Today Kate Raphael talks with San Francisco State Professor Rabab Abdulhadi about the life of one of Eygpt’s most famous feminists Nawal el Saadawi who died recently. Sadaawi’s 1977 book, titled in English, The Hidden Face of Eve: Women in the Arab World, looked at practices such as clitoridectomy and workplace rape in the context of class and colonialism as well as culture. It was published in the United States with a foreword by Gloria Steinem. But first Lisa Dettmer talks to Tiny (aka Lisa Gray-Garcia) who is a formerly unhoused, incarcerated poverty scholar, revolutionary journalist, lecturer, poet, visionary, teacher and single mom and , daughter of a houseless, disabled, indigenous mama Dee, and the co–founder of POOR Magazine/and poor New Network. is a poor people led/indigenous people led, grassroots non-profit, arts organization dedicated to providing revolutionary media access, art, education and advocacy to silenced youth, adults and elders in poverty . In 2011 she co-launched The Homefulness Project – a landless peoples, self-determined land liberation movement in the Ohlone/Lisjan/Huchuin territory known as Deep East Oakland, to create real affordable housing among other things.
