Okay, lets talk about that cruise ship, the grand princess, where that Placer County man disembarked from in february but died today. That ship was out again on another cruise, but its now headed back to San Francisco after some of the passengers fell ill. Now Health Officials are investigating whats being called a small cluster of cases. Nbc bay areas Christie Smith joins us live from the cruise terminal in San Francisco with an update on that cruise. Christie . Reporter well, we were out here when the ship last took off from San Francisco, and now it wont even be allowed to dock until everyone on board is tested. Those test kits will be flown out to the ship, and the tests taken to a lab in richmond. February 21st, a cruise on the grand princess left from San Francisco to hawaii. Our cameras were there, and we asked passengers leaving for the 15day cruise if they had any coronavirus concerns following the outbreak on the diamond princess. I had concerns a little bit with it just kept escalating. I do have masks on board. Im not concerned about it at all. Reporter but now growing concern from the cdc about everyone on board that ship. When it departed, 62 passengers from the previous cruise stayed on board. Theyre now staying in their state rooms until medically cleared as the ship heads back to San Francisco. In a joint statement from the city, coast guard and cdc, weve learned three passengers who completed the first cruise are presumed positive for covid19, including a 71yearold man in Placer County who died this morning, becoming the states first known death linked to coronavirus. We have a small cluster still investigating that may grow as we learn more associated with the cruise ship which this passenger also was on. Reporter Health Officials in Sonoma County say one passenger who got off the ship on february 21st took a shuttle to a Sonoma County airport and days later went to the hospital and tested as presumptive positive. That person is hospitalized in stable condition. Were currently tracking where this individual may have been during the ten days in the county and working to establish any contacts the person had and potential exposures. Now the cdc says theyre in the process of tracing the 2500 passengers that were on that overage original cruise to mexico, finding out where they are and how theyre doing. Well, fears of the virus have prompted 49ers running back Raheem Mostert to cancel his appearance at an auto show this weekend. Mostert said he will not attend because he is putting his family first. A pilot began today at the Mission Street Sobering Center in san jose. The one year program will welcome people suffering from meth addiction. The center already helps those dealing with alcoholism. They hope this center will get addicts off the streets. The idea of this is Substance Abuse and Mental Health are a medical issue, and we want to treat that as such. Its not a punitive program. Its really look to what we can do to assist them in recovering. The program will cost roughly a Million Dollars to operate per year. San francisco is planning to open a 24hour meth Sobering Center later this year. A milestone in San Francisco today. We did have recordsetting heat today, up to 80 in santa rosa. That beat the old record of 76 set back in 2012. Concord also at 79 degrees, beating that old record at 73, and close to records in San Francisco, livermore, and also in san jose. Lets take you out to the east bay and concord where we did have the record setting heat, and currently it is hazy with 73 degrees right now. Well drop down to 60 once we hit 9 00 p. M. And eventually 50s by 10 00 and 11 00. Tomorrows temperatures do go a couple of degrees cooler. Instead of upper 70s and low 80s, i pushed it down to 73 in livermore. 71 in clearlake. 70 in santa rosa. San francisco 64. And from san jose to morgan hill, were also looking at low to mid70s. The big changes come by tomorrow night. An approaching storm system will keep the heaviest rain away burks this cold front here, as that gets closer friday, will increase cloud cover, bring us some drizzle near the coastline, and check it out by saturday morning. Its not much, but the possibility of some spotty showers near the coast, peninsula, south bay and wed keep that into 11 00 in the morning on saturday. Now this will bring some snow to the sierra.
