And that includes placing black lives matter posters in every Police Station in the city kron fours reyna harvey live in San Francisco. She has all the details for us rain a good morning. Marty good morning that resolution was passed unanimously by the commission so that means soon youre going to see a black lives matter poster at every Police Station here in the city and again they have 30 days to put that in place the Police Commission says this is their first step in a larger conversation of continuing to support black lives here in the city now lets go ahead and break down this resolution for you. Now again looking at resolution that they passed this means that the department and they say has been on the front lines of playing a place many Critical Reforms related to Police Accountability by is free police scene along with Community Policing the departments much display a poster or side at least 32 by 24 inches that prominently and exclusively features the expression black lives matter. Now the poster or sign needs to also be placed in a location that is visible by the general public visiting that station at all times and thats i must not be obstructed and it has to be from a distance of about at least 5 feet now is that sign is damaged in any way. They are responsible in replacing this now get that resolution was passed overnight and again each Police Station out here in the sea has about 30 days to make sure those signs are put up for now reporting here and every just go to harvey kron 4 news all right reena things like that live report robin. Well to the east bay now the city of berkeley is the first city in the country to remove Police Officers from traffic duty. Now but the berkeley mayor jesse out again says that one goal of the plan is to curtail racial profiling. And this will not be free up money inner city budget 44 of our general fund funds are Police Department so its unsustainable longterm. But also this will enable Police Officers to focus on what theyre trained to do which is addressed serious and violent crimes. Well the berkeley Police Department responded to the mayors plan and a statement saying in part quote we look forward to engaging with our community and working together towards the best possible approaches to safety in our neighborhoods and across our city and quote. Now to the north bay this morning, the little city officials are launching an investigation after evidence was destroyed in the case of Sean Monterrosa the 22 yearold was shot and killed by vallejo officers last month. Authorities say monterroso was kneeling and had his hands raised at the time. The destroyed evidence is the windshield from the patrol car where the shots were fired at monterrosa the city says the windshield from the unit was replaced on the patrol car put back into Service Without permission. The city is talking with the fbi to possibly take over the criminal investigation. The Solano Countys District Attorney and California AttorneyGenerals Office recused themselves from that rolled lawyers for the monterrosa family say that this shows theres a lack of trust between the department and the community. Pits interfered with criminal prosecution its interfere with our federal civil rights case, its. Prejudiced our case in the ability to prosecute this officer and so not only is it appropriate to. This is a decision thats being made with the public Health Department and the office of education here in Marion County and theres continuing discussions to make sure that when they do go back to in person teaching its safe for everyone now teachers can meet with students and maybe some small groups before that date september 8th this approach is recommended to the public or to public and private schools of great love of all grade levels and is due to the rising coronavirus numbers in moran and in the bay area, including some young people as well, another goals or pairs students and staff to eventually be in schools full time, but with the health of everyone in mind officials are discussing precautions for when school does resume, and this includes distancing between the teachers and students that means facing all the deaths forward making sure that students dont have to face each other using outdoor areas for teaching is which possible Guiding Movement through hallways, no large gatherings use of playgrounds will be very limited meals will be served in classrooms or in saw or inside but no cafeterias or even outside. The district of ill the fall semester will begin with Distance Learning on august 17th. They hope that in person classes can be held later in the semester. The district also says its planning to distribute more technology to students who didnt get it last spring. And sandra fell city schools will also begin the year with Online Learning guidelines include starting the school year august 20th with Remote Learning at a phased in return to campus the district is also holding weekly meetings to sort out the details task force will present their recommendations to the board of education on july 28th.
