assuring some cooler air aloft. it did produce some high clouds but it looks like it washed out, mostly sunny today, hitting some patchy fog, then it'll get chewed up. the temperatures on the cool back to the desk. two workers and a gunman are dead after shooting at a car dealership in the south bay, the shooter opened fire on two of his managers at the ford dealership at morgan hill, then turned the gun on himself. we will start with what happened just before the shooting. >> reporter: good morning, employees say that the shooter worked here but had been fired earlier in the day, he then returned, went in this morning, a car was towed from the scene, i want to show you video of that vehicle being taken away, about an hour and a half ago, we don't know who's car that is, but investigator's were also on scene and recently wrapped up and left. investigators were seen inside of the dealership and police first received calls around 6:00 yesterday evening. when they arrived, the first found the suspect in the parking lot, of what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound. employees say the scene was chaotic, people were running and hiding, officers went inside, they found two victim suffering from gunshot wounds.>> they secured the scene, and they were directed by other employees, inside the building, where two additional people were located. and later pronounced dead. everybody in the shop was running, the detail department caught on very quickly and started running as well. >> er: employees say the victims were managers at the dealership, and the shooter had been let go, but they are not sure why. police have not released the names of any of the people involved, but they did say that the suspect did not live here in morgan hill. reporting in morgan hill, alyssa harrington, ktvu fox 2 news. we are learning more about a possible motive in san jose, for the murder suicide where five people were killed. a family member told the mercury news, the suspected gunman was angry that his wife was able to get visas for her family members in vietnam, but the relatives said, he couldn't sponsor his family records because he has a criminal record. he shot and killed four of his family members, then shot and killed himself. all of this was shocking and it makes no sense.>> he should have went to the authorities or whatever lawyer that he was working with to try to get something instead of taking it out on other people. that is not right, you don't hurt other people because you are not getting your way. i just feel like he should take that drama somewhere else. >> he had three felony convictions including armed robbery, he was not legally allowed to have a gun, the gun he used was reportedly stolen in tucson, arizona, but it is not clear where he got it. all five women who served on the san jose city council want to draw attention to domestic violence, they say the violence of women faced is "an extreme example of the violence many people in our community face." also, they say domestic violence and sexual assault are chronically underreported, especially among communities of immigrants, communities of color or asian and pacific islanders, they are encouraging anyone who is a victim of domestic violence or human trafficking, report it to the police or groups like the ywca or next-door solutions. tonight will be the first of two debates featuring democratic presidential candidates in miami. christina rendon is in the studio to give us a preview. >> reporter: good morning, it is going to be a big night down in miami, the democratic party has spread its 20 contenders among two knights, these are among the first 10 to take the stage tonight as they try to take on president donald trump in 2020. elizabeth warren is the only candidate in wednesday's group that is in the top tier of most polls, and some say she could warn to steal the spotlight tonight. she trails joe biden and bernie sanders, she is going to be joined by nine other candidates tonight including corey booker, eric garner -- beto o'rourke, and other people trying to make a name for themselves. >> people don't know me like they know other people in this to tell how it started. cal fire said that firefighters are making good progress, they just released new information, they say the fire is now 50% contained, and the road is closed, there are no reports of evacuations. it does not appear that any homes are threatened. for the first time, since the sacramento police officer was shot and killed in the line of duty last week, her father is speaking out and is defending the police department. >> we are here today due to the negative and misleading and hurtful information that has been spread about our sacramento police department and family. >> officer, tara o'sullivan was shot and killed june 19, while on a domestic violence call, police say she and three other officers were ambushed by the suspect and it took at least 45 minutes to reach her because the gunmen kept shooting. her father, denis o'sullivan says he does not blame the sacrament of police department for the death of his daughter.>> we also know that beyond certainty, what happened on june 19, falls squarely on one individual. the notion that anyone in the sacramento police department is responsible for this senseless murder of tara is extremely offensive and hurtful. >> 45-year-old, odell ramos has been charged with murder, the funeral is scheduled tomorrow at bayside church in roseville, a second service will be held at dusty church, both services are open to the public. oakland is one step closer to banning facial recognition technology. law enforcement says, facial recognition software can help catch criminals, but critics argue the technology does disproportionately impact people of color. last month, san francisco became the first city in the country to ban city agencies from using the technology. oakland city council votes on july 16. a group of angry san francisco residents plan to sue the city of san francisco over plans to build a navigation center for the homeless along the embarcadero. the people living near the area urge the board of supervisors to overturn the decision by the board commission, which gave the city a two-year lease on land across from pier 30 and 32. but the supervisors rejected that appeal. the city hopes to build and open a 200 bed center by the end of the year. neighbors fear, it'll attract crime and increased drug use on the streets. the only east bay location in a chain of popular pizza restaurant has closed, mary's pizza shack has been in walnut creek fo22 years, the restaurant said it lost its lease at the citrus grove shopping center, the 17 other locations include those in the rosa and san jose, they will be in the mid-70s, the city will be at a cool, nice 70 degrees. it is 70s, and 60s for others, but livermore is well below average, they should be 87. san jose and santa rosa also below, they should be 83, and not today. we had some higher clouds, it is getting chewed up, there is nothing to support it. 60s and 70s, look at the circulation around that, that get rain, butbe on the southern side of it, so we will get the cooler air aloft. we have a breezy and taking a tumble, they started ever so slowly but there was still some yesterday, not today. 50s and 60s on the temperatures, it'll be slow to warm up for some, but 55, it was down to 53 in sunnyvale, now 57. mid-50s for some, also 55 in blackhawk. 60 in reno, but it has been cooler up there. 58 ukiah, 57, and there is a gust up to 20 out near concord. up to 20 in fairfield. even livermore, so look for this cooler pattern to hang around for a couple of days, the low will be weakening and moving off, and as it does come the temperatures will slowly rise. the next couple of days will be on the cooler side, at least on thursday. a slight bump up on the weekend anything close to upper 80s or 90s, not for at home, san francisco police say they are working to make the streets safer into tenderloin, a five-day police operation just ended, and officer say they have seized a large amount of drugs, including methamphetamine, heroin, and fentanyl with a street value of $20,000. police also arrested 21 people and confiscated $5000 in cash. people are responding to a video that is being described as an act of cruelty, it shows a man on the roof of the building in san francisco's mission neighborhood dumping a bucket of water on a homeless woman on the street below. the man that took this video said it happened twice at noon on sunday, the video is getting a lot of reaction online and in the neighborhood.>> that is not the right way to treat a human being. >> i can't believe something would mendocino coast, it is moving closer to us, but we are under mostly sunny skies. temperatures will drop today and a combination of cooler air aloft, it'll increase onshore flow from a really strong low, we will send calistoga, fairfield, livermore, and gilroy into the 70s. mostly sunny, there will be some clouds near the coast, breezy and cooler, 60s and 70s on the temperatures. for this time of year, that is amazingly low, it is deep, which is strong, which doesn't have a lot to work with, it has enough of an influence to make it all the way down to southern california with the cooling trend. there were some high clouds that already dissipated, the fog is making a move. it was clear on the coast, but now the fog is starting to bunch up against the coast in the next couple hours. 50s and 60s on the temperatures, low to warm-up on the peninsula, some low 50s this morning, now it is mid- 50s, upper 50s for some, but still half moon bay, 53 and montero beach at 56 degrees. westerly component, onshore breeze and temperatures will settle in below average for many, that low is not going anywhere anytime soon so the calling continues, mostly sunny although by the coast, partly has cleared out, let's go back to the desk. a scathing new report is blasting the oakland unified school district, a civil grand jury accuses the district of mismanagement and failing its students. we are at the school district with the troubling findings in this report. >> reporter: good morning, the alameda county grand jury says that the oakland unified school district has a broken culture that leaves 36,000 students across 87 schools within the district underserved. there are a long list of problems that are cited within the grand jury report. from mismanagement and favoritism to disregard for authority and lack of accountability. another big issue, the district wasted millions of dollars on the report, and overspending on fremont high school which was millions of dollars over the budget. part of the problem is lack of continuity, the district has had nine superintendents since 2003. >> these kids deserve an education, there is money to do it, it is just not being used properly. >> reporter: in response to the report, oakland school board president in a statement said, " this report raises important questions. many of the issues are familiar but we will use this report to face these issues head-on and improve how we operate."port ve seriously and they will have a formal response within 90 ktvu >>you. now, there are plants in san francisco to cover up a controversial mural at george washington high school, yesterday, the meeting was packed, people on both sides of the issue discussed whether to keep the mural and cover it up because some call it racist. for month, the school board has been trying to find a solution and the public was allowed to speak out last night.>> people don't want to see potentially offensive images, they should just ignore history altogether. >> every day i had to walk into school and look at those murals, it was wrong, it was dehumanizing. >> the school board says, it'll cover up the mural with either paint or paneling, it'll cost about the same. the board members say a final decision will depend on how long each project would take. but, it'll be at least a year before the mural is covered and the environment impact report is needed first in the district has to find the money to pay for the work. the defamation league is taking new tactics in hopes of redirecting people who are looking to join or support hate groups online, if you use the redirect method, it is a program that steers people away from violent or extremist content on google and youtube. it also directs them to nonviolent alternatives, the redirect method is expected to run for about a year. today, a former uber driver do in alameda court, facing charges of kidnapping and sexual battery against female passengers, he is accused of picking up three different women on may 2, and investigators say in each case, he refused to take them where they wanted to go. two of the women escaped by jumping out of the moving car. he pleaded not guilty last month. a spokesperson for uber said he was removed from the app when the incident was reported. the owner of the hayward construction company has been sentenced to 8 years and seven months in prison, in connection with the towers project in san jose, torres hernandez was convicted of recruiting people in mexico of coming to this country illegally, he was convicted of paying them less than promised, and threatening to hurt their families or have them deported if they complained. in order to pay 13 workers nearly $920,000 he had owed them. walnut creek police released body camera video from a fatal shooting on june 2 of a mentally ill man, and the man's family said the shooting was not justified. the family of 23-year-old, miles hall said he was having a mental breakdown in the body camera videos show they first shot him with beanbags, then with bullets. he was handcuffed on the ground, and was still alive but later died in the hospital. >> at the time he was shot and killed, he was moving away from them, off to the side and i don't see the justification for the shooting. >> the family attorney says, he is moving ahead with a federal civil rights case, claiming the police officers used excessive force, also, harris is filing a wrongful death lawsuit. now to the ghost ship warehouse trial, the defendant, derick almena and his wife will return to the stand today. he is on trial for manslaughter in the deaths of the 36 people that died e. he is accused of building stairs that were unconventional but safe. she also said that oakland fire official, and other firefighters were in the warehouse in 2014, investigating the fire which he has denied. >> he said i wasn't in there, you know, the captain freeland said i wasn't in there, and they lied.>> indiana campground is closed after a girl scout was killed by a fallen tree. >> we had a tree fall on a group of girls, we are going to need at least two ambulances. >> the 11-year-old girl scout was hiking with the group on monday when the 40 foot tree suddenly came down and pinned two children and two adults, one of the girls suffered head and abdominal injuries and was taken to a hospital where reporting things will fluctuate ever so slowly, temperature by temperature, i get it. that is niagara falls, i know it from the stooges, inch by inch, niagara falls, that is very good. june 11, it was hot around here, concord, santa rosa and san francisco, 99 and 95. these are the forecast highs, and the city, 63. today, we will see temperatures in the 60s and 70s and that includes livermore at 76, and they should be closer to 87 degrees, santa rosa and san jose should be 83, that is below that dropped in, and to be honest, it is just a continuation of what we have seen all the way back, since what, january? they don't have a lot to work with, they don't have a lot of cold air and jetstream support. to see that this time of year is really impressive. it'll be cooler today, higher clouds have moved outcome you can see the low clouds are starting to back up against the coast. 50s and 60s and we will be slow to warm up, 49 in gilroy, 49 in boulder creek, 61 campbell, also san jose. pretty good onshore breeze, that'll be increasing later on. the delta breeze is in full force as well. that low will be slow to move out, i think this pattern goes into july as well. i don't see a breakdown of this pattern anytime soon. cooler wednesday and thursday, highs in the 60s and 70s, we will get a little bit of a bump up in those temperatures. the cooldown continues, mostly sunny except by the coast. the wind is up, pretty robust, it'll be blustery at times, so temperatures continue to be on the cooler side for a few days, they will stay on the cool side tomorrow or so as north american headquarters from orange county california to tennessee. mitsubishi is moving closer to its sister company, nissan, which will strengthen tennessee's growing reputation as a major card manufacturing state. the new headquarters will bring 200 new jobs to tennessee and millions of dollars in investments. analysts say auto companies like the southern states because they are more likely to oppose labor unions and they have fewer regulations than california. spicy chicken nuggets are returning to the wendy's menu, that is after pressure on social media. the idea got 2 million likes coast continues to back up against the coast, courtesy of that deep strong low for the end of june, that is really impressive . that is sending in that fog, beginning to make its move on parts of the coast and already come you can see some of that now beginning to back up against it, it is going to be a cool day for many, 50s and 60s for many, these temperatures even around the bay, upper 50s for some, alameda, 59, 56 in oakland hills. observations from the low 50s to the mid 60s. that is going to be a blustery, breezy day for many. cool 50s and 60s by the coast, 60s and 70s away from that low off of seattle, portland, it is not going anywhere soon, it is going to keep us on the cool side. all right, you can see, or i will show you, let me put up a map, i want to show you highway 84, we have one-way traffic control in the area, because of the crash on 84 near ruby hill, so if you are taking out of livermore, if you are taking 84, i wouldn't recommend it, i would stick with 580 and 680. just give yourself extra time and avoid the narrowing of the lanes as they clear up this crash. were also looking at 880, it is pretty slow from 238 all the way down to stephenson and fremont, dunbarton bridge is slow. it is better at oakland and at the bay bridge toll plaza, we are okay. if you are driving on 880, it is slow from san leandro to downtown, i do want to mention san francisco, northbound 280 and 101, it appears there is a motorcycle crash, he may be hurt but he has at least conscious and sitting up. the fire department is on the way. let's go back to the desk. two employees and a gunman or dead after a shooting at a car dealership in morgan hill, it happened at the ford dealership on condit road, witnesses say the shooter opened fire on two of his managers then turned the gun on himself. alyssa harrington is at the scene to tell us what police say sparked the shooting. >> reporter: good morning, employees say that the shooter worked here, he had been fired earlier in the day, he returned with a gun and opened fire in the service department, which is right behind me. this morning, we did see two workers just show up, they went onto the property and now they are inside, it is unclear if they are going to be open today. i got the chance to speak with a man who delivers bagels here every single day, he knows all of these people who work at the ford dealership him and he spoke briefly about how sad this makes him.>> i'm shocked, this doesn't happen a lot. >> we did see investigators inside of the dealership this morning, they left around 5 am, the car was also towed from the scene, police first received calls for shots fired yesterday evening around 6:00. when they arrived, they first found the suspect, he was in the parking lot with appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound. employees say the scene was chaotic, people were running and hiding, trying to get to safety. officers went inside, they found two more victims with gunshot wounds.>> they secured the scene, and they were directed by other employees, inside the building, where two additional males were located and later pronounced dead. everybody in the shop was running the detail department, they caught on quickly and started running as well. from my understanding, a lot of people ran. >> reporter: employees say the victims were managers of the dealership and the shooter had been fired earlier in the day, police have not released the names of any of the victims, i called the medical examiner's office, they said it is too preliminary in the investigation to release names at this point. one of the employees says at least one of the victims was a father and they are all just heartbroken this morning. ktvu fox 2 news. thank you, we are learning more about a possible motive fo lepeead. the family member told the mercury news, the suspected gunman was angry that his wife, who is from vietnam was able to get visas for her family members but her husband could not sponsor his family members because he has a criminal record. he shot and killed four of his family members and shot and killed himself. neighbors are shocked, and say it doesn't make sense. >> he should have went to the authorities or whatever lawyer that he's working with, instead of taking it out on other people, that is not right, it is common sense, you don't hurt other people because you're not getting your way. i just feel like he should bring that drama somewhere else. >> he had three felony convictions including armed robbery, he was not legally allowed to have a gun, the gun tucson, arizona but police aren't sure where he got it. all five women who served in the san jose city council want more attention on domestic violence and save violence to women faced is an extreme example of the violence many women in our community phase. also, they say domestic violence and sexual assault are chronically underreported, especially among communities of immigrants, communities of color, or among asian and pacific islanders, they are encouraging anyone who is a victim of domestic violence or human trafficking to report it to the police. tonight is the first of two debates mission in afghanistan confirmed it, but gave no other details. a spokesman for the taliban said the two american troops were killed in an ambush in eastern afghanistan, it comes days after the next round of talks is set between the u.s. and the taliban. robert mueller will testify on capitol hill next month. the leaders of the house judiciary and intelligence committee say he agreed to appear before a panel in an open session on july 17, democrats wanted to testify to clear up lingering questions about his investigation into russian interference in the 2016 presidential election. happening department. we are following a developing story, a fire has burned through more than 1000 acres along del puerto road. it is called the rock fire, it started last night, it is 15% contained. the road is closed, there are no reports of evacuations and it does not appear any homes are threatened. this morning, from florida, two more deputies have been fired for their response since that shooting rampage at marjory stoneman douglas high school in parkland, florida, the announcement today is the result of an internal affairs investigation. the sheriff says the deputies were fired for their inaction after the shooting that left 17 people dead last year. two other deputies were fired earlier this month for neglected duty. one of those was a school resource officer, scott peterson who was also arrested for child neglect, negligence, and perjury. for the first time since a sacramento police officer was killed in the line of duty last week, her father is speaking out and he is defending the police department.>> we are here today due to the negative, and misleading and hurtful information that has been spread about our sacramento police department and family. >> officer, tara o'sullivan was shot and killed on june 19, while on a domestic violence call. she and three other officers were ambushed by the suspect, it took at least 45 minutes for anybody to get to her, to reach her because the gunmen kept shooting. her father, denis o'sullivan says he does not blame the police to permit for the death of his daughter. oakland's public safety committee advanced the ban to the full council last night, law enforcement says, facial office catch criminals but there has certainly been an argument against it, the technology disproportionately impacts people of color, last month, uncle doug served bravely in the pacific, losing his eyes during battle, earning the purple heart. he never had children, and he died 12 years ago. >> it is just an honor to have this back in the fares will be the same as they are during the week. this morning, the house oversight committee voted to subpoena kellyanne conway for her testimony after she failed to appear at a hearing, the committee asked her to testify against accusations that she violated the hatch act. at the hearing, the special counsel, henry koerner said she violated the hatch act many times by making comments oakland school district is telling us, they will have a formal response to a blistering new report by the fall, a civil grand jury is criticizing oakland administrators for wasteful spending within the school district. sarah is at the district headquarters with the specific criticisms against the district. >> reporter: good morning, those criticisms range from favoritism to mismanagement, lack of accountability, disregard for authorities, that is a long list of issues that this grand jury has accused the school district of, the grand jury says, the school district leaves the 36,000 students across 87 schools underserved, the report also accuses the district of wasting millions of dollars on construction projects that went over budget. one example is construction on fremont high school, that was $51 million over budget. the report concluded, if ethical norms are ignored year after year, then a broken culture emergence, we spoke to the grand jury. >> it isn't like you can point to one thing and say, they did this wrong. it is pervasive. >> reporter: in response to that statement, the board says, this report raises important questions. many of the issues are familiar but we will use this report to face these issues. they will have a formal response within 90 days. in oakland, ktvu fox 2 news. there are plans to cover up a controversial mural in san francisco, at george washington high school, at yesterday's school board meeting, people on both sides of the issue talked about whether to keep the mural, which was created in 1936, and is considered by some to be historic, or cover it up because it may be racist. the school board has been trying for months to find a solution, the public was given a chance to speak out before last night's vote.>> people don't want to see potentially offensive images, they should just ignore history altogether. >> i had to walk into the entrance and look at those murals, it did not speak to me, it was wrong, it was dehumanizing. >> the school board said, they will cover it with either paint or paneling, it'll cost about the same. the final disposition decision depends on how long it'll take. the school district has to find the money for the project. the anti-defamation league is taking new tactics, it is using a redirect program which veers people away from extremist or violent content on google or youtube. it also directs them to nonviolent alternatives. the redirect method is expected to run for one year. the owner of a hayward construction company has been sentenced to 8 years and seven months in prison. torres hernandez was convicted in federal court of recruiting people in mexico to come to this country illegally and work for him, he is also accused of paying them less than promised. he has been ordered to pay 13 workers nearly $920,000 he owes them. police and walnut creek release body camera video of a fatal shooting of a mentally ill man. miles hall had a mental breakdown and threatened them with a metal pole. the body camera video shows the officers encounter with miles hall, they first shot him with beanbags, then with bullets. he was handcuffed on the ground, he was still alive but died later at a hospital. >> at the time he was shot and killed, he was moving away from them, off to the side, i don't see the justification for the shooting. >> the family's lawyer says he is moving ahead with a federal civil rights case, claiming the police used excessive force, also he is filing a wrongful death lawsuit. in the ghost ship warehouse trial in oakland, defendant, derick almena's wife will return to the stand today for more cross- examination by the district attorney. they hope she will give a softer image of derick almena, she testified that he knocked down a wall to allow access to a fire escape and he built stairs that were unconventional, but safe. she said fire officials and other firefighters were in the warehouse in 2014, investigating a fire that something he denied. >> the captain said i wasn't in there, and they lied. >> the wife said many of the changes made in the warehouse were done without proper permitting or inspection. we are in court every day this trial is in let's check the weather, steve is right over there with more on the forecast. >> thank you, we have a color pattern, a little bit of fog along the coast, but some of it on san mateo coast, and some of it to the north. it is the inland temperatures that will be cooler today, and as a result, the temperatures are below average, not so much san francisco, but livermore, 87 is where you should be. mostly sunny, we had a few high clouds, most of those have cleared out. 60s and 70s on your temperatures, that is pretty impressive for this time of year. to see a low that deep or strong for the end of june, it is going to linger into early july, it'll weaken, but the damage is done, so to speak. 60s on the temperatures for most already, a few upper 50s but a lot of 60s, low 60s for some and upper 60s for a few. el cerrito, 61, livermore, 61. that is not something you see all the time. westerly breeze, up to 20 out of the northwest at novato and the onshore breeze is there, much cooler air. you can see the fog making a move towards the coast, that low will continue to funnel in, very cool air for this time of year, some 60s and 70s on the temperatures today. it looks a little cooler tomorrow, i will have more on that in about 10 minutes. all right, steve, we do have some traffic that is moving along okay, if you are traveling along the bay bridge, there is a little bit of a backup, there have been no major issues as you are driving through, traffic is moving along okay, northbound 880 is also slow into downtown, so is 580. the commutes are beginning to get a little bit better. we had an accident southbound 280 near 380 and san bruno, that is gone. what has happened, they have cleared to the side rather quickly. northbound 280 and 85 are also, downtown san jose traffic looks okay. let's go back to the desk. there may be a link between commonly prescribed medication and the risk of memory loss, these medicines may increase the risk of dementia. up next, police find a baby who has been put in a plastic bag and abandoned in the woods, how they were able to find that baby and save him. we are now seeing body camera video that shows police discovering a newborn baby girl who was put inside a plastic bag and left in the woods. >> i'm so sorry. i'm so sorry. she is a sweetheart. >> this happened in georgia, deputies rescued the newborn on june 6, just after 10 pm on that day, a neighbor and children heard some crying come from of the woods. the sheriff's deputies said the body camera video showed him carrying the little girl. >> he is a great deputy, and probably a better man. so, you get to that point, i don't know how you prepare for that, psychologically, i think they are trying to trade for medical care, but what you saw was a daddy the coast. the fog bank is hit and miss, this is the low, look at that, bringing rain to the pacific northwest. it is a possibility you could get some thunderstorm activity later today. it is close enough and maybe near the sierra, but i think shasta is a more favorable location. some cooler air aloft, so if you are up in that direction, keep an eye on the sky. some patchy fog to the north, mendocino coast, and the san mateo coast. 60s on a lot of the temperatures, i know stanford, menlo park are all around 50, 51, now they are in the 60s. 62 in union city, foster city, san mateo, 53, still some 50s with that fog. the onshore wind is in place. we will see some of those low clouds coming into the coast, flirting with the coastal areas, that low will be slow to work its way out of here, which is going to keep temperatures on the cool side today and tomorrow, i think tomorrow will be the coolest day and we will start to see a gradual bump up in the temperatures. still staying a little bit below average, so 60s, 70s on a lot of these temperatures. even well to the north, you will see below number normal temperatures. the temperatures tomorrow will settle in, maybe into the
