28th. It is indeed i Robin Winston lets start with a check of your tuesday forecast and see how the weather shaping up outside your door day robin marty good morning and good morning everybody on this the shot coming in live shot from timber on it looks almost looks like says sun trying to come out here a little bit peering through that overcast fog that were dealing with in the morning hours. Oh, yes, the golden gate bridge. Here its hovering carls this this is resting spot here. This is the last place using the left but its been pretty good over the last couple of days to take care of that by 10 oclock or so. Temperatures thus far this is where well see the most quickest movement this morning, 63 antioch weve got the upper 50s you can see livermore and concord along the east bay shoreline hanging about 60 with 50s meanwhile, up to the north bay and 55 San Francisco, which mean tore a slightly ahead of the ball game as you can see up to the north a little cooler in the valleys inland, 75 by 11 at 2 oclock were talking 88 some inland locations theyre going to reach into the lower 90s were looking for slight cooling the next couple of days beyond but this weekend woman back up again going to look at your forecast coming up in a bit marty all right dave thanks a lot. Well today marks one year since the 19 yearold gunman opened fire at the gilroy garlic festival. Killing 3 people and injuring 19. Today the community will come together to remember and honor the lives lost lets check in with kron 4 Sarah Stinson who is live in gilroy with that story sarah. Today is significant its a day we remember what happened exactly one year ago at the gilroy garlic festival. An event people look forward to people have pride in here in the gilroy area and it turned into a tragic scene when a 19 yearold gunman just opened fire on the crowd and what im learning here boots on the ground here at the Christmas Hill park which is where that happened is that this isnt something people will think about once a year this is something people will think about every single day for the rest of their lives this memorial here at the park and people walk by it every day this is a great place to walk by. And remember the victims, the people who died that day one year ago. Again as that gunman assaulted i had an Assault Rifle and opened fire, but the 3 victims who were killed includes a 6 yearold boy as you recall. Theres 19 more victims who were wounded before Gilroy Police department officers, 3 of them sprinted towards the gunman and shot him several times before then the gunman shot himself now one year later the fbi is still investigating this a domestic terrorism investigation and its ongoing. Theres still no motive in that can be frustrating as youre trying to heal and trying to honestly move on with your life and try to heal from such a devastating day. I talked with one man his family has been the gilroy area since 1930 in he told he told me his thoughts one year later. The gilroy garlic festival shooting. You know what happened was really quiet. Its quite terrible. You know why that person you know chose to do what he did. Its kind of shocked the community because its a pretty close knit community. I just feel that. You know its something youll never forget every day go by that memorial i walked by. Across my heart. Because you know i wish these people that theyre in a better place nobody. You know, nobody really has an answer for why. And you can hear the frustration the sadness in his voice in on your screen right now is that. Video of prayer flags that are hung up along a palm tree. And that lies above the memorial thats been here for about a year now. To 93 Heroic Police officers from the Gilroy Police department will be honored these are the 3 that stopped the gunfire from continuing into the crowd and they will be honored tonight along with the victims and people who were there people who are wounded theyll talk tonight about their experience in effort to continue the healing process dont worry it is going to be stream so no matter where you are you can join in it starts at 5. 15 and we have a link to that on our website kron 4 dot com. Obviously the gilroy garlic festival here at Christmas Hill park is not happening this year due to the coronavirus but Officials Say look forward to it happening next year when the healing process is even further along for now, im 11 gilroy Sarah Stinson kron 4 news, you know sir in your interview with mister goldman he said its so frustrating did no one knows why. And that has to be so frustrating and cause so much anger in the community because. We may never get an answer as to why. And we heard that from Santa Clara County district attorneys said quite frankly i dont know if well ever get to why you did this point as mister goldman said he said its at this point why is not important it is what is important is coming together and he said that hes never seen the computer can fit community this strong not in years, yeah. Ok thank you for that live report from gilroy sarah will be there throughout the morning robin. Were continuing to track the coronavirus cases all around the bay area check out the numbers on your screen currently there are over 47,000 cases and over 745 deaths, were still seeing the most cases in Alameda County with over 10,000 infections. But the virus has been deadliest in Santa Clara County which has 100 and 84 deaths for a full breakdown of cases by county and city. You can always find this list on our website just head over to kron 4 dot com. Well to the north bay now coronavirus cases continue to climb at San Quentin State Prison 537 people at the prison how the virus and more than half of them or prison staff were told that staff are given in 95 masks as they enter the prison each day and are being tested every 14 days so far only 7, 8, have returned to work 78 we no longer have the luxury. Of confining thousands of people and quite tightly closed spaces. And thinking that it will only impact their Public Health and their public safety. This impacts us all i think one of the biggest and justice is done. Was to call the san quentin outbreak from the very beginning this has been a marine county outbreak. Well the states online tracker of the prison population shows 19 inmates have died from covid19 10 of them are on death row and more than 1500 have recovered. Happening today in the east bay, the Contra Costa County board of supervisors may approve an ordinance that would fine people for violating health orders. This includes wearing face coverings social distancing and large gatherings, the fine for individuals would range from 100 to 500 for noncommercial violations but commercial violations would range from 250 to 1000. Also happening today, the giants will be taking the field for their first home game of the 2020 season. But todays game comes as a big coronavirus cloud hangs over Major League Baseball and there are growing concerns about the safety of the players kron fours will tran live at oracle park to explain. Well. And the reason being because covid19 is so day today, the players marty they get tested every day so even though the game is scheduled for 00 45pm tonight. It is not a guarantee because they could get the call the ses stay at home. The game has been canceled and thats exactly what happened to 4 teams in Major League Baseball. The giants right now as we are speaking, they have home opener against the San Diego Padres as 6. 45 they come back to San Francisco to into after splitting the series with the la dodgers. So far so good for the giants, no player has tested positive for covid19 since the season began. But there is a Ripple Effect thats taking place because of the Miami Marlins on sunday get this. All 11 players and 2 coaches they tested positive for covid19 in philadelphia, they still played that game. Then theyre back in miami but Major League Baseball theyre not taking any chances so they canceled miamis season home opener and they canceled todays game as well and just to make sure that the Philadelphia Phillies and the yankees are safe because the yankees rolled into town in philadelphia. They dont want them being in that dugout the clubhouse of them are marlins were at so they are telling the yankees to stay in the hotel. So you get the feeling obviously it is so 10 us so scary. That now other major leaves are watching this like the nba and football and unlike nba marty as you know the nba, they have a bubble of the players are encouraged to stay in their hotels in the resort. Yes, sometimes they leave that at least theres the facade of a bubble. But in Major League Baseball there isnt after the game or practice they go home and who knows what they do after thats a Major League Baseball they will test before todays game but it is so tenuous at this point marty yes, they have a deep bench, but i dont think anybody anticipated 11 players and 2 coaches coming down with covid19 at one time the good news though if theres any Silver Lining in this. But the teams play within their time zones, so theyre not traveling across country in that particular case it was the east coast time zone and not the giants will not travel up and down the west coast and in case youre wondering just in marjah is taking the mound. Its almost as sadr emerges almost an afterthought when youre talking about the home opener just of marjah and by the way, no fans allowed inside oracle so kiss cam as ive always said marty will have to be at gonzales park. Well if it if we must you know well do whatever we can for the team, thank you you know one thing i have to mention to you. No big surprise here that the first team to be hit was miami. Being that miami and south florida are such hotspots for covid19. Absolutely and at this point theyre still investigating how these players came down and a lot of people theyre scratching their heads as well why the nba. Theyre having their season restart in florida, a covid19 it crosses boundaries, it doesnt know about states it just does what it does and thats why im sure the giants right now theyre fearful. And im sure theyre not going to leave their house until they get confirmation that the game is on and before you know its going to happen now maybe yeah exactly will thanks a lot for that live report from oracle park well be checking in with well throughout the morning, robin. Well now to the nfl Training Camp kicks off today as players enter champ, they will be tested for covid19 players will lead to negative test in the past 3 days in order to take the field in Training Camp and players will be tested every day during the first 2 weeks of camp. Now once a team establishes that it can maintain a positive rate of Positivity Rate of 5 or less testing will move to every other day and if players can opt out of playing the season and all pre season games have been canceled. Well coming up on the kron 4 morning news, a covid19 scares closing doors at a north bay fire station will find out how the Fire Department still protecting residents as more than a dozen firefighters are forced to quarantine. But if you look over to the right side of the freeway you can see this huge plume of smoke this fire is its a structure fire. Were up to 2 alarms right now and by the looks of the freeway in the location, this is possibly along 13th, somewhere between folsom and then asked this is developing right now. We dont have an exact location but we do have fire crews on the way were getting some tweets and some pictures from kron for viewers just heard from a guy on twitter who says he lives near 12th and south then as hes looking out his window and he says this fire is just a couple of blocks from his house or if youre traveling through San Francisco or on the central freeway. As you can see kind the overcast skies that are in place as we wait for the fog to mix out. Sfo no delays happening this morning but the typical fog clouds banked up against the hills in the background. Temperatures thus far cut 63 most readings in the 50s upper 50s at that with 50s up to the north bay here weise i suspect that well start to see some movement temperature wise there and the far east bay once this fog starts to lift out 61 meanwhile for san jose speaking of which were now in the mixing out process next couple of hours. Well see some quick results going on here along the coast very slow going and that will have also an effect on afternoon temperatures too future cast wind gusts are going to pick up later today carrying with it that marine layer, a bit of a cooling mechanism, although it may not feel like in some of those inland valley still managing into the lower 90s however, Central Valley still looking at 100 plus going on in some locations going on for today. So what we have today in the morning clouds and fog sunny for your afternoon, warm ok pretty close to seasonality then for the midweek theres ever so slight cooling were going to kind of chip away at some of those highs so instead of maybe at 94 today or something and maybe down to 92 or so for tomorrow and thursday and then a little bit of the heap bump as we return to some of those inland highs going up the middle 90s yet again, warming and mostly sunny, San Francisco, youre looking at 65 today, 72 for oakland, not a whole lot of bay area movement. 84 for most of Santa Clara Valley is going to be in the 80s, although places like morgan hill will manage up around a lower 90s again 84 for san jose east bay shoreline upper 70s probably getting into the 80s for this weekend 94 for 91 for concord in up here the north bay, a mixture of some 80s 70s now coming up in a bit. Well take a look at that 4 zone forecast for you and also that extended marty. All right, thanks a lot. Well theres a new relief plan for struggling americans and its facing some major hurdles republican lawmakers have unveiled their 1 trillion dollar Coronavirus Relief proposal on capitol hill they did yesterday. Theyre calling it the heals act. In that plan the gop wants another round of stimulus checks cuts to enhanced Unemployment Benefits by 400 and to allocate billions of dollars for testing and Top Federal Health agencies also 100 billion dollars towards reopening schools. Democrats are upset that enhanced weekly Unemployment Benefits would drop under this plan from 600 to 200 and theres no indication that the majority republicans will even support this plan. Half the republicans are going to vote no to any phase 4 package thats just a fact not only do we not know if the president supports any of these proposals. We dont even know if Senate Republicans fully support them. Democratic Senate Minority leader Chuck Schumer slammed the heels at proposal and the fact that it but republicans months to finish the plan benefits from the last bill are set to expire on friday. And for your money this morning. The fda warning about more Hand Sanitizers and housing experts as 30 million us renters are at risk of eviction jane king is live in new york with those stories and more j.
