Were also talking about that dangerous fire weather conditions with the red flag warning that will in effect for north bay mountains. It does include the glass fire as well as east bay hills diablo range and Santa Cruz Mountains. We will see winds kick up and lower relative humidity values, critical fire weather conditions today into tomorrow. Lets check in on the latest on road closures due to the glass fire. Its a laundry list of closures on surface streets. I will stick with highways such as 128, 29, highway 12, some of the larger thorough fairs that remain shut down. These areas will be closed until further notice. East and west bound, highway 12 from mount hawk way to trinity road, north and south bound highway 29 from deer park road to tubs lane, highway 128 at Petrified Forest road, closures will remain in effect until further notice. Avoid the area if you can. Other than that, as far as your morning drive is concerned we are seeing brake lights building at the bay bridge toll plaza. I will have more on this coming up. The glass fire which has been burning for three days is up to over 51,000 acres this morning. That is bigger than the city of oak land. Its still only 2 contained. The two biggest areas of concern are the still of calistoga and community of angwin. Mandatory evacuations remain in effect for both. Reporter good morning. In the past five minutes we have seen this particular hot spot flare significantly. The temperature is cool but its expected to get to near triple digits. Later today, its looking to favor the fire and not the firefighters. More cal fire personnel and equipment are arriving by the day. Yesterday the smoke cleared just enough for air tankers to join the fight making runs and dropping retardant. This is an aerial view that gives you sense of how close the flames are getting to the homicide in the palasades mountain range. Fire crews are patrolling for hot spots and flare ups overnight. A lot of people live around here, are from here and stuff. Its scary. A red flag warning is set to go into effect at 1 00 p. M. And continue through the daylight hours. Things are busy at the toll plaza. We are starting to see traffic backing up about the 880 over pass and things slow off the connector into the macarthur maze. The rest of the bay area bridges are okay. We do have a trouble spot at the san mateo bridge at the toll plaza but its not blocking lanes. After that you are looking good towards 101. Your drive time is 15 minutes hayward to 101. Golden gate bridge, looks like that trouble spot turned out not to be much of an issue and traffic is moving nicely as you head into San Francisco. We have a renewed fire threat today into tomorrow unfortunately so with that high fire danger for the north bay mountains as well as for the east bay hills. A red flag warning in effect for north bay mountains. That does include the glass fire from 1 00 p. M. Today until 6 00 p. M. On friday. Again, the east bay hills, diablo range, Santa Cruz Mountains under the red flag warning this afternoon until friday evening. We are looking at the dry offshore winds, gusts 20 to 30 Miles Per Hour out of the north and northwest and low relative humidity values down to 10 to 20 . Watch as winds kick up through our afternoon especially for the north bay mountains, a big concern for us, watch relative humidity values drop significantly as we head through the day. Firefighters will be up against the heat. Temperaturesnear the glass fire, mid 90s to triple digits, low relative humidity values and with northwesterly winds up to 30 Miles Per Hour, could push the fire in a new direction. We will be watching communities like calistoga, angwin, st. Helena, glen ellen, ken wood, especially the eastern and southeastern zones of the glass fire. East bay, some of the hottest temperatures with 103 concord and pleasant hill, 106 antioch, 107 brentwood, triple digit for the valley. Because of this extreme heat, the park is opening up cooling centers at the Community Center and Family Recreation Center from noon until 5 00 p. M. This is to give some relief from the heat for people and to help them stay safe. Also dealing with the high fire danger, red flag warning for north bay mountains. That does include the glass fire.
