Knoxville Police Officer Adam Willson is recovering in hospital after he was shot in the leg during the incident at Austin-East Magnet High School on Monday
Willson is a 20-year police veteran currently working as the resource officer 
The gunman student, who has not been identified, was pronounced dead at the scene after being shot by an officer 
No one else was injured in the shooting
The deadly incident erupted when police first received reports of a student with a gun and found him holed up in a bathroom
