Diablo range scrolling up to mount diablo the oakland hills. All those areas that typically everybody is on alert whenever the winds pick up around mount tam for instance and of course up in the wine country. Both napa and sonoma counties look at all that purple all those areas either have power thats already been turned off or those are locations of peach and he has an eye on today to shut the power if the winds continue and were out there with our live reporters keep a look at whats going on in those neighborhoods in Contra Costa County with will tran in the north bay. With Sarah Stinson and in the Weather Center thats were going to start with you john yeah because because it has been a very windy evening and continues to be this morning to something that will be causing you problems as you leave for work this morning as you will be encountering areas. Where youll be able to feel those gusts as you do into roadways as for conditions right now from suture tower it is beautiful, it is clear one of the reasons for that is these are offshore dry winds that are pushing through the bay keeping marine layer offshore so its dry its windy and thats where fire danger comes into play calistoga fairfield and hayward among those areas with winds at 40 Miles Per Hour or more right now for your got us 30 to 20 Miles Per Hour elsewhere in the bay area widespread windy conditions from the coast all the way inland by 02 45pm on your map right now were still looking at some very breezy conditions, starting to noticeably come down late in the afternoon and post sunset tonight will be much calmer still breezy enough to fire danger remains high enough at least that red flag warnings do remain in effect through 05 00pm tomorrow we still have that dry humidity. The very strong winds and then of course is just dry brush dry grasses after such a long period no rainfall behind us this past summer season. 50s and 60s for your current temperatures, it is cool it is very windy, maybe not the best morning to be doing too much outside. I save that for later on towards the close of the day as winds calm down. We see some 70s ahead of us. Thats a look at your forecast Robin Winston has an updated look at traffic. Hows it going on the road indeed better than the last hour john were checking in on the bay bridge toll plaza a nice trip into San Francisco. We are delay free so no delays no problems from the bottom of the maze across the upper deck a very quick drive time of 10 minutes after fremont street but heading out of San Francisco crews are dealing with a fire on city streets and we dont have the exact address but it popped up on the chp logs right under the skyway so under 80 near the 5th street at sudden theres a plume of smoke thats a starting to fill in on the eastbound side so impacting traffic thats heading out of San Francisco to the lower deck of the bay to see that white plume of smoke so soon as i get more details on whats burning or whats blocked on city streets will pass it along but do expect to see crowding on the skyway near 5th in both directions because of a structure fire thats working on city streets will have more details coming up back to you thank you robin lets get back to the big story in our Team Coverage of the fire danger and the bay area this morning because of high winds you can see the winds. Blowing this fire, the blew up overnight in concord luckily, the Fire Department controlled yeah, this was at a u haul business and like mentioned they kept it from spreading to any of the other nearby buildings there. On monument boulevard but again just another example of the danger when the winds are this high. Any small fire that breaks could quickly explode in size if not controlled thats why pg e cut power to a lot of people the east bay conference will tran is live in orinda. With a look there good morning. Well. Morning darien no power no spark know wildfire. So you can argue with the results because were not hearing of any fires in the overnight hours but heard a lot of complaints about the inconvenience that you can see right behind me the trees are moving a little bit now its always coming in going, but the reason why they cut it because they dont want the lines to go down and spark a wildfire, nothing is turned on right now not the marquee nothing theres no coffee shops open. So theres a lot of frustrated people. But pg e says they have to do this because of things like this let me show you video out of concord winds simply too strong for some treason when the trees went down it took with it some power lines. Fortunately did not erupt into a big fire did cause a lot of damage to that home. But it was a preemptive measure because they dont want the lines to be energized hit the ground and then instantly sparked a fire. The winds that is the big concern, yes, they would like the humidity level higher they would like things to be a little wetter but the winds are the big concern for pg and e you can see the flags just whipping back and forth not just in congress been san leandro as well trees in that location, not immune to the when they also went down fell on top of a house, good part is were not hearing of any major injuries to anybody in the overnight hours and im sure there are things that flew into peoples eyes, but other than that no damage homes or buildings that we can hear of that significant. Take a look at your screen. The map its all about the map this morning, you guys talked about royalty unfortunately purple when it comes to pg and e signifies no power i renda and people did not have power and probably wont have power throughout the day because keep in mind even after the danger passes pg and e still needs to inspect the lines and they say there is a 12 hour window for that not to mention james darya they added more people to the potential of losing power what about a 100,000 more so my suggestion to you guys fill up your gas tank i spoke to a young lady this morning didnt even occur to me she was on e she was so fearful of running out of gas on the freeway that she pulled over. Looking for some gas for her the car but with no gas means i mean no power means the pumps dont work and therefore you dont have philip if you see a gas station that is open this morning. Back to you all right good advice easy to pin number can do thanks a lot. Well, and we also have to move new video to shot by our very own john trouble as he was on his way into work this morning look at that. That was a fire that broke out near the glen park, a bart station right off the 2 80 there in San Francisco. About 3 oclock or so in the morning you can see all the smoke in the street light and then eventually here you see the flames come into view just another example like we saw that u haul place in the east bay that caught fire last night. Heres another small fire that could quickly explode into somethi g much worse with these winds. The way they are firefighters have jumped on it look mom, no hands i want to add because john should be doing this and is free. I think. He definitely had his has his phone mounted. For sure both hands on the wheel absolute contributing to our Team Coverage josh able and of course we have Sarah Stinson as well out there live this morning monitoring. The Power Outages and the warnings that are in the north youve been moving around sarah in some spots the winds been howling where is it now and how are things. Ive been all over the place but valley in the wind has been howling above mill valley more towards mount tam up higher in the Higher Elevation areas down in the downtown area. It doesnt really feel too windy and so people are wondering, you know why is my power out, but i can confirm to been up there up in the mountains and the wildfire conditions are there. The threat is there and thats why pg e has shut off the power take a look at this video that i just shot earlier you can see how intense. The win was up there and you can see the trees swaying back and forth some real estate scion swing back and forth. Its been a quite an intense morning up towards mount tam i mean theres gusts. Close to 70 Miles Per Hour that is quite intense and then down below well see winds that are more like in the 20 to 30 mile per hour range. And thats why pg e has shut off the power to thousands of people across the bay area im actually at a Resource Center right now at Old Mill Elementary School. And you know people are working from home. Theyre doing Remote Learning and so you dont have power that can be very difficult. I just talked to a man who is a lawyer and hes here using the wi fi in the electricity, they have snacks and water and everything you could need here you just need to wear mask when you get in there and make of course are keeping their distance they have a lot of resources in here that says that youre working from home and you dont have power. This is where you want to be a marine county because if we can be very just talk to them and he said yeah last the nixon was funny emails that can really work, but he said they didnt get to that early so that was the perks. He did say that he didnt feel the wind at all at aria she said she didnt feel the wind. But at least i can confirm to you in the video there was a very strong wind event and that is the reason for this powpr shut off. We have that red flag warning in effect until 11 oclock this morning. For now reporting live in mill valley Sarah Stinson back to you all right, thank you very much sara. John. Well out there today is obviously quite windy. The start but as we work our way into the afternoon we do generally see some increasingly calm conditions by the finish of the day meaning you can get out there at least enjoy somewhat the 60s 70s that will have ive got details in your forecast ahead. Im tracking your morning commute around the bay area were checking in on the bridges they started off of lots of crowding out there but now were looking good a live look at the richmond sandra fell bridge, nice and smooth here 7 minutes right on time well check more bridges for you coming up. All right, we are back time now 09 13am well get a look at the weather which is our top story this morning with the wind and the fire good morning john good morning guys, yeah that fire danger definitely high. Despite the fact the temperatures are really all that hot. Its the strong winds and the dry nature of these winds that are pushing through the bay area looking outside of timber on theres definitely no noticeable fog outside across the bay area right now thats something that were going to see through the day today a bond in sunshine as these offshore winds continue to push any sort of marine layer well out of the region. Winds still pretty substantial, although we have seen them starting to temperature just a little bit through the course of the morning fairfield sonoma calistoga in hayward or 3 spots that are still seeing regular winds gusting as high as 40 Miles Per Hour. Mostly 20 to 30 mile per hour range now so we are starting to see things coming down just a little bit from where they were earlier tonight into the latter part of the day today 02 45pm right here were still looking at some breezy conditions just not quite as breezy as this morning and calming down to even more so as we work our way down into the finish of the day into the evening tonight and eventually into tomorrow red flag warning stay in effect through tomorrow at 05 00pm we are going to still be seeing some gusty conditions, some dry winds. Then of course we havent seen rain in a while so theres dry grass is dry brush that if there were to be a spark could result in a fast growing fire and all it takes is the steady winds that we have wind advisories set to expire at 11 00am this morning as we generally see wind speeds starting to calm down after that point for portions of lake northern napa and sonoma counties weve seen some really strong winds middletown just south of the city up in lake county you 89 per mile per hour wind gust during overnight hours some very breezy conditions to say the least temperatures later today will be in the 70s for most neighborhoods in San Francisco. Well 60s right along the coastline, most of the bay area today will enjoy an afternoon spent in the 70s. It will be a comfortably cool afternoon like i mentioned even though these are dry offshore winds. They are not coming along with that typical warm up that weve seen during offshore wind events in the past so this is one nice touch even though we are in the midst of some heightened fire danger you can still get out there know that theyre not theres not in the 80s 90s are certainly no triple digits, anywhere inside ahead of us, north bay daytime highs, mostly 70s for you back a villain i 75 today while looking at mid 70s and santa rosa upper 70s in sandra fell as well as petaluma today temperatures these next 7 days really not changing a time inland areas as you see on the map here staying in the upper 70s, lots of sunshine. Bayside areas, mostly in the mid 70s today and through the forecast while coastal spots in the 60s and 70s so not a lot of temperature variation were working their way into that time of year now where inland areas start to get a little closer in temperature to our base side in coastal spots meaning a comfortable forecast for all of us. Robin. All right, thank you john were checking in on the traffic starting off with a little problem that we have on city streets in San Francisco was impacting traffic on the skyway fire crews are responding to a structure fire on city streets in San Francisco near oak grove and brian so thats right under the skyway and there was this huge plume of smoke that was filling in on 80 east at 5th street. I i dont see the smoke anymore, but that fire is still working on city streets. So at least its no longer a visual distraction 4 people on the skyway but you want to avoid brian girl because traffic is backing up in both stay on top of that. But our bridges look fantastic. Were finally delay free and easy trip into San Francisco 9 right on time off to the fremont street exit, a beautiful shot of 1, 1, across the golden gate no problems for you between the north bay and San Francisco, so its still still at the limit no problems here off the span on south 1, one through the tolls and out toward 19 marina all is well back to you. Now top winners and losers on wall street with financial expert rob black joining us as always to break it all down hey rob. Yeah we the markets to talk about this morning. Dow struggling just a bit. In the early trading, weve got i dont know that a number of factors right youve got stimulus talks kind of stalling a bit to get the coronavirus on the on the resurgence well theres the election on tuesday. So that all spells uncertainty right. Yeah, i just put together a couple words ins took the words right out my mouth stimulus disappoint buyers resurgent election uncertainty that brings lot of question marks and without the inside wall streets kind of saying were going to a good quarter, were a little money on the side well wait see what happens. Again this will work itself out. But down 700 points on the dow it feels like a lot. Its just 2. 3 at this point in the day. Thank you turn around pretty quickly. What happened 5 days around out there corrections went up in 10 days in a row, the bear market. Nothing would surprise me in the year 2020. The way its playing out best youre definitely a little bit nervous that new stimulus got down now weve been like easy fix. We have bigger needs this week out of apple of amazon. Out of microsoft and alphabet googl so theres a lot on the table still happening. Mattel is saying the rv sales were up 29 kids are stand locked up in the house that point would all again as for us and were playing a lot of next or not believe theyre not quite as impressive as intel. And interesting to note. James were cooking more at home so the sales United States are an all time record high before land a little harder. Its funny how honestly never thought right right, it seems random things that bubble up to the surface when that when youre in an awkward situation like this. And just real quick before we move on to the next topic is there any are feeling from wall street either way in terms of a Trump Presidency or a biden presidency Going Forward anything better or worse for wall street or make sure is already talk like that. Yeah i can do something tomorrow on it especially by did because hes leading in the polls are not making a political comment. There. But hes talked about spending 2 trillion dollars sore. So that would be a big amount of money coming in that sector ok from 200 billion to to try and so. Atf people look at a school can be and if thats the way you think its going play out ok all right i was definitely dive into that then as we closer to the election. Item number 2 on the list today is a youve got a title facebook wants to slow the election day spread of viral. Content to explain. And kind of odd i have this is a head scratcher for me personally a facebook going stop taking political ads after november, 3rd, i think theyre gone forever is the assumption. But you know last quarter trump spent 65 million with facebook finds that 45 million. Theres a lot of concerns about misinformation states and cities are getting ready for civil unrest and rioting. Extremist groups 10 joe and this is just need very naive we analyzed the situation. Tense propagate on facebook and talk about what theyre going to do. If trump loses a trump wins. So the extremist groups are in question. Im hoping we have a nice smooth election. But something tells me facebooks can play a bigger role in this and its not just you know us fighting with her friends and family over who they voted for what posted it up. Little bit more that trying to slow the viral it obvious to slow down. Potential flareups of violence. Right and then lastly this morning ive been an evangelist for. Electric vehicles for years, ive saw that as the wave of the future but the tech was always kind of not quite there yet, looks like. The writings on the wall were
