$900 million in electricity bill savings available to households
Electricity prices have fallen almost 9 per cent since the middle of last year and there is $900 million in potential savings for households in eastern and southern states, new figures released today by the ACCC show.
Retail electricity offers now available to households in New South Wales, Victoria, South East Queensland, South Australia and the Australian Capital Territory are, on average, 8.8 per cent lower than they were in June 2020, which equates to an average annual household saving of $126.
Data from ACCC monitoring has revealed that if all customers in National Energy Market regions were to have the advantage of the potential savings by switching to lower offers, or benefitting from retailers lowering the prices of their existing plans, the total annual savings would be about $900 million compared to June 2020.

A majority Labor Government would form a Suicide Prevention Commission to help identify and understand the factors and systematic issues that may contribute to suicide risk.
Labor Leader Rebecca White said funding of $1 million a year would be given to the Commissioner to help government better understand the issues facing Tasmanians.
“The Commissioner will make recommendations to government about the actions and strategies relevant to past and any future deaths by suicide,” Ms White said.

Liberals only delivered 31% of its infrastructure budget by the end of February
Only Labor is working for Tasmanians for real economic outcomes
Infrastructure Minister Michael Ferguson cannot change the facts, he is completely failing to deliver the infrastructure Peter Gutwein promised Tasmanians.
Shadow Treasurer David O’Byrne said Treasury’s numbers show the Government had delivered just 31% of its infrastructure budget by the end of February.
“If this rate of failure continues for the remaining four months of the year, the Government will fail to deliver more than $600 million worth of housing, hospitals, schools and road upgrades,” Mr O’Byrne said.

Tasmanians miss out as Liberals break scores of infrastructures promises
Labor is working for Tasmanians to deliver better economic outcomes
Shadow Treasurer David O’Byrne said Labor welcomed today’s improvement in the budget and debt position, but noted the improvement is almost entirely due to increased GST receipts and the Government’s failure to deliver its infrastructure promises.
“Today’s report shows the Liberals will under-deliver on their infrastructure promises by nearly $600 million,” Mr O’Byrne said.
“That means hundreds of families won’t be housed this winter, run down schools won’t be fixed, hospitals will still be in crisis and traffic will be as bad as ever.
