continues to be under investigation. there are some things regarding this investigation that i will not be able to talk about. i'm going to give you a statement and we will then take some questions that you may have at about 9:43 yesterday morning we received a medical at paisley park in chanhassen. chanhassen fire, car per county's sheriff's office all responded to the call -- car pe. they found unresponsive male in the elevator. cpr was initially started but was unsuccessful. he was pronounced deceased at 10:07. we have identified him as prince rogers nelson. , 57 years old. staff members from paisley park had been able to, had been unable to contact prince yesterday morning and went to check on him. they found him unresponsive and called 911. deputies went through the building to make sure there was nobody else inside. because this was an unwitnessed death of a middle-aged adult, the decision was made to process the scene. that is also normal protocol. it is not different from what we normally would do. there should be no, we ended up contacting the hampton county crime lab to help us with that. and there should be no inference taken from that. that is not unusual for them to come out and do those types of calls. we finished with our processing late yesterday afternoon and turned paisley park back over to prince's representatives. again because this investigation is ongoing i will not be i will not be answering questions whether or not there were items taken during our processing. the midwestern medical examine ear's office was contacted and dr. qiinn stroebel who is carber county medical examiner responded. no obvious signs of trauma. the body was transported to the doctor's office for an autopsy and that is being done today. results from that autopsy may take several weeks which is not unusual. again this will continue to be an open investigation until the autopsy results come back and we are ready to take questions that you may have. >> [inaudible] >> yes, ma'am? >> 911 -- [inaudible]. can you tell us anymore who was in the home? >> there were staff members there went to check on him. that is all i'm going to respond to at this time? >> [inaudible] >> i am not responding to any kind of questions regarding what may have been taken. we have no reason to believe that at this point this was a suicide but again, this was early on in this investigation and it's continuing, we'll continue to investigate. >> sheriff? >> sheriff -- any indication how long he had been in the elevator? was he wearing clothes from the night before? was he wearing new clothes? >> we have not received that information from the medical examiner's office at this time. it had not been couple minutes before first responder's had arrived. it had not been in couple minutes before the first responder's had arrived though with that. >> sheriff, you said he is very private person or was a very private person. >> yeah. >> was healthy person? >> i'm not the right one to answer that. we'll let the medical examiner talk about that when that time comes. >> sheriff? >> [inaudible] >> were there any medical calls made -- [inaudible] >> i have checked calls for service in our log for that address as well as for in prince's name directly. there were no calls involving prince in the past year th we have had. we, paisley park, prince does some concerts out there sometimes and get-togethers and to on. so it is not unusual for us to receive calls at paisley park itself. there was nothing that i'm aware of that involved prince directly at paisley park. sir, go ahead. >> [inaudible] >> how are you able to confirm whether prince was taking any medication at the time of his death? >> i am not able to confirm at this time at all. >> sheriff can i ask you question over here? >> sure, sir. >> [inaudible] >> yeah. you know, we'll be talking to people that are close to him. we'll be gathering some medical records and taking a look at those between us and the medical examiner's office and working off of that from there. >> [inaudible] >> yes. >> were they there before collapsed in the elevator? there a timeline howing long he was in there itself or any -- [inaudible] >> we were trying to reach him yesterday morning and were unable to reach them, excuse me, rich him, reach prince. so they responded to paisley park to look for him. and found him unresponsive in the elevator. >> he was day loan at home. >> that is correct. we did not -- we did clear and go through the residence at the time and did not find anybody else there. >> sheriff -- are you cooperating with any other jurisdictions and looking at all why -- [inaudible] >> we will be looking at all of that, yes. >> can you tell me what you've done so far or you're just looking at that? >> our detectives, this is 29 hours old. our detectives are currently working on this case. there are things they are working on. >> are you cooperating with any other jurisdictions? >> yes, of course we are. we always crop with them. >> [inaudible] >> sure. >> no calls involving prince in the last year. are you aware of any hospital visits that he may have had recently? >> there are no calls involving carver county sheriff's office i'm aware of. >> i know you said -- [inaudible] things take taken out of home but was there medication taken out of the home. >> i will not get specific what was taken or not taken from the home. >> sheriff? >> do you know, there have been reports that he could have been on some sort of medication -- [inaudible]. have you gotten any evidence of that? are you talked to anyone about that? >> this case is currently under investigation. and i'm not going to talk about that at this time. thank you. >> [inaudible]. illinois as well as his pharmaceutical records? >> we will be, between us and the medical examiner's office we'll be looking at all of that, yes. yeah, absolutely. >> there are reports that he frequented a local walgreens several times in the past. have you been there to talk to the employees there? have you pulled any surveillance video and what is -- >> that is part of the investigation and that would be our normal protocol certainly to pull any type of video or so on. so -- that's not what i said. i said that would be our normal protocol. this case is 29 hours old and continues to evolve for us. so -- >> sheriff how detailed are your crime scene investigators. >> excuse me. >> sorry, sheriff. how detailed are your crime scene investigators working and processing the scene? can you talk to us how meticulous you guys are working and who is helping out? >> hampton county crime lab is helping out from a processing standpoint. they are meticulous. that is what they do. so they're very meticulous. photos and so on. >> is there any indication how long he was in the elevator? had it over -- do you believe. >> we'll wait for the medical examiner's office to give us some that information in. i cut somebody off over here. i'm sorry. >> -- medical examiner? >> sure. >> she's the public information officer. she is not the medical examiner. >> yes. >> so is there any sign after drug or specific drug overdoes? >> there is no information at this time in regard to exactly what you're talking about. it is part of the investigation. let me give you a little bit background about midwest medical examiner's. we're working as part of the investigative team with the sheriff's office. so much of the answers that i will be able to give you today will include the word pending. so we received a call at 10:12 yesterday morning to come assist the carver county sheriff's office in this investigation. our chief medical examiner arrived on the scene at 11:30 yesterday morning local time and was on the scene for several hours. the autopsy this morning began at 9:00 a.m. central daylight time and concluded at 1:00 p.m. and just shortly i received word that his body did leave midwest medical examiner's office and was released to the family. as you know it was a very meticulous exam. it was a complete exam. so several pieces of information that are gathered in that process will be sent to labs for further testing. so that answer is pending. and it will take days and weeks to complete those particular investigations. >> is it possible to say when he died? i know time of death was pronounced at seven minutes past 10:00 but had he been dead overnight in the elevator? do you know when he stopped breathing? >> that information is pending. >> do you know when he was removed from the building, paisley park. >> 10:59. >> that is when he left paisley park to your office? >> yes. >> my question for the sheriff, wtco radio of the was there any extra people brought in because this was prince or any extra deputies anything like that different because it was prince? >> there were a number of people that started gathering across the street very early. as well as media. so yes, we certainly did bring other people in to help from a crowd control standpoint. and to assist us with that. as far as from a processing, scene processing standpoint it's a very large area, paisley park is. so we had to bring in a couple extra people. that was part of the reason also having the county assist us. >> searching room to room is that what irtalking about because of build size? >> yes. the building is pretty big. >> are there surveillance cameras at paisley park and do you have them? >> that is, that will be part of the investigation. i don't want to comment on that right now. >> did he appear to use the sell elevator or thought he was about to pass out or take a stairwell. does he have access to stairways? >> i has access to stairways. paisley park is a pretty big place. not unusual to take the elevator. the stairways are pretty long. i can't say. >> -- that collapsed inside of elevator? >> he was collapsed inside of the elevator, that is correct. i haven't been over, go ahead. >> do you know when last time he was seen alive at what point he had retired for the night? >> the information we have right now is that he was last seen about 8:00 wednesday night. >> where was that? >> at paisley park. -- dropped off. >> question, had you met prince before the mayor or the sheriff would like to answer, if so, what was that interaction like. >> i did meet prince but not in my capacity as mayor. when i was in business i had pleasure of riding for an airplane for him. the our plane was waiting for depart pure and two seats in front of me were empty. very soon after that the stewardess escorted prince and a member of his entourage. that as only time i had encounter. i didn't greet him, hello. but as mayor of chanhassen i never had a reason to or occasion to meet him. >> sheriff -- >> we would see prince from law enforcement standpoint occasionally. he would have concerts at paisley park. we would help with traffic assistance and those kind of things. he lived lived lived in chanhasa long time. he had two different residences that he lived, not counting paisley park itself. he had been a long time member of the community and a good neighbor for everybody. >> sheriff? >> sir. >> you said there is no reason to believe this was suicide. is there any reason to believe there is foul play involved? >> we have no reason to believe at this time it is suicide. the rest is under investigation. >> his personal -- a lot of questions around medications cleared by talking to the doctor. >> that will be part of the investigation. we'll certainly have contact with any medical personnel he had, that he had contact with. >> so again, have you talked to his doctor. >> this investigation is 29 hours old. our investigators are currently working on it. i have not talked to them in the past, however long, so i don't know specifically who they have talked to and who they haven't at this point. >> sheriff what floor is the elevator on? >> [inaudible] >> i don't have that information right now. i don't know. he was on the first floor, he ever asked the question over there. yes, ma'am. >> sheriff, are there any rumors you would like to dispel at this time about nature of the death or any part of the investigation? >> you know there have been so many rumors i read about, i don't know if i candies pell all the rumors out there. no. this is under investigation. and, yeah, it is under investigation still. >> one more question. -- issue. >> we did do a search warrant, yes. and that is also would be normal protocol. paisley park is very large. it's hard to say who had control at the time or who could have given us to process the scene. thought it would be safer and better for us to get search warrant confront end. >> [inaudible] >> search warrant has not been filed yet. it will be filed next week 1/2. >> [inaudible] >> to process the scene at paisley park. or process the area at paisley park and i don't have a copy of that search warrant in front of me so the. >> was a representative from the medical examiner's office, i want to ask you, procedure you developed with different offices -- some offices sometimes release initial preliminary information that has nothing to do with the toxicology test, for example, that might give you indication how long he had been dead and was found. are you going to have a preliminary report on some initial information before we get the toxicology thing or -- >> short answer is no. the explanation is that we are here in the capacity of serving the carver county sheriff's office as part of that investigative team and so we will complete our results and on behalf of the midwestern medical examiner's office the office will not release any information until our results are complete. it is determined by the sheriff what his office chooses to release, whether it is preliminary, as it comes in, or when it is complete. >> okay. >> was his body released to his -- nelson, only full blood relative left? >> his body was released to his family. >> to be clear, you do not have a preliminary cause of death or you are not willing to share it? >> our results are pending. >> what do you expect the timeline to be for your report. >> it could be days depending on type of test and most likely weeks to have the complete set of results available to us. that's whemidwest medical examiner's office would release it. >> sheriff, how many investigators do you currently have working on this and how many agencies are working together to -- [inaudible] >> we've got, you know, three, four agencies that are working on this and i've got a number of detectives that are working on it. this is a very large, let me rephrase that. this is a high-profile case for us but the county continues, life in the county continues to go on and there is also other cases that we have we are currently working on the i'm not sure exactly how many detectives i have working specifically on this case right now. >> sheriff -- >> yes, ma'am? >> so plane landed in illinois, we know that. when he refuse ad room at the hospital and says reports kind of indicate now, are you looking into any -- was there anything unusual at msp or wherever he landed up here that you can talk about or know about. >> i know as much about that currently that, you do from reading the paper. >> i can address that. >> ox, thank you. >> so again, speaking on behalf of our chief medical examiner. when we say we'll be doing a complete exam, that not only includes the present state of the body that is brought to us but also the medical history of the individual, the family medical history of the individual. so those types of things will be encompassed in the medical examiner's report that will be delivered to the sheriff for his investigation. >> which would include reaching back to illinois? >> it will include his medical history, his social history and his family's medical history as well. sir? >> [inaudible] -- get those medical records? >> i would assume they would request them as part of this investigation. >> between us and the medical examiner, absolutely, we do have access to those. >> [inaudible] >> at this point we have not reached out to the bca for assistance with this. >> is the prince family cooperating with this investigation? are they pretty willing and helping? i talked to a couple of family members yesterday and they said they're trying to keep a lot of things kind of quiet. are they working with you in any way? >> yeah. i have had contact with prince's family and prince's representatives and they have been very cooperative. we haven't had any problems with that at all. >> were there no obvious signs of trauma, what does that mean? what would be a sign of trauma? what is it that you're clearing? >> a sign of trauma would be some sign of violence or something violent happened there was no sign at all. >> what happens to paisley park? does very a will. >> that would be up to the estate. i'm not privy to that. >> i have a question. >> hang on one second. >> how long will the sheriff's office maintain a presence out at paisley park? those read ways closed and is there, if so, how long will crowds be allowed to gather outside compound? >> we'll allow crowds to gather as, on paisley park's property there. >> on the street. >> that is part of paisley's property there. we'll allow them to gather as long as paisley park is okay. we'll reevaluate that until monday morning probably anyway and see where we're at and what is going on there. >> road closures, will those continue through monday? >> yes. that road will be closed up until monday. go ahead. >> [inaudible]. could you describe to us exactly what sort of test you will undertake in they i case when there is unwitnessed death? >> is she talking to you? i'm sorry. i will get out of your way. >> so essentially it will be a full panel of tests of the there will be tissue samples done. and there will also be toxicology samples done based on blood draws. that is the most i'm going to about it at some time. >> what types of toxicology tests would you normally undertake in a case. >> the fell spectrum. that is the most i will say about it. >> sheriff, can you talk about the last time he was seen wednesday night at 8:00 p.m.? was he out or seen by members of the staff, out and about in the community? >> somebody dropped him off at home about 8:00 that night. >> sheriff? >> staff members saw him last? >> sheriff -- [inaudible] >> yes, that is correct. it was an acquaint nantz that he was with dropped him off. >> sheriff, was it usual that he would be only occupant of this huge complex? you said staffers tried to get in contact with them him and unable to do that. were there no security personnel? >> prince is very private person. i don't think that would be unusual for him to be there by himself. >> sheriff you mentioned staff was trying to reach him. the person that made the 911 call, do you know their relationship? are you willing to share that. >> 911 caller information is private and i can't share that. >> [inaudible] >> again, 911 callers are private. >> sheriff do you know if the elevator was inspected? >> do you know what he was dressed in at the time? was he in day clothes or sleeping clothes, overnight clothes. >> he was, i can't say i know versus what he may go out in. so i don't know for sure if those were sleep clothes or what type of clothes. >> [inaudible] >> he had on shirt. he had on pants of some sort. he was dressed. >> sheriff, question here. was there an elevator phone and if so, when was the last time this elevator was in in inspected? do you have that kind of information. >> i don't think there was elevator phone. i don't think so. yes? >> [inaudible] >> if there are things that should lead us that direction, sure, we would certainly do that. >> [inaudible] >> poured -- pardon? >> do you know at this stage. >> it is 29 years old our detectives are working on it. >> on that note do you have any additional search warrants and where and when. >> we haven't done any additial at this point. >> prince apparently had other homes. do you know how long he was living at paisley park or that specific home address. >> prince moved around a little bit and would travel quite often. i can't say for sure how long he had been there. by, he did stay there frequently. and, considered that i think his main residence. >> sheriff you said there were, that he did collapse in the elevator. was there any signs he may have hit his head or was it just a simple collapse? >> there were no obvious signs of trauma to the body that we observed. i don't know what the medical examiner found during the autopsy, if anything had showed but there was nothing that indicated obvious sign of trauma ♪ [laughter] [inaudible] >> go ahead, ma'am. >> was there a cell phone there and was there any kind of indication he reached for his cell phone or made any attempt to call for help? >> i don't recall seeing a cell phone in the close proximity. i don't recall a cell phone in the close proximity to where he was at. >> if some of his staff had cell phones would you check their records or see if there were any pictures? >> that would be part of the our investigation. i don't want share that at this time. >> sheriff, did you see the body yourself. >> i was there for a period of time yesterday. >> [inaudible] >> no. i had other things that were boeing on. >> how would you describe the mood at -- mood inside of paisley park at that moment, obviously when prince was dead what was the mood inside? >> it was certainly somber. you know, he, he was a friend i think to the people who was there as well as being an employer and they were certainly shook by what had happened, sure. >> sheriff any -- >> any staff members under investigation? any potential criminal charges? >> this all continues to be under investigation and we're, we'll do a complete and thorough investigation and it is better with this for us to do it well than for us to do it fast. so we're going to do the best job that we can. >> sheriff, i wonder does your department normally carry antidote for heroin or opium overdoses and -- >> all of our officers carry narcan. we've been carrying that approximately for two years. that was not used at all yesterday. i heard somebody over in this direction? >> sure. >> okay. >> the person who did make the 911 call, that from the transcript didn't know the address. did they know the address where they were? >> i don't know that would be unusual with that, for not knowing the address. i mean, i'm sure they knew where it was, a lot of, i'm sure there is probably a number of people out here don't necessarily know the address to their news buildings and so on and i don't think that would be unusual. >> sheriff, would private citizens be allowed to have narcan or -- >> there is currently discussion going on from legislative standpoint. i don't believe the at this point i don't believe private citizens can have narcan. >> only professionals? >> law enforcement fire, can carry it. that was something that went through the legislature last year, year before? >> sheriff. this is question we're going to follow up with, were you a prince fan yourself? did you like his music? >> yeah, certainly, you know, i'm the same age as prince is. and, yeah. know his music well, sure i liked prince's music. yeah. sir? >> was there any music playing when the police arrived, basically what was the last song prince heard? >> i, i did not here any music on in the residence at all. or in the building at all. >> how many employees were there when you arrived? >> three. there were three people that were there. >> are you asking anything from the public? >> you know i would ask for, again, prince was a very private person and i would ask the public and everybody to respect that privacy and treat that with dignity as well as, as well as all of you with that. so. one more question. i'm going to be done. >> are you filing search warrant next week? what is probable cause for that? >> we have 10 days legally in which to file a search warrant with the courts so. and i don't know at this time when that might be done but we have 10 days to do that. i want to thank everybody for coming. this is a, certainly a big event internationally and nationally and i can tell you that we are going to leave no stone unturned with this and make sure that the public knows what happened. so -- >> let me comment too. >> yes, absolutely. >> how many of you were a fan? a lot? >> yeah, of course. >> a lot. i think that, you know, we would like to extend our thanks to everyone for showing such respect for this situation. for, our generation, he was the song book and narrative for some of the greatest moments in our individual lives, much like elvis presley and ira gershwin before him. this is something that we remember and we take very, very seriously and we are appreciate the respect and dignity and outpouring of support that everyone has shown not only to his family but to the law enforcement officers working on this, to the state of minnesota that is so proudly claimed him, and adored him. this is something very gravitas for everyone involved. we appreciate respect been shown by everyone in this situation. >> thank you very much, everybody. >> carver county sheriff jim olson leading a press conference in chaska, minnesota on the death of prince. we learn ad few things. not many. hello, i'm cheryl casone i'm in for melissa francis today. david: i'm david asman. this is "after the bell." a couple of things we learned. one apparently there was no trauma involved in the death of prince. also according to the sheriff there is no reason to believe that this was a suicide. as far as we can tell all the information seemed to point to a accidental overdose of an opiate. >> that is the reports we're getting from "tmz." the entertainment website has been all over the story throughout the day. harvey levin telling fox news last night that he did have an addiction to percocet. also we should say here the autopsy of prince has been completed today. it got underway about 9:00 a.m. central time. wrapped up 1:00 p.m. the body has been released to the family but the toxicology reports on prince's body, the blood, tissue samples, that is going to take weeks days likely but weeks to find out the exact cause of death. also the question was who was the last person to see him t was last night just after 8:00 p.m. he was dropped off in his paisley park residence. that was last sightings of prince until he was discovered by staff members in the elevator on yesterday morning. david: on left sign of your screen you're seeing signs outside of paisley park. the police were very clear. this is a huge compound. paisley park is 65,000 square feet. so it is a lot of territory to cover. apparently they focused their attention on the elevate which prince was found dead. they did try to revive him. those efforts didn't take long to realize it was not possible to revive him. he was declared dead at 9:43 a.m. >> just to add the reporting from "tmz," six days ago before his death yesterday, his plane landed in moline, illinois, and the website "tmz" said he was suffering from a drug overdose at the time and his trip continued on to home. that is the latest details we're getting on death of a music icon that is prince. david: let's move over to politics if we may. we have breaking news, donald trump rally in delaware, let's listen in right now >> when i left the office in dell with wear i asked a couple things. i spend a fortune in delaware. it is a plate place. i said to my people we do a lot of business in delaware. that means a lot things, taxes an everything, i said how many entities registered in delaware. thinking maybe two or three, right? 378. [cheering] so we have 378 entities registered in the state of delaware. meaning i pay you a lot of money folks. i don't feel at all guilty, okay? i don't know. they might be off by a couple but that's about it. they had about 12 minutes to give me the answer. so it could be a little off. you know what it is, it's a lot, all right? good? that's good. all right. [cheering] and it's a great place. they have great people. really they have done corporately an unbelievable job. hello, folks. [cheering] hello, folks. [cheering] >> thank you. still can't believe 378. this mess, we're going to fix it, we're going to fix it fast. real median household income in delaware has declined by more than $10,000. think of it. since 2000. no good, right? no good? [booing] >> i'm doing my share. delaware lost 1/3 of its manufacturing jobs since china entered the world trade organization in 2000. [booing] this region of the state also lost 1/3 of its manufacturing job, same period, china. by the way lyin' ted cruz supports chinese currency cheating. [booing] think of it. he voted against the amendment to try to block currency cheating by china. and ted cruz voted against it and it is the single biggest weapon that china and other countries have against us for just absolutely destroying our businesses. this guy voted against it. it is almost impossible to vote against it if you love our country but you know what happened? somebody got to him and said listen, we want you to vote against it because some company or some country didn't want it. this is with we have running for office. no more, folks. we're going to end it, okay? [cheering] terrible. i actually had to have that one checked. how can you vote bense that? he voted. lyin' ted cruz. delaware was hit very hard by closures of its auto manufacturing plants, right? yes? over the years, including chrysler and gm plants. cruz and kasich support the trans-pacific partnership which will absolutely kill the auto industry in this country. i'm against it. i've been fighting it. [booing] and kasich voted for nafta which is cleaned our clock for years. when he was a congressman. so we can't let that stuff happen, folks. by the way, trans-pacific partnership is worse than nafta. it will be worse. we have to stop it. we're going to stop it. we got to stop it, okay? obama wants it. if obama wants it you know it is no good, okay? [cheering] oh, man, oh, man. couple more and because i hate to do it, like so negative, right? but it doesn't matter. because if i become president we are going to turn it around. we'll make great trade deals. [cheering] we're going to make great trade deals. we'll bring our jobs back. we're going to keep jobs that we have here, believe me. believe me. all right number of food stamp recipients in county has increased six-fold, that's a lot, since 2000. wow. 6,000 food stamp recipients now you have 36,000. come on, fellows. we've got to going here. we'll get it changed. delaware voters concerned about the possible intake of syrian refugees. is that unbelievable? [booing] the state has seen large increases in its foreign-born population. we don't even know where the hell they come from. we don't know where they come from, who they are. they're totally undocumented. and you've seen a large intake, with the problems that we have, you've seen a large intake. do you remember when they said they would only take 3,000. it was 6,000. i said it would be a lot more. i was saying 200,000. you know what? i'm right, okay? we're taking in tens of thousands of people. you know what? we all have heart. we want to take care of that but we don't know where these people are coming from. totally have no documents, totally undocumented. we have enough problems in our country. we've got 19 trillion in debt. we've got a border, the southern border is like a piece of swiss cheese. we'll talk about it. we will build the wall, yes. we will build the wall. [shouting] >> build the wall. build the wall. >> build the wall! build the wall! >> belled build it. we'll build it. who will pay for it? >> mexico! >> 100%. okay? by the way, are we having a good time? [cheering] >> i mean you know we have a great time considering the subject matter is no good, right? but when we say, look at all those hat, make america great again, when we say that, you know somebody, a reporter, by the way the world's most dishonest are back there. look at all cameras going. [booing] look at all those cameras. unbelievable. they are dishonest. not all of them but most of them. although last night bill o'reilly said, because you know this is movement, folks. no matter where we go, there are more people pouring in. look at this place. it's a big place. a lot of people. [cheering] but bill o'reilly on fox said last night, what's happened with trump, it is one of the biggest political events that he has ever seen. [cheering] and in fact, i will go a step further. he actually said it is the biggest event that he has seen in his lifetime. that's a big one, right? he said the biggest political -- and he is a pro, and he is amazing guy and tough and smart. doesn't always treat me great but that's okay but i'll tell you, he said it is the biggest political event he has ever seen in his lifetime. so, i have to tell you that there is something going on that's incredible. no matter where we go, we go to alabama. we had 35,000 people. and we won alabama. we won arkansas. which won kentucky and we won florida and we won south carolina. [cheering] we won new hampshire. and we won connecticut and we won so much. and what did we win two days ag? new york, oh! [cheering] you know what's nice about winning new york, really? not just the fact that it is big and it has got, we won almost every delegate. we won by a massive amount. we had -- 62%. we had three people running and it is almost impossible to break 50 and we got 62%. it really is. you know what is nice about winning new york? those people know me well. you don't know me as well. you take all my money with you will attacks, okay? [laughter]. but i've known delaware for a long time it's a great place. we'll get rid of all the bad stuff we talk about. we're going to get rid of it. we have to do that also at a federal level. you can't allow to policy that allows china and mexico and japan and vietnam and india you, you can't allow policy that allows these businesses to be ripped out of your state like candy from a baby, folks, like candy from a baby. it will all end. we'll talk about that. what is nice about new york, they know me the best. i grew up in new york and been in new york a long time. i've been public, been well-vetted, anything i ever done, if i sneeze it is a big story. but they know me, and they know me well and to win by that kind of of a margin is, not just size of new york even another person from another state, friend of mine called me from another state, the nice part because they know you so well, to win by overwhelming number is great tribute. i just wanted to get over 50. we got a lot over 50. there are a lot of great people in new york. i went over the state, i know new york state well, sir crews, albany, long island, bethpage, we went all over and suffolk county, it is horrible what is going on. you look at, same here, same everywhere. it is interesting because i always ask for these things, you know, this stuff. and i ask for it. and i say, you know the statisticians, they fet it out of the books. they get it out of government books. i say give me the information. so i have done many speeches in many places over the last, you know couple of months. and it is like always the same. the manufacturing jobs are being stolen. our jobs are being taken. we're losing at every front. there's nothing good. our country doesn't win anymore. you just look. it is same thing, whether it's delaware or whether it's syracuse, new york, or whether it's albany. we had 21,000 people in albany show up, incredible people in an arena, great arena. we had 21,000 people. we have thousands and thousands of people show up at every stop. it is always the same. i say get me the information. if the information was good i would like to read it. i would much rather read it than read this stuff. it is always the same the jobs are being stripped. the factories are closing. you ride through some of these communities go from the airport to venue like this you see all of the closures. you see it. you can see it. it was a thriving place 20 years ago, 10 years ago. 30 yearsing a. years ago. it has been stripped. we'll not let it happen anymore, folks, okay? we're not going to be the dummies. we're not going to be the dummies. [shouting] it's terrible. i even said when they gave me statistics, what do i need them for? i have a good memory, all i have to get up and say manufacturing down 30%. it is same thing everywhere. it is same thing everywhere. i don't even blame, in some cases you have to say local politics and local politicians and that is important but the big megadeal what is happening with our country. our leadership is terrible. our leadership is incompetent. we don't know what the hell we're doing. that's right. there is really no leadership. you have a president foes to cuba, watches the game. big tragedy happens. he watches the end of the game. he lands in cuba. [booing] no. he lands in cuba there is nobody there to greet him. here is the difference. no problem with cuba by the way. no problem. time to make a deal. i would like to see a better deal but it's fine. you land in cuba, nobody is there. in the history of the air force one which is pretty long, first time anybody, that plane landed where nobody was there. in other words there was not head of the state, castro or anybody to greet him. he goes to saudi arabia same thing happens. the big leaders are not there to greet him at the plane. you know what i would do? i said, how are we doing? who is here to greet me. i'm the president of the united states. i'm on air force one. who is here? well, we don't have anybody to greet you, mr. president. now obama gets off the plane. here is what i do. pilot, boom, go back to washington. [cheering] no, it's true. go back to washington. and i love the cuban people. i love the saudis. go ahead. go ahead. let's have some fun. it is friday. let's have some fun. [shouting] it's friday. let's have some fun. i have all the time in the world. great people in this country. we're going to have apple and we're going to have companies, you watch -- david: donald trump is in delaware. next tuesday there is kind of a primary. kind of a super tuesday next tuesday. delaware is one among several states that will be choosing delegates. only 16 to choose from in delaware. there other states like pennsylvania which has 71 on tuesday. he canceled pretty much everything else today. he has a lot of businesses registered in delaware. about 378 according to his people. he said he can't believe it is that big but it may be. some of the old phraseology is back too. remember he said senator cruz just recently. now he is back to lyin' ted, even though paul manafort, his new campaign chief, is now essentially saying you will see a new donald. you will see a different guy. one who doesn't use inflammatory language. apparently the language is back but at least for the time-being. let's bring in today's panel, ford o'connell, former mccain campaign director and james freeman of "the wall street journal." ford, it is kind of interesting that you had paul manafort yesterday talking to some of the party bigwigs of gop, saying we'll see, we understand that you guys are upset at donald trump's language, his rhetoric is a little too hard. you will maybe not see kinder gentler donald trump but one that seems a little more presidential. you're not necessarily seeing that today. >> no you're not necessarily seeing it today, the reason is donald trump knows he has to get 100 delegates on april 26th and delaware is a part of that. he can not abandon that white working class message. basically it carried him throughout this entire primary. i will say this, i'm not sure donald trump is necessarily playing a part as his advisors say but presidential campaign vet, i can tell you once he seals the nomination away he will need a second act. david: james, there are some people, some. people are very friendly, editorial page of journal where you look, like art laffer, who says, for example, this guy once he gets serious about his policies, specifics on the policy he will come out with a plan that will rival ronald reagan's in terms of turning this country around economically. do you buy into that? >> no, i don't and i think you have to ask yourself, how often does a front-runner in late april say the person you've been seeing all these months is not the real me. you're going to see the good me in future campaign appearances? they have a problem. most republicans still don't want donald trump. david: but, art laffer is not just a republican. art laffer is, one of the founders of the economic policies of ronald reagan. much of which he put out as a blueprint on the editorial page of "the wall street journal." >> sure. if art laffer was on the ballot i would vote for him. david: art laffer is proxy, he says trump has got a pretty good plan. >> no. it is not. even art laffer would concede if you're talking about economic growth per dollar of tax cut, the trump plan is not that great. david: james, i hate to disagree with you, but just talked to him. he said something very different, that in fact it was a good economic plan. james and ford, we could go on. unfortunately because of all these breaking news stories we have to end it there. thank you, guys. >> thank you. cheryl: donald trump's key advisors are making nice with the gop, stop is still blaming what he calls a rigged system. karl rove plays in how this place out come convention this summer. ♪ i'm only in my 60's. i've got a nice long life ahead. big plans. so when i found out medicare doesn't pay all my medical expenses, i looked at my options. then i got a medicare supplement insurance plan. "risk & reward" is right now. >> what let's have some fun. it's friday, let's have some fun. >> trump, trump, trump, trump. deirdre: donald trump just moments ago. he is still speaking right there in delaware. we're monitoring that event for developments. this is "risk & reward." delaware one of the five states in contest on tuesday. 118 gop delegates are up for grabs in the northeastern states. so 15 state primaries to go and 40 days before the republican convention in july. competition is intense.

continues to be under investigation. there are some things regarding this investigation that i will not be able to talk about. i'm going to give you a statement and we will then take some questions that you may have at about 9:43 yesterday morning we received a medical at paisley park in chanhassen. chanhassen fire, car per county's sheriff's office all responded to the call -- car pe. they found unresponsive male in the elevator. cpr was initially started but was unsuccessful. he was pronounced deceased at 10:07. we have identified him as prince rogers nelson. , 57 years old. staff members from paisley park had been able to, had been unable to contact prince yesterday morning and went to check on him. they found him unresponsive and called 911. deputies went through the building to make sure there was nobody else inside. because this was an unwitnessed death of a middle-aged adult, the decision was made to process the scene. that is also normal protocol. it is not different from what we normally would do. there should be no, we ended up contacting the hampton county crime lab to help us with that. and there should be no inference taken from that. that is not unusual for them to come out and do those types of calls. we finished with our processing late yesterday afternoon and turned paisley park back over to prince's representatives. again because this investigation is ongoing i will not be i will not be answering questions whether or not there were items taken during our processing. the midwestern medical examine ear's office was contacted and dr. qiinn stroebel who is carber county medical examiner responded. no obvious signs of trauma. the body was transported to the doctor's office for an autopsy and that is being done today. results from that autopsy may take several weeks which is not unusual. again this will continue to be an open investigation until the autopsy results come back and we are ready to take questions that you may have. >> [inaudible] >> at this point we have not reached out to the bca for assistance with this. >> is the prince family cooperating with this investigation? are they pretty willing and helping? i talked to a couple of family members yesterday and they said they're trying to keep a lot of things kind of quiet. are they working with you in any way? >> yeah. i have had contact with prince's family and prince's representatives and they have been very cooperative. we haven't had any problems with that at all. >> were there no obvious signs of trauma, what does that mean? what would be a sign of trauma? what is it that you're clearing? >> a sign of trauma would be some sign of violence or something violent happened there was no sign at all. >> what happens to paisley park? does very a will. >> that would be up to the estate. i'm not privy to that. >> i have a question. >> hang on one second. >> how long will the sheriff's office maintain a presence out at paisley park? those read ways closed and is there, if so, how long will crowds be allowed to gather outside compound? >> we'll allow crowds to gather as, on paisley park's property there. >> on the street. >> that is part of paisley's property there. we'll allow them to gather as long as paisley park is okay. we'll reevaluate that until monday morning probably anyway and see where we're at and what is going on there. >> road closures, will those continue through monday? >> yes. that road will be closed up until monday. go ahead. >> [inaudible]. could you describe to us exactly what sort of test you will undertake in they i case when there is unwitnessed death? >> is she talking to you? what is probable cause for that? >> we have 10 days legally in which to file a search warrant with the courts so. and i don't know at this time when that might be done but we have 10 days to do that. i want to thank everybody for coming. this is a, certainly a big event internationally and nationally and i can tell you that we are going to leave no stone unturned with this and make sure that the public knows what happened. so -- >> let me comment too. >> yes, absolutely. >> how many of you were a fan? a lot? >> yeah, of course. >> a lot. i think that, you know, we would like to extend our thanks to everyone for showing such respect for this situation. for, our generation, he was the song book and narrative for some of the greatest moments in our individual lives, much like elvis presley and ira gershwin before him. this is something that we remember and we take very, very seriously and we are appreciate the respect and dignity and outpouring of support that everyone has shown not only to his family but to the law enforcement officers working on this, to the state of minnesota that is so proudly claimed him, and adored him. this is something very gravitas for everyone involved. we appreciate respect been shown by everyone in this situation. >> thank you very much, everybody. >> carver county sheriff jim olson leading a press conference in chaska, minnesota on the death of prince. we learn ad few things. not many. hello, i'm cheryl casone i'm in for melissa francis today. david: i'm david asman. this is "after the bell." a couple of things we learned. one apparently there was no trauma involved in the death of prince. also according to the sheriff there is no reason to believe that this was a suicide. as far as we can tell all the information seemed to point to a accidental overdose of an opiate. >> that is the reports we're getting from "tmz." the entertainment website has been all over the story throughout the day. harvey levin telling fox news last night that he did have an addiction to percocet. also we should say here the autopsy of prince has been completed today. it got underway about 9:00 a.m. central time. wrapped up 1:00 p.m. the body has been released to the family but the toxicology reports on prince's body, the blood, tissue samples, that is going to take weeks days likely but weeks to find out the exact cause of death. also the question was who was the last person to see him t was last night just after 8:00 p.m. he was dropped off in his paisley park residence. that was last sightings of prince until he was discovered by staff members in the elevator on yesterday morning. david: on left sign of your screen you're seeing signs outside of paisley park. the police were very clear. this is a huge compound. paisley park is 65,000 square feet. so it is a lot of territory to cover. apparently they focused their attention on the elevate which prince was found dead. they did try to revive him. those efforts didn't take long to realize it was not possible to revive him. he was declared dead at 9:43 a.m. >> just to add the reporting from "tmz," six days ago before his death yesterday, his plane landed in moline, illinois, and the website "tmz" said he was suffering from a drug overdose at the time and his trip continued on to home. that is the latest details we're getting on death of a music icon that is prince. david: let's move over to politics if we may. we have breaking news, donald trump rally in delaware, let's listen in right now >> when i left the office in dell with wear i asked a couple things. i spend a fortune in delaware. it is a plate place. i said to my people we do a lot of business in delaware. that means a lot things, taxes an everything, i said how many entities registered in delaware. thinking maybe two or three, right?
