tracking here and a fire weather watch as a matter of fact because of the heat and the winds that we're going to be seeing from monday evening into wednesday morning and then tuesday night is when we're expecting it to peak the most and we're going to when speeds of anywhere from 35 to maybe 45 miles per hour upwards of 50 at some bar higher libations this is all issued for the north bay mountains and our east bay hills and again this is going to go through the middle of the week and the low humidity as well that we're going to be seeing over the next couple of days and high pressure continuing to build that's overseeing all of this a hot weather hot temperatures that we're seeing a lot of triple digits around the bay area and we're going to see it all weekend long in fact it's going to get even hotter. as we get into tomorrow and monday. inland temperatures we could see anywhere from the mid 90's to a 115 degrees for some of our hottest spots around the bay area and then around the bay side communities, we're looking at anything from the mid 80's to mid 90's at the coast 70's to mid 80's that we can see temperatures climb to you. we are under an excessive heat warning that's on the future collaring behind me and then at the coast you can see just a small sliver under a heat advisory everywhere else under this excessive heat warnings to stay inside if you can we're going to see more record breaking temperatures as we get into tomorrow, here's the breakdown of what we saw today napa us it's got to a 102 degrees today that beat a 100 degrees back in 2008 gilroy one of 6 king city at one '05 again this list only going to continue to grow over the next couple of days. we'll have more details on a spare the air how the fires are affecting our air quality and of happening tuesday. the state is set to re evaluate which tier each county will be given. this is a current look at where each county here in the bay area now stands on that current tear system. tonight all bay area counties with the exception of 2 now showing widespread infection. san francisco and napa counties now showing substantial widespread infection as the county's move on that here's system more businesses are allowed to reopen. but the final decision on which businesses and in what capacity will now lie with county officials. >>a number of beaches in the bay area are closed for here all weekend long. cal fire says it is now upping its staffing during this critical fire weather. >>crews continue to make progress in the wildfires burning here in the bay area. the lnu lightning complex in the north bay is currently at 89% containment with more than 375,000 acres burned the scu complex fires burning in the east and south bay's or up to 88% containment with more than 396,000 acres burned and the czu lightning complex fires in san mateo and santa cruz counties are up 64% containment but more than 86,000 acres burned we talk to cal fire live on kron 4 news 8 o'clock tonight, they told us that it will probably take about 2 weeks. more to get the fire is fully contained. you can find all the latest information on our website kron 4 dot com. now fast moving wildfire has forced about 150 campers at the mammoth lakes recreation area to shelter in place tonight. the creek fire is burning in the sierra national forest east of fresno and it has exploded in size its parked overnight and the since grown to about 36,000 acres. the county sheriff says the fire has cut off. the only available escape route meaning about 150 people are trapped there are not able to evacuate right now at last check those trapped campers are getting instructions from helicopters be a pa system. and earlier tonight on kron 4 news neighbor we spoke with cal fire to learn more about this they told us why this fire. it's such a dire situation. >>i number of these lakes are places where people in central valley go on to get out of the heat to recreate so the number of people that were camping in the mammoth pools reservoir as un it just wasn't safe. but he had a number of vehicles on such narrow road to try to evacuate and so in in this case the sheriffs made the decision that was safer for them to shelter in place and assure storm continues on tour now evacuating those residents now the fire has burned through there. but it just from you know the footage seem to have this amount of smoke and for it to have gotten so large again is just telling of how dry conditions are and is really our concern going into the next several days because the same weather conditions are expected throughout much of northern california and even in the bay area. >>so daniel bland with cal fire there says it's still too early in the investigation to figure out how this fire started but also says that given the dry conditions across our state and does not take much for a huge fire to ignite. we've also learned tonight that the santa rosa fire department will be assisting in this firefight. >>we are also tracking a fast-moving brush fire in san bernardino county that has now forced mandatory evacuation orders there. the eldorado fire sparked at the eldorado ranch park in this delivery when you add a base. ends labor day. >>in the east bay triple digit temperatures tempted people to head to the parks to find some relief the hot weather inspiring families to spend some time outdoors kron four's each call reports now from lake chabot where it stayed busy all day long. >>a crowd was expected and the crowd showed up is great to be out here you feel safe in everyone's just like kind in own thing and doing so from a distance a day before the grass near the lake chabot regional park marina in castro valley was essentially bear and on saturday, a different story families huddled up keeping to this weekend. so we didn't want to stay inside you on hold when had the same idea she wanted to paint with our friend but not indoors where they have to keep face coverings on the whole time outdoors they only covered up when close to other people. it's nice hike everyone's kind of cooperating you know just we're all we all want to like the outside but then everyone's like a cable receptive like social distance and kind and i think a regional park district staff to for the holiday weekend to make sure the crowds kept safe. >>most common areas were closed off to discourage picnicking and barbecuing even the restrooms were shut down the rental building was allowed and so was fishing but donald bren has says the fish were not biting into their first look a little warmer now so well davor them like takers hit the trails early in the morning to avoid the hottest hours of the day billy wolfe and his partner walked 9 mile says pretty warm and we're looking forward to a swimming pool, maybe this afternoon sounds like a great idea in castro valley police should all run for >>so we've been talking about how hot things have been all day long how long will this last and how hot will things get tomorrow. meteorologist rebecca is here with a look at the forecast like a. >>yeah jonathan just seen it's going to even hotter tomorrow that's a we're tracking even more triple digits on the board as we right out this heat wave right now a live look outside it looks nice, it looks like he could be nice and cool and comfortable. the sorry state camera on top of our east bay hills overlooking berkeley right now mostly clear conditions we're going to see hot dry conditions around the bay area over the next few days and record temperatures. there were expecting as we get into tomorrow napa actually was one of our record breaking temperatures today at one '02 that was a hot spot, but it might get be tomorrow because we're expecting about one of 7 in napa and because of the heat wave we are under another spare the air alert for tomorrow and of with the wildfires burning throughout the bay area. definitely not helping matters were also under high fire danger as we get into monday through wednesday. a fire weather watch this offshore dry when that we're going to be. wind about the were possibly going to be seeing especially on tuesday night, i'll talk more about that a bit temperatures right now though out the we're seeing a lot of 80's on the board 81 us still in downtown san jose 83 in morgan hill right now 85 if you're in the livermore valley area 79 in downtown oakland, 77 right here and san francisco and definitely warmer temperatures in the north bay to 2 right now and to run of otto you're currently at 72. but yes, as the labor day weekend that continues, so we're going to be a under a high weather watch again a high temperature watch that's or seeing for much of the bay area heat advisory in effect for some of our coastal spots but inland. we could reach up to about a 115 degrees for our hottest spots around the bay anywhere from the mid 80's to mid 90's expected and up the coast. we're looking at the possibility of 70's to mid 80's, somewhere in that range, so definitely going to be a hot afternoon tomorrow because look at this we're seeing a lot more triple digits than even what we saw today. so one '04 if you're going to be the hayward area tomorrow fremont you're going to be at a high of one of 3, but look at livermore a 114 that's we're expecting and that area conquered you're going to be at a high of 112 and then of the south bay covered in those triple digits one of 3 and san jose expected one '07 in morgan hill. 80's up the coast possibly for happened and a high of 84 and 93 in san francisco. how long do we have to ride out this heat wave will have all those answers coming up a little bit later back to the news. thanks so much for all to the south bay now where an ambulance struck and killed a man earlier this morning in san jose. >>police say the ambulance was driving at a normal speed and without activated lights or sirens when it hit a man near mckee road near el rancho verde about joe biden it's about millions of people in this country. >>still ahead tonight why one of the democratic presidential candidate, joe biden's oldest critic says even she will be voting for him this november. >>and in el dorado county restaurant remained open for indoor dining for months to find state still to come tonight after the break the confront imagine... feeling fearless at the dentist. imagine strengthening enamel while preventing cavities 70%. act anticavity. stop imagining. start acting. >>a >>showdown recently caught on camera between restaurant owners and state inspectors in el dorado county. well as of monday the county will allow restaurants to open with indoor dining. but this cafe has already been doing that defying state orders so the question now is why is this business just now getting a visit from cal osha. >>melissa perlman is in place are filled with the answers. it's no secret that the appleby structure and possible has been defying state orders for months at one point posting signs outside the restaurant that customers don't need to wear masks to dying inside since then they've gotten in trouble with the county. but this is the first time cal osha has shown up to serve an inspection. >>you guys will have to kill us. >>the owners of apple be struggling toe to toe with inspectors from cal osha and highway patrol officers telling them to get off their property that's the state. >>the video taken by mandy rodriguez from the reopen eldorado county she's been a supporter of the restaurant stance on staying open him inside and i just started recording right away the video shows cal osha leaders telling the owners of the cafe they have a from a judge to do inspections chp tells us officers were there on safety stand by assisting the osha inspectors, but the owners did i both agencies entry people known for their cars to take their rights that's what it comes down to the restaurant was slapped with orders taking a wake county health permits ordered to comply with covid-19 restrictions or close and still they stayed open. but rodriguez says the restaurant hasn't seen state inspectors at the restaurant in 2 and a half years so we ask hello show why they visited the restaurant now they said the visit was part of a task force created by the governor to stop the spread of covid-19 at whole businesses who endanger public health and safety accountable. cal osha didn't respond when we asked why this was the first visit months into the pandemic the video shows both chp and cal osha leaving no inspection is done it's not clear if either agency will be back by officers have a great day, the owners of this restaurant didn't want to speak with us on camera about the confrontation, but mandy rodriguez says no matter what happens they have no plans to shut their doors even if el dorado county is put back on the watch list. >>here at 1030 protesters take to the streets on both coasts tonight. the demonstrators say they will not stop until their demands are met. >>and as we move further into the labor day weekend officials pleading with the public not to make >>more than 188,000 americans have died from covid-19 and now a key model often cited by top health officials is predicting that number will grow to more than 410,000 deaths in the u.s. by january that means another 224,000 americans could die in just the next 4 months. this projection comes as many americans now head to beaches lakes and even barbecues for the last long weekend of the summer and experts warn similar holidays earlier in the year show that they can be the perfect storms for spreading coronavirus. >>tom foreman has the story. >>brace yourself for more super spreader event that's the warning from health officials who fear with millions traveling over the labor day holiday the pandemic could spike just as we enter for when the flu and other illnesses may come into play we use labor day as a way to take the day off but unfortunately of the virus doesn't. we don't want to go into that with another surge that we have to turn around again. >>so it really is an important weekend. >>infection shot up in some places after memorial day and the 4th of july to despite warnings against big social gatherings. like that motorcycle rally in south dakota, which produced dozens of cases private parties in many places and numerous family events like the wedding reception earlier this year that left a new jersey woman and 3 of her children dead for all that president trump keeps mocking joe biden for wearing a mask did you ever see a man that likes a mask as much as still health experts say imagine an outdoor barbecue, the medical journal bmj created this chart showing if you attend an event like that for a short time with a mask, your risk could be relatively low depending on whether people are silent talking or shouting and singing. stay longer it gets worse take off your mask a while we're still and without a mask for a long time the risk explodes especially if the party moves indoors. >>so images like these are raising alarm bells hundreds of students at iowa state seemingly ignoring safety precautions. >>are you guys concerned about coronavirus all enough. i personally think it's a hoax really i don't think it's a hoax but i think that. >>and they think if i were to get it. i survived that is the attitude driving yet another warning this holiday from health experts watching college students on campuses everywhere. >>putting them on airplanes in fact you know and sending them home during their parents doesn't make sense. >>that was tom foreman reporting for us tonight, meanwhile, a new study suggesting that people recovering from covid-19 wait several months before exercising again. a study of 100 adults found nearly 80 had structural changes to their hearts. 6 in 10 were found have inflammation to the heart muscle which can be fatal and factoring in exercise which can add stress to the heart. now this many doctors concerned the study's author recommends anyone who has recovered from covid-19 symptoms to undergo a cardiac mri. so potential information can be found and it's advised to wait at least 6 months from symptoms recovery before getting back into a rigorous exercise routine. anderson meanwhile, the world health organization says at least 25 potential coronavirus vaccines. >>are currently undergoing human trials worldwide of those 5 are in phase 3. the most advanced stage of testing before a vaccine can reach the public. no serious side effects have been observed with the coronavirus vaccines up to this point in phase 3. one problem that has surfaced though companies haven't been able to recruit enough members of minority communities who have been hit especially hard by the virus. the white house has suggested the vaccine could be ready for the public in the next 2 months health experts say that's unlikely but not impossible. >>democratic vice presidential nominee kamala harris says she would not trust a covid-19 vaccine based on president trump's word alone. these comments came in part of a cnn interview that was just released today. senator harris is concerned that the trump administration is putting pressure on the fda to rush the vaccine process. do you trust that in the situation where we're in now that the public health experts and scientists will get the last word. >>on the efficacy of the vaccine if past is pro law that they will not they'll be muscled they'll be suppressed. they will be sidelined because he's looking at election coming up in less than 60 days. and he's grasping for whatever he can get to pretend that he's been a leader on this issue and is not so let's just say there's a vaccine that is approved and even distributed before the election. would you get. i think that's going to be an issue for all of i will say that i would not trust donald trump. and it would have to be a credible source of information that talks about the the efficacy and the and the reliability of whatever he's talking about i will not take his word for it he wants us to enjoy. health experts say it's credit call the fda does not rush the approval process. >>to the point that the american public loses its trust. instead researchers he'd approve any vaccine work safely and effectively so the actually get the shot. >>the cdc says the u.s. will have around 200 million doses of flu vaccine available this year. now health officials have to convince as many people as possible to get a flu shot is certainly safe. and it's pretty effective doctor georges benjamin is the executive director of the american public health association, he says usually only about 40 to 45% of americans get a flu shot and if we get that into the 70% range. >>that would do a whole lot just this week parents in massachusetts protested against mandatory flu shots for students. it's one example of the challenges health officials face this year. >>as they combat the flu and covid-19 so happy really 2 big epidemic ce. >>that have similar symptoms as well as way would tax the whole system would be a real problem and to avoid that worst case scenario. doctors are pleading with everyone who can to get a flu shot is a big national effort to educate people about getting the influenza shot. >>tv and internet ads like this are part of that education effort. the cdc also gave out a 140 million dollars to help states with their vaccine campaigns. and recommends everyone keep up with masks and washing and social distancing plus get your shot. the cdc also purchased almost 10 million doses of flu vaccine for uninsured adults and increase from the 500,000 doses it usually buys for that group reporting in
