Now outside this morning temperatures not quite as cold as yesterday was at least for most of us as suppose looking pretty clear we do have low lying cloud cover thats pushing right above the bay shouldnt be interrupting your commute your errands whatever you may be doing today a look at radar shows a very quiet picture across the bay right now, but if we zoom out across the region. You do see some shower activity to our north. Its actually remain pretty minimal so far this morning but watch out for some wet spots if youre heading north towards the oregon border. Thats about the only problem areas weve got in the state right now so your region is looking calm and especially the bay temperatures are in the 40s and 50s for most of the bay the south bay bayside cities the east bay cities all that way while napa nevado in santa rosa are the exceptions to those 40s and 50s because youre actually down in the 30s this morning a lot like yesterday so keep the jackets on hand if youre getting outside Early Morning if youre waiting till a little bit later today youll be back to the 60s to enjoy. Robin. They are predicted to use cars more than planes but you can see this is a life flight so we do have obviously a lot of activity going on the question as daryn mentioned will be how many of those folks are going to be traveling. Beyond their immediate household for thanksgiving holiday. We saw will tran was out of sfo last week right and it was basically a ghost town out front them but todays expected to be one of the busiest days at sfo right so lets move the prompter and well tell you where were going now were going go to sara stinson this time shes it file. Well see what shes got there so far have you seen anybody yet. See lots of cars driving towards departure area and this is going to be a busy day is expected to be a busy day despite that we know theres a second wave going on across our country and right here in the bay area people have still gone against what the cdc and local Health Officials have advised which is to not travel to see your family and friends and to stay put celebrating thanksgiving only with the people you live with so people are kind of thrown out the window and traveling anyways and thats not recommended you can see in the video people to get pretty prepared to fly with masks gloves Hand Sanitizer and other ppe but is that really enough when the airport gets packed you have to be the judge know a cellphone has done a lot to try and keep people safe. With markers telling people where and how to social distance plexiglas at the counters in Hand Sanitizer will say though people tend to throw social distancing out the window when they get to security thats what i have experienced personally while traveling during the pandemic that is not comfortable. Ive even had to say and can you give me some space people respecting and her aunt, public Health Officials have advised against Holiday Travel telling people stay home, however, that doesnt seem to stop people traveling to another area and seeing family members this thanksgiving puts everyone at high risk so many people are traveling, its got to the point where sfo has sold out of covid tests the ones where people get the day of travel. Theres an alternative though well tell you a drivethru testing site at united smeaton center. But they do not have rapid test those costs a 105 with results in 48 hours that doesnt really help you for trying to make it in time for thanksgiving. Once you get to your destination. It will be interesting to see if people you know quarantine stay at hotel or say jump right in and stay with family again not recommended you really want to protect your family members during this time where coronavirus is spreading rapidly can again second wave of the pandemic well be live here at sfo to show you exactly how people are behaving how they feel and how many people are traveling 24 hours before thanksgiving. I mean for the bay area is pretty typical stuff for us so were going to be looking at a nice holiday to get out there and yes, it is a bit windy. This morning. Thats because we are seeing a cold front passing through the bay right now. This is only going to drop temperatures from the mid to upper 60s where they were yesterday down to the low 60s for most areas today so your temperature drop is pretty minimal, but youll notice a breeze out there this morning. You look outside at berkeley right here shows you some low clouds fog has been at a minimum this morning, but there is some low cloud cover thats pushing on over the bay area a quiet picture on radar if you head to the north there are some light showers right up against the oregon border. Broken glass all up and down the street. So i know its happening in my cars and broken into several times this time a witness captured the suspects canvassing cars near lumberton hyde streets. Around 1 oclock tuesday afternoon. Once they see something they like the use a tool to break the window get in get out and then move on to the very next car in line really shocking to me i think especially if people trying to get out and you know the day for the walk said break up their day that somebody would see important witness tells me the victims who are visiting from china filed a police report. However, in most cases these thieves just dont care if anyone is watching just last month. A neighbor captured another daytime brazen break in on camera. He even hung to the suspects to stop that they were on phase. And in this break in earlier this year, the crooks made off with several suitcases within seconds signs posted near the tourist attraction continue to warn visitors about whats going on i do find a little bit offensive that the city span is park smart. Instead of doing something to attenuate the problem so far this year, San Francisco police recorded more than 22,000 cases of larceny theft which includes breaking into cars. Thats compared to the more than 33,000 last year however, neighbors worry the fest will continue to rise over the holidays make sure nothings visible take it out cover of the 22,000 deaths this year more than 7,000 happened in sfpd is Northern District which includes this area. Back 5. 45 tomorrow is thanksgiving a big part of the holiday is spent in the kitchen. So how can you cook more safely in the age of covid well weve got wealthy jenner speaking to the red cross about getting some tips on that. Thanksgiving is one of the biggest holidays of the year and the red cross says its one of the most dangerous days of year when it comes to fires for those working the kitchen. Safety is the most important thing things like never leaving the plains as the news unattended keeping flammable items like dish towels away from the stove pushing by handles in and off edges and other safety precautions. If you have kids or pets in your home you can really just want to keep them out of the kitchen, pet can get in between there lay kids can be grabbing touching really are at risk for injury and if something does catch fire. The red cross suggests having water or close by to put the fire out and most importantly making sure smoke alarms are functioning. Its as easy as sitting the test button on the alarm on average. Harm is detected in the fire is happening in your home. You have 2 minutes or less to safely and make sure the pandemic is top of mind while celebrating this is going to be a critical time for i know folks really want to be together moved to do our part to help reduce the spread make sure you have your face coverings and families are using them. Well cooking tips cooking tips and being safe and part of those tips of course is perhaps eating outdoors. As youre going to be doing tomorrow, well be even indoors. But thats because weve got start immediate family so we do too, but i get the 2 college kids do that just came home, even though were doing covid testing and all that as you know john youve done a million covid deaths the ship if you have to travel yeah before you have to get every way for 5 days, so yeah. Read for is the in guys at least weather cooperating with you know eating outside in the backyard because i know were trying to be as safe as possible this year. And hey that is a real option consider will be in the 60s under sunshine that is pretty good weather in november you look outside here at sausalito cam looking at San Francisco shows you a clear view across the golden gate. Theres definitely some low cloud cover that will be passing across the bay at times this morning, not interrupting your commute or your last minute errands that you may be doing before thanksgiving tomorrow a very quiet picture on radar this morning. This is the way were going to stay in the bay today. There will be some travel interruptions potentially to our north if you do happen to be doing. Some time on the roads today heading up towards oregon. Youll be running into some slick spots right along the north coast as well as up into the very southern cascades and northern sierra. We see minimal rainfall up there so far though it really is just skirting the Northern Tier of the state. What we are seeing though is this cold front thats passing through resulting in just the slightest of a drop in temperatures for the bay area today so today will be one of the cooler ones of our forecast were still going to be in the 60s. Its just the low 60s today showers do continue on and off right along the Northern Edge of the state on into the afternoon today, a few snow showers up in the sierra not amounting to much though these are very sparse and as i mentioned bay area stays dry today well remain dry tomorrow and into friday, too. The following weekend after the holiday also looking to remain dry. So really no major weather events ahead of us to be talking about as we make our threw away through what still is a pretty busy travel time of year, 50s and 60s for your highs at the coast today, pretty similar to yesterday at the coastline. Now elsewhere in the bay areas where youll notice daytime highs just a bit cooler than yesterday as opposed to inching closer to 70 degrees now are barely in the 60s. Santa clara milpitas in san jose, each right at 60 degrees today, same for you in fremont snow pleasanton and livermore while san Leandro Oaklands conquered walnut creek in richmond all right at 63 for your highs temperatures in the north bay, some of our warmest but only by a degree or 2 fairfield at 64 degrees and nevado in sandra fell at 6364 degrees as well. Lets get a look ahead through thanksgiving and eventually into the following weekend. This forecast not offering up or really any chances of rainfall us forest, sure wed like to maybe see that rain returning next week early on, but well stay dry at least all the way through tuesday.
