shaping up to be another bruising day. u.s. stock futures hit a six-month low this morning. wall street had its worst performance in 18 months thursday driven in part by a dramatic drop in the chinese stockmarket. a report founds china's factory activity fell at its fastest pace in more than six years. after the devaluation of the chinese currency, there is worry that the slowdown in chinese economy could cause a slowdown. thursday all indicators were down. the dow lost 358 points, the s&p fell 43 points. the nasdaq dropped 141 points. asian markets tumbled fall follow wall street's selloff. the shanghai composite lost 4%. meanwhile greece is apparently headed for another national collection. tsipras said he's stepping down and calling for early elections. he said he got the best bailout possible from the eurozone countries. coca-cola plans to start publishing information about its health and nutrition efforts. coke was criticized recently for funding a group that many felt promoted the company's message. it gave $1.5 million that helped start the group that shifted away from obesity to bad diets. and the regal movie theater chain has started checking bags to provide better security. after shootings at theaters around the country, regal says that bags and backpacks are subject to inspection before patrons enter. regallop rates more than 500 theaters around the country. anne-marie? >> jill wagner at the new york stock exchange. thanks a lot, jill. well, investigators are looking into what went wrong for three firefighters killed by flames in washington state. dozens of dangerous wildfires are burning across the west. oregon governor has invoked an emergency act to devote more resources to fighting the flames. chris martinez is in twisp, washington, where a community is now coping with the tragic loss. >> reporter: there is an aerial assault on a fast moving wildfire in the cascade mountains in washington state. it has destroyed at least 16,000 acres and killed three u.s. forest service firefighters. richard wheeler, andrew zajac and tom bre shelf ski died wednesday. they crashed their car and then wind-drifben flames rolled over them. 20-year-old bre shelf ski died protecting his community. he was supposed to start his junior college next week. >> i wish i could take the day back and not let him go to work. >> reporter: four others were injured. daniel lions has third degree bones over his entire body. >> his mom and dad are so proud of him. he adores the community. >> reporter: the deadly accident stunned the residents in the town of twisp. >> it's hard because we all know each other's kids so well. >> reporter: over that ridge where you see the big plume of smoke is where the fire is burning. firefighters say dry conditions and perfect winds is a perfect stage. >> reporter: nearly 29,000 firefighters are on the front lines of some 100 fires burning across the west. chris martinez, cbs news, twisp, washington. well, july was the earth's hottest month ever. the average temperature was nearly 62 degrees. that's about one and a half degrees above the 20th century average for july. an underground explosion knocked out power last night to much of downtown los angeles including the staples center. country star shin nia twain was performing at the venue when the lights briefly went out. firefighters believe it was caused by a nearby generator explosion. four people suffered minor injuries. and hurricane danny may have a short life in the atlantic. it reached hurricane status yesterday but it's already expected to weaken by tomorrow. eric fisher of our boston station wbz is tracking the storm. >> the tropical storm is in multiple locations. we'll start off with danny. it's a small compact hurricane but it's packing a punch. it's a fighter, intensifying overnight. there's a window of intensification over the next 24 hours. here's the pacific, another tropical storm here. this will strengthen and probably be tropical storm hilo. danny will weaken as it approaches the islands and heading over to the british and virgin islands. i'll going to keep a close eye on it over the next couple of days. key lo kilo will take a sweep here. very uncertain of the track of kilo. this is one to keep very close attention on. this is a track that can be very darmgs for hawaii. and in the lower 48 watching a potent system to kick off the weekend. severe weather is likely on saturday in places like the twin cities. behind it a punch of cooler air, a cooler taste for fall. i'm eric >> reporter: 46,000 voters turned out for the last gop presidential primary. nearly that many people are expected tonight. usually they host college football but the friday night-lights this week will shine on donald trump. >> they went to a room that held 2,000 people and heard that wasn't big enough and the convention wasn't big enough. there's going to end up being 30,000 to 40,000 people in alabama. >> reporter: he offed up his plan for deportation calling on the papers of undocumented workers and called their children anchor babies. >> we're a diverse country. that's a virtue. that's a strength of our country. >> reporter: bush has also used the term "anchor baby" in the past and defended using it. >> i don't. i don't regret, do you have a better term? if you have a better term, i'll use it. i'm serious. >> reporter: bob j jindal suggested the former secretary of state would be guilty of perjury if she hasn't turned over all her e-mails. >> i mean folks she's one e-mail away from going to jail. do you understand that? >> reporter: and when florida senator marco rubio suffered a brief outage during a campaign in michigan, he blamed clinton. >> that was the democrats. that was hillary clinton's server. >> reporter: the clinton's campaign has insisted she did not send any e-mails marked classified on her server. those e-mails also got the attention of the federal judge yesterday who said he would push the fbi to recover any deleted filing found on hillary clinton's server. well, the rape trial of an elite prep school graduate will resume next week. court resumed yesterday after an emotional testimony from the alleged victim. anna werner reports. >> reporter: jay carney hammered away at the 16-year-old girls account of the alleged rape like her admission she laughed out of nervousness at times during the encounter. >> would it be fair to say he couldn't know that you were uncomfortable because you were laughi laughing. >> no. >> that is not fair to say? for small cancers on his brain. he was relaxed and matter of fact as he talked about his condition thursday. bill plante was there. >> reporter: all cancers are melanomas which usually occur on the skin but rarely internally. he said it's likely to show up elsewhere on his body. was it difficult at all to go ahead and try with treatment. i mean does your faith play any role or did you consider at any time not doing anything else at all? >> when they said they wanted to go ahead and treat that, i'm perfectly at ease with that. i'm perfectly at ease with whatever comes. i do have deep religious faith and am prepared. i was pleasantly surprised i didn't go into despair or anger or anything like that. i was completely at ease. >> reporter: mr. carter described getting calls from all of his successors including obama and others in the administration. he's sometimes been critical of all of them. >> the vice president called, clinton called, hillary clinton, the secretary of state. it's the first time they called in a long time. >> reporter: asked if there was anything he would have done differently, the 39th president said he wished he would have sent one more helicopter. >> if swimming in chest deep water thursday near myrtle beach. he was treated on the beach and then taken to the hospital with nonlife-threatening injuries. an amazing discovery of a sunken treasure after the coast of florida. a salvage company found a shipwreck in about six feet of water off vero beach. it's tree mains of a 16th century ship that held gold coins. they held coins worth $4.5 million. >> of unarmed black men by police. now it's a national organization with a list of demands that include a decrease in law enforcement spending and a reinvestment into the black community most defb stated by poverty. >> it's a really beautifully diverse movement. >> reporter: labor organizer arne goggans is the chair. >> they're oh proesing black peel and they're oh proesing black people in a lot of
