school diploma. That is according to the migration policy institute. 31 live below the poverty level. 51 do not speak english well or at all. 35 are unemployed or not in the labor force. Critics say that adds up to a net drain on the u. S. Taxpayers up to 40 billion a year. Illegal immigrant population overall has on average about a 10th grade education and earningswise will probably be well below average. Thats why most likely just as anybody with an average 10th grade education will probably not be high earner and will end up paying less in taxes than they receive in Government Services and benefits. Reporter one of those benefits of course is education. And that is an expense americans already pay for. The Heritage Institute also included meanstested welfare programs like food stamp 7s and subsidized housing which the white house insists are not included in the president s plan.
