Its currently facing the nonpartisan legislative Analysts Office says that the state is currently facing a projected deficit about 73 billion dollars. Now, governor gavin newsom says he believes that amount is actually much lower. And in todays presentation, hes likely to announce where he thinks the deficit stands and the plans he has to close that gap. This could include cuts in different areas across the state, according to the associated press. This is actually the second year in a row that california has had this deficit and the state has avoided making major cuts in those things such as programs that are statewide and services. But it has made overall cuts and that was with onetime spending and delayed spending in other areas will also borrowing money from different counts. However, we spoke with lawmakers on both sides of the aisle about this issue. Take a listen. What they had to say. We know the revenues generally coming in lower than the forecast and thats concerning. And so we are prepared for some very difficult choices the bottom line is theyre going have to make cuts.
