easy morning. let's start with a live look at our bridges. starting with the san mateo bridges morning. everything looks pretty darn good. in fact a little bit later than usual. not sure why, but i guess everyone decides they're going to work from home on tuesday. in the meantime you have some company but never in a break like that all. in the eastbound direction everything seems to be moving right along. not a single problem there. onto the bay bridge for the metering lights are not yet on. they should be on here in the next 20 minutes or so. in the meantime we are starting to see added volume at the toll plaza and certainly those cash lanes are backed up but also the fast-track lanes are a little bit slow as well. went to through the toll plaza you are back up to a regular running speed and smooth sailing into the city. off to the richmond/san rafael bridge, we do have emergency construction in place and you can see chp on the scene as well as several flashing lights. that is going to start to slow things down a little bit later but in the meantime your travel times to the ultimate pass in the yellow. thank you, emily. police are investigating an overnight shooting in san jose. deputies were seen canvassing the area for several hours. bullets struck several cars and we are hearing at least one person may have been shot. several men were seen taken away in handcuffs and kpix 5 jackie ward is headed to the scene and will have more details coming up in a live report. also developing in san jose, investigators are still trying to piece together the motive behind a quadruple homicide. the suspects neighbor said he heard arguing followed by a half-dozen gunshots before hiding in his master bedroom with his wife and son. seconds later he says the government's wife jumped the fence, ran through an open door to his home, and hid in his child's room. she and her teenage daughter were able to escape after her husband gunned down her brother and sister but soon after she jumped the fence, he began looking for her. >> i saw him asking, looking for his wife, and i heard five shots, six shots, she didn't talk to me or anything. i was kind of like upset, what are you doing run into this house? you shouldn't because i have a five-year-old here. and she knows that. >> officers retrieved to victims inside the home but they both died at the hospital. police later found two others and the gunman dead inside the home. the driver who hit and killed a lyft driver and the passenger in san francisco is still on the run this morning. security camera footage captured the violent crash early sunday morning. the lyft drivers car eases into the intersection of paul avenue and moments later it is sideswiped. police say the other driver who ran a red light ran from the scene and left the vehicle behind. family members of the lyft passenger say she was a beloved grandmother. >> we are all now suffering. there will be a place in our heart that we will not be able to fill without her company. it's, it's a big loss. it's a big loss. >> the descent of the statement saying we are deeply saddened by this tragic accident and resulting loss of life and stand ready to assist law enforcement in any investigation. new details about the two mysterious murders on skyline boulevard in san mateo county. the dss the suspect toward his victims to the woods. the victims' families were in court yesterday as 26-year-old malik dosouqi face the judge for the first time. dosouqi stands accused of killing cab driver dosouqi last week. 24 hours later a second victim, tow truck driver john pekipaki was discovered bleeding to death nearby. investigators are still searching for a motive. >> are we dealing with hate crimes? religious motors? are we dealing with a throw killer? those are what we do not know yet. and as i have told the sheriff's office, i think their investigation is about 25% complete. >> the suspect did not enter a plea and is due back in court next month. a judge denied well. in sacramento the man accused of gunning down a police officer is on around-the- clock psychiatric watch. 45-year-old adel ramos made his first appearance in court wearing a large bandage yesterday. he was treated in a hospital after bashing his head against the federal. ramos is charged with murdering 26-year-old tara o'sullivan while she was responding to a domestic violence call. o'sullivan had been with the force for less than a year. i'm nielsen at the likenesses. right now, one of elon musk's space x rockets is carrying out a complex mission in outer space. the falcon heavy rocket took off from florida overnight carrying 24 satellites. it's all part of an experimental mission for the air force to prove the private company is capable of carrying out missions in the future. the launch was successful and the center core of the rocket was supposed to land on that barge in the atlantic ocean but you can see there as it flies by and erupts into a fireball as it actually hit the water. interesting enough the rocket also caring the ashes of more than 150 people who want to spend eternity drifting in the cosmos. now let's take a live look at nasa's jet propulsion laboratory in pasadena. in southern california, a little too early for those engineers to be working right now but nasa installed this webcam so people can actually watch them put the mars rover together. that rover is scheduled to launch in july of next year. and then get to the red planet about eight months later. at the likenesses, -- happening today leaders will discuss banning facial recognition technology. the talks come one month after san francisco became the first in the nation to ban use of the software by city agencies and police. critics a facial record asian technology is invasive and unreliable. in an aclu study the software misidentified 28 members of congress as criminals local police argue it could help them catch criminals. to looking like to the white house for the top administration just unveiled a new round of sanctions on iran. but iranian officials continued to refuse president trump's invitation to hold talks. just this morning the country's president announced that the white house and its policies. in a meeting with other officials iranian presidents called the sanctions outrageous and idiotic. president trump sanctions on iran. >> i am glad frankly relieved that we are not in a military conflict right now. but i am concerned about the absence of a clear strategy from the administration. >> president trump says he has shown restraint towards tehran but warns that might not last. and this morning you and security advisor john bolton said all options remain on the table if iran exceeds it's a rainy enrichment limit. this morning surprise healthcare bills could soon be a thing of the past. new executive order signed by president trump requires hospitals to disclose what they charge for common tests and procedures before patients say yes to them. it is designed to help patients compare costs from different providers. some of the health industry complaint it will force them to give up what they call trade secrets. also this morning if you don't have health insurance, you could soon be slapped with a new tax. the state legislature has voted to charge people who refuse to buy coverage. it's now up to governor gavin newsom to sign it which is likely since he proposed a similar plan in january. the penalty would enact a key part of former president obama's health care law and would and was later a limited by the top administration. new video this morning of the destruction left behind from a brush fire in the central valley. check it out. the flames spread from the highway to a car locks -- car lot. it was evacuated as cruise fought the blaze at this was a result. fire officials say 85 vehicles or other damage or destroy. the chp said a big rig dragging a chain may have sparked the fire. hundreds of bar passengers evacuated coming up the meltdown on one train dubbed the fleet of the future. we are starting out the day with mainly clear skies this morning. a cool down b.a.r.t. system. after the evening commute b.a.r.t. move the train to the maintenance yard to figure out what happened. a live look at sfo this morning. roger passengers have been stuck waiting and waiting. roger company say a new pickup location is causing some chaos. arriving passengers at sfo now have to cross the sky bridge and find the right on top of an hourly parking garage. the switch from curbside pickup started a few weeks ago. and the number show a big impact on wait times. lyft and uber report skyrocketing wait times from eight to 10 minutes on june 2 two nearly 30 minutes after the change began. >> we got a ride and it was canceled, were still waiting. >> was a little unusual that they chose to do it as the peak summer travel season was starting. >> it may just be growing pains. drivers and riders need to get used to the system and sfo says it is working on new signs and landscaping to make it permanent. if you're planning a trip to the dmv soon you may want to blackout one upcoming day. it will be a partial statewide closure on july 24. the california dmv says it will shut down for half a day to retrain employees on customer service and real id transactions. offices will cause until 1:00 in the afternoon and the move comes after a major blender left millions of customers with inadequate real ids. >> i have a di -- i have a dmv appointment and i'm sure it's the 24th are not victim going to have to go check it. >> you already don't want to go to the dmv but then you have to go and wait another day. >> you don't know how long i have been look to be causing any delays at this hour. off of altamont pass which is actually pretty darn good for this time of morning. you are only moving throughout about 70 mile-per-hour speed but it is not in the red which is good news and want to pass that you are moving along at the regular running speed. a little bit of slowing go conditions at 80 south down as you leave past our pastor livermore. but good to go as you hit the dublin interchange. there are the enclosures and effect northbound 101 in marin from seminary to tiburon boulevard. that's result of the building a wall to the side. to laser shut down there. the southbound direction, closures are doing as a result of the golden gate bridge construction. with not and it is emergency construction on the richmond/san rafael bridge. they will be languages in that westbound commute direction until 6:00 this morning. things will back up and so far not so bad. your drive time in the yellow coming through the altamont pass but still line drive while ball hit her in the head. she was sitting just be on the net. that girl who suffered a concussion is now speaking about the experience. >> you know in movies where like a bomb goes off and you hear the sound and the scene starts to that shady and everyone sounds like they're mumbling? it was like that. >> almost a year ago the 79- year-old grandmother was hit in the head at the stadium. she was rushed to the hospital and died four days later. her family compared the impact to a gunshot. >> a ball coming up the bat into the same will come up at 100 miles an hour. it will travel 130 feet in about a second. >> as per say the force of the impact is like having a 10 bound weight dropped on your head. all 30 major league teams have protective netting from home plate to at there netting extends well beyond the far end of the dugout and exceeds the minimum standards set by the mlb. in today's healthwatch, health officials are confirming 33 new cases of measles in just the last week. that brings the total to 1077 in 20 eight states. the cdc says this is the highest number of cases in the u.s. since 1992. and researchers at yale university found that more women are getting 3-d mammograms that everyone is receiving the same care. doctor say that is because the use of 3-d technology varies by region and demographics. 3-d mammograms are hoping to boost detection rates and lower false positives. sometimes the results can be deadly and teddy russell is among the many casualties. he was dead just hours after checking into one of the bay areas best-known rehabs. of violence in san jose. this morning officers find bullet casings on the street. plus immigrants in california left in limbo. their fears is president trump's deportation deadline looms. and hours of video released and the justice malec case. the moment police entered the actors apartment caught on camera. good morning. it is tuesday, june 25. i'm michelle griego. let's get right over to mary lee to talk about our weather. a bit of a cooldown and i'm okay with that. >> it will be nice. seasonal daytime highs for this time of year it will be refreshing having that cooler weather for many of us across the bay area. here is a live look with our treasure island camera. a pitiful start to the day with many clear skies. templates in the 80s and 60s as we take you through the afternoon for the coast, cool and breezy and low 60s for the bay upper 60s to low 70s. and are in the locations we are out of the 90s and into the mid to upper 80s. and even gets cooler still. will have the same the forecast coming up. so far so good on the roadways this morning here at 5:30. let's look at your main travel times where lucky you, most of them are still in the red. -- green, that the color looking for this morning. clearly i've not had enough coffee. however that will be corrected shortly. in the meantime take a look at this. everything in the green with the exception of the altamont pass. it is a 32 minute ride and not bad at all. elsewhere about a quarter of an hour on the issue freeway and half an hour on highway four and just under 40 minutes on 101 as you head out of the south bay this morning. this is really the only slowdowns but we have got with the exception of the altamont pass and the richmond suffering of bridge. you can take a level -- as a result of the emergency construction on the bridge. it is slowing things down at the toll plaza as you can see and backing things up on 580 westbound. it will cost you some delays this morning. take that into consideration when you walk out the door today. the san mateo bridge looks pretty darn good. just a few brake lights and that was bound direction. i'm jackie ward live in san jose where the senate clerk seven stops is investigating yet another shooting that happened near this driveway last night around 10:30. you can see some nearby cars took some damage and people in the neighborhood are waking up to bullet holes in the windshield. one person was injured. witnesses say they heard about six to seven gunshots the area and so one person running away from the scene around 10:30 last night. to give you some perspective, we are not to far from san jose city college. one person appears open shot and three others were arrested. only one of those three arrested is allegedly named a suspect. the area was littered with shell casings earlier and bullet holes could be seen in a lot of nearby car parked cars. the sheriff's office was canvassing the area trying to find any clues that would help in their investigation. we're still working to confirm the details of the shooting with the santa clara county sheriff's office. they're the one investigating the case. live in san jose, jackie ward, kpix 5. i'm nielsen at the live nude us. the back-and-forth continuing today with iran. iran's president is responding this morning to a new round of sanctions from the u.s. that just came down yesterday. this morning the president of iran said they are outrageous and idiotic. it all comes after iran shot down a u.s. drone on june 20 but iran says the was in its airspace. president trump says the sanctions are a proportional response to what he said was an act of aggression against united states. around sports minister said the move is closing the diplomatic channels forever which could push both countries closer to war. at the live says, i'm nielsen. >> this morning all lanes along westbound 580 and in livermore are back open after a brushfire snarl the evening commute. you can see how close they came to the highway near the altamont pass. the fire broke out around 3:00 yesterday afternoon and took 45 minutes to contain. it turned out the fire was sparked by a wheel falling off a pickup truck meanwhile police are calling a fire that prompted evacuation in alameda county suspicious. videos of the flames started popping up on social media around 10:00 sunday night. police say some sort of domestic dispute between a man and a woman led to the brushfire in the niles area of fremont. 10 homes were evacuated. fremont fire got help from hayward and alameda county crews. luckily the winds were calm and humidity was high and the fire stopped before burning any structures. >> very steep terrain but the crews were able to get it contained within a couple hours. >> i said thanks god for them and they were working for us. >> as for the criminal charges that might be filed, fremont police say rather than arson they are looking at reckless disregard to public safety. the mount diablo unified school district has unanimously voted to ban a chemical found in roundup another week killers. the board voted that any remaining products be immediately removed from all district sites. officials say they have not used it since october of last year. this proposed ban was brought forth after many parents and community members emailed the district about their concerns. >> it scary. it's mary because are so many things you don't know that to something to happen. why even risk it. you know you get it out of your own house why not get it out of the schools. >> there are a growing amount of study showing that roundup is a carcinogen it is not safe. it is a endocrine disruptor and is something that should be not around children. >> monsanto which is owned by bayer has denied there is a link between the chemical and cancer. last year a jury ordered monsanto to pay $289 million to former school groundskeeper dewayne johnson who is dying of cancer. happening today, san francisco leaders decide the fate of the embarcadero navigation center. residents filed an appeal saying leaders skipped key steps just to push the plan through. they say a 200 bed center will bring crime and blight to the neighborhoods. the mayor post that the embarcadero navigation center earlier this year to address the homelessness crisis. she hopes to get up and running by the end of this year. taking a live look at the white house now which is threatening to veto a ford have billion-dollar aid bill for migrant families saying the measure would hands draining the security efforts. the threat comes during president trump's two-week i.c.e. raids the lay. one sacramento woman says she fears having to see her family members be deported once again. >> as a young kid having to see that it's almost traumatizing. it's not a great way to go about your life. is a constant anxiety. >> churches across sacramento are now passing out hotline cards to undocumented immigrants and explained the rights of ice approaches and. ice is expected to begin the mass roundup of about 2000 immigrants in 10 major cities across the u.s. they are targeting undocumented migrants who either missed a court hearing or receipt deportation orders. newly released body cam video shows the moment police entered jussie smollett's chicago apartment right after he was allegedly attacked. the empire actor appears to have a noose around his neck. after he claims two men doused him in bleach yelling races in homophobic slurs on january 29. the case drew huge speculation after investigators began to suspect that smollett played a role in the attack. ultimately the entertainer was not charged with the crime. a special prosecutor is reviewing the dismissal opening the door for smollett to be charged again. this morning a man is accused of trying to steal an oscar winner's mention. mild different is accused of changing the deed on halle berry's home in the hollywood hills. and trying to 26 and the s&p 500 was down five. some members of congress are alarmed by facebook's plan for crypto currency. yesterday the financial services committee announced a july 17 hearing on the project libra. the chairwoman says she doesn't see how consumers would benefit from allowing a u.s. company to compete with the dollar. the committee has scheduled a hearing on libra for july 16. fedex is suing the federal government over export rules that they say are impossible to follow period the shipping giant as most packages are sealed when customers drop them off and fedex compares names and addresses of shippers and recipients against the government list of people who could be a security risk. last year the company paid half $1 million to settle allegations of violated export rules. >> mission was almost a success. the rocket launched from florida i was attempting to land on a drone ship when the center core came crashing down. it was carrying two dozen satellite into space for key customers. including u.s. department of defense. despite the crash, the launch are still being called it's most difficult mission today. meanwhile vision accomplished for three astronauts who landed back on earth last night to take a look. that is a sore use ms 11 capsule that landed in on. among them was american astronaut and mclean. the crew spent 204 days in space while completing a mission chicken of course because it 7'6" tall. but big red is hard to miss. the massive poultry was stolen from the front yard of a home on crow canyon road in castro valley. thanks to a tip the sheriff recovered the bird from a hayward backyard about three miles from the home. so far no arrest but how are you going to hide that? >> exactly. i was going to asked that same question. >> there is no way meantime i will let you know how the roadways are and they are actually looking pretty darn good at budget for the six this morning. taking a live look at the map. there is a whole lot of green and not a lot of orange or red which is good news if you are about to hit the road today. this is pretty much our slowest part of the morning and not surprising. that the altamont pass. those of you who are commuting out of the tracy triangle you are down to 40 miles an hour through the altamont pass but then once you get through that you are back to the regular running speed all the way to the dublin interchange. just a little bit of slowing southbound on 84 and south on 680 out of their. we do have a slower spot. this is due to a vehicle fire southbound 680 at vargas road. not only is there a car in the center divide and one on the right hand shoulder but the fire department is on the scene. apparently an engine combusted. that will slow you down as you try to make your way out of that area southbound towards fremont. back over to marin county where we are seeing emergency construction in the westbound direction of the san rafael bridge. you can see it is slowing go at the toll plaza but it looks like you are good to go despite the lane closures in the westbound direction. elsewhere on 101 southbank good to go. northbound opposite of the commute direction luckily because they are down to two lanes in that northbound direction right there from seminary boulevard to the tiburon boulevard exit. rain travel times in the yellow. also on the east shore freeway that's a 20 minute ride from highway 4 to the maze and up to 34 minutes coming through the altamont pass. mobile five is on the ground and headed northbound right there on the nimitz this morning. you can see very high so limit your midday exposure on the late morning into the early afternoon and that is when the uv radiation is at its greatest. the pollen report, the pollen count, medium levels for today, through wednesday and thursday and check out friday. it drops down to the low/medium category. so it's great to see the allergy count, pollen count dropping a bit if you're suffering from allergies.
