welcome back to the weekend, folks. we're here, and house speaker mike johnson is proving he is actually really good at one thing. kicking that can down the road. congress now has another week to avoid a partial government shutdown. but none of this is normal, and we cannot say that enough. if congress was actually functioning like it should, this would have been a done deal back in september. so, joining us have to discuss this and all other things happening with the government's transportation secretary pete buttigieg. >> secretary buttigieg, welcome to the program. you are still in washington, d.c.. your colleagues on capitol hill, most of them, have gone home. there's a chance that we're gonna be here this weekend, figuring out if they can continue to fund the government. they kick the can down the road. they bought themselves about a week. can you just give us a sense form your vantage point of what is at stake with the government operating in this way, with congressional republicans continuing to sort of pushed the can, push the can, not really agreeing to a permanent solution? >> let me give you an example that comes from just one part of one department. the faa's air traffic organization within the department of transportation. think about what it takes, every day, 24 by seven by 365 to make sure that 60 million flights a year gets where they are going safely. then, think about the effect it has on those operations to beat now on our fourth, maybe fit, depending how you count, time this fiscal year alone. figuring out whether we're bracing for a shutdown. it's the one thing, it feels like everybody that i've talked to on capitol hill agrees on, republicans and democrats, is we need more air traffic controllers. you know what happens during a shutdown? on day one, we have to shut down the academy that trains them, which will stop us in our tracks at a moment we are finally, after 20 or 30 years, of decline, finally seeing the number of controllers we have go up. meanwhile, the controllers who would be required to continue going to work in the towers would not be getting paid. i don't know about you, but i want the controller who is controlling my flight to have nothing else distracting them but the ability to do their job. they're gonna keep doing their job, they are pros. but they shouldn't have to worry about this. neither should leaders in any of the federal agencies responsible for so many vital things from food inspections to air traffic control. the last thing they should be wondering about when they get a up in the morning is, do we have a budget? do i have a paycheck? >> mister secretary, i want to talk about budgets. the interesting news about the biden administration is the amount of work that's gone into changing the game for the states around the country. whether it was infrastructure, whether it to us on dealing with the senate in the economy, the administrations laid out nine point billion dollars of public transportation funding for the states. the funding is there to help communities maintain and operate trains, buses, ferries, upgrades their stations, in my neighborhood, the new carroll the station. thank you very much, mister secretary, very much appreciated. that station was gonna close down a few years ago. the biden administration, because joe biden and i used to read the trend together, we appreciate trains and what that means. how do you, because you are a consummate not just advocates, but storyteller, of what this administration has done. how come that just hasn't connected with folks out there who, in polling today, says, oh joe biden hasn't done enough, or he hasn't done anything for us. you know, i don't know what this administration's done for the last three years. i'm voting for trump. [laughter] we did nothing for you on transportation for four years. >> yeah, in fact, the previous administration promised a big transportation bill. i have to admit, it's the one time they had me fooled. i thought they were gonna do it, because why wouldn't you? and they didn't get it done. president biden did. he did it on a bipartisan basis, by the way. and now, we're getting these dollars out to states, cities, communities, transit agencies, airports. here's the thing. when something is uncontroversial-y and unambiguously good, it gets -- but that seems to have a work cut out for us. on the accepting that as a reason why these things are going to give us attention. i know with a lot of turmoil and a lot of controversy in the world, we need to make sure people understand the good that is coming their way. because of the president's leadership, and because of that work. it's why i'm gonna be on the road, even more. you could see the president continuing to be on the road. and, look we've also got to work with partners on the ground to make sure that residents connect the dots. obviously, you, know some governors are going to be more likely than others -- a >> few others, yeah. >> all of them are taking the money. >> always taking the money. >> and all of that money is helping to get people where they need to be. >> but getting to people where they need to, be transportation is something that affects everyone's life. whether you drive or you ride the bus or take the train, okay, whether you ride the plane and to your point, and they wrote that down about when something is unambiguously good, it gets less attention. so many of the things i think the administration has done, they do affect peoples everyday lives, but they don't necessarily connect the two, right? they see 9.9 billion dollars, but they don't connected to the new carrollton station in d.c., or the train, or the transformation coming to trains in north carolina, or illinois. another unambiguously good thing that happened this week is the change in policy on wheelchairs, and airlines. people, well, they might realize it now that we say it, but airlines were exempt from the americans with disabilities act when it comes to accommodations. i have never seen anyone on a plane, in a wheelchair. >> that's right. look, i think everybody gets that aviation is unique and complex and technical field, but it is also the case that so much more could be done to make it possible, safe, use, ear and dignified for people who use wheelchairs to travel by air. when they can't, on somebody can't travel by air, and one person told us during the process we were developing these rules, said i was made to feel like a piece of luggage. so, i don't fly anymore. every time that happens, their world shrinks. but also, our world shrinks, because we miss out on the contributions of that would be passenger, wherever they're going, whether it's a family wedding or it's a board meeting. so, what we're doing is we are proposing an update to the rules to make it clear for example, if you are traveling with a wheelchair, and you hand it to an airline personnel when you get on the plane, they destroy your wheelchair? that is a de facto, that is a per se violation of the air carrier access and they can be held accountable for that. >> this matters. 162 wheelchairs were destroyed last year. it's not like it doesn't happen. >> we only have those numbers because we started requiring them to reports, and that count right below. anybody you know with a wheelchair probably has a horror story about flying, if they fly out. also, we're requiring training. we're requiring a standard of safe and dignified access to aircraft, because often, personnel are not just handling wheelchairs, they are physically lifting passengers into their seats. they need to be properly trains. getting this right is not just a way to hold airlines accountable to do the right thing for passengers, but it's opening up new possibilities for those passengers, and, again everybody who would benefit from them being there. i bet an extraordinary disability advocate in my office the other day. her name is grace fischer. she went through an illness, lost the use of her arms and legs. she does extraordinary paintings with her mouth. she was able to participate in an award. she's been recognized at the kennedy center this weekend's. she was able to do it, but flying for her was no simple thing. we want to make it easier. >> go ahead. alicia? >> i was going to shift gears, secretary, and ask you to put on your dad hat for just a second, because we've been following the story, the alabama supreme court's ivf personhood ruling. i'm sure you saw this week the u.s. senate, you had a republican blocking legislation that would have protected ivf. and while you build your family through adoption, i don't think we have enough men in this conversation, talking about some of the most personal and most important conversations that we have as families, about how we build and grow our own families. so, i wonder for you, as you are watching this all unfold, what more you think the federal government can be doing to protect american families? >> i think you're right. i think everybody who believes in family ought to be speaking out here. this is a women's issue. this is a family issue. it is a fathers issue, too. when this kind of ideology, and the actions of the last administration and the congressional republicans and the supreme court they created, and the right to ivf, that is stopping men from becoming fathers, along with stopping women from becoming mothers. it is preventing something that all of us, including folks on the other side of the aisle, profess to believe in. which is helping people grow their families. unfortunately, we see far too many voices out there who say they are pro family on a brochure, but when it comes down to protecting and supporting families, whether it's a family trying to grow their family through ivf or one like mine, or chest and and i, through adoption, have our incredible twin son and daughter, you need to demonstrate whether you actually mean it. the fact that senator duckworth put forth a bill that's really gave anybody who set up, we're not against ivf a chance to prove, it senate republicans are blocking it. so, look, we know where they stand, and i think it really tells you something. that the people with the supposition refuse to own their own position. i think that's an indication it's not a very good one. >> as an adopted child, i appreciate that effort by you and your husband. i want to broaden it out a little bit further in talking about what lies ahead on a number of fronts. that touch on families and communities, and how they make their lives and livelihoods happen. for example, we have, to the point that alicia raised, you had a lot of women out there now having to cross borders to seek medical attention. for themselves and their families. transportation is involved in that. the criminalization, potentially, of those crossings. watts involvement us department of transportation have in court nation with the administration, coordination with the broader public policy around making sure that women, men, families, have access? they can go from state to state or community to community, so you get what they need, it's making it very difficult health decisions. >> when the supreme court dismantled roe v. wade, the president directed the entire government to take a whole of government approach, make sure every part of his administration was working together to support and defend these rights and yes, we have a role to play. we are assessing the transportation implications of states and other authorities trying to block people from being able to move. to be clear, they shouldn't have to. in order to access something like ivf or in order to have a lifesaving medical care. you shouldn't have to leave the state you live in the united states of america. but if there are obstacles being put up, we're going to do everything we can within the boundaries of the law and according to our authorities, to make sure we support them. >> again -- >> we shouldn't be here in the first place, and it's one of the reasons why president biden has continued to plead not just administration process, but work with congressional partners, because they're not going to stop as far safe come. alabama was the first place where ivf was put on the line. it's not gonna be the last. we're gonna see more and more of these extreme measures. by the way, the proposals circulating to have some basic stream things taking place at the national level. whether we're talking about a national ban on access to abortion or things that would stand in the way of ivf. i mean, look, the speaker of the house, i think if he had his way, we wouldn't have access to birth control. >> yes. that's next. >> yeah and little red outfits and kareem pose, like a handmaid's tale. >> stick around. we've got a little marvel on to talk to you about, because we want to discuss next week's state of the union. the address the president is going to hit us, and what we might hear from the president this thursday. this is the weekend on msnbc. you have the hesitancy and the house to do anything, they want to tie everything to ukraine and all of that. how does the administration move forward on gaza while also trying to on shackle ukraine and other pieces at this? >> it's one of so many areas where you see the administration doing everything that it can, but it would be so much easier to make progress if congress could get aligned, if we don't have the congressional inaction and partisanship that you see there. i was in ukraine in november, and i was there to meet with zelenskyy, to meet with my counterparts, to be one of so many people who have gone from the administration to make clear our ongoing commitment. what is ironic and troubling is so many of the leading figures in congress on both sides of the aisle say that they agree. and yet, this position, which i believe is a majority position in congress, just like there is a strong majority for the protection of civilian life in israel and gaza, has not been able to produce a result. >> secretary, we are certain to hear about this thursday when the president delivers his state of the union address. we also hear a lot of connecting of the dots, policies, the administration has put in place, those that have benefited the american people. in anticipation of, that your department has been putting out some videos. let's take a look. >> we are constantly learning something every day. it is rewarding, for sure. >> so building the bridge is a big deal in this area. the bridge supports trades workers, a lot of families, it's important to the people who live here. >> i want to pull up for you, secretary buttigieg, this from the new york times about the poll that's in the new york times that i promised we weren't going to talk about much. but this is from the -- despite the positive economic news over the last few, months 51% of voters said the economy was poor. in a strange way, perhaps that's good news for biden. maybe his standing will improve if or when voters begin to gain confidence that the economy has turned a corner. you have eight months, as you know, to deliver that message. >> look, this is a season for storytelling. i'm not just talking about that in the political sense. it is one of the main rules that we have in government and the state of the union is and occasion that the president leads the entire administration in telling that story. the story of what has been as shaved and what his vision is for the year to come. and i'm looking forward to being there because, i have to tell, you every time i've had the privilege of sitting there in one of those seats in the house of representatives as president biden gives the state of the union, i'm reminded of work that has happened in such a swirling complex time that we don't always stop to pay attention to. and reminded that this is work that most americans support. and steps that so many americans believe in. so i'm looking forward to that occasion and, in this season of storytelling, the entire administration is doing it in different ways. part of why our department is leaning into the opportunity to create some of this video content, it's another way -- look, not everybody is scanning the federal register, looking at the grant processes, not everybody is -- >> indeed, sir. >> so you know, we have to meet people where they are and make sure lifting up the stories. not just in the nuts and bolts and bridges, but the peoples whose lives are shaped by infrastructure, good or bad. this bridge, which is in superior wisconsin duluth minnesota, is a great example of a piece of infrastructure. a peoples lives, peoples infrastructure, peoples -- they depend on. it we are spending a billion dollars to fix it. up it's why president biden pushed for this infrastructure plan in the first place. >> you don't know a good rulemaking until you've had a good rule making. i just want to put that on the table for everybody. those of us who worked on the hill. >> i notice a funding opportunity can be scintillating. >> it's in your contract. >> that's, right exactly. not everybody has time for that. >> we're trying to tell the stories in ways that reach people. >> i want to broaden the scope a little bit more. we are talking a little bit off camera about some of the other interesting things that i think really folks find titillating, exciting. they look forward to them. high-speed rails, for example. everyone wants something that gets from washington to new york and 30 minutes. but you know, we can work on that. projects like, that futuristic, they are here and now, available and your department will be on the front line for, what does that look like? is that part of the storytelling potential for what americans can look forward to? >> absolutely. the 20 twenties are going to be remembered as a period of advancement and change in transportation. sometimes it comes in ways we don't fully see coming. i'll give you an example of. it if you think about the last decade, the most important piece of transportation technology of the last decade turned out to be the smartphone. it's not even a vehicle. and it changes everything, from how you boarded planes, the how you find a way around a city. there are certain things we know going on right now and we are investing. the biden administration is pushing to make certain key innovations happen. you mentioned high speed rail. let's great example. now, let me be clear, the infrastructure package we have through congress, as historic as it, is that is not enough to single-handedly do a high speed rail network across the united states. but, through that funding, we are investing in a project from las vegas to southern california that, if they meet their marks, it will be done in 2028. and they want to be done in time for the olympics in l.a.. we are finding. that there's another project going north south in california. i'm convinced that, if there is just one place in america where even won americans by set to get, sits down, and experiences true high speed rail, there will be no going back. >> absolutely. that's the truth. talk about that. >> i did the tokyo run, oh my gosh. 300 miles an hour, baby, yeah, it was good. >> i know it was good. mister secretary, i know we're out of time, but when i worked at the white house, the state of the union speech is the place where everybody wants to get a line in. the vice president's office, every single secretary. what are the -- what is the line you hope to hear the president say on thursday about transportation? >> the problem with transportation is that i've got thousands of things i'd like to get in there. it's hard to pick just one. the bottom line is that the dirt is flying and the money is moving. and people are already better off, even the projects that are not done yet. people are beginning to get jobs, working on those projects, and the way these things work, with a 45,000 projects that are getting funding from the biden infrastructure plan, we are just at the early stages of seeing those turn into construction sites and complete those projects. the best is yet to come. >> alicia, i'll be listening for the dirt line. >> as a mom of two small kids, normally hearing someone say the dirt is flying makes me very nervous. in this case, i'm happy to hear it. transportation secretary, pete buttigieg, as always, thank you. next, new revelations from the justice department as it tries to lock down a date for trump's classified documents trial. this is the weekend on msnbc. order now in subway a. you always got your mind on the green. not you. you! your business bank account with quickbooks money now earns 5% apy. it doesn't have. that that's part of the problem. but i think part of the problem is, i don't think she's particularly fond of this case. at this point, you know, the prosecution asked for a july 8th trial date. i don't think she's going to grant. that she was skeptical of, that she's got all these motions backed. up i mean, this case should have been tried already frankly, but the trump people asked for something in august. what they're trying to do is they're trying to block out judge chutkan from trying this case in september or october here in d.c.. at this point, i almost wish that the judge cannon just kick this case to 2025. i think she's probably gonna do that anyway, as christy points. out >> just get that one out of the way so we can focus on this. one >> right now, the immunity issue is going to the supreme court. it may put this case here in d.c. to trial, in september and october, which is not necessarily a good thing for donald trump. >> yeah i don't know what you think candidates up to, i want to bring in the special counsel asking potential jurors if they think the 2020 election was stolen or not. they wanted to ask that, of course, trump's team objected. it's a complicated dynamic at play. >> definitely complicated dynamics but i think, look, whether it is bias or it is in experience, she was a prosecutor, she doesn't seem like she has any background with national security cases. it's a different beast. and so you know, hard to see exactly what's motivating her. result is clear. she doesn't want this to go anywhere. and those trial dates, yes, the trump team proposed august and then she is only available september 9th. but they proposed august, exactly, that to block judge chutkan if she were to be able to get on the calendar in august. they want to get ahead first. so it's on the calendar but i don't think it means much. as to the question here, there was some really interesting questions that are unique that you don't typically see, donald trump's team saying how to do vote in the 2020 election? completely inappropriate questions. then you've got jack smith's team asking questions about well, jurors, have you heard anything about what donald trump has been saying about jack smith? what he said about this investigation? try to understand, has he affected this jury pool? to what extent did it affect these peoples opinions? it's a unique question here and you have a lot of questions where they're trying to understand what the potential biases of these jurors are. can they be impartial in a situation where so much is in the public domain already? >> georgia, i'm curious for you if the timeline stretches, and all the sudden donald trump is standing trial closer to the election. how does that play out politically? >> politically it's not helpful for donald trump sometimes in litigation you lose by getting what you asked. for what he has asked for in the january 6th case is delay delay, but he may not get enough delay. i mean, the supreme court took this case and probably not to delay but they probably think they have something to add to the law in this area. and there are multiple motions that donald trump has been making both in georgia and florida that may be, you know, the guidance could be helpful in the supreme court. but the end result would be, we are going to get a decision, the case is still expedited, the appeal to the supreme court is still expedited. we will get a decision by the end of june, maybe even earlier. if that is true, you do the math, you get a trial in august, september, october. and that is not a good thing for donald trump. it would be better to get it over, with frankly. even with a conviction. >> you're shaking your head, you disagree? but we have to go. so quickly? >> that just assumes that they're going to affirm the ruling of the d.c. court of appeals as the way it is written. and i'm not sure they're going to do. that i worry that they're gonna start to look at official acts and look to move it to judge chutkan. >> i have an answer to that. >> well what is? it >> actually, if they do some kind of a re-manned, require remained for fact funding to judge chutkan, here's what i do it if i was jacks mitt. i'd say okay, fine let's have a hearing, what started on monday, here's my witness list. and let's try the case. >> a lot a lawyer and happening right here. i love. it >> but i don't have faith in the supreme court, but i have faith in this panel. george and kristie, there is more to talk about. the big distraction that we're seeing in georgia, the crusade against bonnie willis that unfolded this week. i wrote about it in the msnbc daily lose letter which you can subscribe to for free by the way, just use your smartphone. scan the qr code, go ahead, pick it up right now. put on your screens. scan the code and you sign up, you can have it center in pox every single day. we also give previews of original msnbc podcast and documentaries, all kinds of just really good stuff. so do that and then we'll be right back with the weekend. makes it easy to save with a commercial auto quote online so you can take on all your others to-dos. already did. see if you could save at progressivecommercial.com. when enamel is gone, you cannot get it back. but you can repair it with pronamel repair. it penetrates deep into the tooth to actively repair acid weakened enamel. i recommend pronamel repair. with new pronamel repair mouthwash you can enhance that repair beyond brushing. they work great together. ava: i was just feeling sick. and it was the worst day. mom was crying. i was sad. colton: i was diagnosed with rhabdomyosarcoma. brett: once we got the first initial hit, it was just straight tears, sickness in your stomach, just don't want to get up out of bed. joe: there's always that saying, well, you've got to look on the bright side of things. tell me what the bright side of childhood cancer is. lakesha: it's a long road. it's hard. but saint jude has gotten us through it. narrator: saint jude children's research hospital works day after day to find cures and save the lives of children with cancer and other life-threatening diseases. thanks to generous donors like you, families never receive a bill from saint jude for treatment, travel, housing, or food, so they can focus on helping their child live. ashley: without all of those donations, saint jude would not be able to do all of the exceptional work that they do. narrator: for just $19 a month, you'll help us continue the life-saving research and treatment these kids need. tiffany: no matter if it's a big business or just the grandmother that donates once a month, they are changing people's lives. and that's a big deal. narrator: join with your debit or credit card right now, and we'll send you this saint jude t-shirt that you can proudly wear to show your support. nicole: our family is forever grateful for donations big and small because it's completely changed our lives and it's given us a second chance. elizabeth stewart: saint jude's not going to stop until every single kid gets that chance to walk out of the doors of this hospital cancer-free. narrator: please, don't wait. call, go online, or scan the qr code below right now. [♪ music playing ♪] judge mcafee is providing the election -- hopes to decide in the next two weeks if district attorney, fani willis, can remain on the case. trump's legal team is trying to dismantle the racketeering case and willis's role in it. they are arguing that her past relationship with special prosecutor, nathan wade, is a conflict. this week, a star witness for the defense offered no details that incriminated willis or weighed. leading a prosecutor in willis's office to say that the effort is a desperate attempt to remove a prosecutor from a case for no reason other than embarrassment and harassment. george conway and christy green are back with us. >> i want to pick up on that point. a great piece was written by my colleague, simone this week, yes, as we just noted going into the break, she talks about the circus of the willis hearing and the fact that this courtroom drama around fani willis is the distraction from the real crime, right? and we know how the trump universe works. creating a sideline over here for you to look, at well ignoring all the stuff. >> yes. for and in the piece, you notice something important that i don't think should be lost here. while you have all the drama around a relationship that has absolutely nothing to do with the case at hand, defense attorneys failed to prove their claims of prosecutorial misconduct as they sought to help their clients avoid accountability. that is simon's bottom line. that is the bottom line i think from everybody who's been looking at this and following this. what is your take on what we saw play out this week? >> simone is right. this is just an absurdity, an embarrassment, and i mean, i just told my head my hands. i can't watch the stuff anymore because it's just a circus. this should never have gotten this far. i'm not going to condone what fani willis and mr. wait, did i, mean it was very unwise to do that, but the fact of the matter is, in order to get a disqualification fear under georgia law, as i understand it, comment since tells you you have to actually allege something in prove something if you are defense. we there is a conflict and actual conflict that harms the defense. they didn't do that. there is nothing for -- nothing make saints about it. the notion that if -- even if she was getting kickbacks, you know, effectively from wade, i don't see how that actually affects the prosecution. even though the prosecution is based upon a grand jury indictment, two grand juries in fact passed on this. it is either going to succeed or fail on its own merits. if i hire a simone -- if i have a relationship, i'm a general counsel, i hire you to bring a case and you over bill me and you get money back to me, i don't know how the defendant has anything to say about that. the same would apply. >> well it would be wrong, on a number of fronts, but they didn't even do that here. >> yes, the shareholders, the taxpayers, those people who are working for. >> i want to be on the record on that one, george. eight nothing going on here. there's no party on the side of the table. >> okay, well i'm over here. >> i want to play the sound of fani willis saying that -- >> thank, you alicia. mom, get us together. i want to play the sound of fani willis, reminding everybody that she is actually not on trial here. >> so, your office objected to us getting delta records for flights that you made. >> well look, i object you getting records. you've been intrusive into peoples personal lives. you are confused, do you think i'm on trial, these people are on trial for trying to steal an election in 2020. i'm not on trial, no matter how hard you try to put me on trial. >> we kristie, i'm wondering what you make of just the spectacle that we have seen in fulton county with this particular parts of these hearings that have been happening. do you think the judge let one too many things go on? too far? i too was watching like, what in the world is going on? >> it has definitely gone too far. but what i would say is that the closing arguments were so absurd. they are arguing that fani willis used this case to become rich and famous. she is not rich. there was no evidence here that she used a government job to get rich. nathan wade, he's getting paid a government, right not rich. you know, show me the money. we had today evidence hearing where they never showed that she enriched herself. at the end of the day, you know, they showed that yes, she went to, not she stayed at a double. tree they split their expenses, she paid for trips for him. there was no enrichment here. as to being famous, well, okay, we all know fani willis now, but that wasn't because she hired nathan wade. that was because fani worked her fani offer two and a half years while doj sat on their hands and she investigated and prosecuted and is now prosecuting this sprawling case. so again, this idea that, if we're keeping score here, you know, they did not show that fani willis was enriched in any way profited from nathan wade's work. similarly, the same way that they can't show that joe biden profited from hunter biden's work. but where is the evidence? the evidence is that you know, donald trump and his sons actually profited, they profited to the tune of 400 and $64 million from abroad. so if anyone wants to look into those things if the rich and famous scrutinize for ill gotten gains, look at donald, trump don't look. here >> we have one, minute let's talk about the criminality, george conway, this is from new york times, the polling showing that 53% of voters believe mr. trump has committed serious crimes. feud another, way mr. trump's current lead over mr. biden's build with a significant number of voters who believe he is a criminal. >> because he is. >> he is. >> i'm just mystified by that. but i must say, i'm not going to say i don't trust the polls, but i think the polls aren't going to necessarily reflect who is going to turnout. i think the people who are really upset that this criminal is going to be a nominee, a major party nominee for president, are the ones who are going to show up and crawl on broken glass to see that he is not elected. but that said, i just think it is just another example of the depths to which donald trump has dragged this country. we accept things that were absolutely not remotely conceivably acceptable just a few years ago. i, mean the man isn't adjudicated rapist. he is, there is no question, he stole classified documents and then shuffle played them around to hide them from the fbi. you should be. until the case, you know, the cannon case should have been tried a long time ago. he should already be convicted. and what happened is that we just -- psychologists, i think, they call it malignant normality. we've accepted this malignancy as rule. >> this is a real quick point. i just don't think we should lose sight of what this whole fani willis thing was about. this is about just mocking this up, putting something up against the wall because now, in the eyes of the public, going forward, whatever comes out of this case is suspect, and that's all donald trump wanted to accomplish. >> the judge was absolutely remiss in allowing it to happen because, all that mattered was, where did the money go? it doesn't matter whether -- you left to in the morning, six in the morning, whether they say it stayed in the room, none. none of that matters. >> george conway, kristy greenberg, thank you so much for being with us this morning. we will be right back with. ay. when my doctor gave me breztri for my copd, things changed for me. breztri gave me better breathing, symptom improvement, and reduced flare—ups. breztri won't replace a rescue inhaler for sudden breathing problems. it is not for asthma. tell your doctor if you have a heart condition or high blood pressure before taking it. don't take breztri more than prescribed. breztri may increase your risk of thrush, pneumonia, and osteoporosis. call your doctor if worsened breathing, chest pain, mouth or tongue swelling, problems urinating, vision changes, or eye pain occur. ask your doctor about breztri. this is remington. ...he's a member of the family, for sure. we always fed them kibble— it just seemed like the thing to do. but ...he was getting picky we heard about the farmer's dog... and it was a complete transformation. his coat was so soft, he had amazing energy. he was a completely different dog. it's a no-brainer that (remi) should have the most nutritious and delicious food possible. i'm investing in my dog's health and happiness. everybody wants super straight, super white teeth. they want that hollywood white smile. new sensodyne clinical white provides 2 shades whiter teeth and 24/7 sensitivity protection. i think it's a great product. it's going to help a lot of patients. republican, kerry, lake is changing her tune on abortion in an exclusive interview with nbc news. the arizona senate candidate now making the claim that she opposes a federal abortion ban and does not support a near total ban in arizona. okay. >> so i picked up the phone and said now, carrie. honey, you are about to make it real difficult for yourself. come, on we got the talking points. >> it's getting a little hot for you. but here's my point on all of this. you already told us who you are, carrie. stop lion. we know if you go to the senate, we know what you're voting for. so come, on just be honest, what changed? what changed? because you weren't in the space when graham was out there. now it's like we're gonna do a national ban? while the states were pushing and moving in that direction. so yeah, campaigns are campaigns, but you know, at least be honest with arizona and let them know where you really stand. don't be like some of those supreme court justices on this issue who tell the hearing folk one thing and then do something else, a little bit later on. >> michael still coming in hot this morning, alicia. >> it just reminds me that you have donald trump out there saying maybe he likes a 16-week abortion ban because it's a nice round number. then recently saying maybe it's 15 weeks because that's what people are saying. you're talking about some of the most important decisions that americans ke. and you're acting loosey-goosey like where you're gonna put the deadline. not denying that he is going to sign a national ban, just playing with the deadline. >> and he is the person that appointed all these judges that he took credit for overturning roe v. wade. we literally could not make this up. >> absolutely. coming up, velshi is at the top of the hour. you should not go anywhere because ali has judge michael j luttig on and he is going to talk about where donald trump's any legal cases stand. he is a very highly revered conservative judge and they're going to get into all of the things now that the supreme court is taking up the presidential immunity question. we will be right back, folks. y. you still go landine in your house. order now in the subway app. whoa, how did you defeat them? you still go with a little kung fu strength and by connecting my devices to the most powerful force of all. skadoosh. hah, huh? cool right? amazing. harness the power of xfinity internet and stay connected to the things you love. ah, they'll be like this for hours. hello dad, hello dad, hello da. uh-oh. good bunnies. ahh! msnbc in the meantime, velshi starts right now. our bestie, taking the, way ali. >> so, let me just stget a. qui you're not the same place. at the not at the table moment, right? >> michael and i are together. in new york. >> alicia is here. >> i'm right here. >> the six feel up better, because earlier this week, someone said to me, the weekend's gonna be in new york, and, unlike and then he said, you, know others do not think the into the shower
