adree upjerry gonzalez -- adrian jerry gonzalez. our reporter was there live and has more information. >> reporter: the santa cruz county district attorney said the search ended in the worst possible way and now this 15- year-old could face life in prison for this crime. the d.a.'s office formally announced charges against jerry gonzalez. charges include murder, kidnapping and sexual assaultcations. they wouldn't go into specifics but we know they have evidence, including maddy's belongings, witness statements and the two were apparently acquaintances, police say gonzalez lured maddy into his apartment. it was there she was killed. her body carried to a reek cycling bin downstairs. i spoke to a neighbor and he was here when the d.a. read the charges. >> it hurts because like, you know, we love maddy so much and it's -- this is our community, you know, this is like we are -- we're like a family and this happened. it's -- i'm just like in shock right now. >> reporter: well, because he's bed tried -- being tried as an adult. we'll showing you pictures from his instagram account. gonzalez asked searchers for new developments when the search was going on. we're also told gonzalez was polite while spoken and someone who meantorred him never thought in a million years he would be accused of the crime. he's being held at the santa cruz county detention center and is expected to be arraigned tomorrow morning. >> the d.a. said he couldn't remember a case in his 20 years of trying a minor as an adult? >> reporter: yes. he said he has been a d.a. for 24 years and does not remember a 15-year-old, a teenager, being accused of murder let alone sexual assault charges and this involving an 8- year-old victim. >> very troubling. thank you. we'll see you coming up neighborhoods in the mid-90s. definitely on track to top 100 degrees for this afternoon. probably a little bit warmer than yesterday in a few spots. we have fog returning to the coast. the bay area microclimate is resurfacing. right now, you can see 93 -- 96 in livermore. lower 90s in walnut creek and concord and fairfield, right around the bay, 70s. but look at that san francisco temperature, only 68 degrees because look what has returned near the immediate coastline. very shallow marine layer. as a result, the fog having the impact near the immediate coastline. right around parts of the bay. there you go with some of the fog. as you can see, clear skies across the bay, the marine air having no impact on the inland temperatures for later on. the key headlines, cooler temperatures for the beaches very hot inland. there's the eventual temperature range, 100 to 105. but some changes for tomorrow. increasing high clouds, humid conditions there is a chance we could be talking about a few thunderstorms in the bay area. we'll have more on that in the forecast coming up in a few minutes. >> thank you. investigators are searching for the cause of an early- morning brush fire in la fayette. it started after 4:00 a.m. right's long deerhill road. drivers saw huge flames. it charred eight acres of dry brush and forced one family to investigate their home. jack paige was awake good for you. the contra costa county investigators gathered evidence on the side of the road. a cell tower was damaged. crews are battling nine active wildfires. today more than 130 homes remain under a mandatory evacuation order as a result of the rag fire. it's bumping up at the south end of lake berryessa. this is a live look from skyfox. there's good news. crews have stopped the fire from spreading. they have it 80% contained. so far more than 7,000 acres have burned. that's about the size of the entire city of burlington. to the sierra foothills where crews are battling the lowell investigators are still trying to determine what caused the first car to stall. another driver was also taken to the hospital for minor injuries. a hayward woman is behind bars accused of killing her own mother. police arrested the woman at the south hayward b.a.r.t. station. investigators say she was arguing with her 14-year-old daughter about something that happened at the home where the girl lived with her grandparents. when you as went to the home on mercury avenue, they found the body of 66-year-old linda. her exact cause of death is under investigation. beginning today, the community we had the other extreme coastside, the fog making a comeback. the beaches in the low 60s. inland, completely different story, away from the marine influence. here is the live camera toward concord. concord in the 90s on track to reach triple digits especially by the 4:00 hour. you can see how dry it is out there now. big temperature range, half moon bay right now, evidence of that fog, 61 degrees. livermore right now, the hot extreme in the 90s. 96 degrees at last check. a lot of temperatures in between, santa rosa in the upper 80s. san jose right now, 83. oakland, mid-70s and napa that's the airport in the upper 70s at 79. on the satellite you can see the perspective here with the fog. in fact, what happened overnight, we had more of what we call a southerly surge, the fog developing toward monterey bay approaching the golden gate bridge and sneaking locally into the bay as well. also watching moral activity to the south, in fact, some scattered showers showing up in southern california. tomorrow some of this moisture approaching the bay area. as a result, it will feel muggy out there and a few high clouds out there as well. high pressure has been in full command of our weather over the past few days but today, a few changes with that onshore breeze kicking up with the fog coastside. for thursday and friday, high clouds, it will be humid out there and there is a chance of a shower. this is on friday. that will be the highest chance with the possibility of an isolated thunderstorm. so once again, we have what we call this monsoonal moisture. basically the moisture moving in from the south. it will bring the humid, warm conditions and the chance of a popup shower. for today, at arrest for tonight, the fog will increase coast lied. notice the -- coast side. notice the high clouds for thursday afternoon and then into friday, throughout the day, could have a little bit of a popup shower activity. have to keep an eye on this. any lightning strikes that could boost the fire danger not only here in the bay area but a good portion of northern california as well. but of course, today the big headline, triple digit heat. vacaville, 105 degrees. a dig temperature range. only 66 degrees in stinson beach. a lot of triple digits for livermore, pleasanton, antioch, concord, 100. more neighborhoods in the south bay heating up in san jose, mid- 90s. you can see morgan hill and gilroy, around 100. san francisco that's downtown in the lower 70s but closer to ocean beach only in the lower 60s. you get the idea that seven- mile strek across the-- trek across the city. here is a look ahead at your five-day forecast. mid-90s inland. there is the chance for an isolated shower or thunderstorm for friday. into the weekend, a sun/cloud mix. i've been at the beach and you see people hoping to escape the heat and they show up and it's dense fog. it's so cold. that might be the case today. if you are gonna go out there, be warned the fog is out
