San francisco and san joke holding on to some upper 60s more on your forecast ahead robin alright, checking back in on the bay bridge toll plaza we have another wave of heavy traffic into San Francisco. This is what i was talking about like 20 minutes ago it was standing out and looking good which makes you think oh the commute so bourbon. Not so fast. We have traffic in ways and this is that second wave of heavy traffic coming in so still crawling backed up the on west grand and the drive time is back up to 60 minutes which is not terrible but its slow. Both intimate and 5. 80 are busy but id avoid the amendments because were at 40 minutes to downtown oakland youll save a little bit of time by taking 5. 80 instead its only a 35 minutes and then 2. 80 averaging 23 minutes from san jose to Cupertino James darya thank you very much rob and 9 oh one and the top story, the coronavirus it is spreading around the bay and around the country. Yeah and this morning we have Team Coverage of the big story. Lets start off with Sarah Stinson shes. Out there along with will tran they got the latest on local cases and whitney wild is in washington dc with the latest on the cases that were seeing pop up across the country over the weekend were going to check in with all of them throughout the broadcast but first. The headlines this morning 2 people and the us have now died there both in Washington State. A man in his who may have spread this to the nursing home where he lives so there very concerned right now now in the bay area thats washington stay here. There were 5 new cases just confirmed over the weekend to our hospital workers one from Alameda County the other solano county. They tested positive after coming into contact with a known patient. Right now theyre at home theyre played by north bay of aca Valley Hospital but they are staying home and isolation now that in Santa Clara County. We have 3 more people that have tested positive for the coronavirus and that brings. The total infections there to 7 in all their 16 patients across the state who are infected. We want to get our Team Coverage this morning with kron 4 Sarah Stinson shes live in Santa Clara County sarah. Whats the latest there. Yeah weve been waiting for some more information from Health Officials here at the Santa Clara County of Public Health department so far new no new updates, but as you said 7 patients with coronavirus and thats the most of any county in the bay area half almost half of what were seeing across our state take a look at your screen. We have a little bit of a breakdown for you can see can get a better understanding of these patients, one of the newest case includes a woman with Chronic Health conditions who is being hospitalized right now the investigation of her case really has just begun because theres still a lot more to learn about that and thats what were trying to learn a bit more they said theyre going to release a press release later this theres also the 2 other new cases involves a married couple who those 2 recently traveled to egypt. The man and woman are being hospitals right now and the husband has Chronic Health conditions as well the dew privacy laws, no morford information will be released about the 2 for now the county is working closely with the cdc to protect the public. Health Officials Say on their website an increase of cases is not expected. So thats some good news right now theyre working to identify anyone who has come into contact with these patients and they also listed on their web site a few tips for people. So you can keep yourself at home as you head to work for dropping the kids off a school a the 2 very best things that are recommended are for you to wash your hands more more frequently than you normally would and dont touch your face i keep saying that on air and then i find myself touching my face its such a habit for a lot of us but that is how we end up getting Something Like the flu or common cold and in this case the coronavirus so. Definitely do that and well keep you up to they said that later this morning they should have an update for us here at the Health Department for now live in san jose Sarah Stinson kron 4 news right, thanks sarah. Well now lets go back to those 2 hospital workers who were found infected over the weekend again that story mentioned both worked for vaca Valley Hospital one from Alameda County the other salon a county and again they tested positive after coming in contact with a patient who was known to have coronavirus nonetheless Alameda County Health Officials have declared a Public Health emergency. Cutting concerned that we want people to know and i think how they are taking the we are taking all measures you. Again the that anxiety is to begin planning. The 2 hospital workers are in isolation at home and anyone who came into close contact with them are also in selfisolation. Some various schools are trying to stop the spread before it starts taking precautionary measure. Yeah, cleaning thats the one thing theyre doing more and more than anything else or disinfecting classrooms all throughout the palin off the School District after 2 students. May have been exposed to the virus kron fours will tran is live in palo alto with the latest well. The kids are inside the classrooms in the classrooms are a lot cleaner today than they were on friday because over the weekend crews were sent and they were not told by the Santa Clara County Health Department to go ahead and do the deep cleaning instead this was a preemptive measure by the School District after finding out that 2 students one at Jl Stanford Middle School and the other at Palo Alto High School may have come into contact with coronavirus through their parents who may have come into contact with somebody with coronavirus and spread it to their families. In fact, the 2 students were told to leave school on friday. In the meantime many parents they dropped off their kids at school this morning very much worried about whats going on its face of thousands of kids in a small space a lot of them sick during this time of year. And its not just the parents. Also the teachers and counselors very much fearful. I think your cleanup crew did a great job when we got the word from a district that they were going to do a deep cleaning with our schools. They were on it right away. Scrubbing and are classrooms and high traffic areas so i i feel good about you know the efforts to district are taking to make sure students and staff are safe. And schools as clean as it can be. Many parents are dropping off their kids arms with hand sanitizers whites also with the instruction of making sure that they stay away from anybody sneezing and coughing as far as those 2 students are concerned. They are not back in the classrooms today and they will not be allowed to return to school until theyre checked out by Health Officials to make sure that theyre ok just to be Crystal Clear nobody has tested positive for coronavirus but lets face it and this time that we live in that are safe than sorry that all right, thank you will. As the virus spreads 1200 testing kits are on their way to california the cdc. Originally sent california 200 kids but weve already used almost all of them up. What i find that that she she director west south korea is just just 1000 people o j and theres no reason state shouldnt be able to produce a large number chess and get them distributed across the country. Its not clear when theyre actually going to arrive here in california. But there are some things without a test that you can still tell about you know whether or not just the flow or is it the new coronavirus coughing and shortness of breath are clues because those are signs of a lower respiratory illness. And the common flow. That is an upper respiratory illness. Our coverage continues online weve got a link with an interactive map. We also have a special report on how you can say safe and a timeline of all the events from the initial report of coronavirus all the way up to today. Its in our special section on kron 4 dot com. Which you use friendly reminder tomorrow is super tuesday and theyre so a lot of people that are undecided especially now that Pete Buttigieg stier dropped out this weekend. So we wanted to take a moment to let you know where each of the Democratic Candidates stand on the big issues and hopefully that will help you the more informed as you head into the polls and the voting boxes tomorrow. The latest poll numbers by the way out of california but senator Bernie Sanders in the lead by about 10 points ahead of joe biden cc there on the list bernies got 37. 8 of the vote here in california. Joe biden with 21 followed by senator Elizabeth Warren at 16 and Michael Bloomberg rounding out the top 4. At 10. 8 and because this is a primary a lot of candidates have similar issues on the various. Theyre similar stances on the various issues. Its just a matter of pointing out the differences that are really help you make your decision so this hour were going to look at their approach to fighting Climate Change for example all the candidates want to enact some version of the Green New Deal but about how they go about doing that is what sets them apart, so lets break it down were going to start with senator Bernie Sanders. His plan would be to transform our Energy System to 100 Renewable Energy and create 20 million jobs needed to solve the Climate Crisis while ensuring a just transition. He says for communities and workers, including fossil fuel workers who does want to leave anybody behind on that front. He also wants to commit to reducing emissions throughout the world including providing about billion in Green Climate funds. Read also rejoin the Paris Agreement and reasserting the United States is leadership in the global fight against Climate Change and then he wants to invest in a can see a conservation and public lands project to help heal our soils and our forests and prairie lands. He wants to end the greed. He says of the fossil fuel industry and hold them accountable. As for former Vice President joe biden lets run down his policies. He wants to ensure the us achieve 100 Clean Energy Economy and reach net 0 emissions. No later then the year 2050 he also wants to include using federal procurement system which spends about billion every year to drive towards that 100 clean energy and 0 emissions vehicle standards and he also has to protect biodiversity to by slowing down extinction rates and helping leverage Natural Climate Solutions by conserving 30 of americas lands and waters all of that by the year 2030 so those are the policies for the 2 leading candidates. But were not done of course coming up later this hour were going take a closer look at the plans from senator Elizabeth Warren and Michael Bloomberg so stay tuned for that and dont forget to. The following that throughout the day, especially on election tuesday. Still ahead on the kron 4 morning news, it was one of the most horrific crimes in San Francisco, a convicted murderer now up for parole in the victims family is pleading with you to help them. Keep them locked up well explain. And then we continue our coronavirus coverage as sanitary products are beginning to well disappear from store shelves more on vo in life, there are talkers and there are doers. Mike bloomberg has spent his life getting things done. Started a company from scratch, creating 20,000 good paying jobs. Thats getting it done. As mayor, he rebuilt a shaken city after 9 11, created over 450,000 jobs. Expanded healthcare to 700,000 and raised teacher pay. Elected for three terms because he got things done. Mike beat the nra, strengthening gun laws. He beat big coal, closing over 300 dirty coal fired plants. Mike is still getting things done. So ask yourself. For president , do you want a debater or a doer . Someone with workable, common sense plans to fix healthcare and create jobs, whos done both. Mike has the record and resources to beat trump. And it will take both. But mike will get it done. Bloomberg im Mike Bloomberg and i approve this message.
