of highway 101 are now open again after the entire highway was shut down in the area earlier this morning because of a crash. the driver of the car lost control and hit the center divide and a truck hauling a load of gravel right rear ended that car. chp said the driver of the car was intoxicated. >> the holidays are coming. we know there's going to be get- togethers, most of the time alcohol involved. plan ahead. there are so many options nowadays that this shouldn't be happening. >> one person in the gravel inj car was also involved in the pile up. san francisco business leaders want city officials to do more about drug overdoses. our rally is set for 9:30 this morning outside city hall. supervisor matt hayes says he will propose an emergency plan on drug use at 11:00. he's calling it a public health crisis. this comes after a recent city report that found mass related deaths have increased sevenfold in front san francisco over the last decade. oracle corporation recently announced its moving the open world conference out of san francisco down to las vegas because of the condition on city streets and the cost of hotel rooms. three people charged with supplying the drugs that kill the santa rosa man and his son. federal authorities charged them with distributing the drug that led to the deaths of pat patrick o'neill and his son william in september. the u.s. attorney for the northern district of california says the charges highlight the spread of the epidemic. he says the sentinel that killed them was sold in san francisco's tenderloin district. >> the idea is that the harms of the neighborhood, the idea that they are contained in the neighborhood is completely false . those harms reach out into our communities. >> authorities say it is unclear how the drug actually ended up in the baby system. the suspects in this case have been charged with federal crimes, which means if convicted they could face longer sentences. prosecutors will present their case today against a woman accused of running over a barber because she was angry about her son's haircut. police the ruby turned herself into authorities yesterday. investigators say the 28-year- old got into a heated argument last week with the barber at delta barbershop. witnesses say the argument escalated. she got in her car and slammed her vehicle into brian martin who then she drove away from. martin is recovering from surgery, including a broken leg. a former football player charged for attacking a police officer. the 19-year-old joseph okun von joe faces two felony counts including resisting arrest. investigators say he assaulted a berkeley police officer and reached for the officers gun during a struggle. he remains in custody at the santa rita jail in dublin. he will return to court tomorrow to enter a plea. police investigating the source of a violent threat at gilroy high school. these threats were not credible, according to investigators. extra officers did patrol the campus. the focus was on a message posted online tuesday on snapchat referring to after school wednesday for the timing of an attack. the gilroy school superintendent says she was notified by police tuesday night after several students saw the online post and reported it. >> we did have police officers here all day. the shooting was right over there. people are in a different place now because we have had a shooting right here in our town. >> i was a little scared because of what happened after the garlic festival. >> this threat comes six months after the deadly mass shooting at the gilroy garlic festival. the school district says some parents kept their children home from school even though the threat was deemed not credible. the house judiciary committee in washington is expected to vote today on two articles of impeachment against president trump trump. the committee is meeting right now. the first articles of impeachment says president trump abused his power by asking the president of ukraine to investigate political rival joe biden. the second article states the president obstructed congress by directing his administration to refuse to comply with congressional subpoenas. yesterday the committee debated the issue. >> the facts here are not in dispute. donald trump withheld $391 million in aid that was essential to ukraine. donald trump withheld a white house meeting unless ukraine's president would do him a favor. wasn't pressured. most importantly, they did nothing to get the aid released. >> if the house judiciary committee votes to put the two articles before the full house, and impeachment vote could happen as soon as next week. from there it would go to the republican-controlled senate for a trial where there seems to be little chance of getting the required votes to remove the president from office. the city has decided to build hundreds of affordable housing units on the parking lots at the north berkeley bart stations. yesterday city council voting unanimously on the project, and it could go out for bid next december. the goal here is to address the city's housing shortage and help fight climate change by encouraging public transportation. opponents say they worry that this project will increase congestion and remove coveted parking spaces for people who don't live within walking distance of the two stations. san bruno police asking for your help in finding this missing woman. the 61-year-old was last seen november 29th at a condominium complex on shelter creek lane. he's described as 5 feet 2 inches tall, 130 pounds with gray hair and prescription eyeglasses. anyone who has seen her is asked to call police. it is eight '08. we check in with a check of the roads. it has been a rainy 580. i remember the days when 880 was slow and 580 was a decent alternate. these days that's not really the case. as we go across the peninsula, you'll see that traffic is slow on 101 in south city and san bruno and headed down. it hasn't been too bad of a commute for the silicon valley except on highway 17 getting from the santa cruz mountains. let's talk to steve about the weather. >> that seems like a long time ago, sal. we will get to it here. we still have some fog but it looks like a little break peninsula south south. the rain will take us into saturday. not continuous, but toward the river, you can be kind of steady . a warm pattern if you can break through the cloud cover, and i think some areas will. san jose, santa cruz, maybe near 70. the line of cloud cover from mid latitude is lifting northward slightly. you can actually see it in the last few. that's why i think there will be a few areas that get son today. san jose at 60. the normal low is december 12th 1242. it wouldn't take much to get up to 67 or 68. same on the peninsula. belmont is at 60 degrees. so is palo alto. a very mild 61. weak pressure is lifting slightly taking some of that moisture. you can see the decrease in some of the cloud cover. it's not going away very long. it will be back tomorrow as another system drops in. friday afternoon and evening, it looks like off and on saturday. a will host one of the events. biden was in las vegas yesterday for a town hall with voters. he dismissed claims that he told aides he would only be serving one term in office if elected president in out of that situation. >> the gunman led police on a chase that started after they robbed a jewelry store. then they stole a u.p.s. truck and kidnapped its driver. the u.p.s. driver, the two gunmen, bullet went through my cut daughters car seat, but she wasn't here. >> police say 18 officers fired shots on the highway that day. researchers say they've identified one lifestyle habit they say jose, that's why i think we could get a few near 68 degrees. i mean, it's already 60 degrees. for some it hadn't gone below 59 in san jose. the normal is 42. a weaker area of high pressure sending improvement in the east bay commute on 580. it 31:00. let's go back to the desk. >> trains could be more crowded this morning as about a dozen of the new will be running with one car today instead of two. we are live in san francisco. christina, good morning. >> reporter: good morning. there is an issue, apparently, that connects two of the new train cars together. so because of that issue, they are only affecting about 10 cars . so it is a small impact of service. they still wanted riders to know that they discovered this problem yesterday, from what we understand. they say that it only lasts about three months before they become unreliable. officials say if to train cars became separated, passengers would be safe. we spoke to riders this morning who say they haven't really noticed a difference in crowds. >> not more than usual. i take it every day. it's kind of hard to get a seat. if there are seats, i mean, there's people standing around you kind of in your face. >> it's not the first time there have been issues. earlier this year, they dealt with pins that failed twice and separated cars. they have resolved those issues. in terms of the issue now, they are working on getting a replacement. the impact to the service will only be today. they hope to get all of these issues resolved quickly. happening now, tiny homes being removed from a construction site to a permanent location. a crane and several equipment trucks are moving six homes along 580. the work started at 6:00 this morning. the homes were built by the company's home aide. the company is building the homes to help people transition into permanent housing. the homes will be installed on property owned by the first presbyterian church. new video to show of a department store robbery in the east bay city of richmond. it's video from earlier this week. when a security guard tried to stop the group, a man attacked guard. >> many of those who pled guilty already. a majority of them have been contained conditions by making drug cases a priority both on the local and federal levels. 8:35. 16 people confirmed dead in new zealand after the deadly volcano eruption on white island . two teenage brothers from chicago died from their injuries. their parents are among eight people listed as missing after monday's eruption on white island. tomorrow new zealand military specialists will land on the island back in the days, i guess a little while ago when we have rain, an hour to two hours, now it's only 48 minutes. this is a look at the bay bridge . i want to go back to the peninsula and the east shore -- or the east bay commute. if you are driving from the east bay to san jose, it is slow . all the freeways driving from san jose to the west valley are slow. 8:36. here's steve. >> we will get to it. here looks like a little break for some. not too much to the north. as for the lines lifting, so if any steady drizzle or light rain continues, that would be marin county northward. i do see some breaks toward the san jose area. just a really lot of this moisture coming up almost from the hawaiian islands. it's really close, which is why it's on the mild side. almost 24 others. you see kind of deflecting that band of moisture. a little northward today. a lot of the deeper moisture is lifting north. i do think that's where it will stay today to get a few breaks to the south, and if those breaks are there, already at 60 degrees in san jose and oakland. it wouldn't take much to get to 67 or 68. mid 50s and upper 50s for some. if you live around san jose, cupertino, i mean, you are itching to go. still some light drizzle to the north. that's where it will stay today. highs in the 60s. we will talk about what looks to be a cooler pattern in about seven minutes or so. 8:37 now. it analysts say an estimated 1.3 million bank workers in the u.s. could be affected by ai by by 2030. retailers looking to get shoppers off line and into the stores this holiday season are relying on santa. more malls than individual stores are offering photos with santa than extra incentives to get people in the door. one report says santa and other holiday attractions are the few remaining advantages that brick- and-mortar stores have over online shopping. the world's largest pizza chain was to make it easier to track pizza delivery. domino's has an online tracker where customers can see the stages of their order. now it has unveiled a nationwide gps delivery tracking system so pizza lovers can see exactly where their pizza is on the map . the michigan-based company says the map
