Lancaster opens its first dog park in Miller Park The Lancaster Parks and Recreation Doggie Destination at Miller Park opened Friday, the first city-owned dog park. Parks Superintendent Mike Tharp Jr. said a city dog park has been in consideration for a number of years. "(Councilwoman) Melody Bobbitt told me she's been working on it for about 10 years, and I know the two past superintendents have pushed for a dog park. But this was a matter of the right time, the right place, and the right money to get this park done," Tharp said. "We also had great partners along the way."
