jose. cupertino is beginning to slow down. also southbound 680 in walnut creek, brand-new crash southbound. traffic will start slowing down from highway 24. at the bay bridge, it is about a 15-minute wait before you make it on to the bring from oakland to san francisco. president trump just tweeted confirming that he is leaving for florida to meet with victims of the high school shooting. >> authorities have told us the names of the 17 victims that were killed and gave us more information about the 19-year- old charged in the shooting. nikolas cruz has reportedly confessed to the shooting. the sheriff says he took an uber ride to the school and was in the school building just seven minutes. after the shooting, he went to a wal-mart and then to a mcdonalds. i police officer spotted him after he was leaving the mcdonalds and arrested him. caroline shively is joining us live with more on how the community this morning is dealing with all of this now. >> reporter: good morning to you, dave and gasia. also an update coming from the hospital. two more released overnight. that leaves 17 shooting victims remain in the hospital. meanwhile investigators keeping up their work into the lone gunman. >> reporter: a massive candle light individual i will thursday night. students went as the names of their deceased friends were read allowed. many looked back, remembering the hostility and violent tendencies. >> i knew he wasn't okay when he punched the window and said i'm going to cause karma one day because he got in trouble with the teacher. >> reporter: 19-year-old nikolas cruz appeared in court thursday, almost exactly 24 hours after he is accused of opening fire on the teenagers he once called classmates. >> are you nikolas jacob cruz. >> yes, ma'am. >> okay, sir. you are charged with 17 students of premeditated murder. >> reporter: the student reportedly confessed to the massacre and is now on suicide watch according to his public defender e has struggled with mental illness his entire life. his brain is like a child but he understands the gravity of the situation. >> he is remorseful. he is fully aware of what is going on. and he's just a broken human being. >> reporter: last year the fbi was notified about a comment posted to youtube where someone named nikolas cruz wrote, quote, i'm going to be a professional school shooter. just over two hours from now, president trump will get a closed door briefing at the white house. later this afternoon, he is scheduled to travel to florida, first going to west palm beach. at some point we expect him to come to broward county. you mentioned the tweet where he called the people here some of the bravest on earth. people's whose lives have been shattered. >> is douglas high school still being processed as a crime scene? is there any talk about whether or not students will eventually return to that school? >> reporter: the latest briefing we got from the broward county sheriff was that school closed thursday and friday and then they will evaluate to try to decide when to open the school. at the last briefing yesterday morning, we were told that there were still bodies on the ground, laying on the floor. they're not rushing. they are taking their time. they don't want to make any mistakes. they haven't cleared the scene yet. but imagine the clean-up. there say lot of basic clean-up that needs to be done at the school. >> caroline shively in florida. thank you. we're learning so much more about the lives lost in that school shooting. they include two adults who died trying to protect their reporter: aaron feis was an assistant football coach and security guard at the school and died shielding students from the gunfire. 14-year-old cara loughran loved the beach. 14-year-old gina montalto was on the school's winter guard team. joaquin oliver was 17. he went by the name gauc and was a basketball player. alex schachter played the trombone in the marching band. chris hixon, the athletic director and wrestling coach had served in iraq. anthony rizzo who graduated from stoneman douglas made a tearful plea for something to change in the wake of the shooting. >> we get angry that there school shooting. at 7:30 we will have more on active shooting drills. santa rosa investigating after a car was stolen and that led to a fiery crash. ktvu's christien kafton, you're in santa rosa and have been there all morning with more on the people who chased down the suspected car thief. good morning. >> reporter: yeah. good morning, dave. we moved back to give you a perspective on this. it happened at north steel and north coast in santa rosa. it looks like a santa rosa crew arrived on scene to prepare the street light that was knocked down, possibly to clear the debris still here on the road. we are hearing from family members overnight that this all started as an auto theft and turned into a high speed pursuit through the streets of santa rosa leaving a man injured and a car in flames. here is what we know so far. sometime after midnight the victims heard a noise outside of their home on rhianna street in santa rosa. when they looked outside, they saw somebody breaking into and stealing their white dodge charger. the car took off and the two men from the home mopped into a vehicle and began tailing the car. the chase took them through the streets of santa rosa reportedly at high speeds. santa rosa police say at times the speeds reached 100 miles per hour. the car owner says they lost sight of the charger but then heard a loud crash. they found that the white dodge charger had crashed into six other vehicles, causing one to catch on fire. the driver was thrown from the car and was unresponsive at the scene and transported to an area hospital. at this point we don't have an update on the driver's condition. police say they have not been able to talk to them so they have not yet been able to identify him. coming back to the live picture you can see that santa rosa public works crew beginning the work of clearing some of the debris. keep in mind there were six vehicles that were struck in all by the dodge charger. this is just some of the debris that is left over from that crash. if we take a look over to the right, you can also see there is a power pole that was knocked down. this gives you a sense of how violent the collision was, just how high a rate of speed the car may have been going. we're hoping to get more details on this throughout the day. as we get more information, we will bring that information to you. >> all right. christien reportedly the couple is expecting a baby. 19-year-old daniel gross and his fiance melissa leonardo were back in court yesterday. they did not enter a plea to charges of murder for the stabbing death of their friend, 19-year-old lizette cuesta. leonardo's lawyers says he just met his clients and doesn't want to talk about the specifics of the case until he receives evidence from the district attorney. >> she is scared and frightened by all of this. this is a terrible situation for her. she is not someone who an ongoing -- she doesn't interact with the criminal justice system on a regular basis. this is new to her. >> he reports that daniel gross admitted to stabbing the victim more than two dozen times. gross says he acted in self defense. protesters have been taking to the streets of los angeles after dozens of ice raids have been reported in the area in the past week. already at least 100 people have been arrested. yesterday members of the group not one more deportation gathered to protest the federal raid and demand action to stop them. federal immigration agents have visited 122 southern california businesses so far. and they say they're forced to make more arrests because local police do not cooperate with them. the fate of thousands of young undocumented immigrants remains in question after the u.s. senate rejected four proposals to extend the daca program. one of the proposals backed by president trump was defeated by 21 votes. it would have funded the border wall, promised immigration for dreamers. a separate bipartisan member fell six shorts of passing. it would have also kept the visa lottery program in tact. the time is 7:15. some italian americans in san francisco are launching a campaign to reverse a decision by the board of supervisors to rename columbus day as indigenous peoples day. the name change was approved saying they wanted to honor the native-americans who's were already here when christopher columbus arrived. now there is a signature collecting campaign to put a measure on the november ballot to reclaim the former columbus day as italian american heritage day. they want a day to honor the contributions of italian americans. thousands of children across the country are getting free tickets to get one of the most anticipated movies of the year, black panther, which debuts in theaters today. >> i waited my entire life for more than during the 2007 housing crisis though when only 8% of people were able to afford a median priced home. smuckers is pulling back shipments of popular dog food. it tested positive for traces confessed to the shooting and is now on suicide watch. his lawyers say he clearly shows signs of some degree of autism and has suffered from mental health problems for a long time. >> he is sad. he is mournful. he is remorseful. he is fully aware of what is going on. and he's just a broken human being. >> now, cruz is being held without bail. the attorney general says prosecutors will be seeking the death penalty. it is 7:34. here at home, oakland unified school district will be holding active shooter training today, just two days after the florida high school shooting. >> ktvu's leigh martinez is live at coal elementary school. tell us more about the active shooter training that teachers and staff are getting today. >> reporter: the school district calls this critical training. they have had in training course on the books for months now. oakland unified schools receives training each year on what to do if there is an active shooter at the school. the next training is scheduled for today, just two days after 17 adults and students were killed at stoneman douglas high school in florida. it will teach staff how to deal with an active shooter on campus. the characteristics of active shooters, how they choose their targets and what to do when a shooting happens. chief gordon says educators need to make a decision to either run, hide or fight. >> once you hide, in essence, lock the door and hunker down, you're stuck there until law enforcement comes in. prior to columbine, what would happen is police would show up and form a plan what they're going to do and ultimately make entry into the school to take care of the threat. after columbine, we found out that was disastrous because as they formed a plan, kids were getting shot. if two officers show up at a school and there is an active shooter we don't have time nor will we stand around waiting for reinforcements. we have to go into the location. having your local police officers is helpful too because they know the schools and the classrooms. >> reporter: oakland has its own independent police department in the school district. the next closest is stockton. at police headquarters, officers also monitor security cameras posted at all campuses. now, roughly 20 to 30 different educators will be taking part in this training today. it will start at 9:00 this morning and go on until noon. area. >> i really struggle with that. i have a couple kids of my own. dealing with the emotions of it, i -- i obviously want the kids to be protected. but the idea of adding more -- you know, more weapons on top of weapons is not the right solution. we have to control what we have out there now. >> reporter: we know what happened after 9/11 with airport security. are we heading that way with schools, metal detectors or force to keep kids safe. what do you think? >> a lot of people agree with that plan. i'm not one of them. people would go with more security is better. no matter what. there is always a need for more. >> reporter: okay. i know in oakland they're doing drills today. have your kids gone through anything like that in the schools in the east bay. >> i'm not sure. not that they have told me be. >> reporter: and how have you reacted to this the last couple of days, especially with grammar school kids and a child in junior high? >> i have to say that i'm kind of numb to it. it happens so frequently these days that i -- i'm kind of numb to it. it is just another one unfortunately. >> reporter: and do you worry that something like that could happen at a school here in the bay area? >> i mean, we all worry about it. but i don't dwell on it. it is a -- the odds are so small with the number of people in our country. even though this happens from the news standpoint we hear about it frequently but it doesn't happen in your community very frequently. i worry about it a little bit but i don't dwell on it. >> reporter: is there anything that we can do on the local level to protect the kids at the schools? >> you had mentioned in our previous conversation that the idea of having everybody on campus being very focused on who is on campus. certainly anybody who is on campus that doesn't belong there being questioned by everybody around seems like a great way for the community to get involved without weapons being involved to protect their own environment. >> has the authority to deal with people who show warning signs. on capitol hill, democrats say it is time for congress to take action. >> people are going to be rightfully so concerned about their rights, as am i. what about the rights of these students? what about the rights of young kids that go to schools with book bags and pencils? don't they have the right to be protected. >> children are dying in our schools, in our communities, on our streets. all that congress has to say is, let's have a moment of silence. >> the atf says about a year ago, cruz, the alleged shooter in florida, legally bought the semi automatic rifle used in the shooting at a store not far from the high school. assembly man ting of san francisco says he will reintroduce legislation that would allow school officials and mental officials to file for gun restraining orders for someone in danger of harming themselves or someone else. current california law only allows family members or police to go to court to force a troubled person to give up their firearms. the governor vetoed it two years ago. but ting says the increase in shootings shows the need for legislation. the time is 7:41. the shooting is also raising questions about the role of social media companies in flagging violent content. about four months ago a video blogger in mississippi says he saw a comment on one of his youtube videos that said i'm going to be a professional school shooter. he flagged that comment and then notified both the fbi and youtube which removed the comment. now, after the shooting, the blogger says the fbi showed up to ask him questions about the comment but they couldn't confirm it was actually made by the suspected shooter. >> i actually didn't make the connection until i asked the fbi what could the shooting have to do with my youtube video? and he said it is the same name and we think it might be the same person. >> a san clara university law professor says one of the biggest challenges in this situation is being able to judge if flagged content is random or an early warning sign of something serious. we are continuing to follow more developments in florida. at 8:00, what we have learned bay who pulled a man out of a burning car on a busy freeway in crockett. it happened yesterday morning on eastbound interstate 80 near the sky way in crockett. look at the pictures. the driver lost control of the car, hit the center divide. the car rolled over and burst into flames. other drivers saw all of this, got out of their cars, pulled the driver out of the wreckage just before the chp got there to put out the fire. the driver, who has serious leg injuries, was rushed to the hospital but is expected to survive. some students and community members are at stanford university planning an event at the site of the 2015 brock turner assault. they want to honor the victims of sexual assault. they will read quotes from emily doe's letter. next friday's event comes after a school group started a petition asking stanford to publicly apologize for rejecting a plaque that was proposed at the site. can we talk about the flu? there is a new report out about the effectiveness of the flu vaccine this year. overall according to researchers, the vaccine is 36% effective. the centers for disease control says it offers limited protection against the many flu viruses spread around the country. the cdc is still saying get the vaccine because it can lessen the symptoms of the flu and reduce the duration. a hawaiian airline flight attendant is being praised for coming to the aid of a mother whose child was crying uncontrollably. this shows what happened during the flight to honolulu. the baby had been crying for half an hour. the mother was at the end of her rope, exhausted after doing everything that she could to sooth the little one. nothing was working for mom, so that is when flight attendant gina reyes stepped? >> i saw a place where i could help. i was rocking and singing to him. i was singing lullabies to him. >> i watched that mom literally lean back in her chair and breathe. >> her coworkers called her mama gina. she has four children herself. she was also a student said he ran into nikolas cruz while he was loading up his rifle in that school wednesday afternoon. he said get out of here. things are going to get messy. a massive candle light vigil in parkland thursday night. some students openly went as the names of their deceased friends were read allowed. others began looking back, remembering the gunman's hostility and violent tendencies. >> i knew he wasn't okay when he punched the window and said, i'm going to cause karma one day, because he got in trouble with the teacher. >> reporter: 19-year-old nikolas cruz appeared in court thursday, almost exactly 24 hours after he is accused of opening fire on the teenagers he once called classmates. >> are you nikolas jacob cruz? >> yes, ma'am. >> okay, sir. you are charged with 17 counts of premeditated murder. >> reporter: the 19-year-old reportedly confessed to the massacre and is now on suicide watch. cruz has struggled with mental illness his entire life. she says his brain is like a about a comment posted to youtube where somebody named nikolas cruz wrote, quote, i'm going to be a professional school shooter. and mike and gasia, you mentioned the tweet coming from the president on the winter guard team. joaquin oliver was 17 and went by the nickname guac and was a basketball player. alex played the trombone in the marching band. scott beigel died protecting his students. chicago cubs star 1st base man anthony rizzo who graduated from the school made a tearful plea for something to change in the wake of the shooting. >> we get angry that there is nothing that we can do message saying that the shooting left him heart broken and he is encouraging people to be vigilant and report troubling behavior to police. >> i would not want to live with the regret that will never afternoon high temps today and tomorrow won't be bad. we will show you those coming up. >> police in santa rosa are investigating what led up to a fiery crash involving a stolen vehicle. >> ktvu's christien kafton has more on the crash and the people who chased down the suspected car thief. >> reporter: this morning public works crews from the city of seat rosa are -- santa rosa are clearing the remains of the fiery scene in santa rosa. we're hearing from family members that this all started with a auto theft and turned into a high-speed pursuit through the streets of santa rosa, leaving one man injured and a car in flames. let's show you the aftermath of the crash. we know so far that sometime after midnight, that the victims heard a noise outside of their home. when they looked outside, they saw someone apparently breaking into and stealing their white dodge charger. the charger took off and two men from the home hopped into another vehicle and began tailing that car. a chase took them through the streets of santa rosa reportedly at a high rate of speed. santa rosa police say at times, the speeds reached 100 miles per hour. the car's owner lost site of the charger but then heard a loud crash. by the time they arrived, they found that the white dodge charger had crashed into six other vehicles and caused a car fire. >> i heard a huge smash. i instantly looked up and over here a car was in a fireball. it was instantaneous. there were some people trying to kick in the window but the fire was so strong they couldn't do anything. >> reporter: the car thief was thrown from the car or managed to crawl out after the crash and was unresponsive at the scene. we don't have an update on the driver's condition. he was taken to an area hospital. and police have not been able to talk to him and have not yet been able to identify him. one more look. you can see the remains of those six vehicles that were devastated by that crash. and we are hoping to learn more about this incident. and once we do, we will get the information to you. for now, from santa rosa, christien kafton, ktvu fox 2 news. the modesto couple charged with the stabbing death of a woman outside of livermore are expecting a baby. the couple were back in court yesterday and did not enter pleas for the charges of murder. leonardo's attorney said he just met his clients and does not want to address specifics of the case until he receives evidence from the district attorney. >> she is scared and frightened by all of this. this is a terrible situation for her. she is not someone who is ongoing -- she doesn't interact with criminal justice system on a regular basis. this is new to her. >> sources tell ktvu that daniel gross admitted to stabbing the victim more than two dozen times in the head, back, and neck. gross says he acted in self defense. sonoma county wants the united states supreme court to review an appellate court's decision on the fatal shooting of 13-year-old andy lopez by a sheriff's deputy. the 9th circuit court of appeals upheld the decision that rejected the assertion that the deputy was justified and acted in self defense. in october of 2013, lopez was carrying a bb pellet rifle that resembled an ak-74 in a vacant lot near santa rosa. the deputy thought the gun was real when lopez turned towards him. the fatal shooting led to a number of protests in the county. the family says the deputy did not identify himself and warn that he would shoot. county officials have until april 2nd to file papers with the supreme court. some students and community members at stanford want to honor emily doe and other victims of sexual assault. they will read quotes from her letter and talk about how stanford can uphold its commitment to fight against sexual violence. it comes after a school group started a petition asking stanford to apologize for rejecting jane doe chosen for a plaque at the site. it was a smooth ride in at least on the lower east shore. how are we looking, sal? >> you're right, mike. it is a smooth ride on the freeways. something to talk about on antioch city streets near putnam. there is a crash involving a pedestrian reportedly. i want to put it out where it is. i can zoom in a little bit. there is a crash involving a pedestrian. they reported someone was injured there. it appears from someone -- i called someone who lives near there and he told me that they're clearing up the scene. how far, there is slow traffic on lone tree way. a good area to stay away from because of a crash. right now as we move back thousands of undocumented immigrants remains in question this morning after the u.s. senate rejected four proposals to extend the daca program. one was defeated by 21 votes. it would have created a path to citizenship for dreamers, funded the border wall and tightened restrictions on illegal immigration. a separate bipartisan bill fell four votes short of passing. >> i think this is a decision the senate is going to regret and i hopewell be able to remedy the injustice soon. >> i just think we missed an opportunity for the american people and we missed an opportunity for the daca immigrants. >> president trump has ordered the daca program to end march 5th unless congress can pass a fix. two federal judges have blocked it from ending while court challenges are heard. italian americans in san francisco are launching a campaign to reverse a decision by the board of supervisors to rename columbus day indigenous peoples day. they say they want to honor the native-americans who were already here when christopher columbus arrived. now there is a signature collecting campaign to put a measure on the november ballot to reclaim the former columbus day as a italian american heritage day. they want a day to honor the contributions of italian americans. protests have been taking to the streets of los angeles after dozens of ice raids have been reported in the area in past week. at least 100 people we know have already been arrested. the group not one more deportation gathered to protest the federal raids and demand action to stop them. federal immigration agents have visited 122 southern california businesses so far and say they're forced to meaning more arrests because local police are not cooperating with them. the centers for disease control released new information on how effective the flu vaccine this year is. it shows the flu shot is about 36% effective overall. and 25% effective against h3n2 strain, the one causing most of the illnesses. the vaccine is about 51% effective in children. although three out of four children who have died were not vaccinated. doctors add that some protection is better than none. >> getting the flu shot is the after the shooter nikolas cruz made his first court appearance. he reportedly confessed to the shooting is now on suicide watch. he shows some signs of autism and has suffered from mental health problems for a long time. >> he is sad. he is mournful. he is remorseful. he is fully aware of what is going on. and he's just a broken human being. >> cruz is being held without bail. the attorney general says prosecutors will seek the death penalty. following the shooting, many people are calling for more gun control laws. in broward county, they want law enforcement to deal with people with warning signs. on capitol hill, it is time to take action. >> people will be concerned about their rights, as am i. what will the rights of the students and the young kids that go to schools with book bags and pencils in don't they have the right to be protected? >> children are dying in our schools and our communities, on our streets. all this congress has to say is let's have a moment of silence. >> the atf says about a year ago, cruz legally bought that assault rifle used in the shooting at a store right near the high school. assembly man phil ting of san francisco will reintroduce legislation that would allow coworkers and mental health officials to file for gun restraining orders against someone who may be at risk of harming themselves or someone else. current law only allows family members and police to go to court to force a troubled person to give up firearms. the governor vetoed the measure two years ago but the assembly man says the increase in shootings at workplaces and schools shows there is a need for the new legislation. the oakland unified school district will hold an active shooter training this morning. >> leigh martinez is live to talk about the training that teach everies and staff are getting today. >> reporter: that's right. oakland schools receive training every year on what to do if an active shooter were to come on campus. this training is just for teachers and staff. no students are participating. it was actually on the books scheduled months ago. it will begin at 9:00 and go on until noon today. now, the training will prepare school staff to deal with an active shooter on campus by raising awareness on everything from the characteristics of active shooters, how active shooters choose their targets and what to do when a shooting happens. the chief says that educators need to make a decision to either run, hide or fight. but he says while the training is helpful, disarming a civilian with an assault rifle is the only way to stop an attack. >> the reality is the school in florida had great training. the school in florida was in an affluent neighborhood. they talked about all of the training and policies and procedures they had in place and nothing is going to stop somebody with an assault rifle who is armed to kill human beings. we can't stop them. we didn't stop them in aurora or columbine or las vegas. you're not going to stop someone with an assault weapon that will come in and do damage. all of the metal detectors will stop them. >> reporter: oakland unified has its own independent police department. the situations such as what to do if they are at a mall or a movie theater. what is their plan? are they going to try to high and hunker down? are they going to run or try to engage the shooter, fight for their lives? these are the conversations that parents should be having with their children. this active shooter training will take place today. it starts at 9:00 and goes to noon. just for teachers >> english. what is your take on all of this. do we need more security at that school level? >> i think security will only do so much. it will help ameliorate. but anything short of gun legislation that curbs the availability of guns will not solve the issue. >> there has been some talk about actually arming teachers. >> yeah. i don't believe that is a good idea. >> uh-huh. >> all it takes is just one individual who might not have the right mental health capacity to create another travesty. yeah. i think arming -- having more availability of guns out there is not going to help the situation. >> i don't think it would be a good environment too to learn in. >> i think students would be a little more scared. we may have more leverage on the students. i'm just kidding. >> you grew up in taiwan. >> right. >> would something like this ever happen in taiwan. >> in a smaller scale. because there is a limited access to guns. you know, if you get mad at someone, the only thing available to you as a weapon is your kitchen knife. but if you have access to the gun like ak-15, the travesty is expanded much longer. i think limitation of access to guns is the answer. that's the cesars has adopted the new room check policies after a gunman killed 58 people from his hotel room in las vegas. it was later discovered that he had assembled a large number of guns and ammunition in the hotel room. the hotel says it is implementing the new policy at all of the properties worldwide. a police officer in southern california went to a high school to talk to students there following the florida school shooting and ended up really bonding with a group of children. ♪[music] >> this is what happened when the culver city police officer went to the high school along with fellow officers during lunch. they were there to reassure the students they are safe and protected. you can see here the students appreciatedet message and the officer's dance moves as well. the feeling of happy winner there. they are celebrating on the new york stock exchange with the opening bell. taking a look at the numbers. right back up. the dow is up 130 points. a half of a percent. 25,329. the nasdaq and s&p 500, half of a percent there as well. how much money do you need to make to buy a home in san francisco? according to the california association of realtors, more than $300,000 a year. the median price of a single- family home in san francisco is now $1.5 million. now, if you figure 20% down payment, your monthly payment would be about $7,500 a month. now, another study found that only 12% of households can actually afford that kind of payment. still more than during the 2007 housing crisis when only 8% of people were able to afford the median priced home. well, the smucker's company says it is voluntarily pulling shipments of popular dog food that tested positive for traces of a drug that is used to euthanize animals. here is a list of the products. the amount found in the food was not at lethal levels but any trace of that is not permitted in pet food. smuckers is looking into how the drug may have ended up in the dog food. it may be a company that is used to coast and around the bay. inland we had a few 20s and low 30s. but lots of sun. it will be a little warmer today. if somebody hits a 70, santa cruz, santa clara valley, tomorrow is a better opportunity and then a big change. we could use rain as sal's traffic jams have been focusing on today. 22 days in a row without any rain. last one on the 25th of january. it is a possibility that usher in the year of the dog. >> the chp says good samaritans pulled a man from the car yesterday. this is what happened there on the sky way in crockett. this happened after the driver lost control of the car that hit the center divide, rolled over and caught fire. drivers got out of their cars and pulled the man to safety. all before chp officers arrived to put out the fire which you see happening here. the 62-year-old driver was taken to the hospital. we're told that the driver has serious injuries to his legs but is expected to survive. a convenience store in union city is need of repair after a car drove right through the front doors. the honda crashed into a 7- eleven on miles road near almond boulevard. firefighters responded and posted the pictures on twitter. fire crews and union city police responded to the crash. luckily no one was heard. no word on how the driver ended up inside the store. to the south bay where a former san jose gym teacher has been arrested on charges of child molestation. he turned himself into police earlier this week. he caught pe classes at willow glenn middle school but placed on leave in september after parents saw him taking photos of female students. the computer was searched and they found several inappropriate images on him. he is charged with seven counts of child molestation. people in china celebrated with a big fireworks show. a billion and a half people are celebrating around the world. fireworks and fire crackers lit up the night sky in beijing. here at home in san francisco, chinatown has been busy all week as people prepare to welcome in the year of the dog. yesterday people did last- minute shopping. restaurant kitchens were busy preparing traditional dishes. one woman looks forward to eating a help a baby on board the plane. >> a hawaiian airlines flight attendant is being praised for going above and beyond. cell phone video shows what happened during a flight to honolulu. a flight attendant stepped in after the baby had been crying for about 30 minutes and the mother was exhausted doing all that she could do. the flight attendant soothed the baby using techniques that she remembered being a young mother. >> i was rocking and singing to him. >> i watched that mom just literally lean back in her chair and breathe. >> her coworkers called her mama gina. she has four children of her own and was also a surrogate mother. 17-year-old figure skater vincent rotated four times before landing on the opposite foot. he received his highest score of the season. he is in
