‘No-way Albo’: Anthony Albanese is ‘no way’ on all reliable energy sources18/02/2021|6min
Opposition Leader Anthony Albanese has gone from “each-way Albo (to) become no way Albo” as he flat out rejects coal, oil, gas and definitely nuclear power, says Resources Minister Keith Pitt.
It comes as five Nationals Senators including former ministers Bridget McKenzie and Matt Canavan will move an amendment to legislation which will allow the Clean Energy Finance Corporation to invest in nuclear generators.
Nuclear power is banned in Australia after the Howard government introduced a moratorium on the baseload energy source in 1998.
Mr Pitt said the Coalition government has a “watching brief” on small modular nuclear reactors via its technology roadmap, but any move to upheave the moratorium will require support from the opposition.
