Robin all right want to head to the north bay where the lights are out inside of the Robin Williams tunnel because of the pga knee. Power shut off. So weve heard from a lot of commuters at it is pretty dark inside. You want to keep that mind as youre traveling into and out of the tunnel reduce your speed the extra cautious and careful because it is hard to see once again the lights are out inside of the Robin Williams tunnel as you travel on highway one oh one so far that is the only tunnel thats from reported to be black or dark this morning. The caldecott is fine and the double slight tunnels find so far were checking the drive across the golden gate looking good at 19 minutes novato to the tolls but completely different at the bay bridge toll plaza we have a full house, minor accident westbound or Treasure Island here officially backed up into the maze so were looking at 13 minutes and growing to make it in james started. Thanks a npnow lets get back to the breaking news around robin was a reporters posted around the bay to keep you informed about where power is out and where its going to be out next and since its out right now in the north bay. Lets start there kron 4 Sarah Stinson live in sausalito with a look at conditions. Now sara. Yeah thats right. Theres over a 2400 pg e customers here in sausalito waking up with no power. It is very dark in sausalito not to mention when youre driving around. It is as dark as it is behind and me ive said you know usually its dark when i live in i cant really show think theres nothing the show everything is dark and its making for a very dangerous situation for drivers. Im at the intersection of bridgeway harbor drive. Stoplights are out but the trend the street lights are out and they actually at finally of a cop out here whos monitoring the situation. But take a look at this map so you can see adjust how many people are impacted as i said 2400 people. Just in sausalito without power than we have about 1200 in him or in city area and then in mill valley really just about over 800 people so a huge impact for people. Sarah fell area quite yet. But thats because this is just phase one of the power just due to pg es Public Safety power shutoff the number of people without power is only going to increase now face to is expected to start around noon today. So if you have power. It doesnt mean that you shouldnt prepare and get ready for your power to be shut off, especially if you live in the sausalito area it this body. Some places have power some people dont and that could get worse as time goes on and thats why were live out here for you. No i did did hear that pg e is saying even when they turn it back on you know as are saying they will on thursday, it could take up to 3 days to get actually up and running at certain businesses and homes take a listen. The first step that we take as part of restoration. After such an adverse event is to inspect every inch of our overhead electrical base to ensure theres no damage. There is damage. We identify the location of that damage. What that is bringing qualified personnel to be able to safety to the repairs and then continue with the restoration process. Very much understand. The inconvenience and difficulties such a power outage. What cause. And we do not take or make this decision lightly. I did just speak to a man who lives here in sausalito he says he did wake up without power. And it is a pain he said. He was prepared though yet flashlights ready, but that doesnt mean that its easy getting ready. But the flashlight trying to figure it all its very scary out there because of those traffic lights out people are speeding but he said hes taking slow him in the video we we have have shown you is that you can see people the stopping slowly looking both ways in the intersection where they drive. And theres other peoples who are just barreling through intersections you need to take its slow. And bridgeway which is where mollie stones is it is one of the only Grocery Stores in sausalito and they are open because they have power. They said that you know they woke up they guy here. Im grateful for that because they dont have a generator, but they have a generator on the way thats a one employee told me so they will be prepared if the power does in fact allow you can even see across the street. Next they have power as well so its very spotty and it can only get worse just because some people have power now doesnt mean its going to last for now live in sausalito Sarah Stinson kron 4. More news, yeah, thanks a lot of picking a voice she if you dont and if you dont have power have heart i might have the later your neighborhood for example is in a warning area. Lets what about all the schools. Yeah school has not been canceled, although u c berkeley and tire ah the old old school no classes we have a couple of schools in oakland to which yeah covered otherwise otherwise. Sarah wrong. Being a curse to send their kids to school to thats under district hopefully have gotten alerts make sure double check your email and the case your school has been closed in the last minute since late last night. We have more Team Coverage out there of course as we mentioned christine at Corpus Christi a teacher is also in the north bay for shes in napa right now with a look at how things are shaping up. Theyre good morning. Christina. Well good morning weve got a lot of traffic issues right here in the center of napa im here at highway 29 as well as highway to 21 the traffic lights here at this major intersection theyre all completely down meaning theres a lot of backed up traffic also a large amount of danger here in this area. Speed talked about 60 miles an hour here. Its a major thoroughfare for lot of people if youre kind of going northbound into the city of napa or youre taking highway to 21 into downtown napa meaning a lot of people are already in this arid area here right the top of 6 oclock we actually have california Highway Patrol officers, they are here in napa and theyre helping. You know control traffic right here at this major intersection but the entire city of napa as well as county is pretty much expected to be effected an impacted by this power outage. By pg e how ever what im being told by this the Highway Patrol officers who are out here directing traffic this morning is that actually. Is because of downed power lines and weve got actually caltrans electricians here on site were working to get this taken care of again this is what im hearing from california Highway Patrol officers i get to hear from. Possibly be an impact of the planned power outage ypg need. But right now what im hearing is that is a separate issue. I want to take you guys live here to show you some what age of this intersection to show you how crowded it is so just to give you kind of a wider view here and i know its a very dark. But this is the intersection again highway 29 as well as highway to hey we to 21 goes right here this is where people are going taking a right. Hand turn and if they are going that way thats leading to downtown napa and then where the cars are moving northbound and southbound that you can see those are people that are on a highway 29. Because this is such a busy intersection when i was driving up here around 4 oclock this morning. It was already a bit backed up. Now about 2 hours later, there is a ton of traffic i want to go ahead and show you some of that so what it can to left here youre going to see people that are driving north back and then people how found on 29 look at all of those light causing here for you. And this is something that has really built within the past our here. Now when i take the other way. This is now a look. And those are the people driving southbound on 29th all of those lights. Those people who are stopped those are people who are trying to go northbound into the city of napa there have been high hundreds of cars backed up all morning throughout the past few morning. As you can see theres a large large impact there. Now as they bring you back here to the intersection i want to show you a certain track. This is a. Caltrans struck this is the electrician who has been here all morning to find out exactly how this happened what happened and theyve been here trying to make some repairs. Again we are not 100 sure this is separate from the power outage. But we do know that caltrans is here on scene. Im hoping to get this 6 we dont know how long it is going to take but according to thl california Highway Patrol officers out here directing traffic theyre here for the long haul because this is such a major intersection and of course its still very early in the morning, so this is really not the worst. The traffic is going to be thats most likely going to happen in the next hour were so but because of these major backups and there are he theres already been a lot of honking out here and this is one thing that i do want to let everyone know when talking to officers they really said hey obviously is major thoroughfare. Everyone needs to go ahead and treat this as being a 4 waste and when they are driving. Imagine this being just a so normal fourway stop with normal stop signs top sides. We need to yield to the person on the right and those patrol officers i did speak with say even if its not just this intersection they are stuck it possibly year in another area in the bay area. Its been impacted by the power outage this could possibly happen to proceed with caution go slow and always you will to the person on the right. I now reporting live here in napa im Christina Tetreault crime. All right, thanks. A lot. Christine, a. Right, lets take a closer look at that map that we showed you when we visited both with sarah and christina in the north and this is the p g outage map. You may have difficulty accessing this map because its been on and off theres a crush of people trying to get to it so if you cant go to kron 4 dot com weve got links to it there weve also got images from it and other maps as well, but i want really exemplify the point that because your community is slated for power shut off or maybe the power is already shut off. It may not be across the entire town into exact as an example of that i want to zoom in a santa rosa. And as we zoom in youll see that yet there we are centering it up not all of santa rosas without power. If you take a look at the different areas in color, this orange area if you look at pg es legend, it represents areas where 500 to 5,000 customers are currently experiencing power loss, but these areas in hot pink our where p g has intentionally shot off all power to these communities and you can look and see areas on the east side of 1, 1, to santa rosa dealing with widespread power loss but areas on the west side. And thats kind of what were seeing so be really careful lawyer out there and again this is just phase one the north bay, the wider view the map shows that we dont have any Power Outages yet for the east pier, the south bay. But thats coming because thats all part of phase 2, and that should arrive sometime around noon today. And thats all part of our ongoing coverage throughout the day today. Daria yes, so lets continue that. Because about noon a 51,000 customers are expected to the added to the no power list kron fours will tran is in san ramon where a Public Resource Center is set to open today to help the community. If youre waking up in alameda and say Contra Costa County you still have power for now, but the clock is ticking on us pga expects to wipe out power to thousands of customers starting at noon and no word on when they will possibly restore power reason being they will look at the lines come thursday inspected to see if all lines are okay they are damaged still have to make repairs which is why theyre saying this is a flexible situation a very fluid situation and they want people to watch the news and look at their website. In the meantime there are many places available to you if you live in san ramon, heres 2600 camino ramon, this is in the bishop ranch parking lot. If you need to co here for power it should be available to you they have a support staff and they have services for you to get through this time when the power is out. Back to you. Much will now lets head to the south bay again our Team Coverage continues with kron fours the only a 7 yes, weve got more from that area she is outside of San Jose City hall. Theyre going to have a press conference at 7 oclock this morning. We only what we hope to learn. Well daria were hoping that well get a little bit more information from from the city what their plan is to keep things safe while powers out as well as what other resources that people can go to in case the power went out in their area you know because theres plenty of elderly people who depend on you know he the like an oxygen mask or something medical that requires that city well were hoping to find out the spots they can go to in and plug in and make sure that theyre safe and ok so thats whats expected around 07 00am so to now on our yeah hour from now and well carry that live to you in the meantime let me show you a map of some of the areas in san jose and the Santa Clara County area that will be affected today at noon. Having some of that power you can see that the map is pretty big. Around there and specifically talking about san jose. Some of the areas that that are going to get hit first, is probably East San Jose over there by the foot hills were the but hills area and also over and our in alum rock area excuse me and also over there in south san jose pg need is saying they are saying that this is the safest maneuver that they can do is buy. Shutting down the power. I hoping prevent any kind of fires because the conditions are just for because weve been mentioning dry the humidity is low and the winds are going to be high so all of that are perfect perfect recipe for a fire to break out so the genie there pat as well as cal fire theyre also doing a lot of work behind the scenes and preparing themselves. To you know doing things so they can prevent from any fires breaking out as well to try to pounce on them as quickly as possible. This is some of the other things that theyre doing must take a listen. Over bulldozers and hand crews, 24 7. Our reserve engines are all being staff those injuries that we use when break or go out of service were really moving some resources around right management reading is moving. Strike teams of engines and crews and bulldozers around the state to the win prone areas that are a little more susceptible. So you can see everyones trying to do prevention as much as possible and this is pretty drastic and this is going to be really hitting a lot of people hard we know that so definitely were really waiting to hear whats going to happen and this mayors conference and it will give it to you live as it as it happens. And then well get a little bit more information on what people can do in the in the city and in the county of santa clara. In case their power goes out back to you guys. Thanks a lot you only. Well in the east bay we have caltrans saying the called tunnel thankfully is going to stay open for commuters this morning, there was a worry. Late yesterday that maybe they to shut down the whole tunnel because the fans
