eye on what we're expecting throughout the day today and we're going to get relief are the winds going to die down here pretty quick. i hoped. not necessarily just yet guys we're definitely still in the midst of this one even though we are going to have a bit of a breather this afternoon winds do pick back up again this evening and that is going to result in frost of we more losses of power for some of her residence overnight, especially for hilly spots in the eastern north bay. >>so yeah, we're still in the midst of a national weather service busy these past couple of days just extending these wind advisories one after the next hour. if you look here or stitcher tower cam looking down at san francisco. you can see it moving just a bet there are areas that have seen wind speeds coming down like the coast well other areas, most notably the north bay are still in the thick of some of the strong winds with sonoma right now winds at 22 miles per hour danville at around 19 miles per hour nap outlets peak also checking in we saw a record breaking wind gusts notably for the north bay yesterday and even though this afternoon things do calm down for a bayside in coastal areas. winds remain strong in the north bay well through the afternoon then pick up again all across the bay area into the evening tonight, winds in excess of 30 miles per hour for calistoga sonoma now speak on through the evening and it's going to be widespread have strong winds well through the evening on into tomorrow morning now as you drive to work tomorrow morning, it's going to be another morning, you're dodging branches on roadways a lot like you can expect today in fact so a couple warnings that are going to be impacted by the strong winds here even though winds have calmed down this morning for some areas you still do have bird a breeze possible and roadways. it won't be until tomorrow afternoon that we really ease off those winds all across the bay area and look at a pretty calm set up for the rest of your forecast cs this morning tonight and then tomorrow morning these are your 3 times you really got to watch out for as far as the strong winds are concerned now clear skies will remain through the day today, not a cloud out there no fog so that's not of concern for you today, 40's and 50's for most of your current temperatures, it's also pretty mild lot of times you'll see mild temperatures on monday mornings like this. our coolest of areas or santa rosa and lena barely falling into the upper 30's now by the afternoon out of us expect daytime highs in the 60's and 70's so it is a warm and windy one to be kicking off the workweek over to you robin, thank you john for check in on the bay bridge. the line is growing at the toll plaza getting a little crowded for the cash fares here so it's going to be a busy commute coming in, but still not bad, no crashes no hot spots and our wind advisories for a bay area bridges were canceled so we're off to a fantastic start at 11 minutes here from the bottom of the maze to fremont street. >>we're taking it to get traffic tracker in these numbers look good highway for west. the contra costa county wide open at 14 minutes here from one 60 out to 2.42 is doing fine on 6.80 south from highway 4 through one at creek the 24 split in out of danville then it's off to a great start at 19 minutes from to 38 to 37. we do have a wind advisory for the all to mont so if you're traveling on 5 80 this morning through the autumn on it's still windy out there so you want to reduce your speed, especially if you're on a motorcycle may be driving a van any sort of hype rollout profile vehicle or big rig, but all of the wind advisories for our bridges have been canceled if you're commuting from the south bay to the peninsula northbound one oh one looks good 26 minutes, san jose to menlo park james darya thanks a lot robin and now let's get to our team coverage of the strong wind that's impacting the bay area force will tran on the story for us this morning coming to us live from lafayette in the east bay good morning. well. >>the morning jeans and area i think the biggest problem right now. >>it's just extremely cold look at my breath. but as far as the windy conditions not as bad as we saw yesterday over my left shoulder i guess it start right now so the trees look like silhouettes, but you can probably make out it's not swaying back and forth what we saw 24 hours ago when it felt like we were all in a wind tunnel and the damage was done, i know it's going to pick up throughout the day. approximately in the east bay at certain times this morning you might even reach up to 55 miles per hour yesterday. it felt 55 miles per hour even more a lot of damage throughout the bay area on the east bay power lines went down trees. staff there was debris all over the place power outages you touched upon all of that pg and he had to scramble just to make sure that the power lines that did come down were quickly removed and made it safe for everybody, the oakland fire department there were also very busy as well making sure that people were safe. they are warning people because this is far from over if a line is down stay away from it. >>reminding people that if you come across a wire. that's down or wire with a tree in it please do not touch. it don't approach it trying to get a good location of where it is and call us and let us know a 911 we're 3, 1 one they can access and let us know about the hazard. >>and there is one thing that throughout my years of reporting, i've learned if you see i down line do not assume that the line is dead, even if it looks start in that area i could be a live wire do a u turn and get away from the scene we will continue to monitor the situation not so bad at this particular level mighty wind here at higher levels went up the hillsides but if you're crossing the bridge alias evans has a high-profile ban and she did a test they going across the bridge. definitely it'll be a little bit scary back to you. >>absolutely all right, thank you very much well. >>5 oh 7 and let's look at the north bay where the strong winds toppled trees came crashing down on cars and houses in sonoma. this is a big oak tree had fell over yeah, look crash, the bands like they were toys. this is yesterday morning so part of a riverside drive was blocked for hours. a look at this trees crashing that house right there. the guest room look inside and look up and you can see the kind of damage it did luckily, nobody was her there and that family is being held by the red cross. >>then see that the trees coming down and they scream in right away then. and i'm looking around join to pass star in and there's more worry for the neighboring cases straight to an end in no way could pick it up the lead that they get to hear about they before than able to go their house. >>pg e says that the peak gusts in the north bay reached up to 90 miles an hour. and breaking news from overnight at 5 oh 8, 2, people are in the hospital after a shooting in hayward it happened at 10 30 last night at the 100 block. amid for avenue right off of the nimitz freeway. those 2 people base in fairfield the cdc says 5 of those evacuees are showing symptoms of corona virus doctor hanley welcome with the cdc says his team is handling the situation aggressively. >>this is the first time in 50 years and we've used to court in order to restrict movement for someone for infectious disease, both protect themselves. we protect the people in the corn team because they can get medical care more quickly as well as protect the outside uh outside a problem. certainly it's concerning. >>we we see the sea are all are all in. >>eyes is all hands on deck approach to try to contain this. outbreak this is that spread throughout the on throughout the united states. >>a local hospital say that if the outbreak reaches the bay area in greater numbers. they are ready if someone's admitted to san francisco general hospital by the way with the corona virus precautions are in place right now to protect both patients and hospital staff. >>most important thing that we need to do to protect both patients and staff is told recognize when patients have one of these diseases, usually when i'm the sky types of infections are transmitted in healthcare. settings it's because for a period of time people just didn't realize that was what was going on. >>and so people weren't using the necessary precautions. >>there are 50 isolation rooms at the hospital those rooms do not allow air to tracking your commute around the bay area this morning very quiet into san francisco, but your line. >>it is growing in the growing up in la, bad air forced us indoors. and now we have to deal with this. climate change is an emergency. that's why i wrote the nation's most progressive climate law. and that's why i'm endorsing tom steyer. because when big oil tried to stop our clean air laws, he led us to victory. same with the keystone pipeline. when tom says we can save the world and do it together believe him. i'm tom steyer and i approve this message. uh, "fifteen minutes could save you 15%ain? or more on car insurance." i think we're gonna swap over to "over seventy-five years of savings and service." what, we're just gonna swap over? yep. pump the breaks on this, swap it over to that. pump the breaks, and, uh, swap over? that's right. instead of all this that i've already-? yeah. what are we gonna do with these? keep it at your desk, and save it for next time. geico. over 75 event the storm that we've been seeing here the last 24 hours. it cause problems for flights in fact, 350 flights in and out of sfo had to be delayed yesterday 26 had to be canceled out right and some flights had to be diverted to different airports because airport authorities said that that the winds were too strong it was a safe to land here in the bay area wow. >>dollar's dick's think god to shape key. you know direction for a logging. >>so as one of the passengers crazy ending to airport officials are reminding you of course check with your carrier for any weather-related delays even though may not be foggy today. ok so be windy of to cause probably it does hurt a fly to so but also because the jet stream did you hear about this. the fastest plane ever went from new york left wonder because of that is or 15, i should say 6 of the between a it's helping a flight on the east that's ahead when in the other direction. you know what guys on one of those their days showing us going to be great today. i know these the crazy turbulent. yeah, i was a problem with skiing to the lesson stop it always stops ripple effects continue and today, the wind continues as all it does, yeah so even though we're calm down for some spots right now doesn't mean it's going to be that way all day long we are still seeing persistent winds in the north bay and winds are going to pick up all across the bay area, especially tonight now looking across the bay there's no fog to her is no cloud cover. so what i would talk about that today because it's just not going to happen skies are going to remain nice and clear stormtracker 4 showing a very quiet picture now yesterday we did have some showers on the oscars due to this low pressure area that's not resulting in rainfall for us, but it sure is helping to stir up those winds trying in a very strong wind from the northeast into the bay area. >>we're going continue to see that especially for the north bay through your morning santa rosa nap and fairfield the winds well in excess of 20 miles per hour even though conditions will calm down at times by the bay you will have areas of wind still picking back up on into the middle of the day now we do see things backing up into the early afternoon you might think wow it's calm down really nicely now and then tonight happened sun winds are going to pick right back on up oakland, san francisco hayward north bay fairfield down the peninsula along the coastline, especially these areas can be problematic as we could see additional power outages. some downed trees debris zone roadways. i know you've been dodging branches all day yesterday that's something they are going to continue to do especially driving around tonight into tomorrow morning. this is tomorrow morning right here winds again issue for your morning commute likely to see even more of an issue tomorrow morning for your bridges than we are right now because this robbins been telling you it's actually come down for bridges and a lot of areas this morning. it won't be until tomorrow afternoon that we really see a calming forecast ahead of us so still this morning tonight, especially than tomorrow morning, we're still in the midst of some of these heaviest of winds and that's why the national weather service has been a busy issuing and extending these wind advisories now for many areas through tomorrow morning that includes the north bay mountains where there's a lot of trees lot of opportunity for some to breeze to fallen power lines resulting in outages and then our higher elevations in the east bay also exposed to winds that we'll be in excess of 50 miles per hour in some cases, today's daytime highs in the 60's and 70's with hayward oakland, san jose chad 68 north bay temperatures in the low 70's for a few spots so that's definitely above average are warm and windy weather continues on into tomorrow too. after calms down temperatures not quite as warm for the rest of the week. weekend robin alright, thank you john up to 92 looks like a great commute right now westbound a for the trip across the san mateo bridge. so no problems that you need to worry about. >>the early birds are out there, it's getting a little crowded here in the westbound direction making it to the peninsula, but once again trouble free no crashes or stall so 14 minutes for that drive time we're checking 18 to san francisco in your cash lanes are getting a little sluggish right stacking up to speed on the over crossing that is normal but we've had no big problems into san francisco. let's keep it that way at 11 minutes for the drive to fremont street drive times around the bay area, especially through the east bay and entering the maze they all look good we have 80 west. that's 15 minutes, 24 is wide open wannacry to the caldecott no problems for 5 80 or the nimitz from to 38 to downtown oakland will check more coming up deiah. >>thanks a lot rob and 5 19 and the east bay a hampshire primary tomorrow with john lawrence brings it up speed on all of it. >>former mayor pete buttigieg will claim 14 delegates in iowa. that's according to state democratic leaders after updated vote numbers and a review of precincts we did well in. >>counties that had voted for president obama and then voted for trump and really demonstrated i think how we can put that majority together to when senator bernie sanders is in second place with 12 delegates however it was a disgrace to the good people of all i would take their responsibilities. in the caucuses, very seriously they up badly the sanders team says iowa is still in play and they're set to fight the results after it's all said and done. >>it should be the case that we have the same number of national delegates as pete buttigieg buttigieg says he's moved past iowa and is focusing on future contests as for now senator elizabeth warren is set to get 8 delegates. this truly is about repairing our democracy. so we got 55 states and territories to go i'm in it for the long hasl six-to-eight for former vice president joe biden who despite his 4th place finish says he's also in for the long haul i really mean is i message. because, right now, america needs more than words. we need action. >>back at 5 30 in case you missed what the big stories this morning lease on the weather front. it's the wind on the left side we get a live view of the bay bridge approach are going to be feeling some of those winds, especially if you're crossing bridges like the bay bridge. on the right hand side pictures of them on in tower in san francisco, don't know if you heard, but there was a window that got blown out basically by the winds yesterday to a glass falling to the sidewalk below as well you see the police tape county road that are so kind of scary situations with power lines down trees down now we've got windows blown out and some of our tall buildings and it looks like it's not quite over yet john has a look yeah, i'm not over just yet guys even though we are seeing common conditions in some areas we're still going to be looking at an uptick in wind speeds especially tonight now this morning, some spots have calmed down or right alongside the bay you're definitely noticing winds letting up a bit while where the berkeley campus situated right here still a high wind advisory remains through much of the day today now looking at where winds are problematic right now a couple of spots along the coast. but what's really standing out to you i'm sure is the north bay where sonoma winds right now at 21 miles per hour. >>danville we've got a spot that's a very breezy right there. the most widespread and problematic of winds this morning though really are up in the north bay napa sonoma lpon over tomorrow afternoon. so that's what you have to look forward to by tomorrow afternoon. that's when we can breathe that sigh relief winds will be nice and calm after that point. it's clear skies today,
