CLEVELAND, Ohio – Both former state Sen. Nina Turner and Cuyahoga County Councilwoman Shontel Brown have a massive money edge in the Democratic primary to replace former U.S. Rep. Marcia Fudge.
The quarterly Federal Election Commission fundraising reports – which include figures from Jan. 1 through March 31 and were due by midnight April 15 – showed Turner alone has raised more than all other candidates combined, banking on her national profile as one of Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders’ top allies. Initially trailing heavily in fundraising, Brown, also chairwoman of the Cuyahoga County Democratic Party, has seen a significant increase in her fundraising.
