Just how much cooler it is about to be were off to a start to the morning which has been pretty similar to where weve been so far this week which is 50s and 60s so youre not noticing a difference in temperatures just yet out there were still on the comfortably cool side of things youll still want a light jacket. Now this afternoon as youre getting outside youre not going to worry so much about 80s or even 90s as you will look at those daytime highs only in the 70s some really nice weather maybe even some long sleeve weathers we do have some breezy conditions that will be sticking around especially out in the delta on into the afternoon so much cooler day today. But how long will the cooldown last 4 ive got your forecast to come. Robin. All right, thank you we want to check in on the very busy commute into San Francisco traffic, philly and quickly, especially if you have to pay castles cash lanes are already crowded sacking up to the end of a lot of stretching out to lhe 80 over crossing but you dont have to deal with that if your car pooler or even a fast track or those lanes are moving much much better 11 minutes and growing to fremont street. Heres one oh one this is your drive across the golden gate. Theres a zipper truck i see peeping out right there switching around the lane configuration on the right hand side but a great trip here both into and out of San Francisco and ill give you one more the richmond sandra fell road were gone traffic looks great through the tolls across the span into the north bay smooth sailing for you on west bound 5. 80 will look at more bridges and drive times coming up james darya ok thank you. Much robin, a big story that were following this morning a man kills 2 of his former coworkers at a ford dealership in more kurd morgan hill before turning the gun on himself ground for Sarah Stinson is joining us with the latest on the investigation, sarah. Witnesses told us that you know this person who worke here at the ford dealership got fired left briefly and then came back inside too of the 7 his coworkers and then turning the gun on himself now witnesses say it was his previous manager and coworker, the police have not confirmed exactly who was shot, we do know that the shooter though did take his own life that take a look at this map so you can see where the ford dealership is located this isnt condit road. In morgan hill right off of highway, 1 one. Im just southeast of of san Jose Morgan Hill police say they responded to multiple reports of shots fired at the dealership around 6 yesterday evening when officers arrived the ford store officers located a man dead on the ground with a gunshot wound that appeared to be selfinflicted and a handgun by his side officers were shown to 2 store employees inside the building also with gunshot wounds, laying on the floor medical aid was provided to both of them, but unfortunately they died on scene, the ford store has been cleared and secured since then theres no threat to the public. But right now next to a look when does so is very chaotic here. We talked to several residents in the area who explain just how scary this all was the truth. For me that that this happens in power those small town for good. Ive lived here for it. 17 years and says now that i live here all my life and never been personally myself i never heard anything about this happens is usually a pretty safe small town like nothing like this ever happens. I will say we rarely come to morgan hill for Something Like this so it seems to be a very rare event in those a civil right next to a hotel, so it became very chaotic for. Morgan hill and the people who live here. But were still waiting on a lot of information in terms of you know why exactly did this man do this who was he and waited for police to confirm if you know was he exactly fired that day. What werr the circumstances as well as what are the names of the 2 employees were killed here so stay tuned, we hope to learn a lot more this morning. Wilson back to you now in the studio. We are learning more. And behind it. The gunman who killed 4 of his family members and then took his own life in san jose 66 yearold she didnt top was upset. A dispute about track visas for relatives who live in vietnam. The family lived together in that home where the shooting happened on have it scored and a relative says that he was jealous that some of his wifes family members got visas and had recently gotten to the us from vietnam. Well, he was not able to bring his relatives over a friend says it has seemed fine fine the last time they spoke. It thing into the anger is finally manifested into like actions like this we know we dont to talk about it until. The anger becomes destructive. Again he killed 4 of his family members and then himself in 2 people were able to escape even though they had been shot in that home they died at the hospital so for dead. And then he killed himself, a police and heard the the home. They didnt realize the magnitude of it until they get inside. 5 oh 6 and this morning were hearing from bart about a report finding that Violent Crime is up a 115 in the past 5 years. The last years murder of nia wilson and then other high profile crimes to a lot of public attention to Public Safety on bart, the bart board president says that much of the increase in violence is driven by cell phone thefts which i suppose are categorized in that there be a violent category. He says that he agrees though with the grand jury findings, the call for stepping up the hiring of more police. Weve hired 44 officers over the last 18 months and so weve now going to have another 40 to hire to get our current full staffing, weve got elevators attendance. Im proposing an Ambassador Program to have eyes and ears on the platforms and on the trains, were writers want to see people and the most important thing is that our engineers are really working on a new fare gate. The new fare gate al how about this double stacked fare. Gates these are in richmond. Theyre experimenting with them there. Bart is going to hold 2 public hearings on this report and a future bart meeting. Well, speaking of florida man is speaking out now about how his family was victimized in a mob style attack on bar 2 years ago, rusty step is disappointed with the lack of effort from bark when it comes to making the system safer. Step was one of a number of people, including his wife and daughter who were victimized by several in this group that you see here running in the video. It was again a mob type attack on a bart train at the coliseum station back in 2017. Staff believes the people who arent paying the bark fair are also causing problems for other passengers. They can claim that theyve made but theres obviously nothing measurable thats been done that your house you get someones attention. Doing something in a civil court. Well step as a lawsuit against part that is currently going through the courts. San francisco supervisors are moving forward the plans to build a controversial Navigation Center for the homeless, its going up on the market darrow. Near the bay bridge conference christina take teo is live with more on this plan which has met with a lot of resistance. That shelter the safe Navigation Center they do want to go ahead and make is actually going to be taking over the slot behind me here. Its parking lot 3. 30 here often than barca darrow and as you know with this being a large Tourist Destination as well as having a lot of apartment complexes in the area. There are a lot of people that traffic this every single day. A lot of pushback from people who live in the greater area of the board of supervisors yesterday did vote to move forward with the plans at the board of supervisors meeting opponents of the homeless shelter actually asked for an appeal saying the city did not seek. Are they did not seek an environmental review. Members of the board to say they they didnt have enough evidence to go ahead and stop them project that they want to go ahead and continue with the homeless shelter will have around 200 beds, those opposed to building it here are worried it would add more homeless presence here in the area, those in favor of the shelters say this is just another case of the not in my backyard type of mentality. It even though the board of supervisors, the to continue plan to the project the fight doesnt seem to be over. Attorney representing safer market era, which is a group what poses green the shelter here did say that they think this is going to go ahead and go into court and thats when the final decision is going to be made now the shelter is going to be the 6th here in the city and the largest around 200 beds and officially the city has been approved to Start Construction on this reporting live here in San Francisco christina tetreault. And San Francisco is now the first city in the nation to ban the sale of e cigarettes the board of supervisors approved the measure trying to young kids that are picking up the e cigarette habit. The ban is going make it harder though for adults too to purchase a cigarettes. Its the most popular product among young and these of flavored products and particularly these jewel products have really taken over the market today purchases that keep these businesses open our small cash value right. If your regular customers to pay it if you have a 15 minute auto mechanic across the street has a 15 minute break we dont have his ou know treat tobacco packets noakes are going to come in and buy the rest of the stuff drink. You know the sandwich that keep their doors open. So you can hear how you know the small shops are upset about this because he will be able to buy the jewels in the c 6 there as for the kids. They can just go somewhere else i guess how about oklahoma moran have abandoned anyway this ban is going to remain in place until the fda has a plan on marketing e cigarettes this is what San Francisco has decided to do. Products any cigarettes are banned in livermore to city leaders just voted on that measure monday night and theyre also introducing a 1000 foot buffer zone between tobacco retailers and schools and libraries, the goal of that again to reduce e cig use among kids. Still ahead on the kron 4 morning news and east bay family is filing a lawsuit after Police Fatally shoot them and earlier this month, well have the latest on that story plus were also hearing from the family of an officer killed in the line of duty will tell you what theyre saying about the death of Tara Osullivan. And ahead of a cooler day ahead of us we are were still looking at a comfortable morning temperatures in the 50s and 60s just as theyve been all week at this time. Im talking more in the School Forecast to come. Im tracking your commute around the bay area, not so bad here into San Francisco just filling and so this is you shopping. And this is you maximizing at t. J. Maxx. You shopping, you maximizing. You shopping, you maximizing. Get more of the brands you love and the quality you want, and save every time. Its not shopping, its maximizing. Start maximizing today maxx life at t. J. Maxx. And quite the cooldown yeah, definitely 90s this weekend for all talk about how hot it was. Now are thinking about the jackets back oh i will say look ive got family in to come into the city yesterday, San Francisco was absolutely beautiful. Yeah, sun was out, but it wasnt hot it was just a nice cool breeze and as quick and pretty fog free to just kept temperatures actually pretty uniform along the coast keeping us out of that cool june can agree that we get to in city and along the coastline, sometimes its been really nice across the bay. Despite the fact in some cases its been a bit on the toasty side with those 90s this weekend. Today were all almost in the same boat whether youre at the coast are further inland. Were going to be in the 60s or 70s a very nice conditions ahead of us nice sunny skies, a nice comfortable temperatures looking outside of berkeley youve got Crystal Clear conditions nothing more than just a couple of low clouds, nothing thats blocking out your view as far as youre heading into work this morning. You are seeing those nice and clear skies across the bay and zooming out across the region, youre also seeing the big change that is occurring across the region. High pressure had kept us warm through thenweekend to this ridge is now being thrust it out by an area of cooler air thats pushing gradually on into the bay. It started to result in a drop in temperatures at the very beginning of the week taking us out of the 90s and into the 80s inland. But today as this cooler air really settles in will fall further down into the 70s for your daytime highs in mind, youre not going to notice as much of a difference at the coast as temperatures remain pretty steady in areas like San Francisco hanging out in the 60s again today, but its our inland areas that fall into the 70s that will show the greatest a difference. Today and tomorrow are coolest of days before on friday cloud cover increases as do temperatures eventually leading us back into the weekend that will offer up more seasonable conditions than the below average temperatures we have today, 60s for your daytime highs in San Francisco as well as up and down the peninsula. Again these numbers pretty similar to where we have been its elsewhere in the bay such as in the south bay were going to notice a cooldown san jose down at 75 degrees after yesterdays 80s. And after this weekends 90s the tri valley only in the low 70s today walnut creek and danville at 74 each while oakland and berkeley out of the 70s and back down into the 60s. Most of the north bay will peak in the 70s with fairfield at 75 santa rose at 71, while nevado in petaluma all the while the way down into the 60s at 69 each so today and tomorrow, our coolest of days if you like some cooler weather get out there and enjoy it is going to be so nice out there come friday saturday and sunday its going to be really nice too just on the warmer side now back into the 80s inland with bayside areas in the 60s and the 70s. Rob, thank you john checking in on 92 very busy right now for the folks trying to get out of hayward and. Head west found on the san mateo bridge you see on all the brake lights. They are growing getting heavier by the minute. But no problems here across the flat section up and over the high rise overall its a great trip heading to the peninsula at 12 minutes, were checking the bay bridge traffic to 80 wesson to San Francisco cash lanes and fast track lanes stacking up and quickly its already spilling just beyond 8. 80 over crossing so a busy commute as expected. But no problems or issues or traffic alerts are hot spots so were off to a great start at 12 minutes for the drive to fremont street were checking in on some more numbers and a look at theres lots of green here right so we have highway 4 which is at the limit 60 minutes antioch to concord smooth sailing on 6. 80 south and 80 south. And then one oh one not. All leading the south bay to the peninsula at just under 30 minutes, san jose to menlo park will check more coming up back to you, thanks a lot of 5 19 in national news, the us house has passed a billion.
