And we have added smoke at times coming from Southern California. Heres the red flag warning from Ventura County down into san diego. And as expected as the wind continued day after day after day. One fire that started in around the santa paula area, it has grown into several fires stretching down into san diego. And red flag warning is until 8 on sunday. Winds are not as bad as they were earlier in the week. But they are gusting out there. This morning, looking at winds anywhere from 20 to 30 miles per hour. But i am seeing in the hills down in Southern California, still gusting to 45 and even 50 miles an hour. The High Pressure is in control of our entire state. And the west. Continuing to push that storm track well to the north. You can see how the clouds just go in that direction. So, no rain for us. In fact, extended forecast shows we could be rain free all the way until about the 20th of the month. We will track that. And in the meanwhile, High Pressure and the circulation around that High Pressure is again transporting some of that smoke into our area. And to give you a better view, you can see the upper level winds that move clockwise around the High Pressure and take the smoke over Southern California. Teak it towards the pacific and wind it back around into the bay area. Thats why we have smelt the smoke day after day after day. Not all the time. But it comes in waves and we are likely to see it again and smell it again for today. Partly cloddy skies otherwise. A chilly start to the day. And light winds will remain in place. And for the afternoon, unseasonably warm. This morning, another chilly, chilly start. Especially for the valley locations. Inner east bay 35 in livermore. And fairfield, one of the colder spots, 29 for you there. And 31 in santa rosa. And San Francisco, 48 and one of the warmer spots this morning, right at the coast, halfmoon bay, 53 degrees. We have upper 30s to mid40s along the peninsula. 39 right now in san mateo. And for the inner east bay we have 35 in antioch and below freezing alamo and danville holding onto 31. Theres the afternoon highs. Low to mid to upper 60s in the forecast. 66 for novato. And 69 san jose. And 69 for gilroy. Going to tahoe, dry here as well. Low 50s in the afternoon. Dipping into the 20s in the overnight and thats allowing them to make the snow. Make the snow. Yes nothing in the way of a storm. Theres the extended forecast. Not much change and that about sums it up. Wow. Okay. Enjoy. But we need it eventually. Yes, we need some rain. Thanks rosemary. Sure. Ac transit is getting into the holiday spirit. We have another spare the air day. Spare the air and the possibility of some of that smoke drifting from Southern California into the bay area. For some you are thinking, how does that happen . I will explain a couple of things. High pressure is in control of our weather pattern. That ridge is pushing the stormtrac to the north. The clouds go that direction. No rain in sight. Not only for the weekend but beyond. High pressure bringing us in unseasonably mild day. Its also bringing us a little bit of smoke drift. That has to do with circulation around the High Pressure and the upper level wind. This graphic shows you how the wind circulates around the High Pressure and takes that smoke from Southern California and pushing it toward the pacific and back around into the bay area. That is why we have seen a little bit of the draft come our way and we are likely to get it for the weekend. Christien kafton joins us live in the newsroom with word from Union Leaders. Reporter good morning. We have been in contact with leaders of the seiu. The Union Representative text me and said our statement on the strike right now is that it continues today. After four days of striking, the workers may be entering into mediation as early as monday. Union leaders are insisting that no end date has been established for the strike. The Union Spokesperson is disputing reports earlier today by the Bay Area News Group that an end date had been set for the strike. He insists no union leader has said the strike is ending sunday. As recently as last night it appeared that city workers and the Mayors Office were at an impasse. This morning we received a statement from a seiu negotiator saying we reached out to city negotiators to select a mutual agreeable mediator despite the mans decision to prematurely declare impasse in negotiations. At this point we have reached out to multiple spokespersons for the city trying to get the citys take on any overnight developments but have not heard back. City workers are insisting make no mistake, the strike is on. We understand workers will be out picketing again today. We have a crew out right now trying to get a statement from the union so we can get a better sense on whether we will be seeing those picket lines again tomorrow and whether we will see those on monday. Also trying to get a better sense on whether or not they have locked down the mediator so that mediation talks can begin on monday. Still a lot of details to be worked out. We will continue to follow that and figure out any developments on this story from overnight and as the day progresses today. It is at this point looking like the strike is definitely on for a fifth day, today, here in oakland. But a changing situation, certainly. A dynamic situation. Thank you for the update.
