We know we can be at the forefront to fight for criminal Justice Reforms that make our city and nation fair. We have worked with brothers and sisters to pass a minimum wage. We call upon the nation to do the same. We know we cant have a proper city we are proud of if more washingtonians participate in it. Committed toe are more Affordable Housing than ever. We know we have to stand up for the rights of women and girls, of our Lgbt Community. Of anybody that would be threatened or scared. Stand upking you to for us on this issue. You will remember he said five decades ago, if you cant fly you should run. If you cant walk you should crawl. Means, keep moving. Keep moving National Action network and washington d c is right here with you. Now for our indication, he is the Senior Pastor of the church in brooklyn, where dr. William jones baptized reverend sharpton, it is his home church. We are grateful to have them with us. Let us center ourselves. Eternal god, grand architect of this universe, we thank you for this day, we thank you for this Beautiful Day. A day to resolve our determination to stand for justice. King we thank you for his legacy that continues through the National Action network and through reverend al sharpton. We pray for those who have gathered across this country and stand for equality and freedom. In your name we pray amen. Let us receive my colleague of the west coast Regional National ork, the reverend no justice. No justice. Sisters, it is a Beautiful Day as i look amongst you. One of the things i recognize his god is alive and well. I spoke to him earlier this morning and he assures me everything is going to be all right. Today, know about you but today we have come to send a strong message to this nation, that we shall overcome, that we shall not be moved. We come this morning from the west coast, from the east coast, from the north to the south to send a strong message to make some noise and let this world no that we will not bow down, we will not take a stand we will not bow down, that we will take a stand, that we will march. I dont know about you today, but i am excited he can is an look amongst these beautiful people, as i look amongst you i see the audacity of hope. I see individuals ready to get into the street. I see individuals ready to raise their voice. Boys we three hebrew are not going to bow down. We are going to move with the vigor of god. We are going to speak truth to power. We have seen what this world is coming to. Here we are 14 days into a brandnew year. Message thatnd a these officials you are appointing to these national positions, they will hear from us. The sad thing is he dont sound good. Are you ready to fight . Are you ready to win . Make some noise. Make some noise. Keep it alive. My brothers and colleagues, the midwest regional director and the Senior Pastor of King Solomon Baptist Church in , let us receive dr. Charles williams. It, it isme is fighting time. Let me hear you. What time is it . Justice, no justice. What do we want to . When do we want it . Let me hear you make some noise. We stand here in the shadows of the washington monument. We stand in the shadows of dr. Martin luther king jr. s monument. But we dont stand here because we just deserve. Somebody had to pay a price. Is we had theion opportunity to stand here now. But are we willing to stand up and fight back so that those who come after us get the opportunity to stand here . The question is are we willing to fight to make sure that we hold on to health care . Fight to make to sure that every man and woman has the opportunity and access to jobs . Are we willing to stand and fight the racist police that continue to reign terror on our boys in cities across america . If we fight we win. When we dont, we wont. Although we are happy to be in the real fighty, is the fight we must fight when we go back home. Is the troy to pennsylvania, philadelphia. Whether it is in washington dc, whether it is in new york, that must go back with us. And if we fight we win. One of the reasons i have a lot of faith in our future is because our future is in the of people like my young sister, who was a student in filming college, carrying throughout atlanta and georgia. She is our National Youth and carries that message across the nation. She is a millennial leader in her own right, let us receive my sister. [applause] i think it is important that i acknowledge the fact that millennials organized this march with the assistance of reverend sharpton. They organized this march and they deserve that acknowledgment. David carter, ashley sharpton. Some. I may be forgetting i could go on and on about millennials across the country that put this together. As always, please give these young people a round of applause. I cant help but to think about the woman who at this very sexuallye being assaulted and they have to face their rapist because their people advocating to end the safe abortions in our country. But think about the africanamerican teenager today that lost their lives due to gun violence. Health of mye loved ones, who no longer have health care because they are trying to repeal the Affordable Care act. While these issues may seem different to you, the truth is that cannot be any further from the truth. That we had a dream could all stand together in unity and Work Together. Recently all i am seeing in the news and media is divisive miss. In order for us to move forward there needs to be unity. There is a war on women in this country, a war on black and brown values in this country, a war on justice in this country. So today we stand here to tell sessions, andjeff everybody else in his administration that we will not be moved. Immigrants are working together, standing together in unity. And the spirit of dr. Martin luther king. And so many great people. Today we need to understand it is not donald trump we need to worry about. All politics are local. To find it in your self to go back home. And keep up the fight for four years. It is our duty to fight for our freedom. It is our duty to win. Other andve each protect each other. Lose but ourng to chains. Thank you. The liberation seeker. He is the people preacher. He is the founder and president of the National Action network and he is the one who calls us to be here today to send a message to those that will come tomorrow. They will receive at this time the president and founder of the National Knack National Action network. Reverend dr. Al sharpton. No justice. No justice. No justice. What do we want to . What do we want to . What do we want to . When do we want it . When do we want it . When do we want it . When do we want it . , we wont goack back, we wont go back. , we wont, we wont. We wont go back. We are gathered here and we march in the driving range, because we want this nation to that what has been that your in gains, are going to need more than one election to turn it around. We have called this march on for nonnegotiable issues. Voting rights, criminal justice and Police Reform, equal and , and theomic justice Affordable Care act. We come to washington from all over this country. Look at this crowd in the rain. We come not to appeal to donald trump. He has made it clear what his policies are. We come to the democrats and the senate and in the house and into the moderate republicans to get some backbone. Get some glut get some guts. We didnt send you down here to be weak kneed and get in the room and try to make friends. To stand up for senior citizens, to stand up for students. To stand up for victims of police abuse. We are not going to compromise on those things. Tomorrow there is action all over the country. Then as we see the votes on confirmation, taking the lift today. We are going to visit them right before the boat. We need to make some housecalls. We needed to stay a little while. Dr. King died fighting for these rights. That is why we came to the king memorial. Saying that session should be on the federal bench. We only do to her to have a rule called on those that would put him in the Justice Department. You are not getting a pass, we want the world to see if you sell us out we are going to let everybody know who you are. When we look at the facts that whene confirmation hearing he was sitting there if you support folder id support voter id why did you allow 37 in alabama where they could get their id . The close them right after the Supreme Court decision. Eight of the top 10 black counties closed them. You didnt say anything about it senator. You cannot be the head of the Justice Department and protect are rocking the vote. You said you were against federal intervention and federal people getting involved in local cases. In baltimore, a reporter in chicago, he would stop. Are not here because we didnt have Something Else to do. We are here because we fought hard. We are not going away now. Criminal justice and Police Reform must go forward. I saw on the front page of the Washington Post about the case of i thought about how in this is the casertment shot on the back and video, where the federal case, all of the reenlivening of it, the revival love it started with a young boy with nothing but skittles and iced tea in his hand, going home to his daddy. And they wouldnt even arrest the assailant. And stood up for trayvon martin. We are going to stand up for eric garner. We are going to stand up for walter scott. President s, but we are going to switch legs. We wont back down. We wont be tromped. We wont be trumped. You to join me in welcoming the stage, the face of these movements, the mother of trayvon martin, the mother of eric garner, and the brother walter scott, they came to march with us today. We will not be moved. The media likes to put out their friends. We work with the families. That have suffered. We have been with sabrina from the beginning. We have been with walter scott and we are going to see that till the end. He was one of the young men that donald trump said he should be executed. We march for him. We stood for him. After finally exonerated 13 years in jail. We gave him a job we are still here. One of the central park five. Fight trump. O a man shot and killed with a question of mentality in San Diego California. His father joins us. These are the cases to make sure they have backbone to deal with. Families hear from the and members of the senate, a couple that would come with us. Think thatnt you to you came all this distance just for parade. How many are you ready to make housecalls . How many are ready for the day to go in and have a session on sessions at your office . We want to break it down state by state. Call it sessions for session. Then we started away. We called it a summit since the Public Sector has in closing on us. We need to select the private sector, the companies violating our principles. To have a Going National withdrawal of our dollars. We will make sure the private sector balances out the Public Sector. We will cut you off at home. Mother of trayvon martin. Say he stood with me. We should not be moved. Although it was my son who shot say led, i want you to i want you to have the same compassion for me as if it was your child. It is so very important we look out for our young people. They cant defend themselves. I continue this fight because my son was shot down and it made me stand up. Wont you stand up and make a difference to your community . Thank you and god bless you. The mother of eric garner. Thank you, everyone. We all need to be here. This is not the end. When we leave here we have work to do. They stand with us when the lights are on and when they go out. Go back tou when you your home, it will be like nothing happened. There are things at stake that we have to address. Our Voting Rights. We must not embarrass our forefathers by letting them take the voting right. We will not stand by quietly. Why we manipulated the Voting Rights. Died, our blood is on that bill. We must uphold them. And our civil rights, the right to a living wage, we must have the first two or three jobs to get the minimum. Everyone deserves a living wage. Why do they think we are any less, the 60 million getting less than a living wage. We dont want the minimum wage, we want a living wage. We want for women. Women are being paid . 67 to every dollar that a man is making. We do the best work. We should get paid accordingly. We must remember we must demand the way that we want our community to be policed. We must demand that they respect human life better than they do. That theymand communed sentences for people with low crimes who they are keeping in jail for two or three lifetimes. For what . We have to stand together on this. Hisobamacare that was pet project. We cannot allow that to be abolished. Sayill not stand here and let them take it. No. The election. We did not lose our minds. And wegoing to stand up, are going to push back. We are going to tell our senators and policy men stand with us if you want our vote. I think you all so much. Thank you all so much. Ofwe all saw the video walter scott. A man shot in his back while running away. The sunday after he was shot, i went to North Charleston with reverend rivers and we had a prayer vigil at that spot. The man we had lead us in prayer was reverend pinckney. He was one ofer, the nine People Killed in his church in charleston. There is too much going on to play games with the Justice Department. In the Justice Department is this case of walter scott. His family is just like the gardener family. They had advocated for nothing except asking for justice. They have not called for one word of hate or act of violence. The question, mr. Trump, is not how we act. The question is how are you all going to act about justice . How are you going to act for the people. How are you going to stand up and make America Great when you can see people moved out mowed down in a church during bible class and forgive the killer. Tweeting in the middle of the night is not make you great. Hate is when you can look in the face and refuse to hate and become alike the hader hater. I bring you brother scott. I am the youngest brother of walter scott. Mother, unfortunately, could not be here today. She wanted to be here, but her health caused her to not be able to be here. It is not over until it is over. We sat in the courtroom for seven weeks asking for justice in the peaceful. I do not know about you, but i can being peaceful. I am tired of being peaceful. Justice is deserved for all mankind. Of course, we are going to have to do it again. We have a trial again in march. We would like for your support again for myself and my family. We want justice, and we are going to stand together. Like my mother said, it is not over until god says it is over. Thank you again, scott family. Let us hear from richard a longo, the father of alfred a go of San Diego California san diego, california. Hello . Hello . Are you guys awake . Are you awake . When i say arambe, you should say arambe. Arambe. Arambe. When my shot my son was shot by richard gonzales, a war has been declared on humanity. The federal line has been drawn. , it is are fighting call to move forward. We cannot move backward. My son was killed because of his black skin. He should not have been shot. If youlice officer stabilize my son, he would have only shot with one bullet. He shot with five bullets. He wanted to kill. I get very annoyed when i remember that my son is killed. He was looking for protection and safety. When i brought my son to america , the country where i came to look for justice is where my son was killed. It is a big contradiction. I do not understand it. We have to fight. We must be ready to fight. Join us. We fight to win. Win. Ll went arambe. Arambe. Arambe. Arambe. Thank you. One senator who has stood up to fight and has marched with us today, United States senator sen. Or gone oregon, murphy. Give him a hand. Do we want . Justice. When do we want it . I know you are all ready to march in the cold. Are you ready to march on cop at all hill capitol hill . Are you willing to say to the powerful that you want the end of racial profiling. We want the end of mass incarceration. We want Quality Health care for every american. King said luther there is a dark and desolate valley, but we must go to the sunlit path of justice. Are you ready to go on that path . What are the first three words of our constitution . We the people. It is not we the powerful. What is it . It is not we the privileged. It is we the people. So let us march onto capitol hill and go to every senate demanded that we want that sunlit path of justice for every american. Thurgood marshall on the Supreme Court, the first africanamerican to serve, he said that we must not say it is ok to have indifference. There is a better path, a better america. Let us fight for that better america. I am proud to stand with you. Thank you. [applause] senator murphy. Give him a hand. [applause] my nationaln of colleagues, leader let me first bring in the mayor. F new york, new jersey mayor ross baraka. No justice. No justice. No justice. We shut it all the way from newark, new jersey. Newark is inork the house. We are here to say that we will not be moved. Later here some 50 years after dr. Martin luther king jr. Brought us down here to cash a. Heck we are here 50 years later trying to cash that same check. We are here tried to get what we deserve in this place. We are here to tell them that we shall not be moved. Because ofnot great donald trump. Becauseis great millions of people flock to end slavery. Because we stop to show the world we would defeat jim crow. Great because we worked to destroy slavery in the south. Great because we march the streets. We shed our blood and we did not sit down in the face of tyranny and oppression. America is great because the people have made it great. Down, but i amit a part of a majority. In majority of americans that want an increase in minimum wage. The majority of americans who want criminal Justice Reform. The majority of americans who want Affordable Health care. The majority of americans who reform. Minal justice the majority of americans who did not vote for donald trump. I stand with the majority and not the minority. I did not lose. I won. My god is not a loser. My god is a winner. I stand with those who one. Victory for the oppressed. When we fight we win. When we fight we win. [applause] raz baraka. Steffi . Reverend teaching them how to preach a to preach am how little. Now to bring on Park National civil rights leaders. They are all here. They are a united front. I want to bring in the chairman of our board who will introduce each of them. Our laboren have leaders. We have a warmup to get you home from the one and only reverend dr. Michael dyson. Reverend franklin richards. We want to celebrate the leadership of reverend sharpton. Let us give him some love as he has provided leadership. [applause] i am glad to be here to join all of us as we come across the country to be a part of an important statement of a rejection of those things that would strive to hold us back. This is a time when the cabinet will not look at all like america. All billionaires and all white men. The exception being one white woman and one nonwhite man. This is the first time in the history of america where we have the first russian president of the United States of america. [laughter] important that the Africanamerican Community is not violent. That is why this march is important. There will be other marches. This march is important because we, as a community, are standing up and saying that we shall not be moved. We will not turn back the clock. Is gratefuletwork to have our partners in civil rights to join us. We understand that the of civil rights cannot be handled by one, single organization, but only by a collaboration of people who have a heart or justice. Today, we have a wonderful quandary Wonderful Group of leaders joining us. One man represents an organization that has been in the struggle for a long time. He has been very articulate. It is my joy to welcome the president of the National Urban the. Urban league. No justice. No peace. No justice. No peace. I know the rain is coming. In that spirit, i will try to set the tone to be as brief as possible. , ourthan 50 years ago forefathers and for mothers thisothers gathered on mall to set forth under dr. Kings leadership a vision for the future of this nation. Just four years ago, we gathered to celebratemall the 50th anniversary of that march. When we did it, it was a joyous day. We had present with us the first africanamerican president in the history of the United States. Later, we face an uncertain and unknown future. We must send the strongest possible message today that just because an election has taken wece does not change what believe in or stand for or what our vision for this nation is. Our vision for this nation, as civil rights leaders and human rights leaders combined, is a vision of in america without hate. It is a vision of america with Economic Opportunity for all. It is a vision of america with properly funded Public Schools that educate every child. It is a vision for america where health care is not a privilege but a right. It is a vision for america that says whether you are black or white or hispanic or asian or manve or day or straight or or woman, this nation is your nation. This is our nation. There has been a great call to make America Great. , make America Great for everyone make America Great for the lockout and left out. Great for the child down in alabama seeking to become a great person. Make America Great for the young man or young woman in the bronx or in chicago. Make America Great for everyone. Let us say that today is the beginning. We will be part of this new movement for resistance in america. Tot we resist is any effort turn back the hands of time. , this is aneration moment not of comfort or convenience, but a moment of challenge and controversy. Where do we stand . We must stand and say loudly, we will not be moved. [applause] thank you, mark. One of our partners that has been sustaining across the years has been the naacp. We are happy to have the as heent of the naacp comes to give a word to us today. [cheering] good morning. Morning. Good morning. Good morning. Im going to ask if there is anyone here who appreciate the leadership of the reverend al sharpton in the National Action network. I wanted to put your hands together resoundingly. [applause] is a brother who has gone to jail for his people, has stood up for his people, has continued to stand by his people. But your hands together for the reverend al sharpton. Of the leadership and membership of the naacp, i am reminded that on this morning , and thereand rainy are some who believe we have frozen in apathy. Opponent thatour our hearts are warm with courage and conviction. Warm with conscience. One with determination. Warm with resolve. We are not giving up. We are not giving in. Were not giving over. We will stand and stand and stand for our rights. The late Supreme Court Justice Harry blackmun said a chill wind blows all across this republic. There is a chill wind that blows. Womenl wind of fear for who heard a candidate for the presidency talk in the most vulgar terms of grabbing a womans genitalia. The fear is that this is not theaign rhetoric, but promise of an administration reality. This is a campaign in which we regularize. Homophobia routinized. Which we areign in over and over and over again our people are being marginalized. Our people being other rise otherized. The disabled being made fun of. Many of us made to feel disrespected. The president elect referred to in icon of the civil rights ement who came her loosely perilously close of becoming a model of the Civil Rights Movement being representative john lewis. The president elect said that he was all talk and no action. Disrespected. Members of the Congressional Black Caucus invited and summoned to testify before the house judiciary committee, relegated to being laughed. No questions asked. As one representative put it, they were asked to answer to the back door. Disrespected. Point . We missed the seeing a senator from the state of South Carolina referred to the naacp as a partisan organization because we gave him a failing grade. Let me say to representative lindsey graham, you get an f from the naacp because you failed on civil rights and on america. If you want to improve your , then you are in need of remedial education. I simply ask that you stand with man and the naacp with these brothers and sisters who stand for this country. And so, we are here on the eve of this holiday and the and inauguration of donald j. Trump. There are some who wants to come and celebrate the holiday. Let me remind you that the holiday is not a holiday from social justice. It is established for social justice. Let me remind you that when you look across this country, you seek millennial activists who are putting their hearts, their minds, their bodies on the line. That in the works of shakespeare, now is the winter of our discontent. Their mouths crying out lack life matter black lives matter. That it is the predicate to all lives matter. Unless the first is true, the second cannot be true. Were not going to allow you to overpopulate jails and prisons while depopulating our homes and communities. We are going to stand up for our rights. We are putting the administration on notice that we are going to the hill, to these congressional offices on the hill and back home, and we are going to tell them that you have to stand for policies that bring this era of mass incarceration to an end. You will stand for policies that will strengthen the Voting Rights act. You will strengthen policies to help our people our children go to college and not to jail. You are going to stand for policies so we do not have to have so many mothers behind this podium crying for their sons and daughters. Im going to leave you with this about the parable state we are in. A man by the name of mr. Evans came home at the end of a long his practice to disembark his car on the knownger side because of assassins. He got out on the driver side because he was tired. When he got out of the car, and assassin fired bullets into his body. As he lay dying, his dying words send me up and turn me loose zip me up and turn me loose. And turn me loose. We remind you that we are marching in the cold and rain and in the midst of this winter of discontent. We will march until hell freezes over, and when it does we will march on the ice. Stand up and fight. Stand up and fight. Stand up and fight. Stand up and fight. [applause] [cheering] we continue with our partners in civil rights. We want to welcome our sister who is the president of the council. Let us give her some love as she comes up. [applause] thank you so much. It is an honor to be here today on hollowed ground in the shadow of dr. Martin luther king jr. s memorial. Someone who had a dream that spoke to everyone. It was a universal dream. Dr. King was not only a civil rights icon. He was a Great American and patriot. Ideas onthe values and which our great country was founded. He spent his life working to make sure our nation lived up to the values and ideas for all americans ideals for all americans. We too, gathered here today, are patriots and believe deeply in this country, its ideals, and its institutions. We have a message for president elect trump as we gather looking for that dream still to be realized. We expect you, mr. President elect, to be the president for all americans not just the ones who voted for you. We expect you to stop targeting our communities as you did through your campaign. If not, you can expect us to stand up and protect and defend our communities at every turn. You can expect all of us here today to be reunited to be united. Sisters, thers and Brown Brothers and sisters, yellow brothers and sisters, read brothers and sisters, all of us bowing to protect the american ideals that we believe in with every fiber of our being. As this administration attempts to further compromised the right to we will stand up and protect our civil rights. Backey try to roll marriage equality, we will protect and defend our lgbt brothers and sisters. If they try to put the Islamic Community on a registry, we will protect and defend our muslim brothers and sisters. If they try to repeal the Affordable Care act, we will protect and defend health care for the millions of americans who need it. Administration tries to end a program that barack obama stood up for that protected young people who came to this no fault ofugh their own and who are americans ,n every way from our dreamers if he comes after those who have been living in the shadows and does not provide an opportunity, we will protect those who are the dreamers and want to be aspiring americans. Protecting and defending all of us will not be easy, but if we are together, united in our cause, we will be unstoppable. Are you ready . Are you ready . We will be unstoppable. Onward. Thank you so much. [applause] notice thatu to each one of you is important. Your being here is sending a message to the nation. Richart robinson is going to speak to us now. How are we doing out in this rain today . I want to thank the reverend al sharpton and the National Action network for inviting me here today to bring a message from , black folks and our allies of every race who will stand up and fight back against this administration. It is not just fighting back against this administration. They will get their power from the enablers across society, from the media who send is big news or use false equivalency, from corporations who recognize that this is an opportunity to buy out and take back what we have wanted for generations. Who may not have the backbone in this moment but will need our vote two years and four years from now, to the republican who thinks they can govern without our vote for my work has to be across so many different spectrums. I have this quote on my wall at home and in my office. It is something i carry with me. It is a quote from frederick douglass. There is no progress without a struggle. Yete who profess freedom they wanttation rain without thunder and lightning. These next several years will make all of us uncomfortable and if we do not stand up and stand with ourin solidarity muslim brothers and sisters and our immigrant brothers and sisters and lgbt folks and women across many different sectors black folks are part of all those communities as well. Andave to use Technology Tools and invite young people into these conversations in a new way. Election thatf an was incredibly disappointing. That come at the same time color of change has stood with black lives matter activists and civil rights activist, standing for the power to change these rules, we also challenge district attorneys who did not melt you black life. We picked to seven elections and we won five of them. Alarmist parties in places like houston and chicago. This is the work we have to do, not just at the national level, but at the look level come to tell people that you will respect us, you will respect our rights and we will change the rules, not just the rules of culture, but the rules of policy. We must do this Work Together until justice israel. That is real until justice is real. Thank you very much. [applause] we are happy to have one of our leaders in this struggle, melanie campbell, president of the National Coalition of black civil participation. Justice no peace. Are you ready for the fight . Are you ready for the fight for justice . Are you ready for the fight for womens rights . For labor rights . Is kernel Justice Reform criminal Justice Reform for criminal Justice Reform . Are you really ready for the fight . We have make your that every republican in the congress, and incoming president , the governors in all these red states are not partisan. To thenot going back time of segregation. Know we have sisters here daughters and signs that are counting on us not to be scared. We know folks will come at us. Serve stands with me. He is our high reverend. Sure that dont be scared. He has our back. The power of our vote gave sister Hillary Clinton 90 of our vote. We will stand in solidarity. I will ask you one more time, are you ready for the fight . Peace and power. Thank you. [applause] give yourselves a hand. You are wonderful to you are making this a significant. Celebrate now. We are all here, we are all important. We are all significant. Im president of the American Federation of Government Employees of color. Good afternoon, brothers and sisters. Federalll you, 700,000 workers are ready for the fight. Ready for the fight. We will keep delivering Social Security checks, we will keep taking care of veterans, we will see that people have fair housing and we will stand up to an administration that pushes back. I can promise you that. The theme of this rally, we shall not be moved. Way to honor dr. King. It is time that we do not allow the Labor Movement to be moved back in this country. Thes time that we stop eroding of labor rights of public employees. Dr. King did not view civil rights, Voting Rights and union columns. Three he viewed them as one right, the right of the people. Today, ipromise to you make a promise to reverend al sharpton and the National Action network, the Labor Movement will be out there. We will be joined at the hip every day of our lives. , brothersght because and sisters, the american Labor Movement and the American Federation of government moved. Es shall not be not now, not ever. We arey that tries opening up one giant can of whoop ass on every one of them. [applause] you fired up . Fired up . [applause] senator nina turner of ohio is going to represent senator bernie sanders. [applause] brothers, and brothers and sisters, i have the joy of being here with you on this rainy afternoon. Im so glad that reverend al sharpton did not stop this because this is just a little ancestorsat our had to endure. , but we donte have selling your mama, your kids and your daddy on the block type of trouble. This moment reminds me of a spiritual song in the africanamerican tradition, how i got over, my soul looks back and wonders how i got over. Sisters and brothers, we know we got over by the blood, the sweat , somee tears of heroes whose names we hear and some whose names we do not know. We have been here before. The only difference is we have some company. We have our gay and lesbian sisters and brothers with us this time. We have our hispanic, asian, native american sisters and brothers with us this time. Here onot have gotten the same ship, but we are in the same boat right now. We happen here before. We have been here before. I want you to take solace in these words. We must accept finite disappointment but never lose infinite hope. The valley may be lower, but weve been here before. The mountain might be higher, but weve been here before. Justiceion for social and Economic Justice and and, sisters, ice we want our whole damn dollar the mission is so low, we cannot get under it. The mission is so wide, we cannot get around it. We might be disappointed, but we have been here before. As sure as there is a god in heaven, he is more powerful than any man, we cannot forget where we have come from. Sisters and brothers come i want to leave you with these three things. Number one, the creator has given us two hands. One to reach forward and want to reach back and lift as we climb. We cannot ask other folks to do more for us than we are willing to do for ourselves. Lastly, in the words of my grandmother, who was born in 1913, cannot read or write, but she could counter money. Her she could count her money. When i asked grandma what it takes to be successful in life, she said all you need are the three bones. The wishbone, the jawbone and the backbone. The with bone keep you hoping and praying because hope is the motivator. The dream is the driver. The jawbone will give you courage to speak truth to power. The most important bone of them the backbone. It will keep you standing through your trials and tribulations guess what, sisters and brothers . We cannot have a testimony without a test. We are being tested right now on whether or not we have courage enough, hope enough, quite enough fight enough to do what is necessary. Hallelujah. [applause] yeah, yeah, yeah. [applause] yes. Nowhappy to bring forward one of the most prolific voices in america today. Theother who has captured multiple dimensions of our cultural experience and articulates in the nuances of our transition. A brother who has spoken with power all over the world. A friend to the movement, a voice for the struggle. Our friend come our brother, erend Michael Irving tyson our friend, our brother, a professor at georgetown university. What an honor it is to be here today at this magnificent and incredible and powerful march of conscience for people around this country. All the great leaders who are , especially the sharpton, give him the love that he deserves. [applause] thee are about to witness first popular presidency. Belligerence, bellicose and bullying. Unmolested by enlightenment. Addicted to the United States of amnesia. He refused to study his history. He is here in a moment of incredible importance and yet, he lacks the gravitas and the study and the scholarship and the air edition and the insight and the courage and the heart to bear witness to the truth. He has put in place of our ocracy. Ent a baron millionaires and billionaires without competence. Just because you have a bunch of money doesnt know wh mean you w what youre doing. Pocketss wall but brain on empty. President elect who is unconscious of the deed and profound waters that have washed over our lives. We will not be moved. We are not going back. All of this incompetence, dont ever again say you are against socalled preferential treatment and the words affirmative action. We have the most incompetent, incapable people putting in place to run the government, mostly white men and some white women and a brother. The reality is that we must dig deep. We must remember that we are all in this together. Gay and straight and lesbian and transgender and bisexual. Christian and muslim, black and white. We are told that this is the revenge of the white working class. I love the white working class, but there is a black workingclass and a brown workingclass and a yellow and red workingclass. We are all in this together. What we must tell our White Brothers and sisters here, you have to learn from us as well. Dont be hoodwinked and snookered by investing in White Supremacy and bigotry. You have to push beyond that to understand we are all in this together. I will end by saying this. I have a new book coming out. I try to say to my White Brothers and sisters, disinvest in your innocence. This invest in your amnesia, disinvest in your fragility and learn that you and i must struggle together. Mouse once looking through the crack in the wall and he saw people, the mother and father what is in that package . It must be new food. When they opened it up, it was a mousetrap. The mouse ran back to the barnyard and told the chicken. They have a mousetrap out there. The chicken said that has nothing to do with me. Went to the big and said theres a mousetrap. The pigs that i will be that said i will be praying for you. When up to the cow and said there is a mousetrap back there. The cow said holler at me later. Later on, the mouse went back to the house and heard a big noise and the mousetrap got something. It turned out to be a venomous snake. The snake bit her. Her husband rushed her to the doctor. The doctor tried to help her. Send her back home but she had a fever. What is the best thing for a fever . Chicken soup. The farmer went out there and killed the chicken and made the soup. She did not get better. So, he said i need to help her some more. She needs more food. He went out there and slaughtered the paik. The pig. He killed the cow. Next time they tell you there is a mousetrap out there and you say it is not your issue it is you. The mousetrap is for everybody. The mousetrap is for the entire barnyard, all of us are in this together. [applause] youve got your marching orders. We are ready to do housecalls before the session votes. We are ready to deal with building an economic withdrawal on the private sector. Our homeboyear from before we leave. I know that you all heard so much preaching, we need some music. Im not going to raise i want to hear some singing. They went and got the baddest choir in the capital. The Howard University choir. , keep on on keep on marching to freedom land aint going to let injustice turned me around im going to keep on walking marching up to freedom aint going to let nobody turned me around im going to keep on walking im going to keep on marching im going to keep on im going to keep on marching keep on walking marching im going to keep on marching up to freedom [applause] we shall not we shall not like a tree that raises from the water we shall not be moved. Not be moved we shall not be moved like a tree that branches by the water we shall not be moved black and white together we shall not be moved black and white together we shall not be moved like a tree planted by the water we shall not be moved black and white together we shall not be moved black and white together we shall not be moved like a tree planted by the water we shall not be moved like a tree like a tree that planted by the water planted by the water we shall not be moved like a tree like a tree that planted by the water we shall not be moved [applause] lets give the Howard University choir some love. [applause] the voice of progressive america, whose been here with us from closing down george bush to stopping us from being trumped, brother mark thompson. [applause] we will continue to fight the power that seems to never cease. For as long as we have no justice, they shall have no piece. No peace. No justice. Ace. O pe lets give a round of applause to dr. Franklin richardson. [applause] to the leader of the hour who brought us all here, president of the National Action network, reverend al sharpton. Give him a round of applause. [applause] is appropriate that we would be here on dr. Kings birthday. We often ask ourselves, what would jesus do . What would Martin Luther king do . Our movement did not end because people were tired. Our movement continued. The only thing that stopped dr. King was what the fbi did. The same thing they are doing today. We must oppose the attorney we must oppose attorney general Jeff Sessions, as many have said. We must stand up for our rights and do exactly what dr. King would have us do on his birthday. We ask we have several distinguished speakers to bring forward to you. First and foremost, please welcome a very active brother. You see him what you see him representing the people of new york. This is important because we all need to start thinking about running for office ourselves at a local level. Cannot just come out and start running for president. This brother sets an example. You make a difference on city council. You make a difference in local elected office, and this brother most certainly is making such a difference. Please welcome the councilmember from brooklyn, brother williams. [applause] how are you doing . You here. E i know this is the faithful. About six months ago, a lot of people were sleep. Everybody is woke now. Everybody is ready to fight now. Dont be afraid. I know a lot of people are scared, but there is a book i read to help me get through it. The book i read said that weeping may endure for a night, but joy not just a smile joy isnot just happy coming in the morning. But it did not say it would come easy. It did not say it will come without a fight. It just said joy will come in the morning, and that means you have to be the light. That means we have to be the stars. In the darkest dark, you see the brightest stars, so look at your neighbors and tell them, i will be your star. I will be your light. You be my star. You be my light. We will get it together. Hold on a little while longer. That joy will come. Youve got to hold on because they never said it will be easy. Hold on because i know from whence i speak. I am a descendent of a slave who just wanted to hold on to get us here. Theyre going to look back and say think they understood that the moral good of the universe is long but better for justice. Hold on because we are just in an arc. We are at a comma. Its not a full stop. Hold on because no justice, no peace is not just a mantra its a moral it it. You have to hold on because people asking for one and not the other are morally inept. Go from sea to shining sea. Hold on because we listen closely you are here. Your childrens children say, please, dont forget about us. Omeone remembered you. Hold on because we have to we will bring it back. Hold on. Keep pushing forward, dont just push back. Hold on. Hold on. Hold on. Keep fighting. We got the victory, but weve got to fight. Peace. [applause] get Councilmember Williams another round of applause. [applause] we know there is a war against organized labor, and we have reason to believe this new president is going to continue that war, and we have to stand up against it. Whoome now a young brother is trying to be part of a union. We should not take anybody for granted. Dr. King gave his life for garbage workers. , dole that, to a lot of us not even better. How many of us even speak to the sanitation workers . But he sacrificed his life for the sanitation workers, the people on the ground doing everyday work. This is a brother who is working on behalf of us and ought to be treated fairly. Please welcome he is a baggage handler at Ronald Reagan international airport. I dont even like the name of that airport. Never should have named that airport that airport. Trying to organize. Here . All right, brother. 32 32 32 afternoon, my people, brothers and sisters. Im from Ronald Reagan national airport. Supervisor. Unner the wear and tear on my body is very significant. Im not just trying to improve my life. Im trying to improve the lives of millions. Me . Ou hear good afternoon, my beautiful brothers and sisters. Baggage handler supervisor at Ronald Reagan international airport. Im not only representing myself but representing 100 people who work two or three jobs every single day who do not have time to go home, sleeping in cars and sleeping at airports. They pay us nothing. Some people get paid 5. 25, 6. 25, nine dollars an hour. Ive been at the airport nine years going on now, and i never got a raise. Its only 8. 25 an hour. Thats not enough. When you see us at the airport you might think we are looking all good, making all that money, but we are not making nothing. No raise, no health care benefits, no nothing. Now that we have donald trump coming into the white house, he is trying to take away our but i refuse to believe that we are going to give up. We are going to fight to keep our obamacare. Under the trump administration, we are facing the darkest days and challenges of our life. The ceo of carls jr. And hardees violated labor laws. As labor secretary, he will be in charge of of holding many forr laws and reparations companies that violate it. Thats like the fox guarding the hen house. He also makes more in a day than i do in a year, so i dont know how its possible for him to understand my struggle. Thats why we are committed to Work Together to do everything to win a minimum 15. Because of the National Action network who has our back, they have been working together to fight for 15 and a union. I know that dr. Martin luther king would be standing with us in a fight for our jobs with as he stoodrespect striking with memphis sanitation workers at the end of his life. A world where we already have too many Things Holding us down now, as we continue, we stay strong and united. We do not play. We fight, we win. We fight, we win. God bless america. Thank you. [applause] give him a round of applause. We are in solidarity with all of our community members. We can finally say proudly that inriage equality exists america. We can finally say proudly we stand with our sisters and brothers in the Lgbt Community. That is what dr. King would have done. That is what actually that is what Coretta Scott king did before passing away. Representing the human rights campaign, the director of faith initiative. Give him a round of applause. Good afternoon. When history is told, it will be to theat on january 14, people that stood in the rain, it was cold and it was freezing, and some of us were shivering, but we understand that there was something that we had to do that was bigger than us. I understand many of you stand with the Lgbt Community, but i have come to make a statement this afternoon that the Lgbt Community stands with you. Let me put it another way it stands with us. As the father of five and the grandfather of the most beautiful baby boy that ever walked the face of this planet, i stand with you today because i understand its not just about us. Its about Voting Rights. Its about health care. Its about jobs. Its about the ability to worship in the way that we choose to worship. Im not here to tell you who to worship. Tell you we are for justice for all. Some of us are depending on us some others are depending on us to take a step back. This is a trick that has been played on us over time. They want to divide and separate us over what some of us believe, but im here to tell you that we are not falling for that trick anymore. We shall not be moved. We shall not be moved. Black folks, white folks, latino folks, lesbian folks, straight folks, muslims, jewish, christian, left, right we shall not be moved. We are not threatened by our , but as the greatest first lady that has ever lived Michelle Obama said, it is our diversity that makes us who we are. Dr. King said many years ago we have some difficult days ahead, but i declare before you standing with me are 1. 5 million members of the human rights campaign, that we stand together, we stand united and get it right. We dont have to be uniform in our thinking to be united, but we can move in our diversity, so i stand with you to declare that ,s a people, a Diverse People black people, brown people, young people, old people, women, men, transgender, black, white, we shall not be moved. The humanear it for rights campaign. Joining us now to close us out give yourself a round of applause. Isnt this an incredible turnout in spite of the weather . Our final speaker will be the Vice President and general counsel of the national at work the National Action network, the brother who gives us on the air every weekend with our saturday broadcast, the one who represents the masses in terms of his legal expertise, our friend and brother, your friend and brother, attorney michael hardy. Give him a round of applause. [applause] hes going to wait. Because weve got another sister that is going to join us first, and we are glad she was able to join us. It was in his only term in the second year of his presidency that jfk asked this organization to be formed to ensure that there were equal rights under the law. Newing us now is the president of the Lawyers Committee for civil rights under law. Please give a warm round of applause to our new sister kristin clark. Good afternoon. It has been a long day, but the real work lies ahead. No justice no peace. Suppression, no peace. Police shootings, no peace. Mass incarceration, no peace. Violence against women, no peace. Islamophobia no peace. Hate crimes and hateinspired violence. No peace. Shootings inside our churches and houses of worship. No peace. The rise of the altright. No peace. Photo id laws. No peace. Economic inequality. No peace. Barriers faced by people with criminal histories who are seeking a Second Chance. No peace. The school to prison pipeline. No peace. Racial profiling. No peace. Great progress, but we cannot afford to turn the clock back now. We cannot allow them to hack our justice system. Thats right. Justice said that power concedes nothing without a demand. It never did, and it never will. I am proud to stand up here today representing civil rights lawyers across our country who are prepared to roll up their sleeves and fight. This fight to court across our nation. We will do the hard work that is necessary to make sure that this administration enforces our nations federal civil rights laws and does not turn this nation back. Coretta scott King Scott King opposed the nomination of mr. Jeff sessions to become a federal judge in 1980 six. Mrs. King said that Jeff Sessions abused the awesome powers of his office in an attempt to intimidate and frighten elderly black voters. We will not forget history. We will lift up the words and scott king andta continue to stand in opposition of mr. Jeff sessions to serve as attorney general of the United States. No justice, no peace. Thank you. [applause] lets hear it again for kristin clark. , attorney, the Vice President of the National Action network and general counsel, michael hardy. Give him a round of applause. [applause] hardy brothers and sisters, we thank you so much for being with us today. History will say that we came in the cold. It will say we came in the rain. It will say that we came in peace, that we stood for justice, that we shall not be moved. God bless you. Get home safe. Check your captains and everything. The buses are here. We are ready to go. We are ready to fight. We are ready to stand. God bless you. No justice. No peace
