Date Time QVMAG Royal Park roof works to start next month The City of Launceston will next month begin work on a $250,000 upgrade of the roof at the Queen Victoria Museum and Art Gallery’s Royal Park site. The existing roof is nearing the end of its asset life and the project will involve the installation of a new roofing system designed to better handle stormwater. The new roof system will be constructed over the western end of the building, allowing for the rationalisation of utility infrastructure currently housed on the roof, like air conditioning units. The new roof has been designed in consultation with Heritage Tasmania, and is intended to blend sympathetically with the original architecture. The work is expected to take around four months to complete, and will involve the use of a crane.
