And it is just yet another example of the republicans using israel and antisemitism for their own political purposes. Every day you can say you made the Senate Majority leader, Chuck Schumer says the senate will not take up the legislation. They took part in this simulated mass casualty event in the hospital emergency room. Their job was to respond to a powerful explosion at a major sports event in the bay area. Emergency workers wore hazmat suits during the drill as they treated the patients covered in an unknown white powder. This is really a critical part of our readiness for any sort of major disaster incidents here in the bay area that is outside of our normal day to day operations at the hospital can be very disruptive, and so practicing and preparing for that helps us be ready to save lives. If we encounter such a scenario. Now, the Santa Clara Valley Medical Center normally conducts three disaster drills every year, but yesterdays drill was one of the biggest ever. The rising tensions out there moments after at least a dozen people were arrested. This sucks. This is a 3 or 4 break ins in the past two months. Several break ins in broad daylight in one oakland neighborhood, with one homeowner says about seeing the same group of criminals who keep coming back to break into homes. On his street. From ktvu fox two news this is mornings on two. Well, good morning to you and thank you for joining us. Welcome to mornings on two. Im dave clark. Good morning im pam cook. Its friday may 17th. Some gray some clouds some fog out there to yeah call cold. And steve says some drizzle as well. No doubt weve had a lot of reports here, especially in the Higher Elevations. Its a cooler pattern. Were running about 2 to 5 degrees cooler than yesterday. At this time. The wind turned more west northwest on the coast and that does it. So 50s on the temps. Almost everyone says cloudy to mostly cloudy. Theres a bigger fog bank today, so its in place, but were working for the weekend. But boy, ill tell you, its a cool start as we go in. It looks like even a cooler weekend fog slowly burns back. It takes a while for some, but sunny, breezy to windy inland and 60s and 70s on the temps at best. All right, sometimes the morning commute can be notorious. Lets hope its not on a friday. Its friday light. We hope. Yes we do. Just turn me loose, steve. Ill get you going. Ill turn you loose. You . Yeah yes, sir. Yes, sir. Thank you. Lets go to the bay bridge toll plaza. It is doing pretty well here. If you are doing the drive into San Francisco, though, there are no major problems. You know, you might just get lucky and have a great day, but were just getting started, so dont worry about the commute right now. Well worry about it in a couple of hours. Westbound san mateo bridge traffic looks good and there have been no problems in the south bay. Now at 501. Lets get back to the headlines. All right. So we have a developing story in berkeley. 12 protesters were arrested near the cal campus last night. Theyre accused of being part of a group of propalestinian protesters who took over a vacant building owned by the university. Ktvu is ali rasmus is here with us now and tells us 20 different Law Enforcement agencies were brought in to clear out that building. Good morning alex. Good morning dave. Yeah, a large police response. Uc berkeley brought in police from as far away as fairfield and foster city to help them clear an ahead hall on channing way near peoples park. Free palestine here, police in riot gear formed a line around the building. They brought in those barricades you see there, and then University Workers were able to go into the building to start clearing away some of the trash and belongings of the protesters. There was graffiti scrawled in some of the walls inside that uc berkeley owned building. The protesters started occupying that building earlier this week. Now, before the camp was broken up last night, protesters chanted support for palestine and the war in gaza. No one from the encampment spoke to the media last night as all this was happening, but uc berkeley says it considers that occupation of its university owned building a crime, not free speech, and says the 12 people who were arrested will likely be charged on suspicion of burglary, conspiracy and vandalism. Now, the University Says it plans to disclose the names and affiliations of the 12 people arrested. We reached out to the university and the chp for more information on the clearing of that building last night, but at this point, we know there were no injuries reported, but 12 people arrested dave and pam will send it back to you. Okay, ali. Thank you. Well in person classes at uc irvine will be back this morning after classes were held remotely because of a tense standoff between police and propalestine protesters. Now, the protesters were ordered to leave an encampment after it was declared an unlawful assembly. 47 people were arrested, including students, uci employees and people not affiliated with the school for not leaving the campus after classes were held remotely yesterday. Normal classes will be held today with extra police on the campus. Well new this morning. Trucks carrying humanitarian aid for palestinians in the gaza strip have rolled across a pier built by the us for the first time. Todays shipment is the first in an operation that American Military Officials Say could handle up to 150 truckloads a day. Meanwhile, in washington, dc, House Republicans voted to pass a bill to reverse President Bidens freeze on sending a shipment of weapons to israel as it plans to invade the Southern Gaza city of rafah. Democrats are calling the bill a political stunt by republicans, as President Biden defies the will of congress with his use of executive privilege. He is brazenly doing so by withholding congressionally mandated aid. Everything it calls for. The administration is already doing. And it is just yet another example of the republicans using israel and antisemitism for their own political purposes. Every day you can say you made the Senate Majority leader, Chuck Schumer says the senate will not take up the legislation. And the white house has already said President Biden would veto the bill if it makes it to his desk. Now our coverage of the war in gaza, as well as the protests here in the bay area, continues online on our website, ktvu. Com. Our time now. 504 new this morning, two separate incidents in louisville, kentucky are disrupting the pga championship right now. The Golf Tournament is delayed because of an accident near the golf course. In the meantime, espn is reporting the number one ranked golfer in the world, scottie scheffler, was detained and handcuffed by the police. Scheffler whos right now tied for 12th place, won the Masters Tournament back in april. Time its 5 06 a. M. Frustrated People Living on a street in oakland say the same thieves continue to break into their homes. There have been three brazen home burglaries in broad daylight in the Redwood Heights neighborhood in just the past six weeks. One of the crimes earlier this week was captured on this Surveillance Video. It shows two masked burglars running out of a home. One man holding a pillowcase at the victim says was filled with jewelry that had just been stolen from her bedroom. Im just busting my home and take my things like its no problem. Its terrifying. Its frustrating. Now the People Living on reinhard drive say all three of the breakins have occurred between the hours of noon and 4 p. M. They say these bold thieves dont seem to care that everyone can see them breaking into homes. They were, you know, certainly not put off by somebody seeing them commit a crime. It seems like this was kind of a normal practice for them. Now neighbors are also took a photo of what they believe is the thieves car, a black bmw sedan. The People Living on the street suspect their homes, which is close to highways 13 and 580, make them a target for thieves making a quick getaway. Concord police are looking for the people who tried to force their way inside two businesses just minutes apart. Surveillance video shows two white infinities approaching the businesses monday night. Micro measurements and pacific instruments is located on pike lane and its clients include nasa, the military and defense contractors. It is believed the same crew also tried to break into hsd engineering. That company repairs equipment for national labs, aerospace and semiconductor companies. I wish i knew we both happen to be in very highly specified fields and it is a strange coincidence that we both get hit back to back on the same night. Get this, get this. The thieves rammed one of the cars into the garage door, but could not get in because a forklift was parked behind the door. Ktvu has learned that the car was stolen and later recovered by antioch police. Nothing was stolen from either business in the attempted break ins. Tom is 508. Today is the day highway one in big sur is due to reopen later this morning. A stretch of the highway near rocky creek bridge, south of the carmel highlands, had major storm damage at the beginning of april. That part of highway one thats reopening today will have round the clock Traffic Control out there, caltrans says. This temporary traffic signal will give unrestricted Public Access with one way alternating traffic north and southbound. Lots of gray in place here. We had it yesterday. Summit lasted until noon. I think today will be very similar. Theres just too much low clouds and fog and we were actually cooler than 24 hours ago. So the may gray and plays june gloom, whatever you want to call it. Bigger fog bank drizzle. Weve had some pretty good reports here. Tilden park. 09. Bonnie doon. 04, davenport. 03 and santa rosa. Numerous reports of a couple one hundredths on the drizzle, more of a northwest or a westerly little, little lows right here. Hold on. Ill melt down right there. This is right off of point reyes. A little low right there. Coastal eddy. And that is increasing that onshore breeze. So and the water temps at least point reyes and point arena came down and one of the monterey buoys came down. San francisco buoys still 55, but the waters cold enough and it doesnt take much. And if youve noticed, april may have favored fog and travis west to 21. Coming down a little bit. But the low clouds have made it all the way out there, usually at least nearby 59 mount veeder. They do have a northerly breeze, but Oakland Hills 47 southwest 17 Boulder Creek also at a cool 47. Just too much gray out there. 40s and 50s on the temps. All 50s here. But we are running cooler. And take your pick. Livermore minus one to san carlos minus four, novato minus four, and petaluma is five degrees cooler than yesterday at this time. So if it feels cooler to you, it is. Theres just too much fog in place here for us to warm up that much. So well go with 5060s by the coast and then 70 inland. Drizzle, as we showed you will be with us this morning, probably again tonight into tomorrow as well. Coastal hills getting the most are down towards santa cruz, Santa Cruz Mountains. Some activity could pop up. Thunderstorm activity in the mountains on late sunday, monday, tuesday. So truckee kirkwood mammoth being highlighted there. Stratus quo. Low overcast. Drizzle. Fog then sun. Nice to mild day. Breezy to downright windy for some 50 6070. Thank you steve. An unprovoked attack inside a Grocery Store. Coming up. The moment that has People Living in one San Francisco neighborhood on edge this morning and at the state capitol, more than a thousand bills scrutinized by lawmakers and were on the chopping block. Well tell you about the proposed laws that survived and then advan d did my legs shrink . I can move them. I mean, i knew Alaska Airlines premium class had extra legroom but this. Huge thunderstorms, tornadic activity that has since moved down into the deep gulf in the gulf coast states, Florida Panhandle and going to miami. 91 new yorks not bad. 73 and denver a beautiful 84. All right, steve, time is 514 at the state capitol. The senate and Assembly Appropriations committees sifting, sifting through more than a thousand bills and blocked a lot of them because of californias budget crunch. Now, in the state assembly, lawmakers passed bills that attempt to crack down on retail theft and a proposed constitutional amendment guaranteeing the right to clean air, clean water and environment. The committees blocked several high profile proposals, including one that was a step towards legalizing psychedelic licks and another that was an attempt to establish a Single Payer Health care system in california. I think its no secret where the budget is today. You know, we have an obligation to balance the budget here in california. We cant go into debt. So we have to be very judicious with the budget. I mean, we definitely there were bills that i have been big supporters of in years past, that its just a challenging budget time and so we needed to be responsible, responsible with taxpayers money , so thats why we had to make some tough calls today. And just last week, Governor Newsom unveiled his proposed spending plan to address the budget deficit. Its estimated at 56 billion over the next two years. The california high speed rail project is moving along most of the 500 mile project connecting San Francisco to los angeles has now received environmental clearance, the Rail Authority reports. The Central Valley is the Building Block of the system, and significant progress is being made in that region, the authority says construction is well underway on the merced to bakersfield stretch, but still years away for service to begin. If we can all just keep the big picture in mind, that will probably not be completed before many of us are on this earth, but we have to look to the future to make sure that this is going to be high speed rail. San diego, la, Central Valley to the bay area. Now, Officials Say the project is on pace to meet its goal to complete the Central Valley section. By the early 2030s. His son matthew was there. Wow. Same thing. Windows were doing this. Wow. So houston was the main scary . Yes, it was really scary, my buddy stu sal knows stu. He called me back about an hour later and said, thank you because it was scary. So we do have a little different twist here today. The wind has turned more westerly versus yesterday when it was southerly. That makes a big difference. I dont think the fog will burn off as soon today as it did yesterday for the peninsula and san jose, and the water temps have come down for a few point arena point rays and one of the monterey buoys. You get more of a west northwest breeze or direction, and that does it onshore for almost everyone. Even atlas peak has a west wind out to pittsburgh, davis point, richmond, San Francisco, oakland, Berkeley Hills and theres just a lot of gray out there. The may gray 50s on the temps here for most, but we are running about 1 to 5 degrees cooler than yesterday at this time. Petaluma minus five and there are a few 40s. Occidental 47, bodega bay 48. Sebastopol 49. Novato is now 49. Low 50s, though for many. 5051 richmond, 51 even up to cloverdale and healdsburg. So theres some cool temps. These are much cooler than yesterday. We had mid 50s to upper 50s. Its as gray as far as you can see, thats for sure. And i think its going to be slow to burn off today and temperatures will struggle. I think well see 5060s by the water and only 70s inland. Drizzle looks likely again tonight into tomorrow morning if youre heading to the mountains, not today or tomorrow, but maybe sunday, monday, tuesday. Some thunderstorm activity could pop up. Truckee kirkwood mammoth being highlighted. There stratus quo. Low overcast drizzle, mainly 50s for lows with a few 40s, but its going to be a slow burn off here for some here. 50 6070 on the temps here. Cooler into saturday. Theyve all taken place in broad daylight, sometimes while neighbors are watching. One crime took place earlier this week on monday afternoon, and it was captured on surveillance camera two. It shows two masked men, burglars running out of a home. You see it here . One man holding a pillowcase. The victim says was filled with jewelry that had been stolen from her bedroom. That homeowner says she is both scared and angry. To just bust in my home and take my things like its no problem. Its terrifying. Its frustrating. Well, the People Living on reinhardt drive say all three breakins have been between the hours of noon and four, and they say these bold thieves dont seem to care that anyone can see them breaking into those homes. One neighbor says he screamed at them while they were driving away. So they were, you know, certainly not put off by somebody seeing them commit a crime. It seems like this was kind of a normal practice for them. Neighbors say they have taken a photo of the thieves car. Its a black bmw sedan. The People Living on this street suspect their homes close proximity to highways 13 and 580 make them an attractive target for thieves. Looking for a quick getaway . Weve reached out to the Oakland Police department. Officers would only confirm that there have been three recent home break ins on that block. Dave. All right, andre, thank you. Time now, 612. Well, the Homeless Count for San Francisco was released. The numbers are showing some mixed results. The citys point in time count shows homelessness in San Francisco increased by 7 between 2022 and 2024. At the same time, city leaders are proud to point out the number of People Living on the streets in tents or in vehicles is going down. The number of unsheltered homeless went down by 1 since 2022, and by 16 when you compare it to 2019. Almost half of the citys Homeless Population right now is sheltered. Now the city report points out that Youth Homelessness has dropped by 9. However, the number of families that are homeless went up by 94 since 2022 to 437 families. The city also found that its chronically Homeless Population went up by 9. Well, then 2900 people have been identified now as being chronically homeless. The city is currently testing sending other calls, such as trespassing and suspicious persons, involving Homeless People to the hart team as well. Time is 614. Also back by popular demand, the collectible street fest wine glass, the tradition was replaced with recyclable cups during the pandemic. Time now is 616, and right now weve been looking at the south bay. We dont see any sign of any slow traffic there, which is nice. Dont get me wrong, i dont i dont really want anything to do. I just want to be sitting around here not talking about much. However, there is a car fire or there was a car fire on the san mateo bridge. You can see the Fire Department there on the left. If youre driving, lets say from foster city over to hayward, there is going to be a momentary slowdown. It does look like theyve momentarily stopped traffic there. You see, no one is getting by. And i think theyre just waiting. Theyre just letting the emergency vehicles leave the scene. So i do think that we are going to be in better shape in just a little bit. Lets talk about the bay bridges a little bit more of a backup here, although it is not the normal backup. Still, there is one at the toll plaza. You can see via our air Traffic Camera. 617 lets talk about todays weather. And here, steve, i dont want to do much either, sal, but i have to. You know what i mean . Whats gotta jump right into it . There you go. All right. Water temps cooled down from yesterday. Point rays down two. San Francisco Bowie down one and one of the monterey bowies also cooled off. Why because the wind turned more westerly northwesterly versus southerly yesterday. And that makes a big difference. Onshore breeze San Francisco davis point pittsburghs turned northerly, but its more of a westerly breeze for many. Even most locations have an onshore breeze. Travis has actually come down a little bit. They were up to 35, but low clouds made it all the way out. Well, out into the sacramento valley. So to make it simple terms, were done. Were just not going to warm up that much when the low clouds make it that far. We are running cooler this morning. 50s, temps, few 40s, but anywhere from 1 to 5 degrees cooler. With the napa airport and petaluma leading the way. Five degrees cooler this morning than yesterday. At this time, a lot of 50s, low 50s. I mean, el sobrante is 51. Pinole kensingtons 50 orindas 51 north dublin, clayton 49 cool degrees. Those are much cooler than yesterday, thats for sure. Just too much gray. I would expect that to continue tonight into saturday. A series of systems will kind of carve themselves out over the west. The high is too far offshore, cant really do too much morning fog. Its still warm, well inland. But i mean for my forecast zone, big fog, bank, windy and cooler going into the weekend. Drizzle looks to be likely here. Not only this morning. Weve tilden parks at about a 10th of an inch of drizzle. The last 24 hours. I would think more so tonight into tomorrow. The only thing ill mention if youre going to the mountains early next week could be some thunderstorm activity. But for us, a quiet, cool pattern for many. All right. Sounds nice. Thank you steve. Todays shipment is the first in an operation that American Military Officials Say could handle up to 150 truckloads a day. Meanwhile, in washington, d. C. House republicans voted to pass a bill to reverse President Bidens freeze on sending a shipment of weapons to israel as it plans to invade the Southern Gaza city of rafah. Democrats are calling the bill a political stunt by republicans, as President Biden defies the will of congress with his use of executive privilege, he is brazenly doing so by withholding congressionally mandated aid. Everything it calls for the administration is already doing. And it is just yet another example of the republicans using israel and antisemitism for their own political purposes. Every day you can say you made the world truly a better. Senate majority leader Chuck Schumer says the senate will not take up the legislation, and the white house has already said President Biden would veto the bill if it makes it to his desk at the state capitol. The senate and Assembly Appropriations committees sifted through more than 1000 bills. They blocked many of them because of californias budget crunch. Now they passed bills that attempt to crack down on retail theft and a proposed constitutional amendment guaranteeing the right to clean air, clean water and the environment. However, the committees blocked several high profile proposals, including one that was a step toward the legalization of psychedelics and another that was an attempt to establish a Single Payer Health care system in california. I think its no secret where the budget is today. You know, we have an obligation to balance the budget here in california. We cant go into debt. So we have to be very judicious with the budget. I mean, we definitely there were bills that i have been big supporters of in years past, that its just a challenging budget time. And so we needed to be responsible responsible with taxpayers money, so thats why we had to make some tough calls today. Just last week, Governor Newsom unveiled his proposed spending plan to address the budget deficit, estimated at 56 billion over the next two years. Now, one bill that did pass an important hurdle will require the state to issue a formal apology for slavery. The bill requires the state to apologize for its role in instituting slave laws and discriminatory practices. The bill is part of a package of measures introduced back in february, meant to bring reparations to descendants of people who were enslaved. It now heads to the state senate, a bill that would give local governments more control over Autonomous Vehicles in california is one step closer to becoming law. The oversight for Autonomous Vehicle Services Bill advanced out of the Senate Appropriations committee. Next up, the full senate. Now, if approved, it would allow cities and counties to set their own guidelines for Autonomous Vehicles instead of the state regulating them. The california high speed rail project is moving along most of the 500 mile project connecting San Francisco to los angeles has now received environmental clearance. The Rail Authority reports. Construction is well underway on the merced to bakersfield stretch, but still years away from service to begin. Officials say the project is on pace, though, to meet its goal to complete the Central Valley section by early 2030. All right, this is a story. You have to see the video in washington, a Home Security video caught a cougar coming in within feet of a family while chasing their pets in their backyard. Take a look. A giant cougar jumps out of a hiding place to chase the familys cat across the yard. As the cougar chases the familys pet, it comes within feet of a mother, daughter and their dog. The cougar pauses, chasing the cat, and glances at the family. The family and its pets did escape, and the big cat took off. Shortly after that. Westbound 92, traffic is going to be busy. If youre driving to the bay bridge toll plaza. Triple a Traffic Camera showing about a 5 to 10 minute delay. 631 lets go back to the headlines. All right. Thank you. Sal a lot of people in and around big sur are certainly happy. As repairs on highway one are now complete. Eight days ahead of schedule. The roads reopening this morning after being closed more than six weeks because of the massive storms we had in march. Ktvu tori gaines already out there in Monterey County to tell us more about this. Tori, good morning. Good morning dave. Now what happened to this highway is what theyre calling a slip out. But the community is thrilled because repairs are completed today. You may see a few cars pop around the corner behind me because. Because theyve just opened up highway one and people are ready to make their way through. Now one direction convoys were scheduled as a temporary solution when a big storm took out a large chunk of this highway in that slip out. They were also intended only for essential workers and local residents. Now, authorities aim to keep the stress on the roadway to a minimum as repairs were underway some days in april, they canceled the convoys altogether due to wet weather, but crews began working around the clock in midapril to get the roadway repaired. Now, construction on this roadway was tricky business, as you can see in the picture here, a crane held repair crews suspended in a basket over the edge of the roadway, more than 170ft above the ocean, something that could only be done in very specific weather conditions, namely with winds less than 25mph. Now, governor gassen, excuse me, governor gavin newsom visited the site earlier this month when he signed an emergency proclamation which would help secure 100 million in federal funding for repairs across the state due to recent storms. Newsom described the repairs and celebrated the work being completed, saying, quote, thanks to the diligent efforts, traffic will resume eight days ahead of schedule, bringing relief and a sense of normalcy back to one of californias most iconic coastal communities. Now, earlier this morning, we spoke with a gentleman from caltrans. Heres what he had to say about about the repairs and the reopening of the roadway, when even in determining the schedule for convoys, we had, you know, families say, hey, we need a time where we can take our kids to school. And that it was really even though this is an international destination, it comes down to families and residents who live here. This is their main street, this is their central avenue. This is the way they they have their livelihood. And were most happy to return this highway back to them. Now, these repairs, though extensive, are meant to be temporary. Were not expected to see more repairs. Theres currently a design phase in order for permanent repairs here of the roadway, and that will be expected to be completed in spring of 2025. Live in Monterey County tori gaines, ktvu, fox two news okay, tori, thank you. There will also be a partial closure of southbound interstate 680 in the east bay for a road paving project, but caltrans says three southbound lanes are going to be closed between al costa boulevard and san ramon, and the interstate 580 connector in pleasanton. Those lane closures will be starting tonight at 9 00 through 4 a. M. Monday morning, and if youre driving in the area, expect delays. Well, this morning, the worlds top ranked golfer has accused of assaulting a Police Officer. Louisville metro Police Released a mugshot of scottie scheffler, espn reports. There was a crash near the golf course where this weekends pga championship is being held in louisville, kentucky. Espn says there may have been some type of misunderstanding. A Police Report lists charges of Second Degree assault, criminal mischief and reckless driving. Now, scheffler was not part of the car crash that delayed todays start of the pga championship. Police released him. We hear hes back on the course. Scheffler, who is tied for 12th after the first round, won the Masters Tournament in april. Our time is now 636, former President Donald Trump has the day off from his new york trial today. Hell be attending his sons High School Graduation yesterday in court, trumps defense lawyers tried to discredit the testimony of his former attorney, michael cohen. They pointed out several instances where cohen had lied in the past. The jury is going to hear an instruction that very likely that if a witness lies on any aspect, you really have the right to disregard every aspect of the testimony. Now, the trial for donald trump resumes monday. Prosecutors are expected to rest their case, then it will be the turn of the defense to call witnesses. Time now. 636 here at home, a woman is in jail facing charges of felony assault. After what police are calling an unprovoked attack at a store in San Francisco. Now take a look at Surveillance Video showing the victim walking into the kansas food market in the potrero hill neighborhood tuesday afternoon. Moments later, another woman comes in and starts hitting the woman with a bag containing a bottle of whiskey. The attack continues until the shop clerk chases the attacker away. I think the video tells one part of the story, but you know this is a real person with a real history and the video doesnt share with that. History is now. Police arrested 26 year old Jessica Blasi of oakland shortly after the attack. She was in court yesterday. Her lawyer says shes dealing with Serious Mental Health problems. An investigation is underway after a home in texas went up in flames. Fire Officials Say a neighbor called and reported the home was hit by lightning. A family of ten lives in that home, but fortunately, no one was home at the time of the fire. The grandmother was having a medical procedure the morning of the fire, everything in our house got damaged except for the bible. We just thank god that were still here, that were alive. This is material things you know, and we can get that back. Neighbors started a go fund me, and they are helping the family pay for hotel rooms. All that. Im going to go. I need something to show, though. So we do have drizzle here. A lot of it being reported here. And i think there will be more tonight. Tomorrow. Tilden park with almost a 10th of an inch. Bonny doon. 04. Davenport 0. 03. Santa rosa 0. 02. The wind has turned a little more westerly. Lets see this little low right here. Right there off a point. Rays hanging out a point. Rays that has increased that onshore push well out low clouds have made it all the way to sacramento. How about that . Water temps came down a little bit. Point raised San Francisco bowie came down to 1 degrees point. Arena is still 51 and one of the monterey bowies also dropped one degree. So thats cold water. A lot of low clouds in place here. 50s on the tips, a few 40s, but mainly 50s. We are running a little cooler here compared to yesterday. Pacifica 49, Montara Beach 51, Half Moon Bay 51, woodside 51. After that, its a lot of mid 50s, but anywhere from 1 to 5 degrees cooler compared to yesterday. At this time. Petaluma and napa airport leading the charge there out of the gate at minus five. Too much gray and drizzle and with low clouds make it out to fairfield and all the way to sacramento. Were done. Just cant get that warm here. So 60s and 70s, morning fog, drizzle, sunny, but temperatures really for the weekend. Looks like they will favor a little bit cooler. More than warmer. Maybe early next week. We could get a little bump up on the temps. Drizzle i think will be with us again tonight into saturday morning, so were not done with that yet. One interesting item though is the system swings in. Could be some thunderstorm activity popping up over the mountains probably monday tuesday of next week. So truckee, kirkwood and Mammoth Lakes being highlighted there. Stratus duo low overcast, gray over the bays, we like to say. And some of that is slow to retreat. So 5060s by the water 60s 70s inland temperatures near average to below. And i dont think theyre changing all that much until maybe early next week. Just to be able to work here and be able to design and touch something that will one day travel to a new planet is amazing. I mean, another honor for nasa to add to its resume is the latest nomination that has nothing to do wit a ominous music teacher . But its still true. There are four states of matter. Tickets will cost just 3. 50, and a regular sized popcorn thatll cost just two bucks. Some of the movies include Indiana Jones and the temple of doom and princes movie purple rain. Well, the Summer Travel season is shaping up to be one of the busiest on record. The tsa announced it is expecting more than 26,000 flights every day through labor day. Thats nearly a 6 increase from 2023. To get you ready for memorial day weekend, lets bring in john treanor with triple a northern california. And john, many of us are going to drive somewhere. Were not flying. Were going to be on the roads. You see that as a big trend this year . Yeah record breaking travel, as you mentioned. That means record breaking travel on the roadways. To give you some perspective here, triple a is expecting 5. 6 million californians to be traveling more than 4 million will be doing it behind the wheel of their car. What are some tips you can give me . You know, to, first of all, to stay safe . The usual keeping your tires, you know, inflated to get you better gas mileage. But also what about gasoline . Is that going to be really expensive . And maybe i want to stay closer to home. You know, most americans will be driving, as we mentioned, and that means theyre going to be going to the pump and filling up. We dont expect a tremendously large hike in gas prices between now and memorial day, but you might see a bump of a few cents per gallon. The interesting thing is we have not seen gas prices affect peoples want to travel. Those planned road trips for vacations. Americans for the past few years have been doing that regardless of the cost of gasoline, and we expect that to continue this year. As for tips, well, were at a service station right now and we recommend every american. Does that trip go to a service station . You mentioned tires, tires, batteries and fluids last year, about 90,000 californians called triple a for help when they were stuck on the roadside. Most of that were dead batteries or blown tires, both of which can get affected as the weather starts to heat up. Yeah, things like having a good spare, having your tires inflated. One of the things that i know is that unfortunate early memorial day weekend, labor day weekend, some of the bigger holidays, 4th of july associated with some pretty serious wrecks sometimes because maybe some people are getting into crashes. Anything you can recommend for drivers to be extra alert out there . Know that theres a lot of people on the roadways. Youre not alone out there and Everyone Wants to get to their destination safely. You really want to make sure youre taking all the precautions you typically do, but know that youre going to be stuck in traffic. You might be taking some extra time. Plan for a longer trip than you usually expect. One route in particular, San Francisco to napa. That were expecting to be about an hour and 40 minute trip on friday. Thats going to be the busiest time to travel, but know if you know ahead of time that a lot of people are going through it with you, give someone some extra space and some extra time. Try to avoid wrecks. Yeah. One last question here, john, the you know, the roads are going to be crowded and all that, but is there some sort of an off peak trip, for example, i would not leave on a thursday or on a friday before memorial day. I would travel at a different time. So any tips on that . You know, if you could wait, by all means do that. Thursday is the unofficial kickoff to this road tripping season, and really 11 00 in the morning to 7 p. M. That could be your busiest times. The early bird avoids the traffic. As we say, if you can get out before 11 00 in the morning, we really recommend you do that. Thats thursday and friday and coming home. If youre coming home on memorial day monday, youre going to want to push that until after 7 p. M, when traffic is the lightest but remote work has made it possible for a lot of people to maybe extend that day into tuesday. So youre going to see this long weekend, maybe get even longer for some john traynor triple a thank you for all that good information. Thanks for joining us. Thanks so much. All right. Lets go right to the triple a Traffic Camera here and show you the bay bridge toll plaza. It is backed up heading west. There have been no major problems driving on the bridge itself. San mateo bridge, still a little bit busy. People are gawking at a problem. Eastbound. It was a car fire, so theres still a little bit of something to look at there on that span, Silicon Valley commute has not really filled in much. Weve seen a little slowing on 101, and thats about all for now. At 649, what is the weather going to be like this weekend . Lets bring steve in. Its a lot of pressure, sal. Thank you i appreciate that. Now. Itll be cool. Sal. Were starting that way with a low cloud deck. When the low cloud deck makes it out to sacramento. So i mean, you know and i know thats a big push for midmay and thats going to end up with temperatures being in the 60s and 70s at best. Were starting off 50s. It is cooler this morning than yesterday by about 2 to 5 degrees. Boulder creek felton 51 hollisters down to 52 san martin, santa cruz, aptos. Then mid 50s. There circling the wagons around santa clara, cupertino, saratoga, campbell and san jose. Just a lot of gray there, some local drizzle. Weve had about a 0. 01 to a 10th of an inch. Some of the Higher Elevations low is going to sweep down in dragging across another front here. Now its not that dynamic or anything but morning fog drizzle, sunny, breezy and looks a little cooler going into saturday. Maybe even sunday before maybe a possible rebound early next week. But everything is favoring more cool than any heat or anything. And drizzle will be with us nights and mornings traveling. Some people do this time of year, and maybe the mountains early next week. Could be dealing with some thunderstorm activity as being highlighted here for truckee, kirkwood and Mammoth Lakes. Thats next early next week, probably monday or tuesday. Stratus close in place, fog, then sun. But it may take a while for this fog to burn off. Well, it was the case yesterday for some not south, but it was north and today i think will be similar. Although it does look a little cooler, maybe a little rebound on those temps early next week. All right steve thank you. Our time now. 651 nasa was named for the 12th Straight Year as the best large agency to work for in the federal government, just to be able to work here and be able to design and touch something that will one day travel to a new planet is amazing.
