Some light rain falling over highway 101 and then in true the central part of the area we have the peninsula covered from San Francisco all the way to san mateo. East bay, scattered showers. Into the north bay, widespread here as well. Nevada, petaluma, and just about areas over sanapa getting at the moment. We will continue with the possibility of showers throughout the morning. By the second part of the day, a bit of a break. Today, Sonoma County officials will be disrupting details about the countys First Community spread of the coronavirus. Sonoma county has three confirmed cases of the virus now. Another test is pending for an individual who was in contact with someone who had already tested positive. Two ucsf Health Workers have tested positive for the virus but according to the chronicle, the workers are currently under quarantine. San francisco announced five new cases of the virus bringing the citys total to 28. Santa clara saw a jump in the 17 new cases, bringing the countys total to 91. Marin is reporting two new cases, bringing their countys total to 5. In california, there are 368 confirmed cases of the five state. California is one of four states in the u. S. With the largest known outbreaks. The other states include washington, new york, and massachusetts. An Alaska Airlines agent at sfo has tested positive for coronavirus. The employee is a Customer Service agent in the Airports International terminal and was last at work on march 10. On friday, that agent learned they tested positive for the virus. The test from did several employees who came into contact with the infected person to be quarantined. Uc berkeley says a graduate student has tested positive for coronavirus. The school says the student does not live on campus or in the city of berkeley. The student also does not have serious symptoms and is in self isolation. The school says it is working to reach people who may have been in contact with that student. Churches are adjusting to the coronavirus pandemic and are banning large gatherings. Reporter the bay church in concord is one of those churches were sometimes thousands of people attend on sundays. This is going to be a big change for a lot of the worshipers. One thing that the bay church is doing is theyre offering drivethrough service. They are also going online. This dry through option is something that the church has been offering for several years on weekdays but now it is being strongly encouraged to prevent further spread of coronavirus. Attendees can participate at home as well by watching a livestream. I am going to really miss all the people in sunday school , all of the people that i sit with in church. We just have such a good time together. We love each other. It is going to be difficult in that regard but it will be nice knowing they are all participating in worship. Reporter several churches will stay open for sunday service. This includes alan temple in oakland. I notice went out to the Church Community on their Facebook Page that tells people they have been depleting the church and they advise anyone who feels sick to stay home. Also, the archbishop of San Francisco met with priests earlier this week to discuss how the Catholic Church will respond to the coronavirus. Sunday mass in the San Francisco area will not be canceled. They say the Health Officer does not classify places of worship as Mass Gatherings. Despite San FranciscoCatholic Church is staying open, santa clara Catholic Churches have canceled service this weekend. Contra costa county s temporary ban on Mass Gatherings takes effect today. Any public or private meeting of 100 or more people, anyplace in the county is now prohibited through the end of the month. The Contra Costa CountyHealth Department says this is one of many drastic moves that are needed during this health crisis. We are not asking the sheriff and Police Departments to drive around and look for parties and gatherings. We are really asking for the community to understand that this is a really key time for social distancing. Batman took effect at midnight. Contra costa now joins the growing number of bay area counties that have and large gatherings all in response to the pandemic. The city is expanding an existing loan program during this health crisis. The mayor says the program will provide health for the growing number of Small Businesses now struggling due to the pandemic. Traffic is being monitored between colfax and the nevada state line. Chains or snow tires are required on portions of highway 89 and in some portions of the mountains. All that fresh snow might be tempting a lot of skiers and snowboarders to head up the hill but several tahoe resorts are shut down. Kirkwood, north star, heavenly, squaw valley, Alpine Meadows are among the resorts that will stay closed for at least this week because of coronavirus. Visitors who got in one last day on the slopes did not seem too concerned about getting sick. I want to get up here and have fun. Life is short. Everyone is in a panic right now. I am not. I work in a hospital. I am not worried at all. The resort will use this time to figure out what is the best way to react. They say they are taking extra steps to make sure everything is clean but are waiting for more guidance before they announce when they will be back open for business. Police in san leandro investigating a shooting that killed two men. Officers found the man inside a car friday night on east 14th street. One victim was pronounced dead at the scene and the other died at a hospital. Police say the victims and the gunmen reportedly spoke before shots were fired but police dont have the person who killed the men in custody and they dont know a motive for the shooting. San Francisco Police are searching for clues in a homicide in the tenderloin district. The shooting happened just before 2 am on saturday near the callister and jones street. Officers found the victim suffering from at least one gunshot wound. That person was pronounced dead at the scene. Police have not released other details about the incident.
