This morning, all of california is right now under a shelterin place order. Governor newsom is ordering all 40 million californians to stay home because of the coronavirus. How on peoples behaviors and how well the state can growing threat. Now, the or is asking the federal government for more than a billion dollars in emergency funding. And says as many as 25 Million People in california alone could eventually be infected. Almost every bay area kound now reporting a rise in the number of coronavirus cases. Combined, there are 460 people infected here in the bay area. Santa clara county has the most, 189 cases. There are zero confirmed cases in napa county. Today, San Jose City officials will talk about their efforts to try to keep the virus from spreading. Meantime, a reserve San Jose Police officer is recovering now after becoming infected and said it feels like a bad flu. Today, negotiations are scheduled to continue on capitol hill over a 1 trillion coronavirus Economic Relief package. Members of president trumps Economic Team are meeting with senators, working on the plan. The proposed legislation would give 1,200 checks directly to taxpayers and 300 billion 300 billion to small businesses. The plan would also pr for commercial airlines and 8 billion for air cargo carriers. It wont come soon enough for at least one airline. Minneapolis based Compass Airline says it is shutting down ceasing operations april 7th. Passengers made it impossible to fly even minimal schedules. The state department is warning americans to avoid all travel during this pandemic. In countries where commercial flights are available, americans are urged to return home immediately or risk being stranded for an indefinite period of time. They have not ruled out the possibility of banning all air travel internationally. The coronavirus has infected more than 229,000 people. The family of a jeffery gazaran says he flew to orlando march 2nd for a business trip. He stayed a couple days longer to visit disney world and universal studios. He started coughing up blood on march 8th after running home he went to the hospital. He was diagnosed with pneumonia but tests later revealed he had covid19. He died yesterday morning. Political activists in San Francisco will distribute tents to the homeless. Members of the democratic socialists of america are drawing attention to the plight of the homeless during this pandemic. They will be havending out more than 100 sets of tents, sleeping bags, and masks by the end of the month. San francisco leaders say theyre making progress in getting shelters to the homeless to limit their exposure to the virus. The homeless who test positive for the virus but dont need to go into the hospital are being isolated at a local hotel. The city opening to eventually lock down 3,500 hotel rooms for them. And Stanford University has moved to online learning. All campus courses will transition now to an online format for the rest of the spring quarter because of the coronavirus situation. The start of the quarter will also be delayed a week and begin on april 6th. Obviously, people who work in essential industries are still going to work. I think the bay area is kind of up to it now. The state is the same thing. So youre still going to have people going to their jobs at supermarkets, hospitals, first responders, but a lot of people who can are working from home as we transition. As we transition to interstate 880 in oakland theres not much of a commute. Public transportation is open and theres plenty of room for you. You dont have to sit next to anyone. Couple of systems taking aim at us here. But look at what the rainfall projections are focused on. Santa rosa and san jose is poised to pick up pretty good rain. Not so much to the north.
