We mentioned the accident on i 80. Lets get over to gianna to talk about whats going on. It is been out there for quite some time and happened almost 3 hours ago. It is a big mess as you work through san pablo this morning. This is westbound 80 right at San Pablo Dam road. A vehicle jackknifed and overturned, big rig, actually. Another vehicle was involved. And then caught on fire. Right now, you can see the chp and animal control is working on getting the survivors out of here safely. There are quite a few that survived. We dont have exact numbers. Only a rough estimation. A few hundred did survive, but the debris around here is just remarkable. So many feathers and debris from the truck, pieces of the truck engine. The driver of this big rig crashed into the overpass here in the San Pablo Dam road exit. And a chunk of concrete came off of the overpass. It is safe to drive on now. But according to caltrans, they are checking it out. We spoke to a chp officer earlier was been on the job for 16 years. He says he has never seen anything like this. It struck the side of the concrete over crossing to the right. It swerved over into the position you see behind me. It was fully engulfed. It had live chickens that were lost in the roadway and some of the chickens were running all around arts of the freeway. And that is why weve had to shut this down. Although we are Walking Around and on pieces of this th miraculously survived with only minor injuries. There was another white sedan involved in this crash. That driver also survived. Great news, but this is just such a mess right now. And it is the reason why westbound 80 in san pablo remains closed for an on estimated amount of time right now. We dont know when this will be back open, but we remain on scene as chp and animal control try to corral the surviving chickens. For now, we will go back to you. Stay safe out there. This brushfire continues to burn this morning. If i step out of the way, you can see on the hillside. The good news is that the winds have died down in the overnight hours and it doesnt look like the fire is growing or getting any closer to homes right now. It started yesterday afternoon as a thunderstorm popped up and lightning might have been the cause. And because the winds were gusting then, the fire soon got out of control. But right now, they said safety is the number one concern which is why they are keeping the evacuation orders in place for now. Right now, federal investigators are working around the clock thomas searching for clues near the site of the boat fire tragedy. So far, they have met with victims families and interviewed crewmembers. Five were tested for alcohol and the results were negative. 16 investigators from the National Transportation safety board are expected to be on site for 7 to 10 days. In the meantime, a former crewmember of the conception dive boat is speaking out about the tragedy. Chris conley says the ship is extremely well equipped to handle fires. There are smoke detectors and a Fire Suppression system and several hoses. But connolly says there is another reason why he is sharing his story. He doesnt want the crew to be demonized. Ive go by many dive boats all over the world. And i feel more confident being a passenger on that boat from the crew, knowing that they are very knowledgeable, safety is first and foremost. Connolly says its the fire was extinguished immediately, it would spread extremely quickly because the boat was made of wood. The coast guard says the boat was not required to have sprinklers. Back in the bay area, spiral links Mason Campbell confirms one of the employees, julia crash and iowas on board the boat.
