Nigerian president Bola Tinubu not first African leader to ring NASDAQ closing bell

President Bola Tinubu’s spokesman Ajuri Ngelale claimed in a statement that the Nigerian leader was the first African head of state to ring the closing bell at NASDAQ, an American stock exchange based in New York. But the claim is misleading; Jakaya Kikwete rang the bell on September 21, 2011, when he was still the president of Tanzania. The Nigerian government retracted the statement, saying it was misled.
